You should also prepare a lift or inspection hole, since changing the oil when the car is on a jack is extremely inconvenient.

To perform all work on changing the oil in the VAZ 2110 gearbox, you will need the following tools:

  1. A container for draining old fluid, with a volume of at least 4 liters.
  2. Socket wrench set to "17".
  3. Rags.
  4. Funnel or large syringe.

Required volume

Before buying motor oil, you need to decide on the volume. The best option is to purchase a 4-liter canister, which will last for a long time. This is convenient, because you can add the remaining liquid as the liquid is consumed, without worrying about buying a new one every time.

Well, now specifically about the one-time filling volume. The engine model plays an important role here. The VAZ 2110 used two engine variations. This is an 8-valve and 16-valve engine. In the first case, the volume of the oil sump is 3.2 liters, and in the second - 3.5 liters.

Sequence of work

Note: You can drain the oil without removing the protection, since there is a hole in it. However, then, at the moment the cork is pulled out, the stream will rush onto the protection and spread over it, and from there to the floor, you see, is not very pleasant. It's easier to unscrew the protection and remove it.

  • So, we remove the protection, and then proceed to replacement
  • It is necessary to install a waste container under the drain hole, taking into account the stream, so as not to miss

  • Using a prepared spanner wrench “17”, unscrew the plug from the drain hole

  • Remove the plug and drain the oil into the container
  • After waiting for it to completely drain (the stream has dried up), screw the plug back into place.

Advice: If the oil we drained from the box contains metal particles, and the oil itself is dark in color, then it is recommended to pre-rinse the box. To do this, pour 1-1.5 liters of flushing oil into the gearbox. Then you should hang up one of the drive wheels, start the engine and engage first gear. Stop the engine after 5 minutes, drain the flush and fill the VAZ 2110 with only new transmission oil (according to the manufacturer’s recommendations)

  • Then we take out the dipstick with which we check the level (see the second photo after the heading “checking the level”)
  • Wipe the dipstick with a rag
  • Then install the funnel and pour lubricant into the hole from the dipstick, or use a syringe

  • The VAZ 2110 oil for the gearbox includes 3.3 liters
  • We control the level using the dipstick
  • Then we return it to its place

We drained the old transmission fluid, and now we need to tighten the plug and start pouring new lubricant. If you find metal impurities or shavings in the used oil, the gearbox must be flushed. Proceed according to the following instructions:

  1. To flush the gearbox, you need to pour a liter of special flushing oil into the crankcase and start the engine. The front wheels are raised and gears are changed with a delay of 5-10 seconds in each position.
  2. Stop the engine and drain the flushing fluid.
  3. Screw the drain plug into place.
  4. Pull out the dipstick and insert a funnel into the oil filler hole, and then pour new oil through it.
  5. Insert the dipstick into place, after wiping it with a rag.
  6. Pull it out and check the level - it should be within the normal range, being between the two marks.

On some VAZ 2110 models there is no dipstick, and the oil filler neck is located above the drain hole. In this case, it is necessary to replace the fluid using a syringe, pouring new fluid to the level of the lower edge of the filler hole.
