The anti-theft system is quite universal and the procedure for installing it is not very different for different cars of any model year - be it the old Chevrolet Niva, VAZ Lada Vesta or the new Great Wall Safe and Renault 2022.

Installation begins by turning off the vehicle battery. The ignition is also turned off and any energy consumers are disconnected.
The process begins with the installation of the main module with a microprocessor, which is installed so that only the car owner has free access to it. Typically, such a reliable location is considered to be plastic trim - the unit is placed behind the dashboard, audio system or storage compartment. Connect the device so that there are no other electronic devices near it that could cause interference, sources of high humidity or overheating. Fix the module with self-tapping screws or plastic clamps quite firmly.
The siren is placed under the hood of the car, but so that it is located at a distance from the cylinder block and exhaust manifold, which can overheat the device and damage it. Place the alarm with the horn to the side or down, which will prevent moisture from accumulating inside. It is important to place the alarm so that a potential criminal cannot notice it, and so that he does not have access to the wires.

The signal receiving and transmitting device together with the antenna is installed on the rear or windshield. The strength of the transmitted signal greatly depends on the height of its position. To automatically start the engine based on temperature, a sensor is placed under the hood of the vehicle. It is cut into the pipe through which the cooling liquid circulates. But, at the same time, high-quality fixation plays an important role, which should protect the device from being washed away by antifreeze.
The blocking relay is mounted at a distance close to the ignition switch, but so that it is invisible to outsiders. The relay does not require any wiring, making it easy to place correctly.
The Valet service button is installed so that it has maximum free access, but at the same time it remains invisible. Place it close to the driver's seat for a quick emergency press. Mask the key with black electrical tape.
Limit switches are located on the hood so that they are not accessible if the engine compartment is closed.
The installation is completed by laying the electrical wiring. If the engine autostart function based on temperature is successfully activated, the key fob emits two short melodic signals, and the icon with the image of a key on the key fob display becomes active.

Auto start on alarm clock

When this function is activated, the car engine will automatically start at the specified time. To activate the function, perform the following steps:

the key fob cursor is moved to the icon with the image of a clock and button No. 1 is briefly pressed, after which the car emits one light signal, and the key fob emits one melodic sound;
the key fob display shows the time after which the engine will automatically start according to the alarm clock;

The wiring also suffers from high humidity, to protect it from which it is additionally insulated. One of the main signs of this breakdown is when the LED light often goes out.

The appearance of error 51a on the key fob indicates that the Slave mode was accidentally turned on. To get rid of it, turn off this mode, which you can do either with your own hands or at a service center. The latter option is desirable if one of the key fobs operates in tag mode.

In cases where the system requires complex repairs, including the need for disassembly, it is recommended that this be done at a car service center.

It will not be possible to start the car by autostart with the Starline A93 alarm system if the ignition is active, the hood is open, the parking brake limit switch is open and the brake pedal is pressed. On automatic transmissions, the process occurs when the lever is placed in the parking position. The owner must then configure the operating parameters using the remote control.

Setting up autorun involves adjusting the threshold value of the complex's response. The owner of the car selects the engine starting temperature step by step from the range -27... -3°C. The adjustment is made by pressing the buttons with triangle icons; the programmed temperature value is displayed on the display.
Confirm the selected mode by long pressing the security start button (before the buzzer activates). The remote control will sound 2 more beeps through the remote control speaker, and the icon with a background image of a thermometer will remain active on the display. The mode provides a minimum time between warm-ups of 1 hour, the duration of the motor operation is user-configurable. The number of restarts with warm-up is limited only by the ambient temperature and the capabilities of the battery.
To disable autorun, you need to select the active icon on the display and briefly press the security key. After 2 light pulses are given by the alarm, the autostart will be disabled.

How to change the warm-up time

The user can forcefully change the operating time of the power unit only when starting the engine remotely. To extend the engine operating time, you need to hold down the security button. The key fob will give a double melodic sound, and the car will operate with an external light alarm. The adjustable parameter is shown on the display; each press extends the warm-up by 5 minutes. The design of the alarm allows you to set the operating time to 30 minutes. It is impossible to remotely reduce the engine warm-up time.

Additional equipment for signaling of the specified brand can be produced by third-party companies. The prices for such products are lower than the cost of the originals. Ask yourself the question, what is the benefit of buying non-original products? It seems that its only advantage is its low price. Well, the quality, if the cost is low, can hardly be better than what is provided in the original version.

Chinese devices differ in the following:

The operating distance is significantly lower than it should be;
There is feedback in the key fob, but it displays the state of the car incorrectly (or does not display it at all);
From the second point it follows that the car can be opened, but the owner will never know about it.

If it were not for point “2”, everything would be quite acceptable. And so, it is possible that the product of Chinese industry will have to be modified. But the result, as you understand, is not guaranteed in such cases. Make a choice.

Firmware methods depending on the alarm model

After the service button has been found, the process of recording key fobs into the alarm memory should begin. Depending on the models, one firmware method should be used.

The need to link a key fob to the alarm system may arise for the owner of a car with the Starline security system for various reasons, for example, loss of the key fob. The procedure for programming the Starline key fob is quite simple, but it requires the user’s attentiveness and knowledge of a number of firmware subtleties.

Flip key fob

Many owners don't like to carry a heavy key fob on their key ring. It is generally not recommended to do this, since it significantly reduces the security of the car: having stolen or taken away the keys, the thief immediately gets the opportunity not to look for the alarm in the cabin, but simply turn it off or switch it to service mode. But recently there has been a fashion for embedding key fobs into a car key - on the Internet you will find offers for the sale of flip keys for various alarm systems, including for StarLine A93.

From the point of view of car security, this is more stupid than wearing a key fob on a chain. You should resort to this solution only if you are fully using the alarm capabilities - two-stage validation must be configured (entering a secret code using the car’s standard keys).

To convert the alarm key fob into a flip key, you will also need to disassemble the body of the car's standard key - you will have to remove the standard immobilizer chip from it so that the car can be started normally with a new key. We also disassemble the alarm key fob as described above.

First we replace the glass from the alarm key fob into the new key fob if the purchased key has just a slot instead. We carefully separate the glass from the panel using a thin knife. After this we rearrange the discharge blade. Next, we insert the boards removed from the key fob into the case and check whether the microbuttons on the board match the rubber buttons in the key. We find a free space for the immobilizer chip - it is desirable that it be as close as possible to the very tip of the key and be oriented in the same way as in the standard one. To secure the chip we use a glue gun. All that remains is to close the cover of the key fob, insert the battery, and check the operation of the buttons.
