To do this, we will need to buy graphite generator brushes from the VAZ-2101 in advance. Tools include a Torx wrench, a screwdriver, a file or a piece of sandpaper, a soldering iron and a little bit of soldering skill. So we remove the heater motor, it’s not complicated, it’s just terribly inconvenient, look at the video, the preparation and removal of the heater motor was explained and shown in an accessible way in the video. After the heater motor is removed, remove the motor impeller and take out the brushes, which now need to be unsoldered using a soldering iron. Then we take and disassemble the mounting of the VAZ brushes itself and take out the graphite brushes themselves. Using a file or sandpaper, we sharpen the VAZ ones to the width and height of the factory Renault ones; the graphite brushes are therefore sharpened very easily. Then we measure them on the motor itself and sharpen them to the required length and solder them in place of the original ones. And don’t be too lazy to immediately lubricate the bushings securing the armature axis and rotor so that the motor spins more quietly and does not irritate you with its creaking during operation. We carefully put the motor back together and put it back under the panel in its original place and voila we enjoy its excellent performance again. Composition of the Renault Logan ventilation/heating system

Vehicle equipment may vary. In the budget segment, there are models equipped only with a ventilation/heating system; in top configurations there is a full-fledged climate system, supplemented by a car air conditioner.

But if the latter is designed to create a comfortable TV microclimate during the hot season, then the stove and its components included in the cooling system of the power unit are responsible for heating the cabin.

Let's consider the composition of the car's ventilation/heating system, since the second cannot work without the first, being its component integrated into the overall circuit of the air conditioning system.

The Renault Logan heater circuit includes a radiator acting as a heat exchanger (it is often called a stove), an electric fan, and a system of air ducts connected to deflectors. A cabin filter can be included in this circuit. Although it is designed to clean the outside air entering the cabin from various pollutants, it can indirectly affect the operation of the heater.

The deflectors are designed to blow air into specific areas of the car: the windshield/front side windows, the footwell area and the top of the car interior.

Climate control unit

On the central console of the dashboard (instrument panel) there is a block that controls the operation of the stove and ventilation system. It includes three handles and buttons for turning on the car air conditioning and recirculation mode:

• on the left is a regulator responsible for the distribution of air flows;
• in the center there is a fan speed control;
• the right handle is responsible for regulating the temperature of the air blowing from the deflectors;
• Between the left and middle handles there is a button to turn on the car air conditioner;
• On the right is the lever for turning on the recirculation mode.

The first two regulators are characterized by a discrete operating mode, the third – by smooth adjustment.

The air flow distribution regulator operates in the following modes, indicated by the corresponding generally accepted pictograms:

• blowing the windshield and front door windows (the corresponding air ducts are activated);
• airflow to the driver/front passenger head area using a central deflector;
• blowing simultaneously the upper and lower parts of the cabin;
• airing only the legs, while there are air ducts passing through the central tunnel to the rear row of seats;
• blowing the legs, windshield/side windows of the car.

The intensity of the air flow entering the cabin is regulated by a central regulator with five positions - “off” and four speeds of rotation of the fan motor. In this case, the electric motor itself rotates at a stationary, maximum speed, and the intensity of rotation of the motor shaft is reduced by means of additional resistors that reduce the current supplied to the motor contacts.

Let's make sure that the problem is in the motor.

Despite the low prices for spare parts for Logans, the heater motor is far from cheap. The cost of an original spare part can exceed 5 thousand rubles. Therefore, it makes sense to check whether the problem is really with the electric motor. A number of signs of a heater motor failure coincide with the symptoms of other malfunctions, the elimination of which will cost much less. Let's consider all the options.

Fuse

If the stove does not turn on, the first step is to find out whether fuse F36, which is responsible for protecting the heating system from short circuits, has blown. The fuse box on the Logan is located at the end of the instrument panel on the driver's side. If the fuse is blown, replace it. If the device is in order, or after replacing it the stove still does not work, you will have to continue troubleshooting.

The heating system fuse can be found on the right side of the block.

Wiring and connectors

Wiring problems can also cause the heater to malfunction. First of all, you should check the connections in the motor area. If you find that the plug is not inserted all the way, correct it. And also check the integrity of the wires. If everything is in order with the wiring and connections, and the heater still does not turn on, you should move on to checking the motor itself, as well as the heater mode switch, which is located on the center console.

Cabin filter

If the stove blows weakly, the problem is not necessarily the motor. It is possible that the cabin filter on your car is clogged. It is worth changing it every 15–20 thousand kilometers.

The filter is located in the lower part of the center console, in the footwell of the front passenger, but on some cars there is a plug on two screws in place of the slot. Filter elements were not installed on all Logans. If there is still a filter, remove it and check its condition. If it is clogged, be sure to replace it. To replace, use a new filter; a cleaned old one will only be clean in appearance.
