The primary conclusion whether the fuel pump is working or not can be assessed by ear when the ignition is turned on. If you don’t hear a quiet buzzing noise from behind, then you need to check the voltage supply to the gas tank block and then draw a conclusion about its malfunction.

You can check the serviceability of the fuel pump using the MTL-2 pressure gauge; this is the most correct way. You can somewhat roughly estimate the pressure using air pressure gauges to check tire pressure. To do this, screw a rubber hose to the sensor and connect it to the fuel system.

You can do without instruments at all; to do this, unscrew the fuel hose from the filter, place a container and turn on the ignition. In one minute, about 1 liter should be poured into the container.

The pressure of the VAZ 2107 injector fuel pump when the ignition is on should be 4.0 atmospheres, and when the ignition is running 2.8-3.2. In reality, the pump pressure is different and was slightly less, but this may be an error in the pressure gauge.

The carburetor pump is checked by setting the camshaft position by cranking the engine so as to ensure free movement of the pump foot. The hose is unscrewed from the carburetor or filter and the presence of fuel supply is determined by pressing the foot.

How to replace a VAZ injector fuel pump

To replace the fuel pump on an injection vase you will need:

  1. key to 10;
  2. 2 keys for 17;
  3. key to 7;
  4. crosshead screwdriver;
  5. a simple screwdriver.

I recommend removing the gas tank mount for ease of repair work. To remove the fuel pump you need:

  • disconnect the pressure relief pipes in the gas tank;
  • Unscrew the main pipelines using 2 17mm wrenches;

  • remove the gasket from the gas tank neck;

  • unscrew the tank mount;
  • move the tank to the side;
  • remove the power and fuel level block;
  • unscrew the fuel pump flange;

  • remove the fuel pump filter;
  • remove the tube from the pump after heating it;
  • We take out the old pump and install a new one.

When installing the filter, do not hesitate to give it a good tap, otherwise it may fall off like mine. The fuel pump mesh on the VAZ injector is replaced if the old one is dirty or torn. Its replacement is carried out in the same way. Usually it is sold complete with a fuel pump; if not, you will have to buy it, the price is 25 rubles.

Reassemble in reverse order. We heat the hose again in boiling water; if the mounting location of the old electric fuel pump does not allow the part to be properly secured, then we cut it off.

Check the integrity of the gasket between the flange and the gas tank; if it is torn, there will be a smell of gasoline in the cabin.

Important. When choosing, pay attention to performance and maximum pressure. I had Bosch 0 580 454 456 and replaced it with a close analogue of FR 453-453 from WEBER.

Fuel filter location

On injection VAZ 2107, the fuel filter is located in the engine compartment. It is fixed using a clamp with a coupling bolt on the bracket.

On the carburetor VAZ 2107, the fuel filter is also located in the engine compartment. However, it is not fixed rigidly on the bracket. The consumable is simply embedded in the fuel line and is held in place only by the pipes.

Cars with an electric fuel pump also have a coarse filter. It is represented by a mesh. It is assembled with a fuel cup placed in the gas tank.

Purpose

In an injection engine, fuel must be supplied to the combustion chamber under pressure; this is necessary so that the fuel injectors accurately spray the fuel into small particles for easier mixing with air. The pressure is pumped up by the fuel pump, which has quite powerful characteristics and is capable of pumping up pressures of up to 10 bar. Of course, this pressure is not used in a car, it is regulated by a special sensor that resets it at 4 bar.

Design

The fuel pump is an internal part that contains a special electric DC motor, on the shaft of which a fuel pump is mounted. The fuel pump is made of metal and plastic, it is sealed, this is necessary so that fuel does not get inside the electric motor.

For beginners, it should be noted that a gasoline pump cannot always be installed in a gas tank.

The location of this part depends on:

To check the fuel pump, you need to check the pressure that it pumps into the system; for this you need a pressure gauge, which is connected to the fuel rail fitting through a rubber hose.

  • To do this, remove the cap from the fuel rail and unscrew the spool from it;
  • We connect the pressure gauge through the hose and fasten it with a clamp;
  • We start the car;

The pressure in the system should be from 2.7 to 3.3 bar, if less the fuel pump needs to be changed. It should also be noted that the culprit of low pressure may be the RTD.

Replacement

Replacing the fuel pump on a VAZ 2107 will not cause any difficulties if you follow the instructions below, even for a person far from car repair.

To replace you will need:

  • Open-end wrench “7” mm;
  • Open-end wrench “10” mm;
  • Open-end wrench “17” mm – 2 pcs.;
  • Flat and Phillips screwdrivers;

Replacement instructions

Relieve the fuel pressure in the system. To do this, remove the fuel pump fuse F3, then start the car engine and let it run until it stalls;

  • Remove the negative terminal of the battery;

  • We unscrew the fuel tank fastenings for ease of work;
  • We unscrew the fuel pipes with two “17” mm wrenches;
  • Remove the excess pressure relief tubes;
  • We move the fuel tank to the side;
  • Disconnect the power connector from the fuel pump glass;
  • Unscrew the nuts securing the cup to the fuel tank body with a 7 mm wrench;

  • We take out the glass along with the fuel pump;

  • Unscrew the fuel hose clamp from the pump;
  • We install the new fuel pump in the reverse order, not forgetting to install a new mesh;

Installation and adjustment of the fuel pump on the VAZ 2107

Installation can be done in the reverse order of removal. This is a simple job that does not need additional explanation. Anyone who removed the mechanism can easily return it to its place. The main thing is to monitor the thickness of the gaskets.

If you have replaced the gaskets on your device, then you need to adjust the fuel pump.

  1. Place the gasket on the engine block studs.
  2. Now insert the rod into the spacer
  3. Place it on the studs.
  4. Don't forget to install the shim.
  5. All seals must be pressed as tightly as possible to the block. Now you need to use a key to slowly turn the engine crankshaft onto the pulley, placing the rod in a position that would allow it to minimally protrude from the surface of the gasket for adjustment.
  6. The output of the rod is determined by a caliper. If it does not reach 0.8 millimeters, then you need to install a thinner gasket. The normal value of the rod output is considered to be from 0.8 to 1.3 millimeters. If the value becomes too large, then the gasket needs to be thicker.
