With the onset of frost, some drivers face some problems. For example, the light in the cabin does not light up when the door is opened, the alarm system does not work correctly, etc. The cause of these malfunctions is the door limit switches. Let's look at several ways you can modify them yourself.

Question to AvtoVAZ: How to solve the incorrect operation of limit switches that become dull in the cold, what is the time frame for elimination?

Answer: According to test results at temperatures up to - 30°C, there are no changes in functioning. At temperatures down to -40°C, switching on may occur with a slight delay.

Lada Vesta, Granta and Kalina 2 cars use the same type of door switches. At sub-zero temperatures, their rubber boots (protective rubber caps 11190-3710206-00) freeze and lose their elasticity. As a result, the limit switch rod cannot come out of the housing and the car’s electronic systems believe that the door is closed. Here are some ways to solve the problem:

1. Remove the anthers from the door ends.

No rubber, no problem. But it is worth remembering that the rubber cap is designed to protect the end switch from moisture and dirt. On the other hand, you can remove the anthers only for a short time, while it is frosty outside, and during this period, keep them clean.

2. Replace the limit switch anthers with an analogue one.

It is proposed to install protective caps from another end switch, for example, Toprun (catalog number 104035756, price 50-100 rubles/piece). This end cap is a copy of the original one, but its anthers are made of a material that does not lose elasticity in cold weather. There is no point in changing the limit switches themselves; it is enough to change only the rubber caps.

3. Install the spring under the limit switch boot.

Another budget option for solving the problem, especially when you have springs about 18 mm long and 12-13 mm in diameter at hand. We install them under the rubber caps on the limit switch rod. Now the spring will not allow the boot to remain in a compressed position all the time.

Checking and replacing door limit switches on Lada cars

To increase safety (so that the driver does not start driving with the door open and for the alarm to work), cars are equipped with open door sensors (popularly “limit switches” or “limit switches”). Their malfunction causes the interior lighting to work incorrectly and prevents the car from being armed. Let's figure out how to check and, if necessary, replace door switches.

What's the matter?

Owners of the Russian sedan began to notice that in cold weather, when opening the doors, the light in the car either did not come on at all, or came on, but with a noticeable delay. In addition, there are interruptions in the functioning of the alarm system. This is due to the not entirely successful design of the Lada Vesta door limit switches.

The bottom line is that the same end switches are purchased for Vesta, Kalina 2 and Granta. However, at low temperatures, the elasticity of their protective anthers is clearly not enough for correct operation. As a result, the limit switch rod is unable to come out, which is why Vesta’s electronics believe that the doors are still closed.

Replacement

To remove the limit switches, open the doors, then:

  1. remove the protective cover from the sensor by simply pulling it towards you.
  2. pry off the limit switch with a screwdriver
  3. remove the limit switches by snapping off the three latches
  4. disconnect the block with wires.


On some Lada models (for example, Lada Priora or Niva 4x4), the limit switches are attached to the body with a screw.

On the Lada XRAY the limit switch is located in the door lock and changes along with the lock.

Installation is carried out in reverse order.

Removing the front door trim of Lada Vesta

The front cards are the most difficult to remove. They are attached to a larger number of fasteners, and there are more regulators. It is necessary to take into account the adjustment of the mirrors so as not to uproot any electrical wiring clips. Also, care should be taken when dismantling the power window unit - it is this unit that is most often damaged by inept actions with a screwdriver. Caution and lack of haste will be the key to getting the job done correctly.

The order of actions is as follows:

  1. Using a plastic spatula prepared in advance, unclip the plastic triangle lock in the area of ​​the rear view mirror control unit. Just pry this element off at the top.
  2. Disconnect the electrical control connector to prevent it from being torn off when removing the card.
  3. At the bottom of the card, use the same spatula to remove the lampshade. Disconnect it from the connector and set it aside. Also unscrew the three card fastening screws located at the bottom of this element in the area of ​​the lampshade.
  4. At the top of the end part (in the plane where the door lock is installed), carefully remove the round plug. Underneath there is another fastening screw that needs to be unscrewed.
  5. Inside the door closing handle there is another screw for securing the card, which also needs to be carefully unscrewed with a Phillips screwdriver.
  6. Next is the most difficult part - using a plastic spatula, carefully pry off the window regulator unit so as not to damage its delicate body. Remove the unit from its installation location and disconnect it from the connector.
  7. There is another fastening screw under the power window control unit that needs to be unscrewed.
  8. At the bottom of the casing, place a plastic spatula in any corner of the card and gradually pull the plastic towards itself. The clips will begin to come out of their installation locations, and the card will gradually be dismantled.

Once all the clips are removed, you will be able to completely remove the card and get to the metal part of the door. This is a simple procedure that you can do yourself without experience. But you should pay special attention to accuracy when working with the power window unit. It is at this stage that most inept performers incur additional costs for themselves. The case cannot be pryed off with a screwdriver, as it will be damaged and will look very ugly.

Wiring check

Instructions for cars of the B0 assembly line (XRAY, Largus, Nissan Almera, Renault Duster, Sandero). Remove the limit switch and set the multimeter to voltmeter mode. We measure the voltage at the contacts of the block with the wires:

  • If there is no voltage, the circuit of the interior lamp lamp or the lamp itself is faulty.
  • if the voltage is significantly less than 12 V, the wire connecting the sensor to ground is probably damaged.

We set the multimeter to ohmmeter mode, connect one probe to ground (body), and the other to the terminal of the block with the black wire. The resistance should be close to zero. If the resistance is high and tends to infinity, the connection between the wire and the body is probably damaged by corrosion or the wire is damaged (treat the connection with a product to protect electrical contacts). If the fault cannot be resolved in this way, it is necessary to remove the interior trim from the pillar, find and fix the fault.

Design solution to the problem


Experts recommend going with the first option. Installing a button in the door sill is used on all cars of this class. This path is easier and faster to follow. The driver will only restore the originally designed circuit for connecting the limit switches. With this choice, there is no need to disassemble the locking mechanism. The owner will not have to wander around looking for additional plugs, wires, and insulating materials. He only purchases standard switches for the Lada Granta. Let's look at the most labor-intensive configuration for remodeling - the standard one.

  1. Open the car hood. Loosen the bolted connections with an open-end wrench. First unscrew the negative terminal, and then the positive one. Carefully disconnect the wires from the battery so as not to accidentally short-circuit the power source.
  2. Remove the limit switch from the hole. To do this, you need to grab the protruding cap. Pull out the switch, overcoming the resistance of the fixing whiskers.
  3. Connect two wires to the outermost (used) contacts of the plug.
  4. Remove the plug from the rear door mounting hole.
  5. Stretch two wires from the driver's door limit switch to the threshold to the installation site. Bring the ends out through the hole, 10 cm each.
  6. Strip the wires and connect them to the connector of the new device.
  7. Set the interior lighting switch to the operating position.
  8. By analogy, the keys located in the openings of the remaining doors of the Lada Grant are changed.
  9. The driver's door button is put back last.

When installing each pair of contacts, it is advisable to check their functionality. Measure the circuit resistance with a tester by alternately pressing and releasing the spherical protrusion.

Checking the door switch

When the rod is recessed, the contacts are open. First of all, we check the serviceability of the sensors by opening all the car doors one by one.

Check with a multimeter. We connect a multimeter to the limit switch terminals in ohmmeter mode and check the closure of the sensor contacts (the contacts must be closed, the resistance is close to zero). We press the sensor rod and check the measurements (the contacts must be open - the resistance tends to infinity).

Let us remind you that in some cases (for example, in the cold season) limit switches may work intermittently. For Lada Vesta, Grant and Kalina 2 you can use this solution, and for Priora this.

Finalization of the scheme

Work on modifying the door end elements can be delegated to service station specialists. In this case, the owner will be charged an installation fee. You can do everything yourself, then installing limit switches will require plumbing tools and a device for checking the electrical circuit:

  4. The wire.
  5. Solder POS-40.

Elimination of operational failures

Limit switch device

The design of any such device consists of:

  1. Cases. It can be made of dielectric or conductive material, depending on the design.
  2. The moving part with the help of an impact on which the contact group is pressed. There is no moving mechanism in reed switches and non-contact limit devices.
  3. Contact part. It can contain both normally open (normally open) and normally closed (normally closed) contacts. When choosing a limit switch, you should pay attention to the voltage and current that will flow through the contacts. Since the duration of proper operation of the switch directly depends on this. It depends on what mechanisms it is intended to control.

Mechanical

Mechanical limit switches come in different designs, which determine their scope of application.

Their main types:

Most often they are used, of course, for production purposes, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, and construction. They are often equipped with a rubber seal and contain a group of contacts that include both make and break contacts.

One of the varieties of this kind of limit switches is called microswitches and their operating principle is similar to conventional ones. But the sizes and currents are much smaller. The working stroke of such elements is measured in millimeters, and therefore they are used using an additional lever, which can be equipped with a small roller. Therefore, installing it will require careful adjustment of the trigger.

Contactless

Non-contact limit switches are designed as opposed to mechanical ones and are considered more advanced devices. They operate on transistor switches, which have low resistance in the open position. Due to the use of contactless switching on and off, there is no effect of contact burning when the electrical circuit is broken.

How to close the doors without an alarm - the battery is dead

There are situations when you cannot lock the car using the key fob. Often, this happens when the battery in it is low or the battery of the car itself is low. Naturally, in this case, the central locking will not work. Therefore, you will have to close the doors using the ignition key. For this purpose, the manufacturer provides some design features in their locks.

All doors, except the driver's door, have a groove with a lock button in the locks. The ignition key must be inserted into this groove and pressed down. The button should go down. Then the door is slammed, and it should already remain closed. Such actions will have to be repeated with each door except the driver's, which is closed last simply with a key. The lock on it is located to the right of the handle and is covered with a cap, which must be pryed off and removed.

Help: The same caps are also on the handles of other doors. But they cannot serve to close them. They are used when you need to open the car from the outside using just a key, without a key fob.

You can use the lock button. To do this, press it for a few seconds with the driver's door open. After clicking, the three doors will close back and forth. The lock indicator should be on. Then the driver's door is locked with the key.

Connection rules

Despite the fairly simple design of limit switches, they are used in electrical equipment where there are complex electrical circuits. As a result, they must be connected by specialists who know how to work with circuit diagrams for connecting limit switches. The sensor is connected with two wires, red and black. The first is under voltage, the second is without it. They are installed in the circuit as indicated in the diagram.

When the device is triggered, a click is created. The indicator type of switch is connected in the same way as a regular mechanical one. There is also a third green wire. The LED will indicate that the switch has tripped with a click.
