The generator is not excited when starting only after re-gassing

If your car’s engine does not “want” to stall, then you need to check the power relay, idle speed sensor, ignition and spark plugs. Using high quality fuel can also help with this, but will not completely solve the problem.

  • Part 2 of 3: Diagnosing a “diesel” engine if it does not stall immediately.
      Step 1. Carburetor or injector?
  • Step 2: Check idle speed
  • Step 3: Check the Solenoid Valve to Eliminate Dieseling
  • Step 4: Check the ignition timing
  • Step 5: Check the spark plugs
  • Part 3 of 3: Fighting carbon deposits
      Step 1: Try Engine Cleaning Supplements
  • Step 2: Change fuel
  • The generator does not start when starting only after re-gassing

    I recently became the owner of an alarm system with auto start and discovered the following thing: when you start the car with a cold engine, the generator is excited only after re-engineering.
    Is this glitch observed only in autorun mode or does it (or did it?) occur?

    No, the belt is fine. I checked that it was tight. They say that the tenth family has a disease. If you don’t believe me, let him start it when it’s cold (the main thing is not to press the gas) and look at the voltage on the on-board computer.

    1) Put the key in the 1st position. There is no need to start the engine. 2) Set the multimeter to DC voltage measurement mode. You remove the excitation chip from the generator, measure the voltage between the chip and ground. It should be about 6 Volts (if there is a resistor in the device) and about 12 Volts if there is no resistor in the device:

    3) Switch the multimeter to DC measurement mode (10 or 20 A “unfused”, depending on the type of multimeter). You stick one end into the chip, and with the other you touch the output of the regulator on the generator (from which you removed the chip):

    The multimeter should show about 140 mA if there is a resistor in the device and about 240 mA if there is no resistor:

    If everything went well in steps 2 and 3, look at the small bridge diodes, regulator and brushes.

    Common battery problems:

    • short circuit of battery electrodes/plates;
    • mechanical or chemical damage to the battery plates;
    • violation of the tightness of battery cans - cracks in the battery case as a result of impacts or improper installation;
    • chemical oxidation of the battery terminals. The main causes of these malfunctions are:
    • gross violations of operating rules;
    • expiration of the product's service life;
    • various manufacturing defects.

    It is very useful for a motorist to know the main causes of generator malfunctions , how to eliminate them, as well as preventive measures to prevent breakdowns.

    All generators are divided into alternating and direct current generators. Modern passenger vehicles are equipped with alternating current generators with a built-in diode bridge (rectifier). The latter is necessary to convert current into direct current, on which the vehicle's electrical consumers operate. The rectifier, as a rule, is located in the cover or housing of the generator and is integral with the latter.

    Looking for excitement...

    Yes, that's such an intricate title. But don’t think that “sYskizhOpe” will begin now))) Although, this is clearly missing from my feed))

    Now let's get serious! The problem is this: early in the morning on May 1st, I could not start the car. The battery was so empty that the alarm refused to work. The voltmeter reading showed me 8V. “Kaaak?” I thought. After all, I just arrived from the village last night, the car stood for only 6 hours. The charging light was not on - everything seemed to be in order. But as it turned out, it did not burn even after turning on the ignition.

    Everything is clear, the excitement is gone and the last trip was on the battery. The first thing I did was install another relay-regulator, which was lying in my trunk as a spare. The result is zero, there is no excitement, the car stalls as soon as you disconnect the terminal from the battery. Well, I thought, the time has come - the generator has finally died. Considering that for a year now the light bulb has been observed to burn during a cold start and go away with a slight increase in speed. For note, a native Bosch generator from 1990 is installed. at 90A, which I had to disassemble to replace the bearings. It was then that it was established that nothing had been changed in it except the bearings. Even the brush assembly was original. Having a spare generator from a donor, but not being able to get to it, I decided to try to take the “faulty” generator for repair to the specialized service “Forsazh”, which is known to many residents of my city. Other services that were closer to me were closed due to holidays. And to my surprise, after 15 minutes, they call me with the words “come and pick it up, the generator is fully working.” And here everything got mixed up in my head.

    After the generator returned to its workplace, no miracle happened, NO excitement
