That is, if suddenly the doors stop working in one direction, for example, they don’t open, but work in the other direction, closing, then you need to check the wiring, then change the 15 A fuse in the power distribution; the 6-pole central locking connector is connected to the alarm system. In some cases, one of the fuses will operate without damaging the wiring if the movement of the drive is difficult (freezing of locks in winter), since the current consumed by the stopped motor is higher than when it is running.

Standard central locking without door lock button

If a car has standard central locking, but there is no manual door lock/unlock button in the cabin, then the actuator (or, as is often the case in Korean cars, a switch) inside the driver's door acts as the control.

In the version with a full-fledged actuator, most installers completely break the circuits connecting its winding to the standard central locking and power it from the built-in alarm relays. Problems with new wiring (breaks, short circuits) have the same symptoms as in the previous section. But if the driver's door lock normally responds to commands from the remote control, and the other doors do not open / close, the problem lies in the contact group of the door drive (an additional group of two or three wires). The drive will require replacement.

If there is no actuator on the driver's door, it must be installed additionally when installing the Starline security alarm. Diagnosing problems does not change the principle: if the central locking works only in one direction, one of the power cables is shorted to ground, if the central locking does not respond to opening and closing, there are two options:

  1. Or there is a break.
  2. Or the standard switch in the door lock is faulty.

Standard central locking with door lock button

Often, a button is installed in the interior of a car with standard central locking, with which the driver forcibly unlocks and locks the doors. In this case, when installing the Starline security alarm, low-current control of the central locking is implemented, which is much safer from the point of view of short circuits: control is carried out by shorting the signal wiring to ground through the built-in limiting resistor in the car's central locking control unit.

In the first version, the lock button has three contacts:

  • one general;
  • the second commands the opening of the locks;
  • third discovery.

Consequently, the relays built into the control panel are also connected - one simulates the “open locks” press, the second - “close the locks”.

If the doors do not close or open according to Starline remote control commands, this indicates a problem with the grounding of the common wire of the built-in alarm relays - oxidized twist, wire break. If oxidation or damage occurs at the connection point of one of the signal cables, the central locking will only open or close the doors.

In the second option, the door lock button works impulsively, that is, it “hangs” only on the signal wire, one press locks the doors, the next unlocks them, and so on in a circle. In this case, the installer at the installation stage “parallelizes” the unlocking and locking relays integrated into the security alarm system, which becomes a blunder, since the lack of control over the actual state of the doors can lead to a “mirror” display of the algorithm.

For example, this is due to a feature of StarLine alarms: if you try to arm the car with the door open, the alarm will give a blocking pulse and repeat it as soon as the door slams. But if the alarm is installed incorrectly on the impulse button of the central locking, this will lead to the doors remaining open, and when turned off, on the contrary, closing.

In more modern cars, standard central locking control units can monitor the status of the doors themselves and, in particular, automatically open the others when the cabin is opened. In such systems, the alarm is connected in different ways: the built-in unlocking relay simulates the operation of the driver's door limit switch, the built-in locking relay simulates pressing the door lock button. The absence of an alarm response when opening or closing the door from the remote control indicates a malfunction in the connection of a specific control circuit: if it is interrupted, the standard circuits will continue to function normally, if there is a short circuit to ground, the central locking will stop working normally.
