Replacing the air filter in a Lada Largus with your own hands: photos and videos

A few words about the cabin filter on Lada Largus

An air purifier for the interior of your car, as well as on Logan, is not supplied by the manufacturer.
However, there is a special plastic plug for it on the passenger side under the glove compartment. Self-installation of an additional filter component on the Lada Largus is highly recommended. Place for cabin filter LADA LARGUS

Otherwise, the car interior will quickly fill with dust literally after the first trip. In addition, the air conditioner evaporator will quickly become clogged and excess debris will accumulate in the niche itself. Therefore, under no circumstances should you spare the extra 350 rubles for a new cabin filter for the Lada Largus. For the initial installation of the purifier, you will only need a knife to cut a niche for it around the perimeter of the plastic plug.

The product can be purchased using catalog number 7701059997 or simply by ordering a cabin air purifier for Lada Largus or Renault Logan at any car store. As for the service life, on average it is 10 thousand kilometers and can fluctuate quite significantly up or down depending on the operating conditions of the car. Therefore, it is worth making a decision that the filter needs to be replaced after a visual inspection.

Type of cabin filter Lada Largus

Naturally, it is best to do this kind of installation or replacement yourself. This process does not imply anything complicated, and the 600 rubles that you might be asked for this procedure at a service station will also not be out of place. Moreover, the work can be completed in just 30-60 minutes. But simply changing a worn filter is a matter of 2-3 minutes.

The need to replace the air filter on Largus

It has long been undeniable that the air filter in the air duct plays a significant role, because along with its fuel “colleague” it ensures the purity of the mixture sent to the combustion chambers. The power characteristics of the LADA Largus engine directly depend on this factor. Operating a car involves no alternative and gradual clogging of the component we are considering. You should not wait until the filtering function completely stops, because the operation of the motor will be impossible, and the harm to it cannot be overestimated.

A Lada Largus with a dirty air filter will be prone to increased fuel consumption and an unjustified reduction in power. The manufacturer deliberately placed the air filter in the most convenient location. So that the owner is not lazy to look into it and assess the degree of clogging. If the fact of contamination is obvious, then resort to replacement as soon as possible. This work will be feasible even for an owner who has just embarked on the path of a car enthusiast.

Replacement procedure on a 16-valve engine

We carry out the work according to the following algorithm:

Remove the rubber clamp from the plastic protrusion that holds the air path resonator.

  • We disconnect the air duct from the air filter and move it to the side so that it does not interfere.
  • We dismantle the intake muffler.

Turn off the VUT tube. It is marked with paint in the photo.

Next, using a “25” hexagon, unscrew the two mounting screws.

We dismantle the filter. Remove the dirty filter element. We clean the inside of the box from debris, wipe it with a clean cloth to remove dust and insert a new filter.

We perform further steps in reverse order: fix the housing with screws, install the muffler, attach the pipes and connect the VUT pipe.

Replacing the air filter on Lada Largus 16 valves.

On a K4M engine with 16 valves, instead of the filter element of the standard air filter, you can install a zero filter. Such filters can be reusable.

reusable filters need to be regularly cleaned and washed and impregnated with a special composition. True, the cost of impregnation is quite high.

There is another alternative option - install a filter chandelier. There are two possible installation methods:

  1. Completely dismantle the intake muffler (2) and connect a chandelier in its place.
  2. Do not touch the muffler, install the chandelier filter instead of the air duct (1).

The figure schematically shows the details of the assembly.

Air filter Lada Largus

Having appeared on the domestic market about 3 years ago, the Lada Largus model immediately began to attract increased interest from practical owners. For this car, the manufacturer has provided two options for equipping it with power units: 1.6-liter with eight and 16 valves.

The air path filter supplied from the factory has its own code - “8200431051”. In some versions of Lada Largus, the standard equipment includes an element from Renault, which has a different code - “8201153808”.

Replacing the air filter in the air supply circuit is not particularly difficult, so the vast majority of owners easily cope with this task. Before purchasing a new filter, it is recommended to first remove the old component and measure its geometric parameters.

What to do on 16-valve units?

  1. We find the place of “dislocation” of the element. It is located in the central part of the compartment directly behind the engine.
  2. Here you will have to unscrew a couple of bolts holding the filter box.
  3. By loosening the air duct clamps and removing the protection, the halves of the filter box are opened.
  4. For convenience, the element body should be moved to the side.
  5. We remove the exhausted component outside.
  6. We install the new component in its original place.
  7. Now the body must be returned to its “legal” position.
  8. Don't forget to install the previously removed plastic protection.
  9. Tighten the body bolts.
  10. We clamp the clamps of the air line and, having checked the tightness of the unit, start the engine and enjoy its “free breathing”.

The air filter replacement is complete.

Replacing the filter on a 16-valve Lada Largus engine

Replacing the filter on a 16-valve Largus will also not cause much trouble. To replace, you will need a Torx T25 bit.

  1. Disconnect the flexible clamp securing the filter housing.
  2. Disconnect the box from the filter cartridge nozzle.

  3. Disconnect the vacuum brake booster pipe.

  4. Using a bat, unscrew the screws of the filter cover on the cartridge.

  5. We take out the filter, wipe the cartridge and install a new one in place.

This completes the filter replacement. We carry out the next replacement no later than after 12-15 thousand km.

How to choose an analogue of the Largus air filter 16 valves

The K4M engine installed on the Lada Largus, which contains 16 valves in its design, does not necessarily have to be an analogue of the interior part. It is worth noting that replacing the Largus 16 valve air filter allows you to select different duplicates of the original parts. Instead of the main air filter element, you can install a zero-filter air filter, which can be reusable. It is characterized by the fact that it has a collapsible frame, which means it can be easily cleaned. However, the disadvantage of such products is that they need to be cleaned, washed, and also impregnated with special products, which are quite expensive.

If you need to replace the filter in a Largus 16 valve car, then you can replace this part with analogues, in particular, such as:

  • Renault Logan 16 cl;
  • GAZ;
  • Bosch.

Products from Renault and Bosch are considered the best, as they fully comply with all standards of quality, reliability, and functionality. To choose the right product, you should consult with specialists.

There are many other models, so you need to select the most suitable option in accordance with your needs. It is worth noting that with a competent approach, replacing all required spare parts is quick and easy.

Replacing the air filter on an 8 valve engine

The air filter on an 8-valve engine is located under a plastic cover. After removing it, we will replace the filter.

First you need to unfasten the four spring latches

Now, using a regular Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the 5 screws securing the filter cover. The screws cannot be removed from the lid!

After unscrewing the cover, remove it, take out the filter, clean the housing from dust and debris, if any, and install a new filter. We reassemble in reverse order.

On an 8 valve engine, replacing the filter is much faster and easier than on a 16 valve engine.

Lada Largus cars have been produced since the beginning of 2012. This model was equipped with two types of 1.6-liter engines with 16 and 8 valves. The factory air filter code is 8200431051. The manufacturer often uses Renault Logan filters with the code 8201153808.

You can replace the filter on all frets yourself. Thanks to the simple design of the filter housing and accessible location, replacement is very easy, even without the literature at hand. Before buying a new spare part, you need to measure the dimensions of the old one, because it often happens that sellers make mistakes and sell the wrong filter.

According to factory recommendations on Lada Largus, the filter is replaced after 20 thousand mileage. If the filter is not replaced, the engine begins to “choke” and take on oil, which negatively affects the condition of the cylinder-piston system. As a result, carbon deposits may appear on the pistons, and this is a direct path to major repairs.

Lada sells modern filters, which are popularly called “nuleviks”. These products have a long service life because they can be washed. The service life of such filters is approximately 50 thousand kilometers.

Maintenance. Deadlines

The manufacturer sets the following maintenance periods for a Lada Largus car: every 15,000 kilometers or 1 year, whichever comes first.

Each service requires changing the oil, cabin and air filters. The Lada Largus fuel filter, according to the regulations, must be changed as part of an assembled module along with the fuel pump every 160 thousand kilometers.

Filter articles

Lada Largus for 2022 is equipped with two types of engines:

  • 1.6 l 8 valves (90 hp);
  • 1.6 l 16 valves (106 hp);

Until 2022, Lada Largus cars were equipped with two more types of engines from Renault: 1.6 l Renault K7M / 8 valve. (84 hp) and 1.6 l Renault K4M / 16 valves. (102 hp). The consumables for them are completely different. If you have a car manufactured before 2022, be careful!

Replacing the filter element on all VAZ cars is usually done on your own. The design of the filter is very simple and the developers have placed it in a very convenient place. To change it, you do not need any special knowledge, and you do not need to dismantle any additional systems or components. On the eve of purchasing a new air purifier, you need to measure the old one, since it often happens that they sell absolutely the wrong filter.

Car Lada Largus

The instructions that come with the vehicle indicate that replacement is necessary after 20,000 kilometers. But given the quality of our roads and the pollution of megacities, it is better not to reach this deadline. Also, earlier replacement is necessary if you often drive on dusty dirt roads. If you are late with the replacement, you can cause serious damage to the power plant of the Lada Largus car.

As drivers say, the engine will begin to choke and oil consumption will increase, resulting in leakage from the cylinders and pistons. And then a major overhaul. Modern filters for VAZ cars are distinguished by the fact that they can be washed. This is very convenient as their service life doubles.

General aspects: when to change

The instructions that come with the Lada Largus suggest the need to replace the filter every 20 thousand km of mileage. Here we recommend making an adjustment for this scheduled maintenance period and reducing the indicated period. This need is caused by the peculiarities of operating a car in an environment of increased pollution and gas pollution, which is important for modern megacities and dusty unpaved “destinations”.

Do-it-yourself Renault Duster headlight adjustment video

If you neglect to replace this important component, the consequences for the engine can be very sad. The engine will begin to experience air starvation, which will negatively affect not only fuel consumption, but will also cause increased oil consumption. And this already “smacks” of a quick overhaul of the unit, because the components of the piston group will not keep you waiting long. A practical difference between modern elements is the ability to clean them by washing. Thus, the service life of these components is approximately twice as long compared to traditional filters.

Temporary air filter repair

As a rule, in most cases, they find out about oil getting into the air filter on the road or when they urgently need to go. Then they wonder whether it is possible to solve the problem with repairs for a short period of time. It is impossible to answer this question unequivocally, since depending on the reasons given above, the result of the repair will depend.

If the problem lies in the filter itself, or a cracked hose, then for a short time the problem is very solvable. It will be enough to clean the filter well by knocking it out or rinsing and drying it (rinsing option as a last resort) and putting it back in place. A broken hose can be sealed. But at the first opportunity, replace it with a new one.

Most often you can find a solution, this is the hose from the breather, then oil will not flow into the air filter. Drivers remove and extend the hose, then lower the hose below the engine, thereby bypassing the engine air filter. With this decision, you can travel hundreds of kilometers, but it’s still better not to delay it until later. This solution will extend the life of the filter, and the crankcase gas exhaust hose will not clog or freeze in winter.

The last option is when it throws oil into the air filter. It can be said that this is the worst option and practically impossible to repair for a while; in this case, it is worth urgently starting a major overhaul of the engine. Since delaying repairs can take a considerable amount out of your pocket.

Conclusion, when oil leaks into the air filter, it is important to immediately determine the cause and eliminate it, since postponing it for later can lead to irreversible consequences.

Need for replacement

In any power unit, the air filter plays an extremely important role in providing the system with a high-quality air-fuel mixture. The engine power directly depends on the quality of the incoming mixture. But, during operation, the surfaces of the filter element become dirty. If you do not pay attention to this in a timely manner, then over time they will simply stop letting air through, not to mention its quality. This can be compared to a person running a long distance and at the same time breathing through a dirty rag. As you yourself understand, it won’t last long, and it’s simply stupid to talk about any results.

A car with an old filter will not only lose its power, but will also consume much more fuel. Since the Lada Largus filter is located in a very convenient and accessible place, don’t be lazy to look there as often as possible. If you find that it is dirty, replace it immediately. If the filter is washable, then at least wash it or dry it out. Such work is feasible even for a car enthusiast who cannot boast of extensive experience in operating a car.

Tips for choosing a filter

We list only the best brands: BOSCH, MAHLE, HENGST, MANN Filter. ASAM, in turn, supplies filters to Renault/Dacia factories. Well, VALEO is a well-known and trusted manufacturer from France.

The domestic brands listed above are not only GAZ and Nevsky Filter, but also AGRALE, IRISBUS and some others.

Replacement procedure

In order to save time and money, motorists prefer to replace the air filter with a new one themselves. There is nothing complicated in such work. You just need to purchase the right part that is suitable in size, and also prepare the tools: a clean rag and a flat-head screwdriver.

How to choose a filter?

Initially, you should read the technical documentation for the vehicle. Manufacturers indicate in the manual the code of the original model, as well as its dimensions. If such a part is not on sale, high-quality analogues will do. The most famous brands are BOSH, Fram and BigFilter.

Modern air filters differ not only in shape, but also in material and cleaning method:

  • paper
    designs are the most popular due to their low cost. The filter element here is corrugated cardboard, which retains dirt even 1 micron in size. The paper is impregnated with an oily solution and does not deform when in contact with water. However, such VFs are disposable. It is not recommended to use the filter after 30 thousand km;
  • VF zero resistance.
    In appearance, the filter resembles a paper one, but fabric or foam rubber is used as a filter element. Due to the high cost, zero VFs are most often used in sports cars. If the part becomes dirty, it can be washed with a cleaning agent and reused.

Which of the proposed options to choose remains at the discretion of the driver. However, the future VF must be suitable in size, since a loosely fitting part can allow dust to enter the engine.

The procedure for replacing the air filter in a Lada Largus car on 8-valve and 16-valve engines has some differences, so we will consider each process separately.

Replacement process on an 8-valve engine

In order to replace the VF in a Lada Largus on an 8-valve engine, you need to drive the car onto a flat surface and then turn off the engine.

Procedure:

  1. Open the hood and secure it;
  2. The air filter is located in a protective housing near the engine. In order to dismantle the part, it is necessary to disconnect the air pipe;
  3. After this, the latches on both sides are unfastened and the old filter is removed;
  4. The protective box is wiped with a clean rag and a new filter is installed according to the instructions.

This completes the procedure for replacing the VF.

Replacement procedure on a 16-valve engine

To replace the air filter in a Lada Lagrus car with a 16-valve engine, you will need a Phillips screwdriver.

The replacement process is as follows:

  1. Open the hood and lock it in a safe position;
  2. Find the location of the air filter (black box behind the engine). Disconnect the pipe;
  3. Remove the cover of the protective box. To do this you will need to unscrew two screws;
  4. Press on the halves of the box and carefully remove the old VF;
  5. Wipe the surface and insert a new filter into the cassette;
  6. Install the mechanisms in place and check their tightness.

As noted earlier, replacing the air filter is a simple and standard procedure that does not take much time. At the same time, timely replacement of the part will significantly extend the life of the Lada Largus engine.

Every car owner sooner or later faces the question of repairing it and replacing components; the air filter on the Lada Largus also requires replacement. Here everyone has their own path - roll up their sleeves and climb under the hood on their own or entrust this task to professionals. It is generally accepted that it is not difficult to return domestic cars to service on your own. But time shows that the Russian auto industry does not stand still, and an ordinary screwdriver and wrench are no longer enough to carry out repair work.

The issue of replacing components, in our case the air purification element, is quite simple. As a rule, even a beginner can cope with this task. The main thing is to choose the right air filter in full accordance with the design of the car.

Replacing the Granta cabin filter in 4 steps

Is your furnace not working well or is your air conditioner not blowing well? Regardless of the make and model of the car, anyone can encounter this problem. This is often due to a clogged cabin filter. Let's look at how to replace the Grant cabin filter.

How to change the cabin filter on a Grant

Praise to AvtoVAZ - changing the interior is relatively easy and the same on Grant and Kalina. It can be changed from the street in the engine compartment - no dismantling of complex elements is required.

All work will require:

  • Torx key T-20;
  • Crosshead screwdriver;
  • New filter.

All you need for the job: a star wrench, a Phillips screwdriver and a replacement filter.

Step-by-step filter replacement

To work, you will have to remove part of the decorative apron at the base of the windshield. To do this, raise the wipers to a vertical position.

To raise the wipers, turn on the ignition and start the wipers. As soon as they reach a vertical position, turn off the ignition. Now access to the apron is free.

Step 1: Raise the windshield wiper to a vertical position.

Next, open the hood and use a Torx key - unscrew the 5 stars that hold the right side of the decorative apron against the windshield. Remove the cover.

Step 2: remove the plastic trim from the right wiper.

We gained access to the filter casing - use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the 2 screws securing the cover. Let's take it off.

Remember the order in which you removed the cover. It is inconvenient to place it - it is better to know exactly which edge to place first.

Step 3: Remove the filter housing. We get access to the element itself.

The last thing is to bend the fastening latches and remove the filter. If there are leaves and debris underneath, you can vacuum or blow out the seat.

You can buy a new filter without a mounting frame. In this case, remove the old filter from its frame and use it to install the new one.

Step 4: replace the old part with a new one. If the new filter is in the frame, just put it in place. Otherwise, we use the frame from the old element.

Reassemble in reverse order:

  • 2 fastening latches;
  • 2 self-tapping screws in the casing;
  • 5 screws in a plastic cover.

Features of replacement for Grant standard, 8 valves without air conditioning

On a number of Grants, the standard configuration does not have a filter from the factory. Regardless of body type: sedan or liftback. What to do with such cars?

Just install the filter according to our instructions. There is simply no filter in the car - there is a place for it and access to it is the same.

In relation to the cabin, the air conditioner affects only one way: after a long period of use, the air conditioner will begin to blow poorly.

How often to change

The plant regulates the replacement of air filters every 30,000 km. Practice shows a gap of 15,000 km from replacement to replacement. Or twice a year before winter and summer, respectively.

Which salon to choose

There are 2 types of cabin filters: carbon and regular. When choosing, consider the following points:

Table 1. Comparison of cabin filters for Lada Granta

CarbonicOrdinary
How it cleansesDetains odorsDoes not allow debris and small particles to pass through, all odors pass through
ResourceIt is believed that coal quickly clogs and after that becomes meaninglessAs stated - up to 30,000 km
Where is it better to useIn dusty conditions, in a city with a lot of traffic jamsIn an area with clean air, without traffic jams and heavy dust
Cost, rub.250170

The choice for Granta is a matter of your preference. The cost of the part remains meager, even if it is impregnated with carbon. If you install a regular white element but change it regularly, it won’t make things worse. If you don’t change it for a long time, anyone will turn into this photo.

Instead of a conclusion

Let's summarize:

  • Replacing the cabin filter in Granta takes 10-20 minutes;
  • The work does not require a special room or expensive tools;
  • The element needs to be changed every 15,000 km. or seasonally before winter-summer;
  • The choice of the filter itself is between a regular one and a carbon one - to get rid of odors, it is better to take a carbon one.

Replacing the fuel filter

According to the maintenance regulations, the fuel filter is not changed often: every 160,000 kilometers. You may never have to do this. But there are times when it is necessary to change the fuel filter earlier. The fuel filter may become clogged due to the use of low-quality fuel, and dirt, water or oil may enter the gas tank. Result: the car does not start or does not gain speed. Recommendation from experienced mechanics: the fuel filter needs to be replaced.

The work required to replace the fuel filter is as follows:

  1. Remove the back seat and lift up the carpet.

  2. Remove the inspection hatch cover.
  3. Disconnect the electrical wiring, then the fuel hoses. Gasoline may spill. We follow safety precautions!

  4. Unscrew the fixing ring and remove the fuel filter assembly with the pump.
  5. Let's move on to the workbench. We change filters: coarse and fine. We check the operation of the pump. If necessary, we change it.

  6. We assemble the disassembled unit. Carefully install the fuel filter in reverse order.

The fuel filter replacement is complete.

The need to replace the air filter

In the combustion chamber of an engine, regardless of the specific type (diesel or gasoline), it is not the pure fuel that ignites, but the fuel-air mixture. This requires 15 times more oxygen. Air enters the internal combustion engine from the atmosphere. The dust and dirt particles it contains can damage the engine or significantly reduce its service life. To prevent breakdowns, a special air filter is installed in the car.

The air filter is a small part of a round, panel, cylindrical or conical shape, depending on the design of the seat. The surface of the VF is covered with a porous material that retains fine dirt and dust. Entering the internal combustion engine through the filter, the air goes through several degrees of purification. As a result, O2 without harmful substances enters the engine.

Modern air filters can purify the atmosphere by 96%. However, during its operation, the air filter becomes clogged and requires replacement.

The following signs may indicate a malfunction of the VF:

  • loss of speed;
  • lack of traction;
  • increased detonation;
  • sensation of jolts or noise when starting the engine;
  • the engine stalled;
  • concentrated exhaust;
  • excessive fuel consumption, etc.

Also, a faulty cleaning device directly affects the service life of the engine. Dirt and dust gradually clog the mechanism and will require expensive repairs in the future.

According to recommendations from the Lada Largus car manufacturer, the VF must be replaced every 20 - 30 thousand kilometers. In this case, the conditions in which the vehicle is operated should be taken into account. If the driver lives in a rural area where there are no roads, or is often stuck in traffic jams, the air filter will wear out. Such parts in cars are replaced twice as often.

When to change the air filter on Largus

The plant recommends replacing the Lada Largus air filter, regardless of the engine, after a mileage of 30 thousand km. Nevertheless, a rare filter survives until the middle of this period. This is primarily due to the concentration of dust in urban environments, and if the car is used mainly on country roads, then it is better to shorten the scheduled replacement period even further.

In a word, experienced Larus technicians recommend not delaying the replacement and carrying it out after a mileage of approximately 12-15 thousand km. If the filter clogs very quickly, it is better to buy a cheaper option, but change it more often.

Such a filter definitely requires urgent replacement. Signs of a clogged air filter may look different:

  1. High fuel consumption, rich mixture.
  2. Loss of traction, loss of power.
  3. The engine does not develop maximum speed;
  4. Hard start.
  5. Unstable engine operation at idle speed.

You also need to find out which filter element was installed on the 8-valve engine. Until 2012, round filters were installed, after which rectangular ones were installed. The process of replacing them is not much different.

Design of a 16-valve engine and regulations for replacing the air filter

When you tear off the hood, you can see three important parts that will need to be dismantled.

K4M engine intake tract

We list all the details below:

  1. Rubber strap holding the inlet pipe;
  2. Tube-hose of the VUT system;
  3. Two Torx screws.

If the number of valves is 16, the air filter on the Lada Largus is in a triangular casing. It, that is, this casing, is unscrewed and pulled back. Here you can only skip the steps with the VUT tube, but then there will be a risk of damaging it.

As for the regulations, the air filter on Renault engines must be replaced every 15 thousand km. Here we are talking about the following engines: “K4M”, “K7M” and other gasoline internal combustion engines. Filters for all engines, of course, look different. But the regulations are the same.

Air filter Lada Largus: do-it-yourself replacement

The air path filter supplied from the factory has its own code - “8200431051”. In some versions of Lada Largus, the standard equipment includes an element from Renault, which has a different code - “8201153808”.

Replacing the air filter in the air supply circuit is not particularly difficult, so the vast majority of owners easily cope with this task. Before purchasing a new filter, it is recommended to first remove the old component and measure its geometric parameters.
