How to make a replacement

Stages of work

Locate the drain hole. It is located to the left of the crankcase, between the engine and the left wheel. Then change the oil using the following algorithm:

• Clean the box body and drain hole from dirt with a wire brush.
• Place a container under the drain hole to collect the transmission fluid, which will immediately pour out after unscrewing the plug.

• Close the drain hole with a plug, replacing the rubber gasket with a new one.

Level control

Checking the transmission fluid level in the Renault Logan gearbox is a troublesome but simple procedure, which is usually carried out in an inspection pit or on an overpass. It is important to ensure that the car is positioned strictly horizontally, without distortions, otherwise the lubricant will be underfilled.

What is needed to control the oil level in the box?

To measure the liquid, you will need the following:

• steel rod (probe);
• 8 and 10 mm wrenches.

The Renault Logan manual transmission does not have a dipstick for checking the transmission oil level. Control is carried out through a hole with a white plastic screw in the front of the box. The lid can be easily unscrewed by hand, but before doing this, place a container in case liquid leaks out. Then insert a metal rod at a right angle into the filler hole, pull it out and inspect its surface. If the dipstick is clean, there is not enough lubricant.
