Sequence of operation
The operation of replacing the battery in the key can be carried out directly inside the car. To do this, you will need a set of flathead screwdrivers with blades of different thicknesses and widths. To remove the battery from the Camry V50, V55 car remote control, you will need to do the following:
- Select a screwdriver of the required width and thickness and open the plastic case of the product. The blade is carefully inserted into the groove on the body and turned clockwise. Important! Using a large blade may damage the plastic body of the key fob.
- After removing half of the case, another one will be visible, which contains the power supply. The lid of this case is held in place by two latches that can be easily removed even with a fingernail.
- The battery is fixed in the socket by a spring mechanism, removed with a thin, pointed object, and then a new one is installed.
Important! The battery is installed with the “+” sign facing up, otherwise the remote control will not work.
The key is assembled in the reverse order. Upon completion of assembly of the case, the functionality of the key fob is checked. If everything works as expected, replacing the battery in the Toyota Camry ignition key is complete.
If you need to “register” a new key for a Toyota Camry car
Due to various circumstances, it may be necessary to purchase a new key or make a duplicate. Simply taking out a new key fob, inserting it into the ignition switch and starting the engine will not work.
The new key must be adapted to the immobilizer installed on the vehicle. To do this you will need a scanner, programmer or laptop. The latter also requires a connecting cable to connect the car's on-board computer to the laptop. This cable is called Mini VCI J2534, the photo shows what it looks like. “Registration” of a new key is only possible if you have a functional key fob!
When using a laptop, the Toyota Techstream program is installed (video instructions for downloading and installing at the end of the article), connected to the car’s on-board computer, and the ignition is turned on when the key is working. The programmable key can be placed on the roof while leaving the door open. The image shown in the photo below should appear on the monitor:
Select “Start Paste” with the cursor and press “Enter”. The following image will appear with Utility selected in the » column.
The installer is presented in the menu. In it you should select “Register key code”. Then, in the new menu, check the boxes for all the items in the column.
The installer will show how many keys are “registered” and how many more can be added. In the right corner of the new plate there is a column "Pre-start CHK". Click the reanimated Start icon, which will start the stopwatch for 30 seconds.
At this point, you must bring the programmable remote control with the Toyota icon to the horn. When finished, click Next and exit the program.

If there is a duplicate key, it can be programmed as follows:
- Simultaneously press and release the brake and accelerator pedals.
- Insert the working key into the lock, but do not turn it.
- Then, within 15 seconds, the accelerator pedal is pressed and released five times.
- Then, within 20 seconds, the brake pedal is pressed and released 6 times.
- Now, after 10 seconds, insert the programmable key into the ignition switch of the Toyota Camry.
- For another 10 seconds, press and release the accelerator pedal once.
- After about 80 seconds, the “fuse” light goes out, the key fob is removed from the lock, and the brake pedal is pressed and released once.

When to change the battery
