There are two ways to identify errors in Grant and its analogues. Both methods have clear advantages and disadvantages.
Self-diagnosis of Lada Granta
If you find an error code P0217, then you can say with confidence that the engine has heated up significantly above the permissible limit. P0230, there was a breakdown in the fuel pump relay circuit. With P0261 (263, 264, 266, 267, 269, 72), you can be completely sure that there are problems with any injector. Moreover, the faults will be either in the control circuit or in a non-functioning driver.
With errors P0262 (268, 270, 271) - there were malfunctions with the cylinder injectors in terms of control circuit shorts. A detailed inspection may also indicate a complete failure of any of the cylinders.

The following errors may not be relevant for some vehicle modifications. If the decoding or codes do not match, it is recommended to consult the machine’s service manual.

Errors P0300 indicate a misfire
P0300 (301, 304) - misfire. Moreover, they can be either random or multiple. Moreover, the higher the error code number, the higher the number designation of the cylinder itself.
Errors P0326 (327, 328) indicate a malfunction in the knock sensor circuit. With a detailed analysis, you can detect a signal completely leaving the permissible range or detecting a signal at a critical level, which can be either too high or low.
It is worth paying attention to errors with numbers P0335 (336, 337, 363). They indicate that the circuit leading to the crankshaft displacement sensor is broken or out of range where it should be working. They may also indicate that the ignition coil of the fourth cylinder is faulty or there is an open circuit in the control circuit. Gaps in the ignition system may be detected, which can completely cut off the fuel supply to idle cylinders.

Today, the domestic model Lada Granta is a sales leader. Initially, the name of the new model was given a lot of words, Low Cost, which translated from English means “low price”. But later it was decided to replace this name with something more sonorous and bright. So, having selected one, Grant, from hundreds of thousands of items, AvtoVAZ began to establish serial production. In 2009, our compatriots saw the first copies of the Lada Grant.
Of course, she was strikingly different from Kalina, and even more so from previous projects. There was no longer that laconic modesty inherent in domestic developments; this car attracted attention with its alluring, elegant forms, an abundance of extraordinary design solutions, and an excellent technical component. It was no longer a shame to show such a car to a global audience, which is what they did.
Granta Sport has repeatedly performed at major international competitions, taking prestigious places. This is how AvtoVAZ’s new idea debuted. But, in addition to the undeniable advantages, there are also flaws in Grant. Here and there there are annoying breakdowns, reminding us that we still have a domestic car in front of us, which is not fully thought out and is still far from ideal.
How to reset an error on Grant
In the Lada Granta, the check error “pops up” relatively often. This is caused by the presence of a large number of auxiliary equipment and electronic modules in the engine compartment.

If everything is done correctly, the errors will be cleared. The method is not suitable for complex failures - some errors cannot be canceled this way.
To completely remove codes from the on-board computer’s memory, it is performed using special diagnostic equipment. Devices must be purchased separately in case of constant need. Purchasing a scanner to service one car is not economically feasible.

This is due to the fact that the control oxygen sensor requires information about the concentration of the air-fuel mixture to be transmitted to the control unit. The sensor itself is located directly in the exhaust pipe, without touching the catalytic converter. The engine control unit is located behind the oxygen sensor when the closed-cycle operating time has passed. In addition, the composition of the air-fuel mixture itself is directly regulated by increasing or decreasing the pulses that occur when the injector opens.
Since most domestic car enthusiasts cannot afford to purchase a foreign car, the Lada Granta can easily play the role of a high-quality and complete replacement. Therefore, if any errors or malfunctions occur, the owner should find out the cause as quickly as possible and, if possible, try to fix the problem themselves. This will save not only time, but also very significant money that would have to be paid for contacting a service station.
Replacing a generator on a car with a 16-valve engine
Dismantling and subsequent installation of the device on Grant modifications with a 16-valve power unit have their own characteristics: there is a belt tensioner. Therefore, the procedure for removal and installation is somewhat more complicated. As in the previous case, you will need a standard set of tools, and before starting work, the negative terminal of the battery is disconnected. It is necessary to remove the engine protection, if any. After this, you can begin to remove the unit by following these steps:
- Disconnect the wiring harness from the generator.
- Remove the cap covering the power wire.
- Using a “10” wrench, unscrew the nut that holds the wire tip.
- Use a key set to “13” to loosen the tension bar nut.
- Loosen the belt by unscrewing the adjusting bolt to the left.
- Move the generator to the right and remove the belt.
- Unscrew the adjustment bolt completely and remove it.
- Remove the tension bar.
- Unscrew the fastening nut from below.
- Remove the bushing and remove the bolt holding the lower mount.
- Remove the generator.
To install, do all the steps starting from the end, then tighten the belt.
Diagnostics and testing of the electronic gas pedal
VAZ supplies LADA GRANTA cars with an electronic gas pedal (E-gas) to comply with modern environmental standards. If the pedal is malfunctioning (no responsiveness or increased engine speed when changing speed on the gearbox), then before dismantling and checking the unit with a multimeter, read the errors through the OBD2 connector.

Removing errors will not help here; you need to eliminate the cause of the breakdown and only then erase the errors. If errors are indicated and the pedal does not work stably, you should adjust the sensitivity of the gas pedal itself, it should become more responsive.
Should I take it or not?
Don't ask the seller why he's giving his to Grant, congratulate him on it! LADA Granta is by no means a masterpiece. If you have golden hands from the right place, then repairing Granta can even be a pleasure, because everything in it will break down often. But it's cheap. Granta is the best way to get acquainted with the world of spare parts and problems during operation.
In addition, when buying a used Grant, do not forget that its history may be far from ideal.

Instrument cluster diagnostics
You can diagnose faults on your car. To do this, turn on the ignition while continuously pressing the Reset button. Next, the LCD is monitored and all segment positions are displayed on it. Now you need to activate the button closest to you on the control panel, after which the version of the firmware made should be displayed on the screen. Press any control button again. If there are errors in the Lada Granta, special digital symbols should be displayed on the first two lines of the screen, which, in turn, may indicate various malfunctions.
Presence of increased voltage in the on-board system. If within 20 seconds the on-board computer was unable to detect a malfunction in the Lada Granta, then three significant error signals may occur. The first in this case indicates an open circuit in the sensor responsible for reading the fuel level. The second reacts to an open circuit in the sensor circuit that responds to the coolant temperature. And the third detects errors when the outside temperature sensor circuit is broken, which is within minus levels.
Next come error signals that directly indicate that the engine has overheated, emergency oil pressure levels, a defect in the brake system, or a completely discharged battery.
Errors in the data packet are detected. To clear error codes, press and hold the Reset button for a few seconds. Now press any of the control buttons, thanks to which the LCD control will start and all the necessary segment positions required for high-quality control will light up.
