How to replace a low beam lamp on a Lada Granta

Replacing the low/high beam lamp on a Grant

All modern lamps become cloudy over time, which in turn affects the loss of power and luminous flux. Therefore, to feel confident on the road at night, it is advisable not to wait until the light bulb in the headlight burns out on its own, but to periodically replace the bulbs.

When replacing headlight bulbs on a Grant, they give preference to either Philips X-tremeVision H4 lamps or OSRAM H4 12V 60/55W lamps, because they have proven themselves to be the best in terms of light output.

More tips/instructions for repairing Grants can be found here.

There is no need for tools, because you don’t need to dismantle anything, the only thing is to remove the terminal from the battery and put on gloves.

Since the low/high beam lamps on the Grant are halogen, when replacing them you should not touch the glass bulb with bare hands, since grease stains can cause local darkening of the glass and the light bulb will quickly burn out. It is recommended to replace lamps on Grant using clean gloves. Well, if, through carelessness, you touch the glass part of the lamp with your fingers, then you need to wipe it with a clean rag soaked in alcohol.

Step-by-step instructions for replacing a headlight bulb

  1. You will need to remove the plastic cover from behind the headlight unit. To remove it, you need to press on the tongue and carefully pull it out (be careful not to break the guides).

Remove the plastic headlight cover

  • We pull off the block with electrical wiring from the lamp terminals. The terminal should come off without any effort.
  • Next, you will need to remove the rubber seal (grab the tongue and pull).

Remove the rubber seal To be able to remove the low/high beam bulb from the headlight, press the sides of the retainer made of a spring and remove them from the reflector hooks.

Squeeze the latch on the sides

  • Now you can remove the H4 bulb from the Lada Granta headlight and carefully (holding it by the iron part) install the new low beam bulb back into the headlight. We perform a similar operation on the other headlight.
  • It is worth noting that if only one lamp has burned out, then you need to change both because even if you install a lamp from the same manufacturer, the lamps will differ in the brightness of the light flux.

Which parts to choose

Granta, whose lamps are easy to find in any auto parts store, is equipped with modern optics that illuminate the road surface in accordance with all GOST requirements.

When choosing lamps, it is important to observe the following parameters:

Installation of parts that do not meet the requirements often leads to melting of the base, transparent cover or headlight housing.

Lamps used on Grant:

  • low/high beam – H4 55/60W 12V;
  • direction indicator block – PY21W 12V/21W;
  • running light/marker – P21 5/21W 12V.
  • A special feature of the H4 format is a combined bulb for near and far illumination. Each type of light has its own thread. If one of them burns out, the second continues to work.

The factory in Grant comes with lighting elements from Philips or Osram, depending on the batch.

The following options are suitable as a replacement:

Japanese Koito and Korean MTF are expensive, so owners rarely choose them to replace the original ones.

    What does the market offer?

Below are several options for halogen lamps of different price categories that can be installed on Grant:

    • EVO VISTA. Halogen lamps from China, which have a completely transparent body, the color temperature of their light is 3200K. It will cost $25.

    • OSRAM BLUE IPER. Halogen lighting elements made in Germany, with a declared color temperature of 5000K. The balloon is painted blue. The price is about 17 dollars.

    • PHILIPS H4 COLORVISION. A set from a German manufacturer, characterized by bright light and the ability to choose the color of the glow (blue, green, yellow). The price is about 35 dollars.

    • KOITO DENSO VWHITE. Products "Made in Japan", with transparent bottles and a color temperature of 3700K. They are characterized by high light intensity. Price - about $28;

    • STANDARD LIGHT COULD. Korean light bulbs with a transparent bulb, the color temperature of which is 2900K, which allows them to be used in headlights with plastic housings. They will cost only $6.

    • FARO ULTRA. Cheap version made in China. The base is transparent, the characteristics of the products are ideal for installation on the Grant. Cost - 4 dollars.

And these are just a few types of halogen lamps. In general, the range of such lighting devices is very large and allows any car owner to find a suitable option both in price and in terms of quality of work.

    Review of work features

First, let's look at the simplest case and figure out how to replace a low-beam lamp on a Grant, then we'll tell you how to troubleshoot some problems, and we'll describe how to adjust the light yourself; the instructions are so simple that anyone can handle it.

    Replacing light bulbs

The low beam lamp of the Lada on Granta is universal, that is, it serves both high and low beam. The 60/55 Watt option is used (that is, the power of the high beam spiral is 60, and the low beam is 55), the lamp type is H4. This is the option you need to purchase before starting work.

The process itself is quite simple, and replacing the low beam bulb on a Lada Granta is done very quickly:

    • First, remove the terminal from the battery and fix the hood in the open position.
    • Next, press the latch of the plastic plug on the headlight and open it.
    • Under the cover you will see a block with wires; it must be carefully disconnected and moved to the side.

Important! Do not pull on the wires as you may break the connections. Always grip the pad body.

    • Next, remove the rubber plug, which protects the case from moisture and dust.

    Shutdown problems

Very often you can come across this question: the low beam headlights on the Lada Granta do not turn off, what should I do?

In fact, there may be several reasons, we will look at them:

    • The low beam relay on the Grant is located in a common block, the diagram below shows its location, you can try to hit it lightly, this often solves the problem, but you still need to change this unit, especially since its price is low. This is the most common option, but far from the only one.

    • The second option is a malfunction of the steering column switch; you can check it very simply: remove the trim from the steering column and disconnect the block of wires that go to the switch unit. If after this the light does not go out, then everything is fine with it; if it goes out, this unit needs to be changed.
    • Finally, the third option is a short circuit, which can occur due to wear and tear of the elements or the use of too powerful light bulbs. To check, move the chip on the headlight. If the light blinks, then this is the reason, you need to unscrew two screws to disassemble the housing, most often the low and high beam contacts are closed, just disconnect them and put them back as they should be.

    Selecting a light bulb

When you go to buy a new light bulb for your Lada Granta, you will first have to study the markings on the standard product. You need to find the part where H4 is listed. In this lighting device, the power is limited to 55 W, which is considered a significant criterion in choosing an element. Lighting parts designed to generate high beams have a power slightly higher - 60 W.

It is worth taking into account the brand of the manufacturer who offers us the device in question. When purchasing, be sure to check how the light bulb you choose works. Professional advice from the auto shop manager provides additional assistance.

Note. Low beam bulbs for the Lada Granta are considered universal, therefore, they serve for both high and low illumination. The options used are 55 (low beam) and 60 W (high beam, respectively), type H4. This is exactly the option you need to stock up on to change the light fixture.

In addition, it is worth carefully inspecting the product to ensure that there are no weak contacts or poor soldering. Such malfunctions are unacceptable, since when driving on uneven roads they can cause the light beam to go out, and this is very unsafe.

Where to get rare bulbs for Lada Granta headlights

I wondered what kind of bulbs are installed in the headlights of the Lada Granta. I opened the owner's manual for the car, where it says that the low and high beam lamp is H19. What kind of lamp is this? I haven’t seen these in stores; I read on the Internet that H19 is difficult to find on sale. Therefore, I decided to look at the car to see how it is removed and looks like.

You need to have at least one light bulb in stock. It may burn out on the road at night and require replacement. And if you don’t know what kind of lamp it is, then it’s even worse. Therefore, I decided to remove the light bulb from the headlight of the Lada Granta in order to look at it and find out the removal procedure.

    Looks like a standard connector.

    1. I removed the block with wires.
    2. I took off the rubber casing that was around it.

It is difficult to remove and is installed tightly.

    3. Without the casing it looks like this.

He pulled the lamp out of the headlight.

I put two different brands of lamps next to each other: on the left - H4, on the right - H19. Not much difference is visible.

They are similar to each other, except for the little things. The diameters of the flasks are slightly different. I measured the diameter of the seat - 38 mm for both lamps.

When installed, they are supported by three antennae and a rim. On H4 there are 2 more small tendrils that will not allow it to fit into place normally. I bent them with pliers.

It looks like it should fit. H4 has one thinner antennae, while H19 has one thicker one. I waited until dark to check. The H4 lamp stood up as if it were original.

To replace lamps, we do not need any special knowledge or skills, just “direct hands” and free time.

Instead of conventional lamps, you can install LED ones, but you need to check the functionality of the lamps in the lanterns to see if they will short out due to polarity.

Nuances of the work, possible problems

Finally, about some nuances of the replacement. In general, the operation is not difficult, but sometimes problems arise.

When installing halogen lamps, please note that touching the bulb with your hands is not allowed. During installation/dismantling, the element should only be held by the base.

If you touch the bulb, fingerprints will remain on its surface, which will lead to darkening of the glass and rapid failure of the element.

Therefore, during the replacement process, you should wear clean gloves. If you accidentally touched the flask with your fingers, any remaining traces of contact should be removed. And for this, clean rags and alcohol come in handy.

Work should be carried out at positive temperatures. Some car enthusiasts who carried out replacements in cold weather simply broke the cover latch. This happens because plastic hardens in the cold, becomes brittle and breaks easily.

Another problem that Lada Granta car owners face when replacing is the sticking of the rubber boot to the headlight housing.

In this case, you can’t do anything special and all that remains is to apply force, but everything must be done carefully so as not to tear the rubber element and also not to damage the lamp.

If the low beam lamp on the driver's side has burned out (further operation of the car is prohibited by traffic rules, and this will result in a fine), and there is no replacement element, then you can swap the tabs with the headlights. After this you can continue moving.

    Lamps for increased visual comfort

Although the standard lamps with a yellowish dull tint in the running light system may still remain in good working order, many Lada Granta owners strive to immediately replace them with halogen ones with bright white light. The reason for this is to increase visual comfort. It is also noted that this can emphasize the exterior profile of the car.

Comparison of DRL lamps - the photo shows a standard (installed from the manufacturer) and a luxury lamp

Halogen bulbs from the following manufacturers are very popular among car enthusiasts:

    1. Philips.
    2. Lighthouse.
    3. OSRAM.
    4. IPF.
    5. General Electric and some others.

Like other modifications, halogen lamps for DRLs still have the same characteristic number of disadvantages. First of all, this is increased heating and, because of this, the shelf life decreases with increasing power. For this reason, when choosing such sources for the Lada Granata, you should take into account that they can be produced in two versions:

The first option meets all legal requirements, but at the same time has average durability. The second one is more economical and, although it does not shine as brightly, it lasts longer.

Characteristics of standard tires on LADA Granta Liftback

The premium and most expensive modification of this car is considered to be the Lada Granta Liftback, equipped not only with a 1.6 engine, like the Sport package, but also in the most complete versions, the manufacturer installs a 5-speed automatic transmission on it.

Belshina tires are installed on domestic cars, namely the Art Motion model, since the concern has long had business relations with its Belarusian partner. These tires are installed in sizes 14 and 15 inches, and the most prestigious option is equipped with tires from the world famous brand Continental with a seat diameter of R16. As for the standard version, the model’s rims are shod with tires with dimensions 190/65/R15:

    • The sole width of 195 mm is sufficient for dynamic driving around the city; the car does not fall under its own weight, since the large area of contact with the road surface greatly reduces the specific pressure per cm² of soil. The high profile provides a very powerful air gap between the disc rim and the road, which acts as a natural shock absorber.
    • A profile with a height of 65 mm obliges you to install tires only with a reinforced side cord in the summer, because when driving fast and performing maneuvers at high speed, deformation of the tires is possible, up to their depressurization.

This height of the side surface allows you to install high-quality all-season tires and completely forget about the annual re-shoeing of the vehicle.

    • The size of the R15, of course, is too small for driving outside the city. But together with the 65 mm profile, the total diameter of the wheel assembly is 15 x 25.4 65 65 = 511 mm, which is quite enough to provide normal ground clearance for a compact liftback.

The luggage compartment volume for the LADA Granta Liftback is significantly larger than that of the sedan. If the driver, when purchasing a car, plans to transport cargo, for example, when traveling to the country, he should install tires with a higher load index in order to provide them with a sufficient margin of safety. In other cases, the size of the wheels on the Granta can be safely selected in accordance with the recommendations of AvtoVAZ.

    Opening access to the headlight

The peculiarity of how to change a low beam lamp on a Grant is that access to the light device is closed. Removal of halogen lighting equipment is done from the inside of the headlight. The driver will have to climb under the hood from the power unit side. In this case, space limitations must be taken into account. To make extraction more comfortable, you can get rid of some motor elements that get in the way.

For example, on the left side you can unscrew the lock of the air filter housing, on the right side you can remove the cover to protect the engine. After which the filler cap is returned to its original place to fill the oil.

It is not necessary to remove these elements to gain access to the headlight. Motorists with extensive experience will have no problems getting to the lights.

    We provide access

The peculiarity of the work on replacing lighting elements on a Lada Granta is that the bulbs are removed from the inside of the headlight (under the hood on the engine side), and the space where they are located is limited.

To improve the convenience of work, you can remove some elements from the power unit to make it easier to get to the light sources.

So, to improve access to the left lamp (on the driver's side), you can unscrew the fastening of the air filter housing and move it to the side.

As for the right headlight, you can remove the engine protective cover from this side by unscrewing the oil filler cap and pulling out the clips. In this case, after removing the engine lining, the oil filler cap must be replaced.

Please note that it is not necessary to remove these elements from the engine. If you have the skill and the driver has already carried out the replacement and knows the specifics of the work, then it is quite possible to carry out this operation without removing any elements from the engine.

    Types of lighting

Low beam bulbs differ in their level of energy consumption, brightness and other characteristics. Highlight:

    • halogen models. They are classic for “Grants” and represent a modern type of incandescent lamps with a base. They increase the temperature of the filament to 3000 degrees, and the flask contains vapors of halogen gases. They have a low cost, but provide good visibility and an average operating period;
    • xenon They are characterized by a bright white glow, similar in its characteristics to daylight. The flask of such products contains inert gases through which an electric discharge passes. They have minimal dimensions and a long service life;
    • LED These products have not yet gained popularity as main lights, but diodes are widely used as a secondary light source due to their brightness and extremely long service life.

Lada Granta headlights, with daytime running lights

Daytime running lights can be a good alternative to low beam lighting. They come to the aid of drivers who do not like to turn on low beams during the daytime, as this significantly depletes fuel reserves. Running lights are less powerful, but on the road they clearly indicate a car in traffic, while reducing the load on the car generator.

    When to change lamps

Original light bulbs in Grant can last from 2 to 4 years. Replacement is necessary when signs appear:

    • reducing beam power;
    • a sharp increase in brightness;
    • burnout of one of the threads.

The brightness of the Granta headlight is reduced due to burning of the filaments and smoke on the inner surface of the bulb. In this case, the flow of light is significantly reduced: the reflector cannot collect the required amount of light and direct it onto the road. The malfunction occurs at dusk, rain and on unlit sections of the road.

When falling into a hole, drivers notice a sharp increase in the light power in one of the headlights. This indicates a partial break of the filament and an excess of temperature at the filament point. Such a lamp needs to be replaced, as it is not capable of working for more than one day or even a few minutes.

If the thread breaks, the Grant optics go out and show no signs of operation until the burnt-out part is replaced.

When operating a Grant with a non-working lighting source, traffic police officers may issue a fine of 500 rubles.

How to replace low beam lamps on a Lada Grante: step-by-step instructions.

    1. The wire terminal is disconnected from the negative terminal of the battery.

    2. By pressing the latch on top, the cover is removed from the headlamp housing.

    3. The block with wires is disconnected from the lamp terminals.

    4. Take out the rubber seal (here you just need to pull the tab).

    5. The spring clip is pressed out by simply pressing its ends with your fingers, and then moved away from the lamp.

    6. The lamp is removed from the headlight housing and a new one is installed in its place - in the reverse order of the steps described above.

How to change the low beam lamp on a Lada Granta

Replacing a low beam bulb is a skill that every car enthusiast should have. If you have never changed a lamp before, we recommend that you carry out a test replacement so that you are prepared for this “on the road”.

Moreover, on the Lada Granta the lamp is changed quickly and not difficult, as, for example, on the Renault Megane 2, where you need to turn the wheels, remove the protective cover, and replace it by touch.

No special tools are required to carry out the replacement.

    1. Turn off the ignition, headlights and parking lights.

    2. Open the hood of the car.

    3. Remove the protective plastic cap.

    4. Remove the chip with wires. To do this, pull it to the side. Additional force may be required.

    5. Next, remove the rubber plug. It is attached on the sides with three grooves. There are tabs on the plug, you need to pull them. The plug may get caught in the center of the lamp, so do not pull too hard, but try to remove the plug with smooth movements from both the headlight and the lamp body.

    6. Bend aside the “whiskers” that secure the lamp. There are two of them. One goes down, the other goes up.

    7. Remove the headlight, gently pull it towards you, and it will come out of its seat.

    8. Install the new lamp in reverse order. After replacement, headlight adjustment is not required.

    Useful tips

According to traffic rules, it is prohibited to drive a car without a driver's headlight.

Therefore, if the low beam on the driver’s side burns out, it is necessary to move the working lamp from the right headlight to the left.

The low beam may not work not only because of a burnt-out lamp, it may also be working properly. The fuse may have blown or the headlight relay may have broken.

The main reasons for LBS burnout on Grant

Most often, Granta owners complain about the fairly frequent failure of low beam lamps. Indeed, they most often require changing names, which is understandable: after all, they work almost constantly.

If previously car owners turned on the lights at night and in inclement weather, now, according to the rules, they must always be on while driving. Lamps do not last forever, and if a cheaper analogue is purchased to replace the fairly good standard OSRAM light bulbs, the problem may become a regular one.

LED lamps for Lada Granta SMD 2835

The second common reason for bulbs burning out in front and rear headlights is moisture getting inside. The culprit is usually cracked or poorly fitting rubber seals located between the headlight housing and the glass. The presence of a problem is indicated by periodic fogging of the headlight from the inside.

Halogen lamps may not light due to improper installation. During this procedure, you must avoid touching the glass surface with your fingers.

Traces of grease significantly reduce the life of the light bulb. In addition, although in rare cases, the lamps do not light up due to too high voltage supplied by the car's alternator or poor terminal contact.

LED halogen lamps on Lada Granta H4 (prohibited for use)

In general, as you were able to notice, there may be more than enough reasons why the low beam on the Lada Granta stopped working. Let's now figure out in what cases you will need to replace the lamps, and in which cases you should contact a specialist.

    LED running lights

The indicated process of replacing lamps on a Lada Granta does not imply that the owner has super abilities, but is associated with some minor nuances.

    1. Replacing the running light bulb with LED analogues involves performing it simultaneously in both headlights.
    2. When installing LED devices, it is necessary to observe the polarity of their connection.

Attention! If you do not take into account the need to ensure polarity, this leads to instant failure of the lighting device itself. In addition, the fuse protecting the DRL circuit falls into the risk zone.

To check the polarity of the lights on the LADA Granta, you should use a tester with the voltmeter mode turned on. Before removing the used lamps, turn on the DRLs. When the contacts of the receivers receive voltage, we bring the voltmeter probes (red and black) to their surface. We look at the readings and, if we find a negative value, this indicates a violation of the order (polarity) of the connection. In this case, the digital tester displays a “minus” on the screen, and the analog one “drives” the arrow below “zero”.

Replacing the low beam lamp on a Lada Granta

    • Causes of failure
    • Types of lighting
    • How to replace lighting

All modern light sources in cars become cloudy over time. This, in turn, becomes a decisive factor in the issue of maintaining the power of the luminous flux. In order for the Lada Granta driver to feel safe while driving, you should not wait until the light bulb burns out - you need to change the light sources once every certain period.

For many car enthusiasts, including Lada owners, it is a paradoxical fact that the low beam on their Grant is not on, but the high beam is functioning. Statistics say that every third car owner encounters such a breakdown. A breakdown can be detected at the most inopportune moment, for example, when you need to switch from high beams to avoid dazzling drivers on the road.

This is what the low beam lamp looks like for the Lada Granta

    Causes of failure

There are several main reasons why low beam bulbs fail:

    • the lamp itself burned out. If the light does not turn on, then this breakdown option is the first to come to mind. If you have halogen lighting sources installed, then one of the two filaments in them may come off, which will contribute to breakdown. To replace a broken bulb with a base, it will be enough to turn off the ignition, open the hood, and remove the protective box on both sides of the headlight. After this, take out the contact group, remove the retaining springs, and then the burnt-out product. To prevent it from burning immediately after installation in the headlight, it should be wiped with alcohol. You should not handle a new flask without gloves or napkins: there is always small amounts of grease or dirt on your hands, which can impair the performance of the product;
    • The fuse has blown. It provides the necessary voltage to the electrical circuit. To fix it, you need to open the car fuse box and find the one you need using the pinout. If the jumper in the fuse has blown, you will be able to see it with the naked eye. Next, you need to remove the broken part and replace it with a new one. If you constantly encounter fuse failures, it is quite possible that your Lada has problems with the wiring itself. To eliminate them, it is recommended to contact specialists, since faulty electrical wiring can cause a fire;
    • other non-standard reasons. Sometimes product breakdowns can be caused by, for example, broken headlight cleaners.

    How to replace lighting

When replacing light bulbs, Granta holders give preference to products from Osram or Philips due to the good price-quality ratio and high luminosity. No special tools are required for replacement.

For replacement it is best to use Osram or Philips lamps

The car enthusiast will only need gloves, as well as napkins and alcohol (if gloves are not on hand). Replacing lamps does not involve dismantling components - you just need to remove the terminal from the battery.

Gloves or wipes soaked in alcohol are required to avoid accidentally contaminating the bulb of the new lamp during installation by touching it with dirty hands. The algorithm of actions when changing the lighting source is as follows:

    1. The plastic cover behind the headlights needs to be removed. To do this, press on the tab and then carefully remove it without damaging the guides.
    2. Pull out the plastic headlight cover.
    3. Pull the block on which the electrical wiring is located from the lamp output. You should be able to remove the terminal without effort.
    4. Remove the rubber seal.

Remove the rubber seal as shown in the figure

  • Press the spring clamp antennae on both sides, moving them away from the reflective hooks in the headlight.
  • Unscrew the headlight reflector latches

    • Take out the light bulb from the Lada Granta.
    • Install the new device, holding it by the iron part, back into the Lada headlight.

Remember, if one lamp burns out, you will still have to change two. This is due to the difference in light flux even between products from the same manufacturer.

Features of installation of LED DRLs

If you couldn’t find devices for the Lada Granta without bases, then you can stop at using conventional products. Here you will need to manually remove the base, and its released contacts will need to be adjusted to the mounting holes.

Once the procedure is completed, replaced devices should not be thrown away. This is explained by the need to comply with regulations governing regulatory and technical requirements for aspects of daylighting, which requires a visit to the technical center. If this is neglected, then there is a possible risk of prohibiting the operation of a car with lighting equipment modified in this way during the next technical inspection.

Today, the market network is able to offer a lot of LED devices for LADA Granta, with different lighting spectrums. However, regulations say that only white or yellow tints are permissible for DRLs, and other alternatives are prohibited.

Devices based on LED technology, including DRL lamps, differ from halogen lamps in having relatively lower energy consumption. This will further reduce the load on the battery. If you forget to deactivate the DRL at night, you will still minimize the risk of draining the battery.

I drove these myself for 2 years, installed fog breakers, and it got even better.

allseason supposedly installed yellow ones, I like the different lamps, there were some transitional models, my relatives had one, one Osram lamp, the other Philips, and I read something like this on the internet many times

I installed Allseason before the new year (available in the BZ) - I tested it on two excursions during the New Year holidays, both times with bad weather: the first - a snowstorm, the second - a half-damp track with ice and snow suspension. The result is good light.

    I agree 100%. I installed these on Megan’s near-range H7, now I’ll install the same on the far-range H1))

Before this I installed Osram night breaker plus (64193NBP02B) on an old Passat, on the whole I was happy, then I drove on a grant with standard Philips, after a trip to the village along a dirt road one of the lamps burned out. I installed Osram yellow ones, I don’t remember the model, but they were very praised, they say they shine very well at night in the rain. I drove in the rain, fortunately we have such weather regularly. I will say that nothing is visible, neither in the rain nor in the wet asphalt. I drove off-road again, hit a larger spot, and the lamp burned out on the other side. Replaced it with Philips H4 3700K X-treme Vision +130%, the remaining Philips and Osram became a repair kit. I drove for three months, went off-road again and the left lamp burned out! Not available individually anywhere, set 1200 RUR. (however, I look at the ones that were installed on the Passat now in general are made of gold steel) I bought a kit and installed it, now the repair kit contains three lamps of different colors: Philips yellow-white, Osram bright yellow, and Philips Extreme bright white.

Selection and replacement of low beam lamps on the Lada Granta

Good visibility on the road, especially in the dark, is a guarantee of safety. A correctly installed lighting system is extremely important for a car; the issue of uninterrupted operation of high and low beam headlights on a Lada Granta car is always relevant.

In today’s article we will talk about the malfunctions and causes of failure (burnout) of low beam lamps on Lada Granta cars, we will look at what to look for when choosing, and I will also tell you step by step how to replace this undoubtedly important element of the car.

In general, as you were able to notice, there may be more than enough reasons why the low beam on the Lada Granta stopped working. Let's now figure out in what cases you will need to replace the lamps, and in which cases you should contact a specialist.

    When replacement is required

Replacing low beam lamps on a Grant may be necessary if they burn out. But, if such a malfunction occurs very often, or along with the low beam, any other part directly related to the electrical system disappears or stops working, then in this case it is better to contact a specialist.

The process of replacing low beam lamps on a Lada Granta

In most cases, the problem lies in the car's wiring or insufficient voltage supplied by the battery. It will be extremely difficult to find the cause on your own without the proper skills.

    Features of choosing LBS

Standard low beam lamps that are installed on the Lada Granta 60/55 H4: where 60/55 is the power of the low beam (55) and high beam (60) in wattsH4 is the type of base. Therefore, please note that this lamp is used for both low and high beam headlights.

In addition, the low beam lamps on the Lada Granta differ in many respects. The most popular of which are:

    1. Philips X-treme Vision (the brightest, give white light) Features declared by the manufacturer: bright white light, increase the lighting area in front of the car by 45 m, high-quality quartz glass. One of the highest brightness levels and incredible comfort in the dark.
    2. Philips LongLife EcoVision (inexpensive, extended service life) Features: high-strength quartz glass, resistant to temperature changes and vibration, high internal pressure - powerful light.
    3. Bosch Pure Light (extended service life) Features stated by the manufacturer: up to 90% more light, exclusive design with silver plating and blue sector.
    4. Osram Original Line (good illumination area) Features: OEM quality, improved visibility up to 130%.

    Tips for using the car

It is important to prevent serious problems from occurring on your Grant; we suggest following generally accepted rules.

    1. Systematic inspection. The performance of the light elements should be checked before each trip. Inspect the area under the hood at least once every 4 weeks. Close attention should be paid to firmly fixing wires and connections. Often problems occur due to loose wiring in the car that rubs against moving parts.
    2. Checking the status of devices. When you hear extraneous sounds when you turn on the lights (for example, relay clicks), it means that the steering column switch or button is not working well. It’s better to deal with the problem right away, without waiting for the unit to fail.

Attention! You cannot drive a car with broken headlight glasses, as moisture and debris will begin to get inside, and, accordingly, the internal elements will deteriorate.

    1. Use of quality spare parts. When choosing light bulbs, you should not rush to extremely high power, this will not significantly increase the brightness of the light, but the wiring and other parts of the system will be subject to stress. Sometimes this leads to short circuits. But there is no point in saving on quality, because low cost indicates low reliability, which can provoke frequent replacement of the device.
    2. Lean renovation. When carrying out work on your own, it is important not to disturb connections, wiring and other elements.

It is quite possible to carry out work related to replacing light bulbs, eliminating minor nuances, and adjusting light without the involvement of specialists. In addition, you will save money and perform quality repairs, because you are doing this exclusively for yourself. Listen to the car and correct any problems that arise in a timely manner.
