The factory did not provide for the installation of air conditioning for the VAZ 2114 model. But if it is not available from the manufacturer, this does not mean at all that for owners of the fourteenth, the interior cooling system is a dream.

The idea of equipping a car with air conditioning can easily be turned into reality. To do this, you will have to spend a certain amount of money and set aside a couple of days for independent installation. A simpler option is to entrust the installation to specialists from a service station. But it's expensive. Therefore, we will discuss the issue of self-installation.

Shock absorbers (struts) SS20 - only available for VAZ

The manufacturer System of Technologies produces shock absorbers of the SS20 brand only for Russian front-wheel drive VAZ cars: VAZ 2108 - 2109, VAZ 2110, 2112, the manufacturer also supplies the auto parts market with shock absorbers for Lada Priora and Kalina cars. A distinctive feature of the SS 20 is that the shock absorbers are sold assembled in the form of shock absorber struts; in addition to the shock absorber itself, the SS20 kit includes a strut body. The SS20 range includes shock absorbers of four levels of rigidity: Shock absorbers (struts) SS20 Standard for VAZ. The approximate retail price for a set of two rear shock absorbers is 3,300 rubles, front shock absorbers cost 4,700 rubles. for a couple. SS20 Standard are characterized by rigidity (compression and rebound force) corresponding to the parameters of standard factory shock absorbers of the SAAZ type. SS20 shock absorbers on front-wheel drive VAZs, which have the largest number of positive reviews from VAZ car enthusiasts, are Comfort brand shock absorbers, in which the rigidity, that is, the rebound force, is 30% higher than that of standard shock absorbers. This design can be called an ideal ratio in terms of rigidity and handling characteristics on urban and suburban Russian highways. Shock absorbers SS20 standard Highway, have 80% more rebound stiffness than conventional shock absorbers SS20 Standard, they are designed for frequent driving on country roads at high speeds. The design uses the effect of automatically increasing suspension stiffness and decreasing ground clearance. If the vehicle speed increases and the road surface is uneven, the vehicle changes its ground clearance and moves with minimal roll and sway. SS20 Sport shock absorbers have the highest rebound stiffness. Shock absorbers intended for sports driving are used in conjunction with springs of standard or increased stiffness, normal or lower height. The manufacturer's warranty for SS20 shock absorbers is 1.5 years, regardless of the number of kilometers driven. The warranty covers not only oil leaks and physical failure, but also internal hydraulic and mechanical knocking. For more information about other SS20 products and a complete price list, including prices for SS20 shock absorbers, see below.

Why is it needed?

A question to which the answer is obvious - to increase comfort. What did people used to do when cars didn't have air conditioning? They simply opened the windows and were cooled by the air entering the cabin.

But along with the air came dust, dirt, and debris. There is little pleasure in this. Plus, when driving at high speed, you can’t open the windows much, because it creates a lot of noise inside the cabin.

The climate control equipment installed on the VAZ 2114 allows you to perform three main tasks:

  • Cool the interior;
  • Heat;
  • Dry the air and interior of the car.

By simultaneously operating the heater and air conditioner, you can get rid of the problem of glass fogging and remove excess moisture, which accumulates especially heavily in the interior in winter and autumn. Excess moisture leads to corrosion and rust.

As you can see, the benefit of an air conditioner is not only that it cools the air and makes trips in the summer heat pleasant and cool. Therefore, it is hardly worth abandoning the idea of installing it.

Features of the kit

  • Connection to the ECU. Through this, the engine speed is adjusted, the main electric fan is turned on when the air conditioning is turned on, as well as the “KickDown” system, which automatically turns off the air conditioning when overtaking and turns it on again when the maneuver is completed.
  • Recycle. The function of taking air from the cabin, not from the street. Allows you to feel comfortable in traffic jams, without breathing gases. After a trip out of town, you don’t need to change the cabin filter every time because it gets clogged with dust. Air cooling is carried out much better, due to the fact that the air conditioner needs to cool not 30+ C from the street, but already cool from the cabin.
  • Maintainability. By using original factory components, the problem of shortage of spare parts is eliminated; components can be repaired or replaced at any LADA service station.
  • The main components of the system that affect cooling performance were developed by Halla and Panasonic engineers for OJSC AVTOVAZ, using those dimensions, materials and shapes that helped achieve maximum efficiency.
  • For customers living in places where temperatures of 40+ are the norm, and standard antifreeze radiators cannot cope, there is an additional option “Panasonic engine cooling radiator”, with which you can forget about this problem.

Specifications

It is unlikely that you will come across any unique air conditioner. But it still wouldn’t hurt to find out what technical parameters of cooling equipment are suitable for a VAZ 2114 car.

Vehicle powertrain

range from 9 to 18 degrees

What does the air conditioner consist of?

The device consists of several elements.

The air conditioner on the VAZ 2114 consists of several devices supplied complete with fasteners and pipes

Here they are:

  • compressor;
  • capacitor;
  • low and high pressure pipeline system;
  • evaporation module with a system of electronic sensors and relays;
  • receiver;
  • drive belt;
  • set of seals and fasteners.

Installation

Now all that’s left to do is install the equipment on your own car. Let's say right away that this is not so easy to do. Therefore, we strongly do not recommend starting work if you have no experience.

If you are used to repairing a car with your own hands, and have already managed to disassemble and assemble almost all the components of your VAZ 2114, then you can definitely handle it.

The work can be divided into six main stages:

  1. Evaporator installation;
  2. Installation of wiring;
  3. Installation of a capacitor;
  4. Installation of pipes;
  5. Wire fastening;
  6. Compressor installation.

Now let's talk about each stage separately.

Evaporator

To install the evaporator, refer to the following instructions:

  1. Remove the rubber seal from the hood of your car;
  2. Remove the plastic drain located on the right;
  3. Completely remove the stove filter, dismantling it together with the housing;
  4. Take the guerlain that comes with the air conditioner and glue it according to the instructions;
  5. Install the lower part of the evaporator;
  6. Mount the fan housing;
  7. Complete installation of the assembled evaporator.

Wiring

This is not the most difficult, but very important stage. The service life of the equipment depends on the quality and reliability of the wiring.

  • Remove the air filter and dismantle the adsorber.
  • Remove the lower protective cover of the mounting block.
  • Remove the seals located on the headlight hydrocorrector.
  • Pull the positive wire along the standard wiring bundle to the battery.
  • Lay the wiring that goes to the air conditioner fan and pressure sensor.
  • Pull the wire with the activation button through the hole in the hydraulic corrector.
  • Place the button in the location you like on the dashboard.
  • At the heater switch, connect the orange and gray wires.
  • Install the temperature sensor in the hole through which the wiring going to the heater fan passes.
  • Install the thermostat by connecting the required wire to it. Choose the installation location yourself as you like best.

Installation of condenser, tubes and compressor

To install the capacitor, you will need to move the horn to another location. Place the capacitor housing on its bracket. After connecting the compressor tube to the condenser, you can finish fixing the device. Then connect the evaporator and receiver using tubes (follow the instructions). Place the second tube between the evaporator and the compressor. At the last stage, install the pressure sensor.

To install the compressor, you will need to remove the generator and bracket. In the air conditioner kit you will find a new bracket - install it. Then put the generator, compressor and tension roller in place (the same as on the timing mechanism). You tighten the belt and go to refill with freon - it is better not to perform this operation yourself.

Refueling

Refueling air conditioners must be done using specialized equipment, where the unit does almost everything for you.

Before refueling, make sure that the technician has permission for this type of activity. Also ask what equipment the freon extraction procedure will be used on (if you are refilling).

The refueling procedure is performed in the following order.

  • Removing old freon. In your case, when you have just installed the air conditioner, this step is skipped.
  • A vacuum is created inside the system. This is necessary to check the tightness of your equipment. If there are defects, the filled freon will simply leak out and you will waste your money on an expensive refill.
  • Additives and special oil are added to the system. Over time and as the air conditioner is used, this oil disappears. So during subsequent refills you will have to fill in both freon and new oil.
  • The circuit is filled with freon.
  • The system is being tested.
  • The service of specialists is paid.

In the case of the VAZ 2114, freon refilling is required in a volume of no more than 500 grams. This is the amount of refrigerant that most cooling systems suitable for this car model are designed for.

You won’t be able to refill the air conditioner yourself, if only for the reason that buying equipment and the refrigerant itself for a couple of refills is completely unreasonable. The only exception is if you yourself are engaged in providing auto repair and maintenance services, which is why you have a gas station.

Frequent malfunctions

Its durability and quality of operation depend on the correct installation of cooling equipment. But the disruption of functionality can also be influenced by external factors, such as weather, road conditions, accidents, etc.

There are several most common malfunctions associated with air conditioning equipment.

  1. Damage to seals or reduction in their quality. They can wear out or become damaged under certain negative influences. Their condition should be checked periodically and replaced if necessary.
  2. Corrosion of the radiator and pipelines. The system includes many metal elements, the main danger for which is corrosion and rust. Try to choose products that are maximally protected from these factors, copper radiators. Plus, follow the installation instructions to prevent moisture from causing corrosion.
  3. Violation of the integrity of oil seals and rubber components. Rubber is not a durable material. Because of them, the tightness of the system is often broken, which leads to freon leakage. Here it is important to initially install reliable rubber components of a high level of quality.

Air conditioning is an incredibly useful thing in every car. Don’t worry that AvtoVAZ did not bother to equip the VAZ 2114 model with air conditioning at one time. Today it is more than possible to install it even with your own hands. Go for it!

Operating principle and design of the air conditioner

The operating principle of the cooling unit is based on changing the properties of the refrigerant during the transition from a vapor state (at low temperatures) to liquid (when heated) through a thermostatic control valve (TRV). It is recommended to use ozone-safe refrigerant (R-134a).

A car air conditioner consists of a condenser, a compressor, a filter-drier (receiver), a thermostatic valve, an evaporator and connecting hoses.

Capacitor

A condenser is a radiator that cools the fluids of a car air conditioner. There are two types: tape and multithreaded. For more efficient operation of the air conditioner, install an additional condensate cooling fan.

Compressor

The “heart” of the cooling unit with an electromagnetic clutch on a pulley pumps refrigerant through the system. When the power button is pressed, the electromagnetic clutch is activated by a belt drive from the engine crankshaft.

Filter-dryer

The receiver is installed in the engine compartment of the car (it is recommended to use a model with a viewing glass - “window”). The sight glass is used to monitor the refrigerant fill level. The filter removes excess moisture from the cooling system, resulting in optimal operation of the air conditioner.

Silica gel or powdered aluminum oxide serves as a moisture-absorbing element.

Evaporator

The block is presented in two positions - built-in and suspended type. A suspended version is mounted on classic Lada models. It supplies cold air to the cabin.

In the “classic” it is mounted under the glove compartment of the vehicle, having previously dismantled the glove compartment. In the second option, the evaporator can be embedded into the rear shelf between the speakers. But, in this case, it is necessary to extend the high and low refrigerant supply lines.

Connecting hoses

Special rubber hoses through which the refrigerant circulates. For efficient operation of the air conditioner, it is recommended to insulate the interior with thermal insulation materials (“Standartplast” pr. Russia).

How does a car air conditioner work?

Almost all modern air conditioners use freon as a refrigerant. The principle of operation of an air conditioner is to ensure the circulation of refrigerant in a closed system. There is a heat exchanger located inside the car. Freon, passing through its honeycombs, takes away excess heat from this device.

At the same time, the air temperature in the cabin decreases (as does its humidity), and the liquid freon, leaving the heat exchanger, turns into a gaseous state and enters the ventilated radiator. There the refrigerant cools and becomes liquid again. Due to the pressure created by the compressor, freon is again supplied through the piping system to the heat exchanger, where it is heated again, taking heat and moisture from the passenger compartment.

Is it possible to install an air conditioner?

Yes, installing an air conditioner in a VAZ 2114 is possible. Currently, there are several companies specializing in the production of air conditioners for the “fourteenth” VAZ models. When installing these devices, the driver will not need to make any significant changes to the design of the car. Air is supplied to the cabin through standard ventilation openings. Therefore, there is no need to cut anything new on the dashboard or under it. Consequently, the car owner will not have any problems with the law.

Coolness in Samara: factory air conditioner for the VAZ-2108, and why no one has seen it

You heard right - for all its simplicity, bordering on primitivism, the chisel-like front-wheel drive could actually be equipped with air conditioning. At least theoretically, the plant provided such a possibility at the development level, and in practice such machines, albeit in small quantities, actually existed. And we can even say more: they (with working air conditioning) still exist!

In the spirit of the times

In the eighties, air conditioning remained exotic for most utilitarian European small cars, but was still offered as an expensive option. Of course, usually tight-fisted burghers refused the “air conditioning” and bought their Golfs and Cadettes in the “drum” configuration - that is, without any options like electric windows or power steering.

However, there were exceptions - after all, from the very beginning, a flexible configurator when ordering a car “for themselves” allowed the potential buyer to “assemble” the necessary options, just like in a construction kit. That is why many cars imported from Germany were surprising with not the most logical combination of bells and whistles - for example, a leather interior could be adjacent to mechanical “oars” on the windows, and a full electrical package could be combined with a missing air conditioner. For the US market, these cars, as a rule, were equipped with an “A/C button” by default, even if we were talking about a car like the banal VW Jetta based on the second Golf.

Since the Volzhsky Automobile Plant not only focused on the tastes of the Western market, but also closely followed the proposals of European manufacturers, it was decided to develop an air conditioning system for the Sputnik family. Of course, we were talking about a very small part of cars and only for foreign markets - mainly hot countries, where cooling the cabin air was a pressing problem from April to October.

The presence of an air conditioning system significantly increased Samara’s chances of success where it gets really hot.

That is why the air conditioner appeared in the text and on the electrical diagram already in the pre-production edition of the instruction manual back in 1983! True, in later “manuals” there was not a word about it.

When carefully studying the figure-eight body, some motorists rightly wondered: why were there so many “extra” holes and recesses made in it, which are difficult to explain only by technological necessity? Indeed, this was due precisely to the fact that the layout and architecture of the body provided for the installation of an air conditioning system on the factory assembly line.

Made in Japan

Since the Tolyatti designers had no experience in developing such systems, and the air conditioner in a car operates in very unfavorable conditions and is a highly loaded unit, to develop an air conditioning system, VAZ turned to a company specializing in the development and production of such products. This is an absolutely normal practice - many car manufacturers ordered the engineering and production of their “climate” systems to highly specialized partners. In Tolyatti we settled on the Japanese concern SANDEN, one of the world's largest developers and manufacturers of air conditioning systems.

Almost all components of the Lada air conditioning system bear the SANDEN inscription. Photo: Evgeny Karpunin

And if you remember that, unlike European cars, “Japanese” cars have been massively equipped with the A/C saving button since the early eighties, then this is not at all surprising.

Of course, the air conditioning in the VAZ-2108 had to be combined with the most conventional power system, that is, a Solex carburetor, although by that time the world had already moved away from traditional “carbs” to at least electronic control and gradually switched to injection - first electromechanical, and then and electronic.

Of course, installing the air conditioner required some modification of the attachments - more precisely, the mounting brackets - in such a way as to include the compressor in the drive.

Technological holes and bosses for “conde” brackets are provided on any VAZ-2108 block! Photo: Evgeny Karpunin

Drive assembly. Photo: Evgeny Karpunin

For this, two separate brackets were provided for the compressor and generator, and the crankshaft pulley was increased in diameter - this allowed the generator and water pump to operate more efficiently at idle speed, taking into account the increased loads.

The Japanese-made heater body was distinguished by the presence of a built-in evaporator, an original copper radiator and a metal tap, and the carburetor had a drive for increasing the speed when the air conditioner was turned on. In a modern car, they are managed by an electronic engine control unit, but on a conventional carburetor it was necessary to contrive and install additional systems with a vacuum valve drive.

In the heating and ventilation system, the possibility of air recirculation also appeared: a special drive controlled the air intake curtain, providing air intake from the outside or only from the inside in recirculation mode. To drain the condensate, tubes appeared that were inserted into the body openings in the area of the front passenger's feet.

Cabin air recirculation system

As you can see, in principle the air conditioning system for the VAZ-2108 is no different from any similar one. There were only minor features: the condenser was assembled with a receiver and a fan, and its dimensions were precisely calculated to fit the relatively small free space in the engine compartment in front of the main radiator. The latter, by the way, on the VAZ-2108 with air conditioning differed from the usual one in its increased size.

To prevent the engine from overheating when the air conditioner is running, the Japanese included a thermal fuse in the design, which, in case of danger of engine overheating, would turn off the air conditioning compressor clutch based on a signal from a special sensor.

The Japanese designed their system to fit perfectly into the finished Sputnik design. And it should be noted that the SANDEN company coped with its task perfectly

Photo: Evgeny Karpunin The Sanden kit, by the way, should not be confused with the optional air conditioning Lada Baltic , which was produced from 1996 to 1998 in the Finnish city of Uusikaupunki. The Finns installed a third-party kit of their own design on the Eurosamara, which had nothing in common with the “Japanese-Soviet” version. All elements of the air conditioner bore the proud inscription Made in Japan, that is, they were produced in Japan.

The Lada Baltic air conditioner was different from the factory one

In the cabin, the Samara with air conditioning was no different from the usual one. More precisely, almost nothing: an additional air conditioning control knob and a recirculation button appeared on the “low panel” console.

On the so-called “high” panel, the air conditioning controls were embedded like this. Photo: Evgeny Karpunin

The funny thing is that even experienced chisels had no idea about the purpose of the mysterious radial stamping.

Pay attention to the rightmost plug on the console and the radial stamping to the right of the ventilation system control unit.
All this was provided specifically for the air conditioner! Indeed, the presence of an air conditioning system was provided for on the G8 already at the level of manufacturing plastic interior parts!

How did such a system work in practice? Of course, due to its complexity, over time there were individual “glitches” - for example, the solenoid valves in the engine speed control drives began to twitch, which caused the idle speed to float or noticeably increase. Like any automobile air conditioning system, the “chisel” system required regular maintenance - cleaning, lubrication, refueling. However, according to eyewitnesses, the “condo” coped quite well with its most important and immediate task - cooling the cabin. In this case, the dynamic characteristics, of course, deteriorated, but not fatally: with the air conditioner running, the “empty” car accelerated approximately the same as a fully loaded one, but in normal mode.

However, not many buyers in the budget segment were willing to overpay about a fifth of the cost of the car for the life-saving coolness in Samara

“Nine” with air conditioning (exotic!) was tested by various European publications

Cars equipped with air conditioning were not supplied to the domestic market, with the exception of rare “thieves” exceptions. Surprisingly, the list of importing countries of Samara “with a snowflake” includes not only Mediterranean Italy, but also... the United Arab Emirates! Of course, buyers in Samara and other countries with hot climates like Israel and Egypt also liked the air conditioner.

Japanese kits were installed in small batches in Samara until the mid-1990s. Then, on the one hand, the time came when VAZ simply had to survive, and the cost of the Japanese kit, taking into account the constantly falling ruble, was simply astronomical. On the other hand, in the West by that time the G8 was already looked at as a car from the last decade, the interest in which could not be revived by any linings or air conditioners.

Nowadays, such a factory air conditioner for the Lada Samara is a real artifact, because only a few hundred cars were equipped with it, of which only a few have survived to this day. One of the kits was purchased, restored and installed on his V8 with the nickname ELECTRONICA by the already familiar Evgeny Karpunin - on the 32nd anniversary of the start of production of the VAZ-2108, we tested his car , which the owner himself calls Safari.

Unlike the “early stock” Safari, at Electronics Zhenya adheres to the opposite concept, having installed on his VAZ-21083 1999 almost a complete set of the rarest “chips” for the carburetor Samara with a high panel. Indeed, in addition to the air conditioner (or rather, before it), he installed a microprocessor ignition system and a “digital” instrument panel . The car itself is worthy of a separate conversation, or rather, a close acquaintance in the form of a test drive.

About choosing a car air conditioner

We list the main parameters that the owner of a VAZ 2114 should focus on when choosing an air conditioner:

  • operating voltage - 12 volts;
  • temperature of the air supplied - from 7 to 18°C;
  • power consumption - from 2 kilowatts;
  • type of refrigerant used - R134a;
  • lubricating fluid - SP15.

All of the above parameters correspond to air conditioners manufactured (model 2115F-8100046–41);

They are installed by almost all VAZ 2114 owners.

Installing air conditioners from other cars is extremely rare, since a lot of problems arise with them. In particular, the piping system in such an air conditioner may be either too short or too long. Therefore, it will have to either be built up with something or cut off.

The fastening and sealing system of the “non-original” air conditioner will also have to be seriously modified, and it is far from certain that the modification will be successful and the resulting system will retain its tightness. New ventilation holes will likely have to be cut into the dashboard, which will inevitably raise questions when passing the next inspection. All these points make installing air conditioners from other cars impractical, especially if stores have ready-made solutions specifically for the VAZ 2114.

Characteristics of climate control equipment

Most climate system models are similar in parameters. All of them are designed for use on specific car models. The main condition is sufficient power of the motor and generator. The following characteristics can describe the Frost air conditioner on the VAZ-2114:

  1. The compressor is driven by a pulley on the crankshaft. One belt drives the generator and compressor.
  2. Allows you to maintain the temperature in the range of 9-18 degrees.
  3. The difference between the temperature in the cabin and outside is 5-12 degrees.
  4. Per hour productivity is about 300 cubic meters. meters.
  5. The entire system operates on 12 Volt DC.
  6. Net power 2.1 kW.
  7. Freon R134A is used as a refrigerant (one of the most popular, it is used in all refrigeration equipment).
  8. In addition to freon, SP15 oil is poured inside.

General rules for connecting an air conditioner

The connection diagram for the air conditioner to the on-board network may vary depending on the selected device model, so it is not possible to write out a single “recipe” for connection. You will have to check the device instructions for details. Nevertheless, there are several rules that are common to all air conditioners.

  1. The evaporator unit is always connected first. Power is supplied to it either from the cigarette lighter or from the ignition unit.
  2. There must be a fuse in the above section of the circuit (and in the case of “August” air conditioners, a relay included with the device is also installed there).
  3. The air conditioner “ground” is always connected directly to the car body.
  4. Next, a capacitor is connected to the network. A fuse is also required in this area.
  5. After this, the condenser and evaporator are connected to a button installed on the dashboard. By pressing it, the driver should hear the noise of the fans in the evaporator and condenser. If the fans are working, the circuit is assembled correctly.

Installing an air conditioner with a conventional evaporator

The cooling device with a conventional evaporator is a radiator with a fan, but otherwise consists of the same components as other car air conditioners.

It is possible to “tune” the interior with an air conditioner from another car. For example, from a Chinese-made C class sedan - BYD F-3.

In a built-in model, it is necessary to completely dismantle the partition. Then disassemble the heater housing and install the evaporator in the air duct, next to the heater radiator.

In this case, the flow of cold air will be distributed from the standard air duct. The flow rate will be controlled by the factory-installed cabin fan speed controller.

  • We separate the evaporator from the stove block. We cover the cut site with a plate (plastic or metal), and seal the joints with automotive sealant;
  • The air duct and pipe are extended with a corrugated or rubber hose with a suitable diameter;
  • The “snail” is fixed to the entrance window for air intake from the street;
  • The assembled evaporator is installed in the passenger compartment on the passenger seat side and is attached to the body stiffener;
  • For the pipes, a cut is made with a grinder in the partition of the engine compartment;
  • We install the heater and connect the evaporator to the stove.

After this, the parprise panel is returned to its place and the system is closed using main hoses. Then they lay the wiring and connect the device to the on-board electrical network.

About refilling the air conditioner

After installation, the air conditioner must be recharged. In addition, this device will have to be refilled at least once every 3 years, since up to 10% of freon can leave the system within a year, even if the circuit has never been depressurized. Freon R-134a is now used everywhere as a refrigerant.

And to pump it into the air conditioner you will need special equipment, for which you will have to go to a spare parts store.

And you need to buy the following there:

  • set of couplings and adapters;
  • hose kit;
  • R-134a freon cylinder;
  • pressure gauge

Refueling sequence

Let us list the main stages of pumping freon into the system.

  1. There is a plastic cap on the low pressure line in the air conditioner. It is carefully cleaned of dust and opened.
  2. The fitting located under the cap is connected to the hose on the cylinder using the adapter included in the kit.
  3. The car engine starts and idles. The crankshaft rotation speed should not exceed 1400 rpm.
  4. The air conditioner turns on maximum air circulation throughout the cabin.
  5. The freon cylinder is turned upside down, the tap on the low pressure adapter slowly opens.
  6. The filling process is constantly monitored using a pressure gauge.
  7. When cold air begins to flow into the car interior and the hose near the adapter begins to become covered with frost, the refueling procedure ends.

Installation of Halla air conditioner in Lada 2110

Despite the fact that when the question of choosing a car arises, people most often pay attention, first of all, to driving performance, fuel consumption, cost and availability of spare parts and consumables, and other similar points. Especially if the budget for purchasing an iron horse is somewhat limited. But comfort itself, it turns out, takes a kind of second place.

Air conditioning in a Lada 2110 car: is it important?

Car air conditioning is a necessary guarantee of comfort in the car. Only with its help can trips in the hot season be not only comfortable, but also safe. This is especially true for cars that are black or another fairly dark color.

In addition, you don’t have to open the windows in your car and enjoy air-conditioned, pleasant, fresh air filtered from dust and exhaust.

And without unnecessary road noise, especially if there is sound insulation.

But as soon as you open the window slightly, alien, often unpleasant odors, noises, alien music and other irritating sounds of road cacaphony immediately penetrate into the cabin.

Air conditioning is especially necessary on long trips, for example, long distances.

And not only for passengers, but also for drivers, especially when it comes to large vehicles, such as trucks or buses.

This not only greatly facilitates their work, but also reduces fatigue, makes it possible to work comfortably and calmly, and most importantly, significantly reduces the risk of road accidents.

But air conditioners are also a necessity for ordinary passenger cars. Indeed, in the conditions of modern cities loaded with traffic jams, it is possible to create a safe environment in the car only by using air conditioning in the heat.

What to do if there is no air conditioning in the car?

Of course, it is better to buy a car immediately equipped with a climate system. But this is not always possible. And some cars, in principle, do not include such units in their configuration. Of course, this primarily concerns trucks and special equipment. But Russian-made passenger cars, as a rule, are not equipped with air conditioning.

About installing climate control

In short, installing climate control on the VAZ 2114 is for enthusiasts. Ordinary owners of “fourteenth” models do such things extremely rarely, limiting themselves to a simple air conditioner, the installation sequence of which is given above. The reason is simple: installing climate control on a car that is not the newest is not economically feasible.

To do this, you will need to purchase electronic heating system control units. One or two (depending on how many control zones are planned to be installed). Then they will need to be connected to the on-board network, which will require major changes to be made to it. Not every driver can do this task. Therefore, you will need a specialist whose services are very expensive. Taking all this into account, the owner of a VAZ 2114 should think: does he really need climate control?

So, it is quite possible to install an air conditioner on a VAZ 2114 on your own. All you need to do is buy a ready-made device at any auto parts store and carefully study the installation instructions. Difficulties can arise only at the stage of refilling the air conditioner. Therefore, you should only refill this device yourself as a last resort. If possible, it is better to entrust refueling to professionals with the appropriate equipment.
