Do you know how to determine the Starline alarm model using the key fob? It is noteworthy that for each model range the manufacturer produces unique keychains. They not only differ in appearance, but are also not registered under a “non-native” system module.
To determine the alarm model using the key fob, pay attention to the following details:
- Body shape and color;
- Display (orientation, icons);
- Antenna (external or built-in);
- Number and shape of buttons.
Starline has a huge number of modifications. The situation is aggravated by the continued demand for models of previous generations (no longer produced, but still in use on the market). To find out for sure which Starline alarm system is installed specifically on your car, you should learn to understand all its model ranges.
Shall we try together? But, in order
Four lines of keychains: characteristic features
You can determine the Starline alarm model by the appearance of the main key fob. Difficulties may arise when classifying a system by a spare remote control without feedback - different models often do not differ.
Help in determining:
- characteristic shape of the remote control;
- control buttons and their location;
- indicators on the display.
Model range A
The characteristic antenna of the key fob will help you identify whether the car alarm belongs to older Starline models. It is protected by a black casing separate from the body.
Keychain Starline A4
In addition, you can identify a specific model by the icons on the display:
- StarLine A4 features a large car image;
- you can distinguish Starline A6 from A8/A9 by the icons on the left side of the key fob;
- Starline A61 and A91 Dialog key fobs are similar to the B series models, but the inscriptions on the display are in Russian;
- the more modern A64/A94 and A63/A93 are radically different from the earlier A-series models.

Model range B
In Starline B series alarm communicators, the antenna is combined with the processor in a monolithic housing. The figured protrusion with notches has become a characteristic feature of the keychains of this model range.
Signal remote control B6 and B9 can only be distinguished by the inscriptions on the display - they have different icons on the bottom row.
Differences between key fobs models B6/B9
The remote controls of more modern models B62/B92 are distinguished by smoothed edges. The latest generation of the B series retained a similar body, but the display changed from LCD to OLED.

Model identification by built-in functions
If it is not possible to determine the exact alarm model using the key fob, you can try to identify the system by its functions. Each brand has its own options and characteristic operating modes; if the alarm is installed correctly, then all of them should function. For example, all models with auto start will definitely have the number “9” in their name, which significantly narrows the search range. The procedure for enabling options can be found in the instructions for the specific model.

SMS control
SMS control is carried out by sending messages to the car number. The list of commands can be found in the instructions. The main ones have similar names with voice control. But there are additional command names.
SMS control commands
It is important to note that SMS control has somewhat greater capabilities. For example, the owner can start or stop the pre-heater, activate the “PANIC” mode, request data on the balance, GSM status, and enable “Anti-robbery”. Also, only via SMS the authorization code is reset.
Determining the brand from the accompanying documentation for the car
If you left accompanying documents when purchasing a car, you can determine the service center where the car was serviced or where the alarm system was installed. Video “Overview of Starline alarms”
An overview of the StarLine alarm model range is presented by the Avtokasta channel. ru.
According to statistics, only 20% of cars are purchased at car dealerships, the rest are purchased second-hand. In view of this, there are very common cases when the new owner remains in the dark about which starline alarm model he got. To avoid getting into trouble, it is necessary to identify the model using the key fob in advance, since if this is not done, there is a high risk of simply remaining locked in the cabin of your own car.
Situations are widespread when the Starline alarm key fob is the only one of its kind and has no analogues, and the risk of its breakage or loss is extremely high. Therefore, it is better to take care in advance and find out the starline alarm model, and in case of an emergency, purchase a new one.
Using Internet services
You can determine the Starline car alarm model using the key fob using the following Internet services:
- The official Starline website contains an online catalog of both existing alarm models and discontinued samples. Each security system presented on the resource has an image of a control key fob. The user has the opportunity to visually compare his remote control with the pictures posted on the website and identify the model range and device number.
- In addition to official sources, you can use the resource “Theft. No". It also contains images of key fobs of various alarm brands, including Starline. In addition, the specialists of this site have created a community where the car owner has the opportunity to post a photo of the remote control and receive comments from other users who may know the answer.
- There is another option for identifying the device - using the Google image search engine. You should take a photo of the keychain, preferably in good quality, and upload the image to the search. Google will find all similar images, under which the car owner can look at the name of the model and determine which series it belongs to.
Searching for a photo of a key fob on Google is done step by step like this:
1. Click on the icon
2. Select the “Upload file” tab
3. Select the desired image and click “Open”
4. Search result
How to identify a model by markings
The ideal case is when the starline key fob still contains barcode markings and identification marks.
But, as practice shows, due to mechanical environmental factors and indigestible operating conditions, this marking simply disappears or is erased beyond recognition.
In most situations, the starline alarm type can be duplicated under the cover, but this is not always the case.
How to determine the alarm model if markings are not available?
Characteristic features of starline lines
Today, the anti-theft device market offers a huge variety of car alarms. Starline is no exception to the rule. Therefore, in order to accurately establish your key fob model, first of all, you need to identify the starline model range. The manufacturer of this brand offers its consumers 4 lines of key fobs: “A”, “B”, “D” and “E”. By each of the letters you can judge the class of the car alarm. In the case of starline, these are entry-level car alarms, premium-class, complete and expensive lines with built-in modules and locking mechanisms.
"E". This model range is characterized by a relatively low cost and the presence of auto start. Despite the budget option, the level of security of the “E” line is not inferior to other starline series. The lineup is represented by two models – E60 and E90. The presence of a shock sensor and a built-in tilt sensor is another distinctive feature of this model range. By the absence of a CAN module, you can also identify the “E” line. |
"A". The widest range of starline keychains. A6 and A9 are representatives of the first generation of starline key fobs, which have long been replaced by updated models, including the “fresh” model of 2014 (A93). Older models (A62) are not equipped with auto start, unlike their successors A94 and A93. This model range is also characterized by the presence of a 128-channel transceiver. |
"IN". The only representative of this model range that is not equipped with autostart is starline B64. StarLine b94, B94 GSM, B94 GSMGPS - have this function. A distinctive feature of this line is the built-in tracking service (implemented using the website starline-online.ru). This line can also be identified thanks to the built-in 512-channel transceiver. |
"D". Key rings in this line have large overall dimensions, unlike other representatives of the starline model range. The main purpose of the “D” series is use on SUVs, as evidenced by the corresponding image on the display. Starline B64 does not have autostart; D94 GSM, D94 are equipped with a similar function. As a rule, this series comes with 3 replaceable sockets. |
List of commands
The required command code is included in the SMS message. The control method is implemented on an interactive basis, which gives confidence in receiving reliable information on the transmitted request. If an incorrect code is sent, error information will appear in the response. To find out the list of codes and the decoding of commands, you need to dial 0 on your phone. Information is presented in audio format.
Basic Commands
The list includes commands that can be executed by the security system.
Code | Purpose |
10 | Disable security function |
11 | Enable security function |
12, 13, 14, 15 | Enable alarm by disabling shock, tilt and additional sensors |
20 | Stop the engine |
21 | Start the engine |
31 | Enable anti-robbery mode |
41 | Vehicle condition data |
50 | Disable valet mode |
51 | Enable valet mode |
The anti-robbery function is disabled using the service button by entering a personal identifier code.
Information commands
The transmission of information codes by the A93 model security complex involves receiving answers about the car’s coordinates, signal level, time, etc.
Code | Purpose |
01(…) | Show command history entries; (...) quantity - 01...08 |
02(…) | Event log entries; (...) quantity - 01...08 |
07 | Phone numbers from the module memory |
08 | Time and coordinates |
09 | Information about GSM signal quality, battery voltage, module software version, LBS |
The response to code 08 will display data on the number of visible GPS satellites, the exact GMT time in Greenwich Mean Time and the location coordinates in decimal format.
GSM settings
Sending an SMS message with code 00591 will allow you to update the software and improve the telematics of the complex. The module update command is sent only from the device with the M1 index. Having received the signal, the device connects to the StarLine server.
When connected to the server, the module sends a message to the M1 phone about the update progress, accepts the new software, interrupts the connection and performs self-programming. After downloading the full update package, the device automatically reboots. If the update is successful, a corresponding SMS notification will be sent to your M1 phone.
The software update takes several minutes, during which the module does not perform any functions other than updating the software.
Starline model identification by built-in functions
So, if you successfully managed to install the line of your Starline key fob, a specific model can be identified by a set of built-in functions. A specific starline key fob model can be classified by the presence of built-in functions, operating modes, and sensors:

Determination based on the accompanying documentation for the car
There is a high probability that the car you purchased (used) was serviced at the same service center where it was originally purchased. Therefore, there is a reason to look at the accompanying documentation for the car and find a service center that installed and serviced the starline alarm system. All necessary information regarding the nuances relating to your car should be stored in this service center (including regarding the alarm model). The specialists of this service center must be competent in identifying the starline model.
In addition, you can look for happiness by contacting official representatives of the manufacturer of your car brand. In most cases, an anti-theft device of the same model is installed on vehicles of the same brand. But this option is not always effective, since often the service center meets the buyer halfway and installs an alarm according to his preference.
Be that as it may, the best way to determine the starline alarm model using the key fob is to contact any company specializing in the installation and maintenance of starline alarms. In this case, you will absolutely and accurately receive reliable information regarding the model of your starline key fob.
Employees of such companies, as a rule, have a complete and updated data bank of all modifications of starline key fobs currently used.

Necessity
Of course, the vast majority of users know their phone number, since they remember it when purchasing a SIM card (it is given in the standard documentation for the tariff and/or SIM card).
But the user may, for example, lose this documentation at the very beginning of use, when he has not yet remembered the number.
In addition, this may be necessary in the case where a fairly large number of unused SIM cards with different numbers are stored at home, for example, with old tariffs or registered in a different name.
In what cases might you even need to know your number, other than giving it to your friends so that they can contact you?
You need to know the phone number to perform the following manipulations:
2To sign up for a paid subscription to channels, audio libraries, video libraries located on the network;
3For issuing credit and bank cards, as well as discount and gift cards for various stores;
4To replenish your account, and we are talking about both physical (via terminals) and virtual (via the Internet) replenishment;
5To register for events, purchase tickets, participate in competitions, etc.
In fact, the reality is that nowadays, in almost any interaction with the administration of sites, institutions, etc., during any, both virtual and physical registration, the potential participant is asked for his phone number. Therefore, ignorance of this data can significantly complicate the subscriber’s life.

Starline models
The entire range of StarLine alarm models is divided into levels that determine the cost of the equipment. There are modern models that have a large number of options and additional functions. And there are alarms that have already been discontinued, but you should also know their markings.
On a note!
Based on the principle of operation, car alarms are divided into devices with automatic engine start and those without an automatic device.
The manufacturer produces 5 lines of key fobs, which indicate the alarm class and differ in functionality and appearance. These categories are designated by letters:
- A - belongs to the most diverse line; they install a 128-channel transceiver;
- B – have a built-in tracking service and are equipped with a 512-channel transceiver;
- C – limited in assortment, available only in blue or gray casing;
- D – large in size with an image of an SUV on the screen;
- E is an economy class line with automatic start, which has shock and tilt sensors.
Discontinued
There are alarms that are no longer issued. From series A these are StarLine A8, A9, A6, A4 keychains. This is the old generation of Twage, which is characterized by key fobs with an antenna, which was protected by a separate housing. It was at the junction of the two parts that the device constantly broke down.
The B-series, which was released simultaneously with the A, had a more robust body. It had only two halves, where the antenna was covered with a kind of protrusion. Later the shape changed and the antenna was removed. The B62 and B92 cases were the same, differing only in the order of the icons. The Starline B9 and B6 alarm systems were removed from production.
As for the C series, in appearance they are somewhat reminiscent of the B line. The significant difference is the C-series case, made in two colors. A constant problem is frequent damage and cracks to the eyelet to which the carabiner is attached. Starline C4, C6 and C9 have been discontinued. In the same design, devices without autorun were distinguished by the bottom row of labels on the screen (B6 Dialog and A61 Dialog).
The D series uses key fobs with four buttons, while the A91/A61 has only 3 buttons, the fourth only turns on the screen backlight. The photo shows the types of key fobs A61 and A91 with a key fob from the D series with 4 buttons. Then Dialog was improved, adding flexible programmable additional channels. The family received a new name Dialog Flex. The design of the key fob was revised and the antenna was removed.
New models
In the A-version, the key fobs were constantly changing. Thus, in the A93/A63 model it initially had a shape similar to a parallelepiped with edges shifted to the sides. One button remained separately on the ledge. The key fob is still relevant in the latest models, only the display has been changed. It became the same as in Starline systems with autostart.
On a note!
Regardless of the device configuration, each alarm has a standard set of functions. They include the same degree of tamper resistance, optional configuration of GSM and GPS modules and the presence of a three-axis 3D tilt and impact measurement mechanism.
Then a full-fledged new generation Series A was launched onto the market. In terms of design, it turned out to be the same as Dialog Flex, the main difference is the installation of a CAN module. In parallel with this Starline line, the D series of car alarms for SUVs was released. The keychain became rectangular in shape and came in two color options: red and blue. Unlike A61 and A91, StarLine D64 and D94 have a fourth button that is functional. There are no more differences between the key fobs.
New models produced depending on qualifications:
- Series B. The shape of the key fob and the display remain the same.
- Series E. The design of the key fob in the updated models has not changed. Only the device in the fifth generation Starline E95 and E65 underwent modification. The screen became vertical, the graphics changed.
- Series A. The screen has changed to the same as in the E-series.
- Series D. Updated screen, as in series A and E. The shape of the key fob has become rectangular in red.
The latest key fobs are sixth generation alarm systems. A new X-model has been added to the B-series, which is similar in appearance to the models of the previous B-series. The display again acquired a horizontal position, but the interface colors were inherited from fifth-generation devices. Instead of LCD, an OLED screen is now installed.
In StarLine A66 and A96, the case again acquired a beveled shape, and the screen was made new with a predominant color. In the E series, the screen again acquired a horizontal position. In terms of external parameters, the key fob has become much simpler than in the fifth generation.
