Hi all! I continue to describe my entertainment on New Year's weekend) The “classics”, and not only them in general, have such a “disease” as a breaking/erasing seat retainer. Or rather, the seat back lock comb. This matter did not escape me either. As they say, there were no signs of sadness)) It’s just that when I got into the car and started to make myself more comfortable, the latch stopped locking. The “chewed mole” spell was cast too late and I, along with the seat back, partially ended up in the rear left passenger seat. Well, at least not on the move, it was in the parking lot. True, this clearly embarrassed the aunt on Dzhuka. I had to improvise, I pretended to lie down to rest)) After driving for several days with a case with a screwdriver behind the seat, I finally got to my “residence” where there is a welder and a lot of other things. But before that, I bought these seat comb bushings (also called reinforced (or amplifier) combs, repair combs, “barrels,” etc.), for 25 rubles apiece:
There was no desire to bother with cutting and welding the standard fasteners. Although it is on sale almost in bulk. They have catalog numbers 2101-6814103 left and 2101-6814102 and right, respectively, the price is about 100 rubles per set and they look like this:

Damage to the front seat of a VAZ 2107
When talking about seat failure, most often we are talking about a backrest failure. The device provides for changing the angle of inclination. If it breaks, it is correct to replace the locking screw. The cost of the part is not high, but repairs will take time. The worn-out spare part must be cut out and a serviceable one welded on. You can carry out such repairs in the garage yourself if you have the necessary tools and the skills to use them.
Otherwise, you can contact a workshop or purchase a new seat. If the pillows and cover themselves do not require replacement, then you will only need the frame.

Repairing a broken seat back
The backrest mount breaks due to a worn-out bracket, due to which the device moves, fixes and changes position. The bracket is the most vulnerable spot of the front seat of the VAZ 2107.
To carry out repairs, you will need a working comb.

- remove and turn the seat over. At the bottom of the pillow you will see an adjustment mechanism;
- remove the retaining ring;
- unscrew the adjusting pin;
- prepare the place for welding by cleaning it with a grinder;
- screw the pin into place;
- weld the comb.
Before welding, remove the sheathing or place a galvanized sheet on it.

Disconnect spring 10 (Fig. 9–22) and knock out rod pin 9. Unscrew the bolts securing the slide to the seat and remove them. Remove the cotter pin 11 and the screw rod 12 from the bracket 14. Sliding the sliders 2 along the guides 1, remove the rollers 3 and the limiter 5, remove the sliders from the guides.
Reassemble in reverse order.

How to fit and weld new parts
To carry out the work, follow the steps:
- bring the backrest into a sitting position and mark the position of the part;
- grab the comb in two places;
- weld the part;
- after the welding has cooled, clean the seams using a grinder;
- cover the part with paint and anti-corrosion mastic.
Installing a reinforced seat clamp comb
In order to install a reinforced comb, you will need to straighten the old one. Protect the cushions and screw with non-burning pads. Boil the damaged part. Afterwards you can install the comb, aligning it with the screw. Then weld it to the bracket.
How to solve the issue with “subsidence”
With the seat cushion removed, you can check the condition of the springs.
“Sagging” occurs because the springs break off from the sides of the chair, causing it to collapse under the weight.
To solve the “sagging” problem, you need to strengthen the seat. To do this, you should weld the metal plates and reattach the broken springs. Notice the wires that hold the seat springs together. If they are lost, install new ones.
If you want to make the seat harder, install a sheet of fiberboard and place it on top of the springs.
Front seat reupholstery
If covers were not initially installed on the chair, they will quickly become dirty.
When the upholstery is damaged, you need to re-tighten the seat:
- spread the sheathing along the seam;
- remove material;
- cut the workpiece according to the shape of the removed skin;
- inspect the structure - if necessary, replace the foam rubber and repair the springs;
- secure the new casing with thread, glue and heat sealing.
Installing the chairs does not require any special skills. The sequence of actions is the reverse of what you did when withdrawing.
Before installing the chair, be sure to lubricate the slides and other moving parts. You can use motor oil for this.
