Many car enthusiasts often ask how to replace the Starline alarm key fob if it was purchased but not registered in the memory of the main unit? Actually, the alarm unit stores information about four key fobs (maximum), but if you register a new one, you will have to register all those intended for use. For different Starline signals, the recording procedure is the same, but there are still certain differences. We provide universal instructions, paying attention to individual nuances where necessary.
The most common breakdown problems and their solutions
The most common reasons are:
- The control panel is dropped from a height, after which it does not work at all or partially. Depending on the height from which the keychain fell, the case may be destroyed or the quartz may be shaken off. If you can still turn off the alarm using a remote control with a broken case, then if the quartz of the transceiver device is damaged, the key fob becomes inoperable. The best solution would be to replace the remote control with a new one.
- The remote control has been dropped into water or exposed to rain. Water floods the printed circuit board and shorts the tracks, which leads to complete or partial inoperability of the device. If the remote control gets wet, you must immediately remove the battery, as there is a risk of filling the internal volume of the key fob with electrolyte. Then the device is disassembled and the contact tracks are wiped with alcohol. If the functionality of the buttons does not return, then it is necessary to ring the circuit with a tester. The faulty button is replaced with a new one. If tracks or elements on the printed circuit board are damaged, the key fob will have to be replaced.
- Sudden discharge of the battery due to an internal short circuit in the element itself or in the key fob, due to which the device stops working. In urban environments, you can purchase a new battery and replace it. If discharges occur repeatedly, you should check the operation of the remote control, eliminate the cause of the short circuit, or purchase a new device. If the problem occurs far from populated areas, you should remove the battery from the key fob and turn off the alarm.
- The key fob may stop working due to the destruction of the buttons or a section of the printed circuit board from physical impact. You can try changing the button in the service, but more often you have to change the entire remote control.
- The key fob may lose contact with the unit located in the car. This often occurs in the Tomahawk and Alligator systems due to channel desynchronization. Repairs will require re-programming the key fobs into the system.
- A temporary loss of functionality of the key fob is called freezing. Observed after attempts to start the engine from a dead battery or in the presence of radio frequency interference. In this case, it is recommended to turn off the system in emergency mode, drive a certain distance and check the operation of the key fob. It may be necessary to re-register the remote controls into the unit's memory.
What should you do with the keychain if it falls into the water?
If you drown your car alarm pager, you should immediately remove the battery from it. This is necessary to de-energize it. Then simply place the remote control in a warm, dry place for at least 8-10 hours. We do not recommend drying it with a hairdryer or placing it on a radiator. Exposure to elevated temperatures, although it will dry out the moisture much faster, can also damage the plastic case or display.
But if a short circuit occurs before you have time to remove the battery, the consequences of getting wet can be irreversible. And then you will have to look for and repair the element that has “burnt out” due to a short circuit.
It can be detected visually. The damaged element will turn black and the circuit board around it may be slightly charred. If you cannot identify the fault this way, use a multimeter. “Ring” each of the elements on the board one by one and you will find a breakdown.
Key fob cleaning process
For cleaning you will need the following things:
- cotton swab;
- a toothbrush with soft hair;
- alcohol solution.
To perform this task, you must first disassemble the key fob. If the contamination is significant, then start cleaning the elements with a brush, after moistening it a little with an alcohol solution. When cleaning the board, use the brush very carefully so as not to damage the radio elements and the connections between them.
To clean the case from heavy dirt, you can use household detergents. The main thing is to thoroughly dry the parts after such a wash. The buttons can be completely soaked in an alcohol solution.
Perform final cleaning of the elements with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol. If it gets dirty, take a new one. Cleaning with a dirty stick may further stain the parts.
After finishing cleaning, allow all elements to dry. The alcohol evaporates quite quickly, so 30-40 minutes will be enough. After making sure that the parts are dry, assemble the keychain.
Choosing the right keychain
Often, problems with the car alarm control panel are solved by purchasing a new control element. Especially if the car alarm key fob was lost. It's not that simple here. You can't go to a store and buy the first item you come across. You need to know about the subtleties and rules of choice.
- To purchase, you need to choose specialized sales points. A consultation with the seller will not be superfluous; ask questions and clarify any unclear points.
- The control must be suitable for your system, moreover, the ability to program it is important. The key fob must be selected in accordance with the alarm model, otherwise reprogramming will be impossible.
- Finding a key fob for an old model of security system will be very difficult, in some cases even impossible. Be prepared to replace your entire alarm system.
When the desired mechanism is selected, it is worth thinking about how to replace the alarm key fob. We will talk about this further.
Checking the key fob and searching for the service button
The very first step will be to check the key fob itself for its functionality. Inspect the key fob housing for cracks and chips, check the batteries. You can check the voltage on the key fob battery using a multimeter. If the key fob is new or the batteries have been changed recently, then you can skip this step.
The next step is to find out where the service button is located. Programming an alarm is not such a complicated process; you need to find a button from the alarm unit, usually it is connected to a wire. Most often, alarms are installed under the front panel of the car on the passenger or driver's side. You need to look under the front panel and find this button. If you cannot find the button, then you need to find the alarm unit and walk along the wires from it in search of the button.
Is it possible to restore the key fob?
Below we will look at what to do if the alarm key fob breaks.
Keychain repair
You can try to repair the control panel by checking the condition of the internal elements. To do this, you need to open the case, which is connected with screws and latches. You need to be careful when opening the device, as the latches break easily. The printed circuit boards inside should be free of plaque, dirt and oxidized areas. If the board is severely damaged, then a rational solution would be to replace the remote control with a new one.
To independently check the integrity of the alarm key fob elements, the user must have good knowledge of electrical engineering.
Starline A91: additional (spare) key fob
The alarm system has two remote controls - primary and secondary (see photo). The main key fob has a remote antenna, a color screen informing about the current state of the car, and three buttons on the side.
An additional or spare remote control differs from the main one and is necessary in case the first one is lost or the battery is dead. This key fob does not have a screen, and it cannot conduct a dialogue with its owner - a device without feedback. The remote control buttons are on the flat side, they retain all functions. A spare key fob can be used to open doors. The second remote control will help you unlock the interior or turn on the autostart of the engine.
How to disable different alarm models without a key fob
When figuring out what to do if you have lost your alarm key fob, it is important to study the specifics of the operation of this device and the main reasons that can cause its failure. To turn off the alarm if the key fob is broken, you can use universal methods that are suitable for different models of such systems. Before this, you need to remove the terminals from the battery.
The first method is to use the “Valet” service mode button, the location of which must be clarified when installing the alarm system. With its help, you can completely deactivate the security system and continue servicing the car without the risk of hearing the loud howl of a siren.
You can also turn off devices using the emergency method.
To do this, you need to change the position of the ignition key and activate the “Valet” button.
Ways to unlock Starline A91 key fob
If the remote control malfunctions, turn it off. You can use a custom code that you programmed earlier.
- open the door with the key. The car will blink its turn signals 4 times;
- turn the ignition key by pressing the Valet button the previously set number of times;
- write the system startup code. The Starline remote control should vibrate slightly;
- turn off the ignition. We receive confirmation from two flashes of turn signals;
- The system is deactivated, you can go.
Disabling the alarm
The key fob is lost or faulty, but you need to get into the car? But how to do this if it is under alarm? You need to disable the security system. There are several ways to do this. Whatever method you choose, you must disconnect the terminals from the battery.
- The “Valet” or “Valet” button can be located in different places. You should inquire about its location immediately after installing the security system. This button allows you to disable the system, after which the driver can safely get to the service center and solve the problem with the key fob.
- Emergency shutdown can occur in various scenarios, depending on what security system is installed in the car. For the most part, the driver’s actions come down to repeatedly switching the ignition key to different positions, after which it is necessary to quickly activate the service button a specified number of times.
- Disconnecting the system from power involves working with the wires. If this prospect does not scare you, then you will have to perform the following steps:
- under the torpedo we find the signaling unit;
- we pull out the wires and try to start the car.
Such actions do not always allow you to hear the sound of a running engine. In this case, we can conclude that the security system is blocking the main operating components (starter, fuel system). Even this situation can be overcome if you adhere to the following plan:
- we study the main vehicle wiring (alarm wires are connected to it);
- if there is a blockage, the wire will be cut and its ends must be connected to the remote control device;
- the security system wires will need to be disconnected and the cut wire connected;
- the lack of engine response indicates the presence of additional interlocks that need to be found and disabled.
- Coding is a convenient feature that relieves the driver of a number of difficulties. It is necessary to come up with a code in advance that will allow you to deactivate the security system without any problems. If this applies to your situation, then follow the action plan below:
- open the car with the key, insert it into the starter and turn it over;
- quickly press the service button as many times as indicated in the first digit of the code;
- return the key to the reverse position.
We repeat this algorithm of actions as many times as there are numbers in the password.
You know what to do if the alarm key fob is broken or lost. Choose an acceptable option and act.
Functions of the Starline A91 key fob
The device has a set of commands. A rubberized key fob (see photo) of the alarm with a small screen responds to attempts to enter the cabin without keys. The system also performs security functions.
Among the main alarm commands A91 are listed.
- Security actions. The system turns off the ignition, locks the doors and hood lock. This prevents car theft and battery theft.
- Automatic heating of the power plant. You can program the engine to turn on at the desired hours and bring it to operating temperature. Additionally, you can assign interior heating.
- Setting up system options. The owner can prescribe the time for oil changes, scheduled repairs, etc. During operation, the screen will show how much is left until the required procedure.
Replacing the starline alarm key fob with a new one yourself
If you purchased a new alarm key fob, you need to be able to register it in the system. Next we will look at how to replace the Starline model B6 alarm key fob. It doesn’t matter which key fob is used, main or additional. The recording procedure will be similar for both cases. Note: for other Starline models the process may look different, even exactly the opposite.
General information about the system
Here are a few immediate notes:
- You can register up to 4 key fobs (4 or less) in the Starline system;
- The control panel must be compatible with your alarm system. For example, there are revisions B6 and B6 Dialog, but they are incompatible with each other!
- If the newly registered key fob has not been used for a long time, its battery could be discharged. In this case, you won’t be able to write anything.
Of the three mentioned comments, the last two are obvious. They are suitable for all alarms (not only Starline). However, errors are often associated with non-compliance with requirements “2” and “3”. We hope you have taken everything into account.
Two-way and one-way communication
The keychain itself can be with or without feedback. Roughly speaking, its electronics can only contain a transmitter or a transmitter and a receiver.
When there is no feedback, data transmitted from the alarm unit cannot be received.
A printed circuit board without a receiver is installed only in additional key fobs. And feedback, in turn, is always provided by the main key fob (it has a display).
Main and additional key fobs
Thanks to recent research, it has become clear that one-way communication is not suitable for providing serious protection. These are not just general words, but a real fact. Therefore, new alarm models are equipped with key fobs with feedback. Example: Starline B6 Dialog. That is, now only two-way communication is used. But not for the classic B6 alarm system.
We record the key fob code
Obviously, to replace the alarm key fob with a new one, it is enough to write it into the memory of the main unit. In reality, everything is a little more complicated: you will have to register all the key fobs that you want to use. That is, both new and all old. Their total number should not exceed 4. Be patient - few people manage to do everything right the first time.
Programming process
Before starting the operation discussed here, you need to turn off the security mode. The standard way to achieve this is to press the “2” button on the key fob. Two beeps will sound and the LED indicator will turn off. Then, you need to turn the ignition key to the left (to the LOCK position):
Turn off the ignition before flashing
When working with the “A8” alarm system, the advice would be exactly the opposite - there the ignition must be turned on. But we are considering the "B6" model.
When the ignition is turned off, you need to press and release the service button (VALET button) 7 times. Starline's is usually round and medium in size. Next, immediately perform the following actions:
- Turn the key to the START position (turn on the ignition);
- The siren should sound (7 beeps);
- On the key fob, press and hold buttons “1” and “2”. After a couple of seconds the siren will sound (immediately release the buttons). Some versions provide this: you need to hold the buttons for 3-4 seconds, then release them yourself, and after a second the siren sounds;
- Step “3” is repeated for each key fob. The interval between repetitions is no more than 5 seconds;
- Turn off the ignition (required). The side lights should blink.
As you can see, nothing complicated.
Instructions for signaling "B6"
Remember two important points: buttons “1” and “2” must only be pressed simultaneously.
Otherwise, nothing happens. If “step 3” is performed once, one beep is heard, after repeating “step 3” - two beeps are heard, and so on (up to 4). And the interval between “records” should not exceed 5 seconds, otherwise the system exits the required mode. Let us repeat once again: for other alarm models, even if it is Starline, the instructions will be different.
Unpacking the keychain and official instructions
Good day. and so, let's start with the fact that I (including my father's use) had an alarm key fob that stopped responding normally to the buttons. I had to press the button several hundred times to open the car or close it... but oh well... there was also sadness with the cable to the key fob display, it broke (it is still a mystery to me, HOW?) inside the case. Well, oh well, if there is an impact on the car, the key fob will work, and that’s the main thing. but then it became completely sad, sad, misfortune... falling one day, the LCD screen cracked... hmm... well, oh well... not sad, because you can replace the key fob. After walking around markets and shops for a long time, what did I see? starline A6 alarm key fob costs from 1800 rubles! Having cursed to myself, remembering the bad words of the sellers, I decided to find out how much it costs to connect the key fob to the signaling system, it turned out to be 500 rubles... and so 1800 + 500 = 2300 rubles! did you fall from the oak tree? Well, I thought nothing, and decided that now the advance payment will come, I’ll change it. But somehow I met my friend Berkutvsk
He then told me that this miracle from China will cost about 700 rubles and it’s not all that difficult to connect! A keychain was ordered from China for 736.26 rubles. + 16 days of waiting (which is rare for Chinese parcels, whoever ordered will understand) and I’m the happy owner!
Clutch functions on a car
The clutch serves to transmit torque from the engine to the gearbox, after which the torque is transmitted to the wheels. In simple terms, the clutch disc is pressed against the flywheel on the crankshaft.
It is possible to press and release the disk from the flywheel using the clutch pedal, with which the driver actually acts on the clutch drive. When the pedal is in the up position (the pedal is not pressed), the disc is pressed. If the pedal is depressed, the disc and flywheel are disconnected. It turns out that by pressing the pedal the driver disengages the clutch.
In the hydraulic version, the cable is replaced by cylinders (as in a brake system) and the principle of incompressible fluid (in this case, brake fluid) is used. Most often, a hydraulic drive is installed in modern cars, since it is more advanced and reliable. In any case, when the car has a too soft clutch pedal, gears do not engage and other difficulties arise with shifting, normal operation without repair is simply impossible.
Damages that may occur
Knowing the nature of the remote control failure, you can determine how to solve the problem.
- If the body of the key fob is damaged after a fall, turning off the alarm and opening the car will not be difficult. If the quartz is shaken off, you will have to spend money on buying a new keychain.
- If water gets inside the device, it may become unusable or partially damaged. To reduce the risk of electrolyte getting inside the device, you must immediately remove the battery. Then you need to disassemble the mechanism and treat the tracks with alcohol. This will restore the functionality of the buttons. If they still do not start working, you need to check the functionality of the circuit using a tester. If the problem remains only with the functionality of the buttons, they need to be replaced with new ones, which will not be difficult. If the tracks are destroyed and the board is damaged, you will have to buy a new key fob.
Advice! Try replacing the battery. After a short circuit, it can instantly discharge. If, after installing a new battery, the situation has not changed, most likely there is something wrong with the key fob itself.
- The impact may destroy a button or a small section of the board. Try replacing the button at a service center. But if the remote control cannot be repaired, you will have to buy a new one.
- The key fob may freeze and temporarily not work. This often happens if you start the engine when the battery is dead. Radio frequency waves can be another cause of system freezes. The system will have to be turned off in emergency mode.
Common faults
The need to disassemble and restore the operation of the device occurs when the following problems occur:
- Failure of the battery or oxidation of the contacts inside the compartment. A low battery will cause the anti-theft system to stop responding to commands transmitted from the pager or to do so unstably. In this case, the display of symbols under the glass will be dimmer, and the blinking color of the LED light will also deteriorate. To restore the device yourself, you need to change the battery, and you will have to disassemble the pager if you need to clean the contacts.
- Damage to the display. This malfunction is usually caused by a serious physical impact on the pager body. In case of critical hits, a protective cover will not be able to save the situation. If the screen fails, the user may still be able to control the security mode and some other options. However, additional functionality will not be available to the consumer, since configuration requires the use of the display in any case.
- One or more buttons on the communicator have fallen off. Over long periods of use, the controls will wear out, which can cause them to stick. If the button fails, to restore the functionality of the key fob, the user will have to disassemble the remote control themselves and carefully check the board. Before replacing the key, you need to purchase a new part. In practice, the cause of the problem is usually a damaged contact on the control element, so re-soldering the button is usually enough to fix it.
- Damage to the pager body. Frequent falls can cause scratches on your device; over time, more serious defects may develop. Keyrings from Starline are generally characterized by low strength, so it is better to prevent them from being hit. The device must be repaired if there is serious damage, since liquid can get onto the board through a crack in the case.
- Hardware faults are usually caused by moisture in the pager circuitry. During prolonged operation in conditions of high humidity, capacitors, as well as other elements of the remote control, fail. Do-it-yourself repair in this case consists of disassembling the device body and drying it. You cannot dry your communicator on a household stove or with a hairdryer, since high temperatures can completely damage it. To dry, it is recommended to place the device in a warm place, for example, on a radiator, for several hours.
Video: troubleshooting the key fob
In a video, user Alexander Shkurevskikh showed the process of identifying problems in the operation of a car pager in the absence of feedback.
Case with flip key
Recently, they have increasingly begun to combine a flip key with an alarm system. Despite some security problems, this method is popular. There are no standard key fobs with this function, so you will have to purchase them yourself.
The Starline A96 flip key can be purchased on Aliexpress, where they offer an almost exact copy of a regular key fob. But, at the same time, it is equipped with the ability to install a key in the case. You can do this yourself.
It is worth remembering that the key contains a standard immobilizer chip. Therefore, before installation, you will need to disassemble the key housing of your car. After this, you can install the filling from the “original” key fob and the immobilizer chip into the case with the flip key. As a result, you will receive a key fob with a flip key.
Often the flip key housing does not have protective glass for the display. Therefore, it is worth starting work on remaking the key fob by removing this particular part from the standard remote control. To do this, carefully remove the glass using a sharp knife. You can immediately order a new one so as not to bother with alterations.
We remove the boards from the main body and place them in the new key fob body. Be sure to make sure that the buttons match the slots. We place the immobilizer microchip in the case; there is a special pocket for this. Close the lid.
We check the operation of the device. Usually no difficulties arise. But, if you manage to break something, you always have a second key fob that can perform basic functions until you buy a new remote control.

How to start the engine?
Owners of security systems are wondering: I lost the key fob for the alarm, is it possible to start the car?
If the security system is not equipped with an immobilizer, then there should not be any special problems with starting. Only the communicator key fob is lost, not the standard key. If the key fob is lost, following the instructions above, an emergency shutdown of the security system is performed. So, the system removes the lock and allows the engine to start.
Programming Starline A91 key fob
Learning to use the alarm remote control is simple. Above we have given instructions for programming key fobs. However, the functionality of the system is broader. You can customize the alarm for yourself.
Button 1 on the key fob is responsible for the following system commands.
- Activation of security mode (one press).
- Silent security (two consecutive clicks).
- Door locking when the engine is running (one touch).
- Enable/disable shock sensor (double press).
- Exit alarm mode (1 press)
- Disabling silent security (2).
- Additional shock sensor (2 presses).
- Opening doors with the engine running (1).
- Alarm interruption (1).
- Anti-robbery mode (2).
- Indicator of temperature degrees in the cabin (1).
- Search mode (2).
A long press records additional system commands: auto start on an alarm clock, turbo timer, immobilizer and much more.

How to turn off the alarm without a key fob?
If the car is parked near the house, then it can be opened using a spare remote control. The situation changes radically when the key fob fails on the road or in a foreign city - then you will have to resort to an emergency shutdown method. Since when you open the driver's door of the car with a standard key, the alarm mode will turn on, which is accompanied by sound and light effects.
The procedure for deactivating systems from different manufacturers differs. The user is advised to know this technique, since the remote control may break down unexpectedly.
Types of alarm deactivation
The design of electronic alarm systems has a function to disable the security mode without using a key fob. To deactivate security systems, use the service button and enter a code.
Disabling the Starline alarm system without a key fob is shown in a video filmed for the AVTOservis Nikitin channel.
Alarms Starline and Tomahawk
For early Starline alarms, for example, model 525 and those produced at the same time, the shutdown procedure is as follows:
- Unlock the door and get behind the wheel. The alarm activates the alarm mode.
- Within a period of no more than six seconds after the alarm starts, turn on the ignition, reach the service mode button and press it.
- Hold the button until the alarm mode is turned off. The system will give a single beep, and the diode will go into smooth slow blinking mode (one short flash at a five-second interval).
- Turn off the ignition and operate the vehicle as normal.
More modern Starline (Twage series) and Tomahawk systems are disabled differently:
- Open the lock and door, activating the alarm mode.
- Turn on the ignition, but do not connect the starter.
- The user then has 20 seconds to complete four presses of the Valet button.
- Turn off the ignition. The alarm will then be deactivated and the vehicle will give a double light and sound indication, confirming the emergency shutdown of the system.
Alarms Sher-Khan
Emergency shutdown of Sherkhan Magikar 2 systems is performed as follows:
- Get inside the car by opening the locks with a standard key.
- Within three seconds, turn the ignition key from the Off to the On position four times. The alarm will turn off, followed by a flash of emergency lights, which will repeat after six seconds. This is a signal that the starter interlock system has been disabled.
On other Sher-Khan systems, the procedure may differ in the time allotted for manipulation and the number of ignition switches on/off. In addition, a number of models provide access to the car using a secret code. It is entered by striking the driver call sensor.
For example, to deactivate the Magikar 5 system you need to:
- Tap the sensor 10 times with an interval between taps of no more than one and a half seconds. Each hit causes the green LED to flash.
- After the last hit, the diode will start flashing red. You can enter the first digit by tapping. The correctness of the input is confirmed by changing the flash frequency of the diode.
- Wait until the flash mode switches to the previous mode and enter the second digit in the same way.
- Enter the third and fourth digits. After correct entry, the door lock will open and the security mode will be disabled.
Alarms Mongoose
If the Mongoose alarm key fob is lost, then, depending on the model, both shutdown methods are used to deactivate and then start the engine.
The first method is used in budget models like AMG-700:
- To remove it you will need to open the door, sit behind the wheel and turn on the ignition.
- Then you need to press the Valet emergency shutdown button. According to the instructions, there is no time frame for completing the steps.
The second technique is used in systems with advanced functions, for example, AMG 800B:
- Turn on the ignition and press the service button to enter the first digit of the code.
- Turn off and activate the ignition system.
- Press the button to enter the second digit.
- Turn off the ignition. The alarm mode will end and the system will be deactivated.
For Mongoose IQ alarms, the procedure is slightly different:
- Within seven seconds after opening the door, turn the ignition on and off three times. After the third time it should remain activated.
- The diode will begin to flash slowly. After counting the number of flashes corresponding to the PIN code, press the service button.
Sheriff Alarms
Turning off the security mode of Sheriff systems, for example, APS-2625 or ZX-600, is done by pressing the service button with the ignition system activated. No more than ten seconds should pass between turning on the ignition and pressing the key. The Pro-9250 system uses a toggle switch as a service button, which automatically returns to its original state. Some models, such as the ZX-900 or 1000, are disabled by entering a two-digit code, with 10 seconds to complete each step.
Pandora Alarms
Emergency shutdown of Pandora systems is performed using a secret code printed on the card included in the kit and covered with a protective layer that must be removed. When purchasing a used car with this alarm, it is recommended to ask the previous owner about the presence of a card with a secret value.
To deactivate the system:
- Open the door and turn on the ignition.
- Load the first digit of the code using the service button. The correctness of the input is confirmed by a red flash of the status diode.
- Enter the remaining three numbers in the same way. After entering the fourth value, the diode will blink red and green and the system will enter programming mode, simultaneously disabling the security mode.
Alarms Panther and Alligator
To turn off the Panther CL-600 alarm, you need to activate the ignition and press the shutdown button (within 15 seconds). The CLK-450 system uses a code to deactivate the protection, which is entered by pressing a button when the ignition system is turned on. The personal value may consist of one or more digits; the exact type must be clarified in the operating instructions.
A number of Panther systems, for example, the SLR 5700, are equipped with a programmable shutdown method, which allows you to choose a method. By default, the security complex is deactivated by entering a code, but you can configure the deactivation mode by pressing a button.
A similar shutdown method is used for Alligator alarms. During programming, the deactivation mode can be configured using a code number that is in the range from 1 to 99, except for numbers with the digit 0.
Alarms Cenmax
Cenmax systems are deactivated by pressing the service button four times or by entering a two-digit emergency code.
