There are updates in the post below.
Good afternoon, dear ones.
I had a Starline A93 alarm unit lying around, which once worked properly, but one day stopped responding to the “lie down, fetch” commands from the remote control. For a long time I drove with no more than a standard central locking system. The thought popped into my head, is it possible to restore its functionality? Will rewiring her brain help?
Preface on how it died: When I checked its functionality, there were glitches when working with the remote control (from the 10th time, for example, it was armed, disarmed, and then stopped responding altogether). The batteries on the remote are good, but they don't want to interact. It enters the programming mode (press the service button 5 times and turn on the ignition, 5 beeps will be heard), but it is not possible to manage the settings.
I decided to try returning the factory settings and updating the software. To do this, you need a special cable from Starline, which is also a regular USB-UART adapter to CP2102. I ordered from Ali for 50 wooden ones, we are waiting.
And now a question for the experienced. Will a software update help? _____________________________________________________________________________________ UPDATE: I finally received the USB-UART adapter and started the path to updating the software.
I was tormented by doubts that the computer and the program would see the module, but! Thank heavens! Everything connected perfectly and we managed to successfully update the firmware.
Before the update, I made a copy of the settings (but still needed to screen everything) and updated the software. After updating the software, the program asked to reset all settings to “logical”.
The alarm began to respond adequately to commands, but at the moment the connection with the central locking system (central locking) was lost. Those. I set it to security - the doors do not lock, unless you block it using the car's standard remote control. Further, if I set the security system and lock the doors and set it to autostart, then when the car is running, it disarms, but does not open the locks (I press “open doors” on the standard remote control) until the autostart timer passes and the car turns off. Only after this is it possible to unlock the doors and continue driving.
Question for experts: where to dig? Is there something in the alarm settings or is the contact from the central lock missing somewhere?
______________________________________________________________ UPDATE 2: After a night of inactivity, the autostart again did not want to work and wrote OST on the remote control. Damn her! Let's dig further.
UPDATE 3: I studied Starline support and found some interesting information: “After giving a command from the key fob to start, does the car make attempts or does the OST immediately light up?” nothing happens, just an error
In this case, this inscription indicates that the security zone was violated after the program neutralization was completed. For example, the door opened. Since after arming the car and disarming it, even if it is operating in Turbo mode, preparation for autostart is canceled.
It turns out that if, after arming the car, the door was opened and armed again, then autostart will not occur. And you need to start the car again with the key and put the parking brake on.
This kind of crap is only available with manual transmission.
UPDATE: I redid the installation at the alarm installation points and everything returned to normal.

How to reset the StarLine A91 alarm system to factory settings
If you reset the user settings, everything will need to be restored, so it is better to resort to this measure as a last resort.
Settings may not be reset for the following reasons:
- an error in the operation of the StarLine control unit: it may not respond to pressing the key fob keys even during an emergency attempt; to troubleshoot the problem, you need to reflash the system;
- electronics malfunction (damage to the power circuit due to a short circuit or other interference): with this malfunction, the system previously periodically did not respond to commands coming from the keys, and the siren could turn on for no reason.
To resolve these problems, it is better to contact a service center.
A63 equipment
The standard Starline A63 set includes only a central unit, a transceiver module, a locking relay, two key fobs, instructions and an installation kit (screws, clamps, hood button). Siren is purchased separately.
Expansion of functionality is possible with the following modules:
- The autostart module (standard for alarm systems of this generation) is connected via a cable to the central unit. Its settings adapt the autostart system to cars with a traditional ignition key, with a start-stop button, and so on. However, due to the fact that both the hardware and software of the A63/A93 family of alarms have been repeatedly upgraded, the manufacturer guarantees autostart operation only on A63 alarms that have a serial number starting with the characters AX3. Otherwise, the unit may not support working with the module both software and hardware (a number of elements on the board are missing).
- The StarLine GSM-Master module is required to implement telematics capabilities (alarm notification via mobile phone, alarm control via a mobile application and SMS commands). At the same time, the vehicle’s coordinates are determined only from LBS 9 base stations of the cellular network), therefore it gives satisfactory accuracy only in cities densely saturated with cell towers.
- The StarLine 2CAN-2LIN Master module is a universal expansion board for integrating alarm systems with digital buses of domestic and foreign cars.
- StarLine GPS-GLONASS-Master is necessary to increase the accuracy of tracking vehicle coordinates.
When installing the 2CAN-2LIN module, the car owner will receive expanded functionality - indirect engine start blocking without physical relays, owner authorization using a PIN code entered from the car's standard buttons, SUPER SLAVE mode, when the alarm is controlled from a standard radio key without weakening the degree of protection of the car.

Differences from A91
The A91 alarm system is the predecessor of the A93 generation; it is currently obsolete and discontinued.
Model A 91 does not have as much functionality as the A93. The A91 alarm system does not have such functions as:
- authorization by PIN code;
- communication channel control and self-diagnosis;
- “smart” shock and tilt sensors.
On the A91 it is impossible to use the functions of keyless entry or hidden protection via CAN+LIN/2CAN+2LIN buses. The lack of protection via can-lin tires makes it easier for an attacker to find and deactivate the alarm while inside the car.
The A91 was a good progenitor, it is crypto-resistant and reliable, it has the ability to install a telematics module (GSM/GPS), but there are no advanced functions necessary for user comfort, such as keyless entry.

They will help protect your car from theft by blocking the engine or ignition, and will notify you of an attacker’s attempts to enter the cabin. Advanced alarms such as Starline B9, A9 or A91 have a number of additional functions.
- The engine is able to start independently according to the mode depending on the ambient temperature, according to the set clock or alarm clock. This will allow you to warm up the engine and interior using a button immediately before leaving the apartment.
- If you have a Starline GSM alarm module, you can configure additional parameters.
- The owner can set a timer mode in which the turbine will continue to operate for some time. This is beneficial for the longevity of the assembly.

Description Starline A63
The Starline anti-theft system works with a non-scannable dialogue code, which eliminates the possibility of signal interception by attackers. One of the main features of the alarm system is the presence of an intelligent automatic start function for the power unit. Its use allows for remote start of a machine engine at a certain time or on command.
The Starline anti-theft system is based on the fourth generation platform. The A63 signaling differs from previous models in the use of light signals, as well as power relays; they are designed to control the central locking.
The developers of the security complex have introduced new functions aimed at ensuring vehicle protection and more comfortable operation. Additional modules LIN, 2CAN, GSM and GPS are used. This has significantly increased the capabilities of the anti-theft installation in terms of vehicle monitoring.
The AutoAudioCenter channel has made a video that provides a detailed overview of all the features and functionality of the Starline A63 alarm system.
Technical features
Below are the features of the anti-theft installation:
- Super Slave. Reliable vehicle protection is ensured thanks to three security lines. When a signal is sent, the impulse undergoes Dialog identification, verification of the standard system, and also by the immobilizer.
- Availability of telematics. Thanks to the GPS GLONASS and GPRS-GSM modules, the car owner can determine the location of the car at any time by receiving coordinates from the signaling system. Thanks to telematics, some car alarm functions can be controlled remotely.
- The interactive protection mode protects the signal from interception by scanners and code grabbers.
- The developers have implemented effective protection against interference. The anti-theft system can function unhindered in harsh city conditions where radio interference prevails. Protection is provided by a 128-channel transceiver.
- The package includes tilt and shock controllers. It is possible to remotely configure sensors. If configured correctly, the controller will be able to detect the evacuation of the vehicle, as well as its jacking.
- Extended temperature range. The anti-theft system operates reliably in harsh climatic conditions. The temperature range is from -50 to +85 degrees.
- High energy efficiency. The battery can remain charged for up to two months when the security mode is activated. This is ensured thanks to modern technologies and software solutions that the developer used to create the alarm.
- Availability of CAN+LIN interface. This allows for quick, convenient and safe installation of the anti-theft system on modern cars equipped with such tires.
- It is possible to control the anti-theft installation via a smartphone. If a GSM control module is installed on the car, the car owner will be able to control the main signaling options, as well as receive status alerts in the form of messages on a mobile device.
- Reliable control of the communication channel. This allows you to check the location of the remote control, provided that it is within the range of the signal transmitter.
- The package includes a shockproof control panel. During its development, an innovative design is used to ensure protection of the key fob from physical influences. The remote control has an ergonomic design and is equipped with a built-in antenna.
- Flexible communication channels. You can configure the activation of the hazard warning lights, the folding function of car mirrors, etc.

Sound and light signals are triggered, scaring away potential intruders. It turns off by briefly holding the second key.
You can lock all buttons on the Starline key fob to prevent them from being pressed accidentally.
You need to press the second and fourth together.
Unlocking is done by simultaneously holding down the first to fourth key.
- There is an additional option to disable or enable the shock sensor, which occurs when you press 1 button twice. Once held again, it will activate.
- You can turn off the tilt sensor by pressing key number three twice.
- Security actions. The system turns off the ignition, locks the doors and hood lock. This prevents not only car theft, but also battery theft.
- Automatic heating of the power plant.
In addition, the Starline A93 alarm system has a lot of other functions.
Installation of Starline A63
Installation of the anti-theft system is carried out as follows:
- Install the control unit. The module should be installed in a place hidden from intruders. We recommend placing the unit behind the dashboard or glove compartment to ensure its safety. To securely fix the device, use self-tapping screws. The unit must be securely fastened to prevent it from vibrating.
- A siren is mounted in the engine compartment, which must be purchased separately. To prevent premature failure of the device, place it away from the motor. High temperatures will damage the siren.
- The transceiver is mounted on the windshield. To prevent interference during the transmission of pulses, the adapter must be placed at least five centimeters from metal parts. Here, in the area of the windshield, you should install a diode indicator. It should be visible from the street, since the light bulb is used to monitor the status of the alarm.
- Install the sensors included in the kit.
- At the final stage, the wires are laid and connected to the control module. All electrical circuits must be laid under the interior trim. Secure them and make sure that they will not be affected by moving mechanisms during operation. After connecting, adjust the sensitivity of the shock sensor.

Setting up the STARLINE alarm system - advantages and disadvantages
In total, the security system elements connect to 6 separate zones of the car and provide protection.
A complex encryption system with an individual cryptographic code is used. When an attempt is made to break into a car, the alarm produces light and sound signals of varying intensity (depending on the selected mode).
In case of power failure, all initial settings are automatically saved. The system has a self-diagnosis function, and if there are problems with the operation of a particular element, a notification occurs that can be viewed on the key fob with a screen.
Degree of protection
Like all modern StarLine alarms, the A63 model uses a dialogue code with 128-bit AES encryption. This means that using modern means it is impossible to hack the alarm with a code grabber, and with proper installation, even a basic kit with a single blocking relay can be highly resistant to theft.
The alarm system supports operation with the StarLine R3 wireless radio locking relay - this is the main recommendation for increasing the degree of vehicle protection. Such a relay does not have a physical connection with the central unit, so it is difficult to detect it by the wires coming from the unit, and if the central unit or its radio module is physically disconnected, it continues to block startup.
