Air filter Lada Largus 16 valves k4m - replacement, article, video

Having appeared on the domestic market about 3 years ago, the Lada Largus model immediately began to attract increased interest from practical owners. For this car, the manufacturer has provided two options for equipping it with power units: 1.6-liter with eight and 16 valves.

The air path filter supplied from the factory has its own code - “8200431051”. In some versions of Lada Largus, the standard equipment includes an element from Renault, which has a different code - “8201153808”.

Replacing the air filter in the air supply circuit is not particularly difficult, so the vast majority of owners easily cope with this task. Before purchasing a new filter, it is recommended to first remove the old component and measure its geometric parameters.

General aspects: when to change

The instructions that come with the Lada Largus suggest the need to replace the filter every 20 thousand km of mileage. Here we recommend making an adjustment for this scheduled maintenance period and reducing the indicated period. This need is caused by the peculiarities of operating a car in an environment of increased pollution and gas pollution, which is important for modern megacities and dusty unpaved “destinations”.

If you neglect to replace this important component, the consequences for the engine can be very sad. The engine will begin to experience air starvation, which will negatively affect not only fuel consumption, but will also cause increased oil consumption. And this already “smacks” of a quick overhaul of the unit, because the components of the piston group will not keep you waiting long. A practical difference between modern elements is the ability to clean them by washing. Thus, the service life of these components is approximately twice as long compared to traditional filters.

Accessibility for everyone

If we compare replacing the cabin filter with air conditioning with other repair operations, then the fact is immediately obvious that this work will not require the owner to have certain skills or spend time. Moreover, now you know where it is located, as well as how to change it correctly. To perform the procedure, you will need a minimum of skills and knowledge in the field of the features of the car interior ventilation system.

Here, accuracy comes to the fore, since removing the non-removable plug will require special care. If an unfortunate mistake occurs at this stage, the consequences can only get worse. This circumstance makes some owners inclined to seek help from the service, which is quite justified, because the correct installation of the filter directly affects the correct operation of the entire ventilation and heating system of the interior space of the Lada Largus model.

On the Lada Largus, a cabin filter is not installed by the manufacturer, so after the first trip dust appears in the car's interior. The filter element can be installed during a scheduled technical inspection, but if desired, you can do it yourself. Let's take a closer look at how to install a cabin filter on a Lada Largus.

You will need: a new Lada Largus air filter (catalog number: 7701059997, approximate price 350 rubles), a sharp knife or metal file.

Procedure:

Move the front passenger seat as far back as possible. Then bend down to gain access to the air filter plug, which is located near the front passenger's left foot (see photo).

It is necessary to cut out the plug using a sharp utility knife or a metal file. After the piece of plastic is cut out, you should clean the edges of the cuts and turn on the stove fan at maximum speed so that all the chips fly out of the opening for the filter.

The Lada Largus cabin filter is assembled, which means that along with the filter there is also a new plug. The cabin filter is larger than the hole made, so when installing it, the filter element must be compressed. First insert the upper part of the filter, and then snap the lower part into place. The whole process will not take more than 30-40 minutes of video, and the moment of removing and installing the air filter can be seen in the video:

On Lada Largus, the air filter should be replaced depending on operating conditions, every 10,000 km, or every 5-7.5 thousand runs under more severe conditions. Let us remind you that on the website you can find other instructions for repairing Lada Largus.

Close cooperation between the domestic company AvtoVAZ and the French automaker Renault bore fruit several years ago.

One of them was the appearance of a model called Largus, which after some time received its Crossover continuation in the form of Largus Cross. In fact, it remained the same station wagon, created on the basis of the French Logan MCV (aka the Romanian Dacia Logan MCV), but slightly changed its appearance and received increased ground clearance. This allowed the domestic automaker to add the prefix Cross to the name Largus.

If the question arises about replacing the cabin filter, the same recommendations and instructions can be applied to these two cars. In terms of organizing the ventilation, heating and air conditioning systems, they are no different from each other.

But the Largus and Largus Cross models have their own feature, which directly concerns the cabin filter. Therefore, questions are often asked about whether these machines even have such consumables.

The need to replace the air filter on Largus

It has long been undeniable that the air filter in the air duct plays a significant role, because along with its fuel “colleague” it ensures the purity of the mixture sent to the combustion chambers. The power characteristics of the LADA Largus engine directly depend on this factor. Operating a car involves no alternative and gradual clogging of the component we are considering. You should not wait until the filtering function completely stops, because the operation of the motor will be impossible, and the harm to it cannot be overestimated. A Lada Largus with a dirty air filter will be prone to increased fuel consumption and an unjustified reduction in power. The manufacturer deliberately placed the air filter in the most convenient location. So that the owner is not lazy to look into it and assess the degree of clogging. If the fact of contamination is obvious, then resort to replacement as soon as possible. This work will be feasible even for an owner who has just embarked on the path of a car enthusiast.

How to get out of a filter situation

Before replacing the consumables, the owners of the majority of Russian-French station wagons will first have to install a cabin filter on the LADA Largus.
In fact, motorists had to independently solve the problem of the lack of a cabin filter in the presence of a blank housing for it. In general, no one bothers you to leave everything as is, not use a filter and drive, receiving unpurified air into the cabin. But this is harmful and dangerous, so it would be correct to install a full-fledged filter element.

To supply a spare part, you can contact a car service, or do everything yourself. In the first case, you will have to pay at least 2 thousand rubles. Although in fact the work is completed in 1-2 hours, if you act extremely carefully, consistently and with rest breaks. Some can easily do it in less than 1 hour.

The idea is to get rid of the plastic plug by cutting it out of its seat. This opens the cabin filter housing, and it can be fully used to accommodate consumables. We must not forget that in most Largus configurations a cabin filter is not provided, but the consumables themselves are produced from the official manufacturer. A truly strange company policy, which is difficult to somehow explain or justify.

What to do on 16-valve units?

  1. We find the place of “dislocation” of the element. It is located in the central part of the compartment directly behind the engine.
  2. Here you will have to unscrew a couple of bolts holding the filter box.
  3. By loosening the air duct clamps and removing the protection, the halves of the filter box are opened.
  4. For convenience, the element body should be moved to the side.
  5. We remove the exhausted component outside.
  6. We install the new component in its original place.
  7. Now the body must be returned to its “legal” position.
  8. Don't forget to install the previously removed plastic protection.
  9. Tighten the body bolts.
  10. We clamp the clamps of the air line and, having checked the tightness of the unit, start the engine and enjoy its “free breathing”.

The air filter replacement is complete.

The manufacturer recommends replacing the air filter on Lada Largus every 30 thousand kilometers. However, depending on operating conditions, the replacement period can be reduced to 20-25 thousand km. The air filter installed on Largus varies depending on the engine.

For the K4M 1.6 16kl engine, a Renault filter 8200431051 is used. For the K7M 8kl engine, a filter 165469466r is used. However, if it is not possible to purchase an original filter, you can install an analogue. Now many manufacturers offer quite high-quality analogues that are not inferior in quality to the original, but their price is much lower.

Analogues of the air filter for a 16 valve engine

  • GoodWill AG710 price from 300 rub.
  • LYNXauto LA-1402 price from 380 rub.

  • ASAM 30664 price from 200 rub.
  • NPA NP511-09212 price from 250 rub.
  • Price of the original filter 8200431051 from 600 rubles

Analogues of the air filter for an 8 valve engine

  • Asam-SA 30487 price from 300 rub.
  • Fortech FA126 price from 220 rub.
  • Goodwill AG325 price from 250 rub.
  • LYNXauto LA2070 price from 280 rub.
  • The price of the original filter 165469466R is from 450 rubles

After selecting the air filter, we proceed to replacing it. The replacement process will not cause you problems; you can handle it yourself.

So, carefully disconnect the rubber clamp securing the resonator, suitable for the air filter.

Next, disconnect the resonator pipe from the air filter pipe and move the resonator to the side

Now we need a Torx T-20 sprocket wrench, with which we unscrew the 2 bolts securing the air filter housing.

Now all we have to do is remove the filter itself, clean the filter housing from dirt and dust, and install a new filter.

Reassemble in reverse order.

The air filter on an 8-valve engine is located under a plastic cover. After removing it, we will replace the filter.

First you need to unfasten the four spring latches

Now, using a regular Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the 5 screws securing the filter cover. The screws cannot be removed from the lid!

After unscrewing the cover, remove it, take out the filter, clean the housing from dust and debris, if any, and install a new filter. We reassemble in reverse order.

On an 8 valve engine, replacing the filter is much faster and easier than on a 16 valve engine.

Of course, changing the filter on an eight-valve engine is much easier, you just need to very carefully unfasten the spring latches, as there have been cases of their failure. By the way, the car can be safely operated without them. Regarding changing the filter every 20-25 thousand km (as opposed to 30 thousand km according to the regulations), I would generally recommend shortening this period even further and tying it to the scheduled oil change. The fact is that our cities are not very famous for clean roads, and here the price of a filter is quite normal. By the way, with such frequent filter changes, you can safely buy non-original ones.

Do you need to replace the air filter on your Lada Largus? Have you never done this before and aren’t sure you can do it on your own? The situation is familiar and can be easily resolved without the help of auto mechanics. Replacing a filter element is easier than, for example, motor oil, however, this process is associated with a number of features. What does a car owner need to know in order to quickly and efficiently change the air purifier? What tools are needed for this? How to choose components suitable for a Lada Largus equipped with a 16 or 8 valve engine? How often should it be replaced and what does it depend on? We will try to answer all these questions in our article.

Installation

Installing a cabin filter is not so much difficult as it is an uncomfortable procedure, since this part must be located deep under the front panel on the passenger side. Therefore, before starting work, you should remove the front seat using a wrench of the appropriate size. Under such conditions, you can install the cabin filter while lying down with your legs on the back seat, which will be somewhat more comfortable than kneeling outside the car and trying to bend in an unnatural way. You should put a flashlight with an elastic band on your head to carefully examine all the details.

Now you need to determine where the cabin filter is located. To do this, you can first study the documentation for the car, but you can find the right place yourself. The socket for installing the cabin filter in the Lada Largus is closed with a plastic non-removable rectangular plug, which is quite large in size. Inspect it carefully - there should be a mark at the top that indicates the support pin. To install the cabin air filter, you will need to cut out the plug with a sharp knife.

The material from which it is made is quite viscous and difficult to process - so you should use a ruler to cut it in a straight line. If you end up with small burrs, don't worry as they can be easily removed using the same knife

Please note that the support pin mentioned above cannot be cut out, otherwise you will not be able to properly secure the cabin filter in the car. Try to do the job as carefully as possible, even if you have to spend a lot of time - the reward will be the ability to install the cabin filter without additional sealing. Next, a surprise awaits you, since the cabin filter for Lada Largus has slightly larger dimensions than the resulting space

To install it correctly, the filter needs to be slightly crumpled from the outside and carefully brought in, gradually pressing it against the far wall. If you bought a quality product, its lower part will be a cover that will seal the air channels inside the front panel. Now turn on the blower fan at maximum speed and check that all deflectors supply air evenly. If you followed the recommendations exactly, the cabin filter will serve you for a long time and will maintain a safe microclimate inside the car.

Gearbox Lada Largus: features

The manual transmission of the Lada Largus car is a five-speed gearbox. The box effectively transmits torque from the internal combustion engine to the driving front wheels, while ensuring clear and smooth engagement of the selected gear in accordance with the speed limit.

As mentioned above, manual transmissions on Largus can be units with the index JH3 and JR5. The JHZ five-speed manual transmission model is installed on Lalgus cars with the K7M engine. Cars of this brand with other power plants are equipped with a JR5 manual transmission.

Structurally, these boxes are similar, however, some elements of the clutch release and gear shift mechanisms, as well as the design for connecting the drive wheel drives, are somewhat different.

Features of the manual transmission version JHZ:

  • the unit for turning on and off the gearbox clutch is a clutch with a bearing, moved along a guide sleeve by a fork, which is acted upon by a cable connected to the clutch pedal;
  • The gearbox is controlled using a rigid rod;
  • The gear ratios between the primary and secondary shafts are different from the gear ratios of the JR5 box (gears: I-3.72 II-2.04 III-1.39 IV-1.02 V-0.79 reverse-3.54 main-4 ,21).

Distinctive features of the manual transmission version JR5:

  • the unit for turning on and off the gearbox clutch is a hydraulic working cylinder, combined with the clutch release bearing and through a pipeline connected to the main cylinder, the rod of which is affected by the clutch pedal;
  • The gearbox is controlled via two flexible cables;
  • the gear ratios between the primary and secondary shafts will differ from the gear ratios of the JHZ box (gears: I-3.73 II-2.05 III-1.32 IV-0.97 V-0.82 reverse-3.55 main-3 ,73).

Fuel tank volume Lada Largus

The volume of the Lada Largus gas tank is a value in liters that shows how much fuel can be stored in an empty tank before it is fully refueled. If we delve a little deeper into the theory, we can compare that cars of different classes travel approximately the same distance on a full tank without refueling.

And here it doesn’t really matter what engine size the car has. There is another regularity - the larger the engine volume, the larger the fuel tank volume.

This pattern can be explained. If a 1.0-1.5 liter engine is installed under the hood, then such cars will have a 30-35 liter tank. If the engine is 1.5-2.5 liters - the tank is 40-60 liters, over 2.5 liters - 60 or more.

What is the volume of the fuel tank actually needed for? We have already found out that knowing the volume of the tank will allow you to fill the required amount of fuel at the gas station. But where else can this knowledge be applied? Knowing the average fuel consumption and the volume of the gas tank, you can calculate how long the car will travel at one gas station. Although in modern cars this information is processed by the on-board computer and displayed on the display.
