The right side of the dimensions of the VAZ 2114 does not light up

Like all not new cars that have been removed from the production line a long time ago, second-generation Samaras are subject to minor breakdowns over the years, which, among other things, affect lighting devices. For this reason, many drivers are faced with the fact that the rear lights on their VAZ 2114 do not light up, which can lead to dangerous situations on the road if the problem is not solved in time.

Rear dimensions of VAZ 2114

Features of the operation of dimensions on the VAZ 2114

Being the ideological heir of the first generation, the “fourteenth” inherited from it many technological solutions, including external lighting devices. Thus, the dimensions on the VAZ 2114 are located in the corner areas of the body at the front and rear, which, according to technical regulations, are included in the general blocks of lamps and headlights.

At the same time, there are several features that should be noted when describing the side lights on the VAZ 2114:

  • on/off is carried out by a button in the exterior light control module;
  • when the lights are on, the switch is illuminated by a green indicator diode;
  • The rear lights of the VAZ 2114, unlike the front ones, light up in red, in accordance with Russian road safety standards.

A dedicated fuse block is responsible for the correct operation of the side lamps on this Lada, which can be found in the engine compartment next to the engine. Accordingly, most often motorists who notice non-functioning dimensions on the left or right side of the car are faced with a failed fuse.

The easiest way to diagnose the failure of fuse F10, since it simultaneously acts as a warning lamp, whereas if a pair of dimensions on the left side of the car is not working, fuse F11 will most likely have to be replaced.

Fuse blown

Two fuses F12 and F13 are responsible for protecting the low beam power circuit in the “fourteenth”. Each of them is responsible for a separate headlight. When using a car for a long time with the headlights on, the wiring begins to heat up, this is especially aggravated in the heat, which increases the resistance of the wires and, consequently, the current in them, and the increased current leads to a blown fuse.

The fuse must be replaced with the same rated current as was previously installed. From the factory, the rated current of the low beam fuse is 7.5A.

Causes of malfunctioning rear lights

Troubleshooting a situation with non-working side lights is the primary task of the car owner, as this not only creates a dangerous situation on the road, but also, in the end, is fraught with a fine from the traffic police.

To find out why the dimensions of the VAZ 2114 do not light up, you need to focus on three main factors:

  1. Burnt out lamp.
  2. Loose contact of the power wire.
  3. Broken wiring leading to the gauge.

The first case is the most common, and the problem is solved by simply replacing the light bulb, fortunately, they are sold everywhere and cost little money.

You can confirm the second reason without disassembling the device by simply tapping on the size: the moment you press it to the contact, the lamp will light up, and vice versa, it will go out in the free position. If disassembling the device did not reveal any oxidation with carbon deposits, a burnt-out lamp or a loose terminal, but the rear marker of the VAZ 2114 still does not light up, we can talk about faulty wiring.

Replacing a broken light bulb

To repair the rear lights of a VAZ 2114, you need to follow a number of simple recommendations:

  • turn off the vehicle's power supply;
  • open the trunk, remove the decorative trim;
  • Squeeze the latches and remove the contact panel of the entire flashlight;
  • press down the faulty lamp and turn it counterclockwise to remove it.

Next, it is advisable to “ring” the lamp with a tester to make sure that it was its malfunction that was the cause of the problem, after which it should be replaced with a new analogue, and you can begin assembling the lamp in the reverse order.

Some Lada owners, faced with the fact that the dimensions on their VAZ 2114 do not work, do not bother and change the entire headlamp assembly - especially since they are not so expensive. This can be considered a convenient solution, since such a replacement eliminates for some time the possibility of failure of other lamps in the flashlight, in addition to the marker lamp.

In some situations, the breakdown of the dimensions does not represent a complete non-functionality of the lights, but simply a weaker glow, which indicates a problem with the supply of current to the contacts. To fix the problem, it is enough to clean the entire contact group in the control unit under the hood, and if that doesn’t help, you will have to check each group leading to the rear light separately.

Oxidation of contacts

The contacts on the lamp are often exposed to moisture, especially during the rainy season, which often affects their oxidation. An oxidized contact increases the conductivity resistance or may completely make contact impossible, due to which the voltage will not reach the lamp, and this will lead to the inoperability of the car's low beam.

Oxidized contacts must be cleaned and replaced.

Additional Tips

Sometimes VAZ 2114 owners are faced with the opposite situation, when the rear lights themselves work, but the indicator on the power button does not: this is almost always a sign of a faulty wiring in the interior panel. You can deal with the problem by removing the entire key block and thoroughly wiping its contacts.

In general, the side lights on this VAZ model should not often fail, since the contact pads for their fuses were specially increased in width in order to ensure a tight connection.

In addition, experts advise that in frequent breakdowns of dimensions there is a malfunction in the mounting block itself or its electrical circuit. Such a problem must be eliminated as soon as possible to eliminate the risk of a wiring fire.

Finally, you should pay attention to the tightness of the entire rear light unit and prevent moisture from getting inside, which can easily cause the lamp contacts to sour.

Car parking lights are classified as signal lights. On modern cars, they act as signals indicating their presence on the side of the road or in a parking lot, as well as the size of the object. The rules for operating vehicles and traffic rules establish that the driver is obliged to indicate obstacles in the form of a car in the dark when stopping or parking by turning on the side lights. And when there is fog, the side lights turn on together with the fog lights. There are front and rear dimensions.

    Dimensions of VAZ 2114

    The side light signals on second-generation Samaras, which include the VAZ 2114, are located in accordance with the regulations in front and behind the car, two lights on each side of the car, closer to the edge, next to the turn signals.

    1. The front side lights are white, the rear lights are red. The front ones are located in the headlight block, the rear ones are located in the taillight block.
    2. The side lights are turned on and off by pressing the “side light switch” key, which is installed in the exterior lighting switch block. The keys are located in the central part of the instrument panel above the on-board computer display. When the side lights are turned on and the side light bulbs come on, a green indicator lamp lights up on the button.
    3. There is a side light fuse installed in the side light circuit. It is located in the mounting block located in the engine compartment under the hood. There are two fuses, one for each side of the side lights. Fuse F10 is located in the circuit of the left side dimensions, it also controls the operation of the warning lamp on the instrument panel, fuse F11 is the right side dimensions.

    Why don't the lights light up?

    Malfunctions that occur in the operation of side lights worry every motorist because it makes it difficult to use the car at night. After all, the traffic rules clearly state the requirements when stopping the car and turning off the ignition at night to indicate the car with illuminated side lights. Failures in the side light circuit can manifest themselves in different ways.

    • One of the side light bulbs does not light up. The most likely cause is a burned out light bulb. Less common problems with poor contact are oxidation or poor connection. And very rarely - a breakdown in the wiring to the contact group of this light bulb. Although rare, this also happens. If the light bulb burns out, it needs to be replaced. To do this you need:

    Rear lights on VAZ 2114 do not light up

    When both side light bulbs on one side of a car, left or right, fail, the reason is always clear. The fact is that the safety block contains one fuse responsible for each side. It is necessary to replace the corresponding fuse and the problem will be eliminated.

    At the same time, there is a constant discussion on the Internet on forums about whether the front lights on a VAZ 2114 don’t light up or why the rear lights on a VAZ 2114 don’t light up. Quite a lot of opinions and different experiences are expressed. If we summarize all this, we can draw the following conclusions.

    The side lights of the rear hemisphere are located in the rear light block, in which a generally recognized disease is constant oxidation and corrosion of the contact groups. For preventive purposes, it is necessary to constantly monitor this board.

    Please tell me the dimensions do not work anywhere, only on the instrument panel the low beam works and the license plate light works. The fuses are intact and the track is also what could it be

    Jumper in the fuse block. It is also called the “side light fault monitoring relay.” Try changing it, it will probably go away!

    No power to the chip(

    Replace the relay in the black box

    the front ones are “parallelized”. Roughly speaking, the right is powered from the left. The branching of the wires occurs in the mounting block.

    PARALLELED BUT SEPARATED RELAYS

    I have one relay, one fuse)

    THE PROBLEM WITH THE REAR WAS SOLVED BY REPLACING THE HEADLIGHTS WITH OSVAR (later we will tell you in detail about the replacement and obstacles on the way), BUT THE FRONT STILL DOESN’T BURN (

    I had this kind of garbage today, the fuse seemed to be intact, I changed it and everything worked

    Is there power to the fuses?

    Hello. The symptoms look like a mounting block. If the fuse is intact, then it is. You need to take it off, open it and look. Fourteen have this disease.

    Hello) yes, I’ve already encountered www.drive2.ru/l/9719498/, my installer was constantly flooding before, in the end it oxidized and I had to install a new one, I don’t think the reason should lie in the new one

    if the bulbs and previous ones are intact, then the relay for monitoring the health of the bulbs remains, located in the mounting block under the hood in the air intake compartment on the left. This relay is also called a centipede. Either it died or contact was lost.

    I'll try to change it tomorrow, thanks

    you can pull out this relay, turn on the dimensions and place jumpers one by one and check whether the dimensions will light up. jumper from pin 7 to 8 - left front, from 7 to 1 - left rear. jumper from 10 to 11 - right front, from 10 to 9 - right rear. Jumper 4 and 5 + pressed stop - brake lights. if everything burns like that, then the relay is to blame, it’s in the firebox

    Thank you, your advice helped me) I disassembled the entire mounting block, but the reason is just over there)

    In the mounting block, remove and reinsert the lamp health monitoring relay (which is the largest), the contacts there often oxidize. If this does not help, you need to replace the lamp health monitoring relay.

    Pulling it out and inserting it didn’t help, I’ll try to replace it tomorrow, there are no other options yet, thanks

    trick, the board is most likely the same garbage, I changed it to OSVAR

    But if 2 dimensions fail at the same time, then the front and rear left ones, and even the license plate illumination, then the problem lies in the mounting block. Namely, in fuse F10, which is responsible for the left dimensions, interior lighting, license plate lighting, and panel lighting. But keep in mind that fuse F10 is directly responsible for the left dimensions; if others do not work for you, then look for the corresponding fuse in the article Fuses.

    We analyze the fuse block, namely the blocks of all tires to the fuse and relay block. Most often they oxidize, become detached, and make poor contact. We clean the contacts and connect them well. Don’t forget about the contact group on the headlight block; perhaps the contacts there have also oxidized.
