The Starline A62 alarm system implements “Fast Dialogue” technology with a crypto-resistant dialogue code and a personal encryption key. This minimizes the likelihood of electronic hacking of the system.

Operating instructions for the StarLine A62 CAN alarm system and how to enable autostart

This car security system provides a full range of security and service functions, as well as interactive authorization.
Thus, an interactive control code with personal keys 128 bits long is capable of eliminating intelligent electronic hacking and is resistant to all available code grabbers. In order to protect the code, the most advanced dialog coding algorithm is used today, as well as the innovative frequency hopping method. In this method, when transmitting commands, a specialized transceiver changes frequencies many times according to a special program at the time of each transmission. A solution of this level, also known under the technical term: “method of possible spectrum expansion with frequency hopping,” is used for the first time in a car alarm control system and is a significant complication of attempts to crack the existing code.

StarLine A62 Dialog CAN is a dialogue vehicle protection system with an integrated CAN interface.

When developing the StarLine A62 Dialog system, all the advantages of previously developed security systems were taken into account, and such factors as noise immunity and cryptographic resistance of the control signal, the ability to withstand physical overloads, operating temperature range, convenience and practicality of operation.

For each instance, a personal key is generated, the parameters of which are unique. This key is recorded in the alarm unit simultaneously with the key fobs. The use of such technology provides protection against replacement, algorithmic and other types of code grabbers.

Basic alarm functions

Options implemented in the Starline A62 dialog system:

  1. Control the security mode using the remote control or a button to enter the service mode. In the second case, the user's personal password is used.
  2. The presence of a passive car engine block.
  3. Anti-theft option. This intelligent function serves to stop the engine in case of high traction. After the attack, the user can activate an option that activates after 30-60 seconds. This is done for the safety of the car owner, so that the attacker gets away from him, but does not leave the crime scene.
  4. Self-diagnosis when protection mode is disabled. The security alarm system checks its main elements and identifies failed equipment. Information about this is displayed on the communicator screen.
  5. Possibility of separate opening of locks.
  6. Bypass the non-functional security zone. If defective security zones were detected during the check, the system will bypass them.
  7. The presence of a memory module built into the microprocessor. The control unit stores data on alarm events indicating the zones that led to their activation. The memory module also stores system state information. If a power failure occurs, the alarm will return to its original state when the power is turned on again.
  8. Maintaining the power unit lock when dismantling the alarm system.
  9. Possibility of installing and connecting additional shock and sensitivity sensors.
  10. Silent protection function. When the alarm mode is activated, the siren does not sound. This information is sent only to the display device.
  11. Panic mode. Its essence is to activate alarms and lighting devices upon command from a pager. This will deter potential intruders from the car and mark the car as protected.
  12. Call the car owner. The implementation of this option was made possible thanks to the presence of a button on the transceiver module.
  13. Checking the door locks from the ignition system.
  14. Monitoring the battery charge in the pager. Battery information is shown on the remote control display.

Starline alarm system: auto start from key fob and automatically

The Starline autostart system provides an option for intelligent engine start, when the alarm system independently selects a frequency for communication between the main unit in the car and the key fob.

Thanks to such features, intercepting a security system signal is almost impossible. This is especially important in urban environments and conditions with high levels of radio interference.

Methods for starting a car’s internal combustion engine:

  • remote start (warming up the car before driving);
  • automatic start (periodic starting of the car engine at certain time intervals to maintain the temperature at a given value).

Remote autostart Starline

Before considering how to enable autorun on Starline, you need to pay attention to some features. To correctly configure autorun from the key fob, you must perform the following steps:

  • move the gearbox lever to the “neutral” position (all gears are disabled);
  • turn the key in the ignition and remove it from the lock (the car engine is turned off);
  • close the doors, trunk lid and hood of the car tightly;
  • turn on the parking brake (handbrake).

MalfunctionDoors do not close when commanded from the remote control
Possible reasons
  • The fuse is blown or the central locking wiring is loose
  • Mechanical fault of central locking
  • Oxidized door limit switch
Ways to eliminate the gapAcidic and rusty buttons and limit switches are cleaned and lubricated with anti-corrosion grease. Faulty fuses must be replaced and loose contacts restored. If the lock still does not work, you need to replace this element with a new one

What does manual transmission mean on the key fob?

First, let's look at the manual transmission mode on the Starline key fob, and what it is. On vehicles with a manual transmission and automatic start, the illumination of such a button is mandatory. The inscription on the remote control screen indicates the correctly selected mode and safe operation of the option. For correct operation, the driver must get out of the car, leaving it in program neutral and with the handbrake raised.

If the manual transmission on the key fob lights up on the Starline alarm, this indicates that the function is ready for operation. In other words, the car owner can use the autostart manually or using remote control without fear of the vehicle accidentally starting to move. And you can also turn off autostart from the key fob without any problems.

Self-connection of a security system to a car

To install a car alarm yourself, you must have some experience working with electrical circuits and strictly follow the manufacturer's recommendations. The standard instructions for car alarms Starline A64, A62 and A66 contain a detailed diagram of the installation and connection of all elements of the system.

Benefits for installers:

  • The function programming algorithm has been modernized. Now online on the key fob display you can see the function number and its programmed value.
  • The control of additional channels has been modernized, making it possible to install the StarLine A62 Dialog system on all modern cars.
  • More than 50 standard and programmable functions provide the car owner with not only reliable protection, but also comfort when using the StarLine A62 Dialog car alarm.

Reviews from drivers using Starline A62, A64, A66 alarm systems

Reviews about the A62 alarm:

PositiveNegative
Convenient, good alarm system. It very rarely works without a reason. In 4 years of use I have only changed the button on the key fob once and it works fine. Installed on Ford Focus in 2012. At first it worked fine, but after about a year it started to malfunction. I went to the service center where they installed it for me. The guys reconfigured it, but it still clearly doesn’t work. The range has decreased and does not work the first time. I will say this: the report is not bad, but short-lived.
Cost-effective and reliable reporting. There are all the functions for an economical car: LCD display, shock sensor, feedback. This is enough for fifteen. The screen clearly shows whether the car is closed or not and what exactly is open: the doors, trunk or hood. There is an engine lock function in case of theft. I believe that with such protection you can sleep peacefully. Not the best option on the market. Functionally it is rather weak. Everything you need, such as a GPS module, must be purchased separately. There is also no automatic start, which is extremely inconvenient in winter. I came across this alarm along with the car I bought. I'm using it for now, but I plan to change it soon.

Feedback on the operation of the A64 alarm system

PositiveNegative
I have an a64 2can slave alarm for 3 years. There were no glitches, there was nothing to complain about. I didn’t find any disadvantages, only advantages: reliability, high-quality communication (always answered the first time), large range of the key fob.

Reviews on Starline A66

Definitely not worth the money. The usual two-way alarm system, nothing interesting. To enable at least autostart, you need to purchase a special module, which is expensive. Why, if you can buy it already with all the necessary functions and much cheaper.
The alarm has a dialogue code, which, according to the manufacturer, is 100% theft-proof. I've had the Passat for over a year now. Drives great, the car hasn't been stolen yet. The controls are convenient, I especially like the large button on the remote control. The key fob itself isn't very petite, but it's comfortable to hold and doesn't drain as many batteries as my previous report. Not Starline's most successful product. For a small surcharge, you can get the same A96 with a more advanced security system, motion sensor and automatic start. I can’t say that it works poorly, it’s just that the price does not correspond to the quality and functionality.
PositiveNegative
It works all the time. Very good reception range, works even through thick walls. We connected via CAN bus, the whole process took no more than 4 hours. The reported price is clearly too high. Although the package does not include a GPS module with an antenna, it must be purchased separately. The relays were inserted only into box 2, although this is clearly not enough for connection via the CAN bus. The instructions are quite vague and there are no clear instructions on how to install the CAN. It appears that manufacturers are deliberately misleading people to contact their service center for installation.
Functional and functional signaling. Starline has never let me down. There were some problems, but this was due to a slight "bend" in the installation. Some functions are written incorrectly. It’s good that there are many service centers, I went to the nearest one and set everything up for a small amount. I recently installed an A66 on a Mazda 2014. Among the shortcomings, I note the clumsy and large key fob and the rapid discharge of the battery when the alarm goes off. Also, I don't like the slight confusion in the controls, the old system was much simpler. Honestly, I expected better from Starline.

Autostart by time

To enable this function, you need to select icon 2 on the display. The car will blink its headlights once, and a melodic signal will sound on the key fob. Now, after a time specified by the owner, the alarm will periodically start the engine.

If after the first attempt the car does not start, a second one will follow. In this case, the starter cranking time will be increased by 0.2 seconds. The timer is designed for 4 attempts to start the engine. If even after the fourth attempt the engine does not start, the sound signal on the key fob sounds. To set the engine warm-up time, the sequence of actions is as follows:

  • Press and hold button No. 3 on the key fob (asterisk) for a long time.
  • The key fob will beep briefly, but keep the button pressed, after the second sound signal, release the button;
  • The leftmost icon (1) on the panel will blink;
  • Briefly press button No. 3 to move to the fan icon;

With one short press of button No. 1, the key fob will play a melody; Wait about ten seconds until the key fob beeps and the fan icon remains darkened; The interval start function is activated.

It is turned off in the same way, but the choice is confirmed by button No. 2 (open lock). When the engine starts successfully, an image of exhaust gases will appear on the screen. The car itself will blink its headlights 3 times and beep three times.

Starline A66 is the most reliable security system in its category

Among the models considered, the A66 alarm system has an undeniable advantage. Its capabilities are much wider, and its security system is an order of magnitude higher than that of the A64 and especially the old A62. It can be said that this system is an updated version of previous versions, combining the reliability of Starline safety and the latest developments in the field of automotive safety systems.

Despite the fact that the A66 car alarm is a budget option, its true level of protection is not inferior to high-end models. The system is equipped with a tilt controller and a two-level shock sensor. If desired, the alarm functionality can be expanded by adding GPS and GSM devices. The automatic start function is performed when installing safety equipment with a CAN bus connection.

Video: possible reasons for incorrect operation of the Starline alarm system

The “ReviewBroz34” channel in its video showed what problem a consumer may encounter when using Starline car alarms.

This manual in Russian is intended for car alarm StarLine A62 Dialog , describes the principle of operation and the main points of operating the device.

The manufacturer strongly recommends that you carefully study these instructions before turning on the car alarm.

Car alarms from the Russian manufacturer Starline Series A are distinguished by reliability in operation and affordable cost. Models A62, A64 and A66 are united by two-way communication, an interactive signal code, and the absence of an autostart function in the basic set.

Video - Installing StarLine A62 on Peugeot 308

For the next test, Starline presented two models of Starline alarms, the A62 and B62 series. In principle, I asked not to bring models with automatic start, because the “autostart” function does not add anything serious in terms of protection to the overall picture, it is just a service function. All the conclusions given below in no way serve as a guide to choosing a specific product, but only reflect the subjective assessment of the author.

Starline A62

The absence of an antenna is immediately noticeable. (it is hidden inside the case). The bodies of both key fobs are made of simple, fairly thick plastic with a minimum number of elements, which instills confidence in reliability. The top cover is attached quite firmly without the use of screws, the battery can be replaced without difficulty.

The information display is informative, but, in my opinion, it is oversaturated with status icons. When requesting the status, it became possible to see not only the internal temperature, but also the battery voltage.

We open the lid and the first thing that caught our eye was the support phone number. We call. After a minute of waiting, the phone was answered and my questions were answered correctly. It turned out that technical support works from 10:00 to 19:00. I'm calling at 18.55... They answered the call and answered. The key fob is bulky and large, but the ergonomics of use are excellent, pressing the buttons is easy and convenient. The strength of the keychain was tested together with our friends - the company Ugona.net

Three A62 series key fobs fell by gravity onto the tile floor, starting from a height of 1 meter and ending at a height of 2.2 meters in 0.2 meter increments. At each height, the drop occurred three times: the LCD display, the antenna and the buttons. Those each keychain fell 21 times. All three key fobs remained fully functional, which was a pleasant surprise.

— high reliability of the key fob body; — availability of technical support telephone; — high impact resistance; — no external antenna; — ergonomic stops;

The installation was carried out efficiently, no traces of active production components were found. The connectors are securely attached to the board; reasonable efforts to try to pull the wires out of the connector socket were in vain.

Anti-theft function

The entire anti-theft function boils down to an attempt to inform the car owner that theft has begun with an alarm message on the remote control, or to inform the owner of the loss of communication with the car through a “communication test” if the thief interfered with the alarm messages. To make theft more difficult, it is assumed that the engine blocking relay is built into the alarm unit or an external blocking relay is controlled by an analogue output.

Therefore, if the same alarm unit is found in the cabin, disabling the lock will not be difficult. If the alarm is triggered, the burglar indicator light control relay, which remains electromechanical and produces a characteristic sound (crackling) during the push mode, will help the thief find the lock in the car if the alarm is triggered.

The A-Series unit has two additional channels controlled by a command from the remote control, allowing you to optionally control devices such as Webasto, door pin, trunk lock, etc.

— high-quality installation of the block; — high-quality installation wiring; — the presence of two more universal programmable channels.

— analog control of the blocking relay (digital relay is not included in the kit) — control of the burglary relay indication, allowing you to find the alarm unit.

Starline B62

The body is made of the highest quality plastic, the antenna is also hidden inside. The keychain fits well in the hand, the ergonomics of the keys are excellent. Separately, I would like to note the excellent engineering solution for making a large button with a contrasting insert. It is easy to press by touch, and if such a remote control is in the hands of a child, he will not be able to do anything other than arm the car.

Three key fobs from the StarLine B62 series turned out to be less stable in the event of a fall; one after another they stopped working when dropped from a height of 1.6 meters. The failure was accompanied by cracks in the LCD display matrix.

The pros and cons are absolutely similar to the A series, but the B series already has 4 additional channels, this allows you to control several devices at the same time.

The StarLine A62 and B62 series alarms are minimally protected against theft and cannot be considered a theft deterrent. However, they can be safely used as part of any security complex, assigning them a number of functions:

  • remote control of arming/disarming mode;
  • reliable notification of the owner about theft or loss of communication with the car;
  • the proposed dialogue exchange mode with greater noise resistance makes it impossible for the internal code grabber 803 to function;
  • advanced control capabilities for external devices.

Please note that we do not install alarm systems. You can buy a StarLine alarm and install it in Moscow from our colleagues at the StarLine installation center.

Alarm Starline autostart from key fob

Remote autostart starline

Before learning how to perform starline remote autostart, it is important to study some features. In order for you to be able to enable autostart from the key fob, it is important to meet the following conditions:

  • The first step is to put the car on the parking brake.
  • Turn the key in the ignition switch, and then remove the key (the engine must be turned off).
  • Next, move the gearbox lever to the neutral position.
  • Finally, it is worth closing all the doors tightly, as well as the trunk and hood.

Only if all the above conditions are met, then only in this case the security alarm will allow you to set it to autostart.
