I wondered what kind of bulbs are installed in the headlights of the Lada Granta. I opened the owner's manual for the car, where it says that the low and high beam lamp is H19. What kind of lamp is this? I haven’t seen these in stores; I read on the Internet that H19 is difficult to find on sale. Therefore, I decided to look at the car to see how it is removed and looks like.

You need to have at least one light bulb in stock. It may burn out on the road at night and require replacement. And if you don’t know what kind of lamp it is, then it’s even worse. Therefore, I decided to remove the light bulb from the headlight of the Lada Granta in order to look at it and find out the removal procedure.

Looks like a standard connector.

I removed the block with wires.
I took off the rubber casing that was around it.

It is difficult to remove and is installed tightly.

He pulled the lamp out of the headlight.

I put two different brands of lamps next to each other: on the left - H4, on the right - H19. Not much difference is visible.

They are similar to each other, except for the little things. The diameters of the flasks are slightly different. I measured the diameter of the seat - 38 mm for both lamps.

When installed, they are supported by three antennae and a rim. On H4 there are 2 more small tendrils that will not allow it to fit into place normally. I bent them with pliers.

It looks like it should fit. H4 has one thinner antennae, while H19 has one thicker one. I waited until dark to check. The H4 lamp stood up as if it were original.

When installing halogen lamps, please note that touching the bulb with your hands is not allowed. During installation/dismantling, the element should only be held by the base.

If you touch the bulb, fingerprints will remain on its surface, which will lead to darkening of the glass and rapid failure of the element.

Therefore, during the replacement process, you should wear clean gloves. If you accidentally touched the flask with your fingers, any remaining traces of contact should be removed. And for this, clean rags and alcohol come in handy.

Work should be carried out at positive temperatures. Some car enthusiasts who carried out replacements in cold weather simply broke the cover latch. This happens because plastic hardens in the cold, becomes brittle and breaks easily.

Another problem that Lada Granta car owners face when replacing is the sticking of the rubber boot to the headlight housing.

The size of the R15, of course, is too small for driving outside the city. But together with the 65 mm profile, the total diameter of the wheel assembly is 15 x 25.4 65 65 = 511 mm, which is quite enough to provide normal ground clearance for a compact liftback.

The luggage compartment volume for the LADA Granta Liftback is significantly larger than that of the sedan. The peculiarity of the work on replacing lighting elements on a Lada Granta is that the bulbs are removed from the inside of the headlight (under the hood on the engine side), and the space where they are located is limited.

halogen models. They are classic for “Grants” and represent a modern type of incandescent lamps with a base. xenon They are characterized by a bright white glow, similar in its characteristics to daylight. The flask of such products contains inert gases through which an electric discharge passes. They have minimal dimensions and a long service life;

Daytime running lights can be a good alternative to low beam lighting. They come to the aid of drivers who do not like to turn on low beams during the daytime, as this significantly depletes fuel reserves. Running lights are less powerful, but on the road they clearly indicate a car in traffic, while reducing the load on the car generator.

When to change lamps

Original light bulbs in Grant can last from 2 to 4 years. Replacement is necessary when signs appear:

reducing beam power;
a sharp increase in brightness;
burnout of one of the threads.

The brightness of the Granta headlight is reduced due to burning of the filaments and smoke on the inner surface of the bulb. According to traffic rules, it is prohibited to drive a car without a driver's headlight.

Therefore, if the low beam on the driver’s side burns out, it is necessary to move the working lamp from the right headlight to the left.
