Setting up the Starline A93 key fob (programming) alarm

The Starline A93 alarm system is a multifunctional system that performs a range of different tasks.

There are four buttons on the key fob, each of which is responsible for its own function.

A short press of the first key will arm the car. Removal is carried out by briefly holding the second button.
The third one sends a request about the condition of the car, and the LCD screen displays data about the battery charge reserve and the temperature inside the car.
Fourth – searching for a car in the parking lot. The Starline alarm will sound, and the key fob screen will display information about the engine temperature.
A long press of the first key, and then a short press of the second, turns on silent mode. The Starline alarm system will not sound, but the owner will receive notifications about hacking attempts. You can turn off this mode by long-pressing the second button, and then briefly clicking on it again.
When you hold down the first and third buttons, the “Panic” function is activated. Sound and light signals are triggered, scaring away potential intruders. It turns off by briefly holding the second key.
You can lock all buttons on the Starline key fob to prevent them from being pressed accidentally. You need to press the second and fourth together. Unlocking is done by simultaneously holding down the first to fourth key.
There is an additional option to disable or enable the shock sensor, which occurs when you press 1 button twice. First the sensor of the first zone is turned off, then the second. Once held again, it will activate.
You can turn off the tilt sensor by pressing key number three twice.

In addition, the Starline A93 alarm system has a lot of other functions. Among the main tasks of the device.

Security actions. The system turns off the ignition, locks the doors and hood lock. This prevents not only car theft, but also battery theft.
Automatic heating of the power plant. You can program the motor to turn on at certain hours and heat it up to operating temperature. Additionally, you can assign interior heating.

Turbo timer. A useful Starline option for owners of turbocharged cars. After a fast drive, some parts of the intake tract heat up to serious temperatures. The turbo timer forces the turbine to operate until the temperature drops to normal levels, which has a positive effect on its performance.

Setting the sensitivity of the Starline A93 shock sensor from the key fob

The security system has two zones where these elements are located. Correctly setting the shock sensors will prevent accidental alarm activation. To adjust the sensitivity level of Starline A93 you need.

Remove the car from security mode.
Long press the third key, and then perform another short click.
After this, the shock sensor setting of the first zone will be activated. You can adjust the level using the second (more) or third (less) key on the Starline remote control.
Having set the desired level, briefly click on key 3. Now the sensitivity settings for the shock sensor of the second area are available. The adjustment is carried out in the same way.

We turn off the security mode, and then press the fourth button for a long time. Next, briefly hold this key again.

Working principle and functions

The A91 car alarm system includes a special piezoelectric sensor, which is attached to the metal panels of the vehicle body. The A93 model began to use a 3-axis accelerometer integrated into the transceiver unit. The sensor detects shocks that occur when attempting to enter the vehicle interior or dismantle parts (for example, wheels). The sensor reacts to external disturbances and sends a signal that triggers the alarm.

The user can independently configure the sensor on the Starline A91 or A93 alarm system by adjusting the warning and alarm level threshold. On early alarm models, adjustment is made by rotating a mechanical regulator; on later modifications (with an accelerometer), electronic adjustment was introduced. Depending on the settings of the parameters, the force of impact is determined at which the security complex gives a warning signal with a siren or activates the alarm mode.

Setting the volume of the Starline A93 key fob

The car alarm has a sound changing function. If desired, you can choose a quieter mode of operation of the Starline key fob itself or make the siren volume louder or quieter. To do this, you need to go to the settings menu by long pressing key number four (at least five seconds).

Then you have access to adjusting the signal volume - there is a silent mode. You can choose the system operation options: siren or trill.

turn on the ignition, then go to settings and scroll to the Soun section;
press button 3 for a long time, and then press it again briefly, the key fob will show the current volume value (default – 2);
use keys 2 or 3 to change the parameter in the range from 1 to 9;
We also exit the menu by long and short pressing key 3.

How to reduce sensitivity

Setting up an external shock sensor

The external shock sensor of the StarLine Twage and Dialog alarm families has two separate controls - compact trimming resistors with heads for a thin flat-head screwdriver.

There is a control LED next to each resistor - if the shock sensor is easy to see during installation, this makes setup easier. The upper trimmer is used to set a warning, the lower one sets the alarm level. If you need to configure it, it’s easier to do this:

1. Turn both trimmers counterclockwise until they stop, setting the sensitivity to minimum. 2. Set the warning sensitivity to a third, close the doors and arm the car. 3. After waiting at least 15 seconds for the alarm to activate the shock sensor, tap the windshield with your knuckles. The blows are sharp, but not strong. 4. If the warning level is sufficient, it will work. Otherwise, disarm the car, add a little sensitivity, arm the car and repeat step 3. 5. Having configured the warning level, set the alarm level to a little less than that specified by the warning setting. 6. Having armed the car and waited 15 seconds, we deliver a sharp blow to the edge of the windshield with our fist. If only a warning is triggered, add alarm sensitivity.

Setting up the built-in shock sensor

In modern StarLine alarms, shock and tilt sensors do not have any controls. Setup is carried out using a key fob or from a mobile application, which is much more convenient for the user. To configure sensors from the key fob:

disarm the car;
on the main key fob, press button 3 until a beep sounds, then press it again briefly;
a hammer icon and a number from 1 to 10 will appear on the screen, indicating the current warning level setting level;
use buttons 2 and 3 to decrease or increase sensitivity;
press button 3 again long and short;
the screen will display the alarm level setting, which can be changed using buttons 2 and 3. In this case, the number on the screen should be less than that set for the warning level;
Long and short press button 3 again to save the settings.

Setting the time on the key fob

You can complete this task by following a simple procedure.

You need to enter the Starline settings mode by long pressing the fourth key on the key fob. After this, one melodic signal and two short ones will sound, and the clock values will begin to blink.
Use keys 2 or 3 to set the clock parameter up or down.
After finishing, press button 4, which will put the Starline key fob into minute setting mode. The display is carried out in a similar way.
Another press of the fourth button takes you to the alarm settings. The installation principle is carried out in the same way.
The programming mode exits automatically after 8 seconds.

Setting up the Starline A93 key fob after removing the battery

press the settings button 9 times;

Why do you need to reduce

Could the alarm be too sensitive? The question is not at all rhetorical. Its relevance has been felt by many owners of car alarms. It’s not at all difficult to understand when an alarm goes off properly and in a timely manner, and when, in addition to the hassle of idle ringing, it ruins the life of its owner. Still, it’s not a joke: 100 dB of a car’s security siren regularly howls in the middle of the night against the permitted 30 dB.

If we also mention the loud keychain, which forces its owner to jump out into the street for no reason in order to save his car property, then it will become clear how harmless this very notorious sensitivity of the Starlien car alarm is. Although the reasons for the need to reduce it are quite simple and can be easily eliminated even on our own:

The adjustment of the shock sensor, when installing it, is made taking into account the maximum sensitivity of the alarm system, incl. and Starline;
reducing the “sensitivity” of car alarms, incl. and Starline, is associated with a violation of the sensor’s attachment to the car body;
both reasons simultaneously influence the decrease in the “sensitivity” of the alarm;
warranty or emergency case of poor car alarm operation.

Important: the main difficulty when setting it up for any alarm will be finding a shock sensor. Its approximate location is known - under the trim next to the clutch pedal. But you still have to look.

Setting up a new Starline A93 alarm key fob

When purchasing a device, you will need to link it to the car. You need to know where the Valet service button is located. After that:

turn off the ignition, disarm the car, and then press the Valet key seven times;
turn on the ignition, the car will give seven light and sound signals, confirming entry into the binding mode;
press buttons 1 and 2 on the key fob;
the Starline machine and remote control will emit a signal;
When the ignition is turned off, the car will blink its headlights three times, confirming successful binding.
