How to unlock Starline A93 key fob on your own

If you still don’t know how to unlock the Starline A93 key fob, remember the following algorithm:

  1. Quickly hold down the first and fourth buttons (far left and right);
  2. The press should be short and simultaneous;
  3. The remote control will vibrate and the “KN BLOCK” icon will disappear from the display;
  4. Done, you have managed to unlock the keys.

Among all Starline alarm systems, the A93 modification is one of the most popular today. It harmoniously intertwines a large number of additional options, simplicity, ease of use and reasonable cost. As for auxiliary “goodies”, there are so many of them that most car owners are not even aware of them.

The ability to temporarily disable the buttons on the key fob is one of them, forgotten, but incredibly convenient. Below in the article we will tell you how to use it correctly.

Unlocking the Starline alarm system in the car

Even the most careful device owners are not protected from loss or damage to key fobs. It will not be possible to start the engine without complete blocking, although several options remain for entering the car.

Unlocking StarLine alarm

The starter of vehicles is often blocked due to the security system and its operation. The system will have to be turned off manually for everything to work fully again. The security system can block the engine under the following circumstances:

  • Powerful radio interference.
  • Shock sensor with incorrect settings.
  • The anti-theft system remote control is out of order.
  • Dead battery or lost key fob. Because of this, we also have to turn off the Starline alarm.

For emergency unlocking, you can use a complex shutdown or enter a special code.

As for the unlocking itself, it involves performing actions in this order:

  • Using personal keys to open the car. You need to look in advance where the Valet button is.
  • The engine state is inoperative, only the ignition itself is activated.
  • The Valet key is pressed three times until 20 seconds have passed. Some models allow the function to be launched four times.
  • Turn off the ignition. The user was able to disarm the modern system.

Typically, the anti-lock code consists of two numbers. They are entered not from key fobs, but from the Valet button, pressed repeatedly. Meeting time constraints is a common challenge that everyone faces.

The main thing is to remember that secret codes cannot include the numbers 0. Otherwise, you won’t be able to disable Starline.

Developers of StarLine systems choose the numbers 11 as standard. But the combination may change when new options are launched. It is better to study the features of the security system in advance.

Unlocking the Starline key fob

Protection against unintended actions is the main reason for manufacturers to develop locking modes. Usually, to do this, simultaneously press 1 and 4 buttons, or 2 and 4. The latter becomes the basis for disabling the Starline alarm.

First, the signal will sound in audio form, then appear in text form. Pressing buttons 1 and 4 at the same time most often leads to unlocking.

Remote engine shutdown

Starline A91 allows you to remotely turn off the car engine both to prevent theft (the interlocking circuits should in this case break the wiring sections necessary for the engine to operate, and not block the starter), and to terminate the autostart early.
In the first case you will need:

  1. Program function 8 of the service menu in advance (see procedure above) to value 1 or 2. In the first case, the engine, after turning on the “anti-robbery” mode, will be turned off the first time you press the brake pedal, in the second - immediately.
  2. To directly turn off the engine, simultaneously press and hold buttons 1 and 2 on the key fob.

Disabling the anti-robbery mode will require pressing button 2, as with normal disarming.

To turn off an engine running on autostart:

  • On the main key fob, press button 2 for a long time, then briefly press button 3.
  • The additional key fob does not provide the ability to turn off the engine.

Fuel pump blocking by alarm

The blocking relay in the Starline A91 system can be installed on the fuel pump power circuit. Accordingly, it may malfunction - the engine may not start at all or start for a few seconds and stall. If such malfunctions occur, it is necessary to check the corresponding relay for proper contact.

How to remove the fuel pump block

You can remove the lock by turning off the lock relay and connecting the wires directly.

It is also advisable for owners of Starline A94 and A96 systems to check the serviceability of the immobilizer bypass, which may be the cause of the malfunction. The likely problem is broken wires or inconsistent wire contact. In this case, you will need to check the cable for the relay contact and the fuel pump using a light bulb (12 Volts). The tester will not help here, because it will not show the presence of a bad contact. Often the problem arises from the fuel module plug, which must provide reliable contact.

Why does the alarm block the engine from starting?

An anti-theft alarm is a complex electronic system that has many options for connecting to the main control systems of the car, its own “brains” and several levels of protection against hacking. This is natural, since its task is to prevent criminals from stealing a car.

However, there is a second side to the problem: like any electronic system, the signaling system may not work correctly or fail. What causes this problem? Manufacturers of anti-theft systems and car repair specialists name several reasons for engine blocking:

  • emergency blockade in the event of an unsuccessful attempt to break into the car's locks by car thieves;
  • system software failure (including contact failure on the CAN bus);
  • malfunctions of electrical wiring, electrical connections or signal power supply;
  • malfunctions or insufficient voltage on the immobilizer key fob;
  • starter interlock relay failure.

All of the listed malfunctions are related specifically to the blocking of the car’s engine. In this case, the alarm unlocks the doors. What's next?

Door locking when driving

Some owners of the Starline A91, A63 or A92 complex have a problem when the system does not close the doors when moving or, conversely, blocks them even without receiving the appropriate commands or reaching a certain speed. If the doors do not close, then you need to check the limit switches - perhaps they are faulty or the contact has come loose. Because of this, the central unit does not receive the command and cannot block.

If the doors are locked forcibly, without commands or high speed, then this is a programming error or a glitch in the system. In this case, you need to visit a service center, where professional installers will sort out the issue and fix the problem.

How to disable door lock

The function of automatically locking doors when the ignition is turned on is not always useful and many owners tend to disable it. Deactivation of this option on the Starline A91 Keyless alarm system is carried out through the programming menu. To do this you need:

  • press the Valet button five times with the ignition off, and then turn it on again;
  • listen to five vehicle beeps confirming the correct transition to this mode;
  • select the appropriate programming table using the third button on the remote control;
  • select option No. 2 – automatic control of door locks;
  • set the required parameter (4 – disabled);
  • turn off the ignition so that the system remembers the commands.

Now every time the car is armed, the doors will remain open.

Key fob programming

Before registering the Starline B9 key fob, the user must install a working battery in the new communicator.

If you do not write the communicator code into the memory of the microprocessor module, the consumer will not be able to use all alarm options.

How to register a new Starline B9 Dialog key fob

In accordance with the B9 Dialog operating manual, in order to program a new communicator yourself, you need to perform the following steps:

You need to program the device with the ignition off, so if the system was turned on, it must be deactivated. To do this, the key is scrolled to the “Lock” position. The button to enter the service mode must be pressed seven times. If the location of the key is unknown, it should be checked with the anti-theft system installer. In most cases, the service button is installed under the instrument cluster and can be disguised in one of the bundles with standard wiring. Additionally, the installer could wrap its wire with electrical tape. Then the ignition system in the car is activated by turning the key in the lock to the “ACC” position. If the control unit is ready to reflash the communicator, the alarm siren will emit seven sound pulses. On the key fob to be registered, buttons 2 and 3 are pressed simultaneously. These elements must be held until the control unit accepts the code. This will be indicated by one siren signal and a melodic impulse from the remote control. Similar steps are performed in order to flash additional devices.

It is important that the time interval between binding is no more than five seconds, otherwise the alarm will exit the programming menu. After binding, you must turn off the ignition system by setting the key to “Lock” mode. The car's external lighting devices (parking lights or warning lights) will blink five times.

Video: binding the Starline B9 communicator

User Leonid Akimtsev in his video clearly showed the process of programming a key fob to control the Starline B9 anti-theft system.

How to attach a key fob to a Starline B9 Twage alarm

To record the remote control on the Twage model, you need to perform the following algorithm:

  • The ignition in the car is deactivated. The button to enter the alarm service mode is pressed seven times.
  • The ignition is activated - the key is turned to the “ACC” position. Upon successful entry into the programming menu, the alarm siren will emit seven sound pulses.
  • On the connected device, the first and second keys are “clicked” simultaneously. If the control unit accepts the code, the siren will play a single signal. These steps are repeated for each device, the time interval between recordings should be no more than five seconds. When pairing the second remote control, the siren will emit two beeps, the third - three, and the fourth - four.
  • The vehicle's ignition system is turned off. When successfully exiting the binding menu, the external lights will flash five times.

Deactivating sound on Starline alarm systems

The following instructions remain relevant for any model, including Starline A93:

  • They look for a key with an asterisk, then press it and hold it for a while. Usually this is the 3rd button on the left. After the appearance of sounds in the form of special signals, everything is released.
  • A screen will appear asking the user to select one of the available options. The 2nd button on the left indicates a locked lock. “Crossed out speaker” is the silent mode that is needed now.
  • Click on the star button. The input algorithm remains standard.
  • If the remote control does not work correctly, or the key fob is lost, you must use the secret Valet button. Its location is chosen by the user after consulting with a specialist.
  • You can completely disconnect one of the terminals from the battery to disable the function.

For what reasons may you need information on how to unlock the alarm?

Then flash the key fob to any alarm installation/maintenance service. A couple of days ago, about the same movie - some buttons were pressed in my pocket, the manipulations did not lead to anything. I turned to the specialists - it was just a bad Chinese battery, although it was new and according to the indicator it was normal. We changed it to another one, everything worked.

Unlocking the car may not occur due to various interferences that prevent the signal from the key fob from reaching the device on the car. Bring the key fob as close as possible to the device in your car that controls the alarm system and make another attempt to unlock the standard alarm. If the cause is not interference, your key fob may be faulty. The one-way communication key fob has an indicator light that lights up when you press any button. A dead device can be brought back into operation for a short time. To do this, you need to remove it from the key fob and deform it a little.

Emergency disarming of the security mode without a key fob

One of the main methods is applicable here - emergency or coded disarming. But you must know the location of the Valet key in any case; without this, using emergency mode is unacceptable. And you won’t be able to just walk up to the car, even if it’s a modern Starline A93 model.

The location of this Valet element is described in the instructions, or information can be obtained from the technicians who installed the system. In most cases, a place is chosen under the front instrument panels, or close to the safety block. The search may be based on the location selected for the LED indicator.

Reasons for blocking

Before you unlock the engine from the Starline alarm, you need to understand the cause of the problem. In most cases, difficulties begin due to standard breakdowns or unforeseen situations. These include the following:

  • dead battery in the control panel;
  • dead car battery;
  • breakdown of the security system unit;
  • finding the vehicle in places with high radio interference (for example, near an airport).

Coded shutdown

It is assumed that PIN codes must contain from 2 to 4 digits. The procedure has the following approximate description:

  • Using the ignition key to turn on.
  • The number of Valet presses corresponding to the first digit in the code.
  • Turn off the ignition.
  • Next, repeat the previous paragraphs for all numbers included in the code. The car alarm shouldn't break.

The system will be unlocked. The exact sequence can be obtained from the manufacturer's instructions. They will tell you how to turn off the alarm on your car.

How to turn off alarm systems of different models without a key fob: step-by-step instructions

Let's start by looking at the order for series A1, 9, 8, 4:

  • The machine door opens with a key. This is not an emergency method.
  • There is no need to start the engine, just activate the ignition.
  • Next comes the use of the Valet button. In the case of models 1 and 2, 4, you need to press three times. In others it is necessary 4 times, for at least 20 seconds.
  • Ignition off. If everything is correct, the systems are deactivated. The symbols should not appear.

In the case of other varieties, disabling is permissible only if there are secret codes. For A6 they do it like this:

  • The key is used to unlock the door mechanisms and insert it into the ignition. Starline A91 has a slightly different order.
  • Valet squeezes for 20 seconds, according to the instructions from the manufacturers.
  • The ignition turns off and turns on again. This means that the reset was successful.
  • Valet, pressed a certain number of times depending on the code and its content. The same applies to Starline A61.
  • Next comes the reactivation of the ignition. The system is deactivated. Sometimes it happens that the key fob is not disarmed. Then additional diagnostics are carried out.

Similar rules apply to owners of models A61, 91. But here you need to look closely at the turn signals. They must blink a certain number of times. Then the owner will receive confirmation that the actions were performed correctly. It's not that difficult to disarm a car without a key fob.

Disabling silent security mode

It is assumed that button 1 on the control device is pressed for a certain time. Pressing the second one will be shorter. The main thing is to perform the last action after the sound signal appears. The doors are unlocked after the turn signals blink twice. The lock icon on the remote display should disappear and the alarm should work normally.

Ways to reset (zero) the Starline alarm

Sometimes, in order to connect additional devices or carry out other procedures, a factory reset is required. It works like this.

  1. Turn on the ignition. Then press the Valet service button 10 times.
  2. Turn off the ignition. 10 signals will sound indicating that the car has entered the factory reset mode.
  3. Press the Valet key again and listen to another siren signal.
  4. Press button 1 on the key fob, going to the factory settings. A short sound will confirm the success of the procedure.
  5. Turn on the ignition to confirm the command. The side lights flash five times (see video).

What to do if the engine does not start after turning off the alarm?

If the system is deactivated, but there are malfunctions in the engine, certain actions must be taken.

  • Battery diagnostics from a battery, without a key fob.

Sometimes problems appear if the device fails or is simply discharged. The battery is carefully inspected, the case is checked separately for defects. The electrolyte level in the jars also matters. Working fluid is simply added if its deficiency is noticeable. If necessary, recharge the battery and check the voltage applied to the terminals.

  • Check the power unit. No emergency shutdown required.

It happens that the owners themselves break the engine during operation. Functionality testing is required for all elements of the system. This applies to high-voltage wires, spark plugs and distribution units, the so-called starter devices. The mechanism definitely needs to be replaced if cracks and other serious defects are visible. After this, repeat the removal.

  • Diagnostics of the immobilizer and its operation.

The operation of systems is often associated with conflicts between security and a standard-type blocker. In some cases, an immobilizer bypass module is installed. It's easy to throw it off too.

  • On the control unit, all connectors and wires are checked for integrity.

The conductor is immediately replaced if damage is noticeable in the insulation layer. Higher strength can be easily achieved by wrapping everything with electrical tape. Then the security works again.

StarLine security sometimes continues its work despite the correct execution of all sequences. Therefore, additional checks are required - on the quality of feedback and the condition of the batteries in the key fobs. Removing the connector from the antenna modules along with the reverse connection is performed in the following steps.

Rewriting the remotes themselves is another option to help solve problems. Sometimes the signal is interrupted due to interference present at operating frequencies. Rewriting sets everything to free frequencies. First, there are seven siren signals, then the lights flash several times. Then press buttons 1 and 2 on the remote control simultaneously until another signal appears in the form of sound. The other key is not used.

Hood lock

Advanced Starline B9 models have the option of blocking the engine compartment. This is necessary so that an attacker cannot get to the car battery, remove the wires or deactivate the sound siren. This relay is included, but if additional reliability is required, universal electromechanical locks can be purchased and installed separately. They are connected to the security complex via a special connector, interact with the control panel and can be connected to the central control unit of the complex.

Locking the Starline A93 remote control

The key fob of the Starline A93 complex has a key lock function. This option allows you to avoid accidentally pressing and activating functions. The remote control will not respond to commands and can be safely carried in a pocket or given to children. Locking the keys is very simple - you just need to briefly press the second and fourth buttons on the key fob. After this, the remote control will emit one beep and the screen will display “Block”.

How to unlock the Starline A93 key fob buttons

After turning on the key lock, the remote control will not respond to keystrokes. Therefore, if you need to disarm the car, you need to remove this function. Disabling the button lock on the Starline A93 system occurs after briefly pressing the second and fourth keys simultaneously. The key fob will play a signal once, and all buttons will become active again.

Methods for eliminating alarm blocking

To unlock the starline alarm you need to do the following:

  • Replace the battery in the control key fob. If after replacing the battery the vehicle does not respond to signals, then you need to try to open the car using the second key fob (if it is included in the kit).
  • Open the car using the key and turn off the alarm by pressing the Valet button (emergency shutdown of the anti-theft system).
  • Remove the terminals from the battery. In winter, the blocking of the security alarm is often associated with a low car battery. This can be determined if the lamps are dim, the car does not start and the anti-theft system does not turn off. In this case, to block the alarm, you must remove one of the terminals. After charging the battery, it is necessary to reprogram the control key fob.
  • Disable the anti-theft system. Most often, the unit is installed under the car control panel. To turn it off, you need to remove all the wires from the unit and start the car. If it doesn't start, it means some parts are blocked. To unlock them, you need to disconnect the wires going from the security system unit to the car wiring, and then connect the ends of the standard wiring together. After these steps, the vehicle should start.

Unlocking Starline alarm

Measures taken in the absence of startup

The car alarms offered to car owners have a variety of service functions and an additional blocking system is installed on the unit specified by the customer. This could be a starter, fuel pump, engine control unit, automatic transmission, etc. If any of the engine blocks or components suddenly refuses to function, then it is necessary to determine the cause of the malfunction by connecting diagnostic equipment. Checking compression, sensors, fuel pressure and spark generation directly related to engine starting provides the final direction to look for a starting fault in the alarm system.

One of the reasons for the lack of starting may most likely be a malfunction of the standard anti-theft system (immobilizer).

The principle of operation of the immobilizer, in contrast to the external anti-theft system, is based on data exchange with the control unit, allowing or prohibiting engine starting without additional interlocks. Permission to start the engine is carried out only after successful initialization (reading the code) of the attached black key. If the car is not disarmed, then when you try to start the engine, the control unit will block the ignition system and the operation of the fuel pump.

Data exchange between the immobilizer and the electronic control unit occurs via K‑Line, so it is possible to disable it by simply connecting it to the diagnostic block of scanning devices with the ignition on.

The fact that it is the external alarm system that is blocking the engine start can be determined by the blinking of the control indicator, information on the key fob monitor, the constant operation of emergency lights (side lights or headlights), freezing and inoperability of the control panel buttons and the operation of the sound bell.

StarLine starter lock

The alarm system has additional protection systems that block the operation of the starter and protect it from failure. For example, if the owner remotely started the engine, and then got into the car, inserted the key into the ignition and turned it, the starter will not operate.

This function in the Starline A91 complex is set through the programming menu. Car owner first:

  • with the ignition off, press the Valet service key five times;
  • the ignition is turned on, the car emits five sound and light signals;
  • short presses of the second and third keys select the corresponding programming table (SF);
  • button three is pressed for a long time and then briefly until a melodic signal appears;
  • the corresponding function No. 12 is selected and parameter No. 4 is set;
  • exit and memorization of parameters occurs automatically, you just need to turn off the ignition.

The starter blocking relay is included in the alarm kit and is connected separately via additional channel 5.

How to disable the starter lock on the alarm

Disabling the starter lock on the alarm can be done in several ways.

  • Replace the power supply element of the control panel. After this, the signals will become stronger and the transceiver will be able to receive them without distorting the dialogue code;
  • using the Valet service button and the standard key. In this case, the security functions are removed in the emergency mode described above;
  • Remove the terminal from the battery and start it with another battery. The fact is that the alarm power comes to the positive terminal and when it is removed, the security functions are deactivated;
  • turn off the central control unit of the system. As a rule, installers place it under the front panel. Once all connectors are removed, the alarm stops working. After connecting the wires of the standard wiring, you can start the car without problems. But this option is temporary and the problem must be corrected with the help of qualified specialists at a service center.

Tips and tricks

If attempts to remove engine locks and start the engine are unsuccessful, then there is a high probability of a serious malfunction or failure of individual alarm elements. The result is random activation of engine locks, which cannot be disabled using standard methods. The faulty car must be taken to a service station, as removing the lock will require professional intervention.

The specified delivery can be carried out by tow truck. Another affordable way is to call an auto electrician who works on-site. Note that the final costs of paying for the service of on-site engine unlocking, disabling the car alarm, emergency opening of locks, etc. often turn out to be less than delivering the car to a service center by tow truck and paying for repairs at a technical center.

Disabling the anti-theft system without a key fob

Sometimes there are cases of loss of the Starline security system control key fob or its complete malfunction. Then you need to turn off the alarm manually, namely:

  • Coded deprotection.
  • Normal emergency removal.

To use these methods, you need to know exactly the location of the secret Valet button (switching the car to the service state). This button is most often located near the control levers, in the area of the safety block, behind the glove compartment, near the steering wheel or under the car panel.

Secret Valet Button

If you do not find the service button, then you need to contact the company where the alarm was installed or call the previous owner of the vehicle.

To disconnect a car from the security system without using a key fob, you need to use the correct algorithm. It depends on which starline anti-theft system is installed on the car. Let's take a closer look at the algorithm for unlocking the anti-theft system, depending on the model.

Starline A1, A2, A4

Disabling these security system models depends on the operating method of programmed option No. 5. If you use the shutdown method without entering an individual password, then you need to do the following:

  • Open the door.
  • Start the ignition for a few seconds.
  • Press the service button 3 times.
  • Turn off the ignition.

If you use the disabling method by entering an individual password, then you need to do the following:

  • Open the door and start the ignition for a few seconds.
  • Press the service button several times (the number of presses is equal to the first digit of the individual password).
  • Turn off and then restart the ignition.
  • Press the service button several times (the number of presses is equal to number two from the individual password).
  • Turn off the ignition.

Starline A6

To disarm a vehicle on which this anti-theft system is installed, you need to:

  • Open the door and start the ignition.
  • Press the secret button several times (the number of presses is equal to number one of the personal password).
  • Turn off and restart the ignition.
  • Press the secret button several times (the number of presses is equal to number two of the personal password).
  • Turn off the engine.

Starline A8, A9

If your car has an alarm system of this model, then to unlock it you must do the following:

  • Open the vehicle door and turn on the ignition.
  • Press the secret button 4 times within a few seconds.
  • Turn off the engine.

If the programmed method is automatic arming, then after turning off the engine you need to start it again for at least half a minute, and then turn it off.

Starline B6, B9, A62, A92, B62, B92

Disabling these models depends on the state of the programmed option No. 9. If you use the shutdown mode without entering a personal password, you need to do the following:

  • Open the vehicle door.
  • Start the ignition and press the secret button 3 times within half a minute.
  • Turn off the engine.

If the automatic arming mode is selected, then after stopping the engine you need to turn it on again for 15 seconds and then turn it off.

If you use the method of entering a personal password, you need to do the following:

  • Open the car door and turn on the ignition.
  • Press the secret button the required number of times equal to the first digit of your personal password.
  • Turn off the engine.

If a method is programmed with entering a 2 or 3-digit password, then you need to start the ignition again and enter the necessary numbers by pressing the secret button. These steps must be repeated two or three times.

If for some reason the car could not be disarmed, then you need to contact the service department.

Programming security and service alarm functions

We looked at the main security alarm functions available in the key fob setup mode, but these are not all the available functions of the system. To configure each alarm parameter to your liking, you must go into programming mode. To do this, you will need the Starline A93 programming table and perform the following steps:

Starline a93 programming table

  1. Turn off the ignition and press the service button 5 times.
  2. Turn on the ignition, 5 siren signals and a characteristic sound signal from the key fob will sound, confirming entry into the programming mode.
  3. By short pressing buttons 2 and 3, you need to select the “AF” item (to set up security and service functions) and press the third button, first long, then short. In this case, the display will indicate the first function of the programming table number 1.
  4. To exit the programming mode, you must turn off the ignition by turning the key, or without touching anything, wait for the system to automatically exit this mode.

For table number 2 (programming engine starting functions), the process of setting up Starline A93 occurs in a similar way. The only difference is that in the third paragraph you need to select “SF” instead of “AF”.

Using an example, let's look at setting the “programmable neutral” function. To do this, follow steps 1-3 to enter the programming mode according to the second table. Then, by briefly pressing buttons 2 and 3, select function 15, which is responsible for the “programmable neutral” mode. Next, using those buttons 2 and 3, you need to select a function option, for example, 3, and the screen should display the value “15-4”, where the number 15 means the serial number of the function, and the number 4 is the option for performing the function.

The most common type of vehicle protection against theft is an alarm system. Today there is a large selection of security systems with different additional functions and levels of reliability. One of these is the starline alarm system. But, no matter how reliable the anti-theft system is, first of all it is electronic and is prone to malfunctions.

Unlock methods

There are several ways to unlock the Starline signaling system. For each device model they are slightly different, but the general principle remains the same.

Methods for disabling the alarm:

  • Replacing the battery in the key fob. If after this the problem has not been resolved, then you should try to disconnect the car from the Starline alarm using a spare control panel.
  • Emergency shutdown. In this case, you need to open the car door and press the Valet button.
  • Removing the terminals from the battery. This method is often used in the cold season, when battery discharge is not considered a rare occurrence. It consists of removing one of the terminals and recharging the battery. After completing the work, you will need to re-program the control panel.
  • Disabling the system unit. To carry out this operation, you need to remove all the wires from the block and try to start the car. If you cannot do this, you will have to disconnect the cables coming from the car wiring to the anti-theft system unit.

How to remove the lock without a key fob

Sometimes a situation arises in which you need to remove the lock without the car alarm key fob. This can happen if the control panel is lost or an emergency occurs. Different Starline models have their own ways of disabling the protection, so all car owners need to know exactly the type of alarm installed.

Starline A1, A2, A4

If the anti-theft system has worked and the starter is blocked, then you need to be able to manually disable the protection. For models A1, A2 and A4, the method of unlocking is the same. It involves performing the following actions:

  • A key is used to open car doors.
  • After this, turn on the ignition and leave it for 20 seconds.
  • During this time, press the Valet key 3 times.
  • Then turn off the ignition and wait for a confirmation sound signal.

For this type of security complex, a unique unlocking method was invented. It is different from all the others, so it requires special attention.

Sequencing:

  • Open the vehicle doors.
  • Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to the “On” position.
  • Then find the lock button and press it several times. The number of clicks must correspond to the first digit of the set code.
  • After this, turn off the ignition.
  • Enter the second digit of the PIN code in the same way and turn off the engine.
  • As soon as the device emits sound and light signals, the unlocking is complete.

Starline A8 and A9

Older security system models are not as reliable as their modern counterparts. This is also related to the simplicity of the unlocking process. It consists of the following stages:

  • With the help of keys they get into the car interior.
  • Start the ignition.
  • Over the next 20 seconds, press the Valet button (8 times with breaks of at least 1 second).
  • Turn off the engine.

After this, a loud signal will sound, which will indicate that the protection has been removed.

Is it possible to restore the key fob?

How to set the time on starline alarms?

Below we will look at what to do if the alarm key fob breaks.

Keychain repair

You can try to repair the control panel by checking the condition of the internal elements. To do this, you need to open the case, which is connected with screws and latches

You need to be careful when opening the device, as the latches break easily. The printed circuit boards inside must be free of plaque, dirt and oxidized areas.

If the board is severely damaged, then a rational solution would be to replace the remote control with a new one.

To independently check the integrity of the alarm key fob elements, the user must have good knowledge of electrical engineering.

The check looks like this:

  1. Clean the surface of the board with a stiff brush. Using detergents on your own is not advisable because it can damage the elements (capacitors).
  2. Check the integrity of the circuits with a multimeter, first of all, the power circuits and elements with a different color from the rest.
  3. Ring the circuits of the buttons and the control diode, if it is included in the remote control design.
  4. If a break is detected, solder the damaged track or replace the damaged element. Electronic components can only be replaced using special soldering equipment, which is available at service centers.

Below are photographs of the soldering of the tracks of the Pandora key fob. The owner had complaints about the range and slow response of the system to button presses, but after repair the defects disappeared.

If the buttons on Starline and other models fail, you can try to repair the device yourself.

The step-by-step instructions are as follows:

  1. Open the battery compartment and remove the battery.
  2. Unscrew the fastening screw located under the battery.
  3. Using a knife or thin screwdriver, separate the halves of the housing. The back part must be removed.
  4. Remove the printed circuit board and inspect the buttons. Place the torn one aside.
  5. Place the board with the display down and carefully glue the torn button back to its original location using cyanoacrylic glue. The key is glued to the standard plastic legs; the contact parts must be clean.
  6. Solder the four contacts of the button with a low-power soldering iron. If necessary, additionally solder the pins of all buttons.
  7. Place the board in the upper part of the case, snap the lower part into place and tighten the fastening screw.

When struck, elements on the boards may bounce off, but you can install them in place yourself. Often, after a fall, damage to the inductor occurs.

Sequence of repair actions:

  1. Remove the battery compartment cover and remove it from the remote control.
  2. Unscrew the screw securing the halves and separate the housing.
  3. Remove the electronic boards and analyze them for torn elements.
  4. Solder the parts into place and secure them with hot glue. It is recommended to replace torn elements with new ones, since tearing off damages the conductive parts.
  5. Reassemble the product.

If the remote control has stopped responding to button presses or has lost connection with the main unit, then you can try setting it up. In the design of old-style alarm remote control panels (pre-2005-2007), there is often a trimmer capacitor that you can try to adjust.

To do this you need:

  1. Enter programming mode (in accordance with the instructions for this alarm).
  2. Check the operation of the button. If there is no signal, then you need to turn the capacitor regulator a few degrees (up to 5).
  3. Perform settings. If the system does not respond to the key fob, turn the knob again. It is recommended to try adjusting the capacity several times.

If setting up the key fob does not help, then the owner has no choice but to buy a new remote control or make a copy of the existing one.

Where can I make a duplicate?

Restoring a lost or damaged alarm key fob by making a duplicate is not possible.

If the main or auxiliary key fob is lost, you can try to find and select a control panel from a similar alarm model. You should not rely on your own knowledge when using this device; it is better to seek the help of a specialist.

Key fobs are sold by specialized stores of automobile security systems and installation centers. You can try to order devices for a number of alarm systems (Starline, Pandora) through official representative offices or the manufacturer’s website.
