6. In the central part of the structure you will see a large nut. It should be unscrewed using a 24 mm socket.
7. The steering wheel no longer holds anything. To remove it, grab the steering wheel with both hands and pull each side in turn. There's no point in trying. If the part has not been dismantled before, it will be quite difficult to move. Do not try to remove the part with one jerk: you may accidentally injure yourself.
8. If attempts to remove the steering wheel using the method described in point 7 are unsuccessful, use a small hammer and drift. In addition to additional tools, you will need an assistant. One person from the pair should pull the steering wheel, and the second should hit the drift attached to the end of the steering shaft with a hammer.

Tuning the interior trim

Vinyl leatherette is most often used as an alternative upholstery material. It is better to choose the main color in advance. We advise you to buy coverage with a reserve.

Before starting work, you also need to prepare a set of necessary tools and materials:

• vinyl artificial leather (you can choose any other suitable one);
• knife or cutter;
• strong threads;
• a simple sewing kit (ideally, work on a sewing machine);
• scissors;
• pencil;
• construction stapler;
• good glue.

The easiest item to replace is the sun visor, so that's a good place to start. The part is removed from the fastenings and the standard upholstery is removed by separating it along the seam. A piece of new material will be cut along the top and bottom. When cutting, you need to step back from the outlined boundaries by one centimeter; this margin will be used for seam allowances. You also need to leave some more space - approximately 0.3-0.4 cm from the same contour line - in order to pull the cover over the visor.

Using a sewing machine, the two parts are sewn together. This can be done without a machine, but in this case the operating time will increase significantly. The seam should be on the wrong side. Leave part of the contour line unsewn, since the product must be turned out through this hole and pulled onto the visor, after which the free space is sewn on the outside. The visors are installed in place, now you can move on to other elements of the interior.

Replacing door trim

Door cards can also be transformed by replacing them with an alternative material. This is no more difficult to do than the previous procedure with visors. The scheme is similar. The door cards are removed, and the standard upholstery is removed using a utility knife. This contour is applied and outlined on the wrong side of the vinyl leather, after which the pattern is cut out with the same margin of one centimeter along the edge.

A staple gun should be used to attach to door cards. However, standard staples will not work, since the card is too thin and they will pierce right through it. For work, it is better to choose staples with number 8. Vinyl leatherette is attached to the back of the doors with a stapler. If the staples do come out, they can be removed by cutting them off with ordinary office scissors. Next, all that remains is to install the door card in place. On the other doors everything is done in the same way.

Replacing the roof sheathing

The procedure is largely similar in processing all other elements. The only inconvenience is the labor-intensive nature of such work, which takes a lot of time and effort. But you can always do not everything at once, but gradually.

The process goes like this. The roof is measured and, based on the results obtained, a contour is drawn on a piece of vinyl leatherette. After this, the material is glued to the roof (a stapler will not work, the upholstery is practically in contact with the metal). It is possible to first remove the old upholstery, or you can stick the new one directly on it. It is recommended to use the second option: dismantling the ceiling cladding will significantly complicate the replacement process, and it will not bring practical benefit.

For a more attractive appearance of the interior, you can replace the lighting with LED. It is worth changing the lampshade itself along with this. You can tune the interior trim yourself using inexpensive materials and the simplest tools. Creating a leather interior is done in a similar way, only you need to use leather glue.

Complete interior tuning

It's easy to replace the trim inside the car, but what about the seats? After all, they will remain with regular fabric upholstery, and this combination will not look very attractive. It is unrealistic to reupholster the chairs yourself, so you can use the economy option and buy covers made of the same or similar material. More advanced owners of the VAZ 2114 solve the issue radically and change the seats completely, often choosing sports seats of the “bucket” type.

To replace the casing, you can contact a service center and actually perform this procedure yourself. To do this, you only need a set of wrenches. There will be no difficulties with dismantling. 3. Replace the central nut and tighten it. If it does not fit tightly in the socket head, insert the wire strands between them. When the nut is in place, remove the wires and secure the nut tightly.
4. Replace the steering wheel cover and tighten all screws.
5. Make sure the steering wheel is straight. If even a slight displacement is observed, the part will have to be reinstalled.

2. Remove the pin from your finger.
3. Use a key set to “19” to unscrew the nut on the tip.
4. Place the puller on the pin and slowly turn the bolt.
5. As soon as the tip pin comes out of the steering knuckle, disassembly is complete.
6. Install the new tip and screw it until the total length of the rod is the same as on the old element.

Be sure to make wheel alignment and camber adjustments. You can roughly adjust. And in this case, rubber wear will occur much faster. At a service station, such a procedure costs no more than 800 rubles and takes about an hour. A prerequisite is that all threaded connections must be new, otherwise the technician will not be able to unscrew the bolts and nuts. It is also advisable to replace struts, silent blocks, ball joints, and other suspension components.

After installing the new tips, the entire assembly must be assembled. For this:

1. Install the tip pin into the steering knuckle.
2. Refit the nut (be sure to use a new one). It should be twisted by hand.
3. Tighten the nut with a wrench to “19”.
4. Make sure the hole in the pin lines up with the slot, then install the pin.
5. Bend the pin antennae to the sides using pliers.
6. Install the wheel and tighten the bolts.
7. Lower the side being repaired and tighten the wheel bolts completely.

In a similar way, on a VAZ 2114 the steering tip on the other side is replaced. After assembly, be sure to check that all nuts are securely tightened.

Please note that it is not advisable to knock the tip out of the steering knuckle with a hammer or sledgehammer. This can damage not only the tip itself, but also the strut, support bearing, and ball. And as a result, you replace one node, but break three.

Replacing the steering wheel on a VAZ 2114

I started by rinsing/dousing Anyutka with Karcher =)

Dismantling process

There is electronics inside the steering wheel - the signal of a VAZ 2114 car, so first of all you need to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. By turning the front wheelset to the “straight” position, you can begin dismantling:

1. The first step is to unscrew the seven screws on the covers located under the steering wheel. Once the fasteners are removed, the lower casing can be detached. The top section should only be removed when the steering column is pointing down;
2. After this, you need to remove the decorative trim. It has no fastenings, so it can be removed with a flat-head screwdriver. This must be done carefully, as the plastic here is fragile. Under the cover there will be two screws that hold the signal button - this also needs to be removed;
3. Next, you should unscrew the steering wheel fastening nut so that it stays on the shaft, that is, you do not need to completely remove it;
4. When the last fastening is removed, the steering wheel can be knocked down with a sharp blow and removed. In this case, a rubber hammer will help, as it will not damage the surface of the steering wheel.

Important ! The steering wheel in the VAZ 2114 sits tightly on the spokes, so with a sharp jerk the parts may be damaged. When the hub is removed from the spokes, you can finish the fastening nut.

Installing the steering wheel is done in the reverse order. An important point is the pointer switch ring. When installing, it must be rotated so that the pin can fit into the groove of the ring. If a non-standard product was purchased as a replacement, then the process is the same; the only differences can be in fastening and fixing.

We remove the old steering wheel.

First, fix the steering wheel straight and align the front wheels, then remove the minus terminal from the battery.

We disconnect the car signal connector, and after that we unscrew all the screws of the steering column casings and remove the lower cover of the steering column trim.

After removing the lower steering column casing, you need to unlock and lower the steering column adjustment lever and then remove the upper steering column casing.

Using a screwdriver, remove the decorative trim on the signal, unscrew all the fastenings of the signal button and pull it out.

Using a socket wrench, unscrew the steering wheel mounting nut, but not completely.

If you do not have a puller, then you can use your hands to apply several blows towards you on the steering wheel, unscrew the nut and remove the car steering wheel.

Next, we change the steering wheel, removing the decor and the horn button, after securing the steering wheel, unscrew the nut and take out the steering wheel, remove the steering wheel cover too, and attach it to the new steering wheel.

How to replace a steering wheel

The whole process is divided into several stages:

1. Preparatory:

• Disconnect the battery by removing the negative terminal. If this is not done, a signal will sound when unscrewing the central nut with a screwdriver.

How to replace the steering wheel on a VAZ 2113-VAZ 2115?
