Replacing windshield wiper blades

Not long ago it was noticed that the windshield wiper blades were slightly leaking water, leaving streaks, and that’s when I started thinking about replacing them. What to put? Size? I really like the Denso hybrid brushes, which I constantly put on Getz, for example, here’s the BZ, or I still put the same brushes on the Turtle, here’s the BZ, but they have a “hook” mount, but here we have Renault

Thinking about what to order, which ones to buy, and so on, while walking around the supermarket, I went into the auto department and saw the following there

I twirled the brushes in my hands and liked them. All that remains is to find out the required length and article number for ordering, to understand the article number, I took a photo of number 284,000 - this is 600mm and this is 276,000 - this is 400mm

After measuring the length of the standard brushes, it turned out that the driver's (left) is 650mm, but the small one, also known as the passenger's (right) is 360mm! Yes, yes, yes, not 350! We managed to find the following: HEYNER 286 000 - 650mm/26

Where can I buy?

You can buy windshield wiper blades for Lada X-Ray in many online stores. Some suggestions are given in the table.

The other day I had to replace the windshield wiper blades because... The old ones started to streak a little, and in addition, the fastening on the passenger blade broke (((When the wipers were turned on, it simply turned in a leash and after that did not fix itself in any way. It’s good that at least it didn’t fly away and the glass didn’t break.

Relatively recently, I already had to change wipers and then, when purchasing, I encountered a certain problem. Namely, the presence of an adapter for our windshield wiper arms. www.drive2.ru/l/551657420321983474/

And so, having studied the assortment, as well as the price-quality ratio, I purchased a set of BOSCH Aerotwin A 422 S 650/400 mm windshield wiper blades. Art. 3397007422

These brushes initially come with the necessary fastening without any adapters.

For those who don’t already know, on our car model the mount used is called “Bayonet lock” or “Bayonet arm”. And from the factory the Lada XRAY is equipped with brushes of the following sizes:

-driver brush - 650 mm; -passenger brush - 360 mm.

There was also this rather popular option from our brother: a set of windshield wiper blades BOSCH Aerotwin A 868 S 650/340 mm. Art.3397007868

But I was confused by the length of the passenger wiper, because... it is 20 mm. It’s shorter than the standard one, and I already had it at 380 mm before. But somehow I didn’t want to put a smaller size than it was.

The replacement is simple - remove the old ones, plug in the new ones. There was a gap between the brushes after installation

When the wipers work, nothing touches anything, the rubber bands do not creak. I thought that if it caught, I would throw the leash itself over a couple of slots. But it turned out that everything was fine.

Now is the rainy season and the brushes are doing their job as they should.

Dimensions

The driver and passenger side brush lengths are different. The difference is small - only 20 mm. If possible, avoid installing brushes of the same length. Otherwise, a path of water will form in the middle of the windshield during rain. Which will lead to a significant deterioration in visibility. The rear window is equipped with a 300 mm long brush.

The rear hemisphere allows for the installation of a brush 400 mm long. In this case, the lower part of the window will not be affected. But you will have to limit the stroke of the brush on the gearbox. To do this, you need to disassemble the motor that drives the brush.

Winter

Winter wipers are distinguished by their elasticity - even at sub-zero temperatures they clean the glass well. The effect is achieved by adding rubber to the rubber composition. It retains its flexibility regardless of the ambient temperature. As a result, its cleaning qualities do not change in any way.

When choosing new wipers, take into account:

• mode of operation of the vehicle,
• maximum driving speed,
• the region in which the car is located.

If the car is used in the Far North, then it is advisable to purchase winter brushes. Driving at speeds over 100 km/h - the windshield will only be cleaned with the proper aerodynamic shape (frameless, hybrid blades). If you have no experience, you should contact a consultant.
