We disable the immobilizer on the VAZ-2110 with our own hands (without firmware)

Anti-theft protection for domestic cars until the end of the last century consisted of using a steering wheel lock. This was the end of all standard security measures. The VAZ-2110 with a carburetor eight-valve engine had from the factory the same security system as all VAZ classics. However, since the beginning of the 2000s, when the injection system was integrated into the eight engine, it became possible to install an immobilizer. Oddly enough, most owners of injection engines think about how to disable the standard anti-theft system. Why and how to do this, we will try to find out today.

Warning: you will have to register the keys!

Read and analyze what is given below:

  1. You can activate the Valet mode on the APS-4 immobilizer only with a “red” training key;
  2. You can also disable Valet mode using a training key, and not some other one;
  3. The main thing is that the “disabling” procedure will be combined with “registering user keys”;
  4. If, when disabling Valet mode, you do not register user keys, then the immobilizer will not recognize them!

Usually it all ends with the service mode being successfully disabled, but they forget to register the keys. And then all that remains is to use one key - the training one. What is wrong.

Keychains “Tens”, red – educational

Note: you can disable the standard alarm system, that is, disarm the immobilizer only with a “black” key. Complete the recording procedure and continue using the keys.

Answer the question whether the immobilizer is actually turned on:

  1. You need to turn off the ignition;
  2. The alarm system, that is, the APS unit, must receive information about closed doors;
  3. The interior lighting will go out;
  4. The immobilizer LED will flash at a frequency of 0.4 Hz, but if the system is not yet activated, the pulse duration will be half a second.

If activation has been completed, short pulses can be observed - their duration is 0.1 seconds.

Contact area in the "Ten VAZ"

If the standard system is not active, it does not interfere with the operation of the auto-start alarm. And then setting the service mode does not make sense.

In some cars of the VAZ-2110 family, the factory decided to install an imported controller - “MP-7 Bosch”. In this case, the control sequence will differ from the “standard” one. The differences are indicated in the text, and they come down to one or two steps. Be patient.

Types of "defenders"

There are contact and non-contact (today more popular) immobilizers. The former are controlled by a key, for the latter they came up with a special keychain, sometimes a card. They are usually successfully combined with all currently existing anti-theft alarms.

VAZ equipped only models with an injector with this device. When a VAZ 2110 just leaves the production line, its immobilizer does not yet have the protective option enabled. Especially for this, there is a so-called supplied set of keys: two black in color are those that the owner will use in the future, and one is a red master key, with the help of which the immobilizer is “trained,” that is, it activates its protection function. As a rule, “training” is carried out by car dealership employees during the pre-sale preparation of the car. But you can do this yourself, knowing how it works.

The first anti-theft devices installed on the VAZ 2110 were called APS-4. More advanced ones - APS-6, appeared a little later. The reading part is located in the steering column, and the code is in the ignition key. In addition, APS-6 can be used to control electric windows and rear fog lights.

Immobilizer APS-4 with a set of keys

There are often cases when the APS-6 immobilizer is located in an old housing (apparently, the housings were made for years to come). In this case, the number 4 is written on the case, but the board itself should have the inscription APS-6. In addition, even microcircuits with such markings produced in different years may differ slightly.

Enabling and disabling APS-4

The immobilizer, even if it is activated, does not interfere with the operation of any car alarm that you decide to connect additionally. The only thing is that autostart will be impossible with it. It is possible to install a crawler or activate the Valet mode. But in the second case, the engine can be started with a blank, and in the first case, you will need to hack the alarm system.

Crawler module

Make a choice.

Shutdown procedure

Of course, here we are looking at how Valet mode is turned on. It will be easy to use:

  1. Turn on the ignition without disarming the car;
  2. The diode starts blinking;
  3. The “red” key fob is brought to the reader, and the ignition is turned off while holding the key fob;
  4. The diode will light continuously and the standard alarm buzzer will sound;
  5. Remove the key fob;
  6. 3-5 seconds after step 3, the diode will start flashing intermittently;
  7. Within 10 seconds, install the key fob on the reader again;
  8. The standard alarm will produce a sound signal lasting one second, the diode will light continuously;
  9. The key fob is removed and the ignition is turned on within 10 seconds;
  10. The buzzer emits a short signal and the ignition is turned off.

A sequence is considered that allows you to programmatically disable the APS unit. For the Bosch MP7 controller, step 9 looks different.

ECU MP-7.0

Now it will be said exactly how.

Imagine that step "9" is replaced by the following three:

  1. Remove the key fob, then turn on the ignition within 10 seconds;
  2. Without waiting for the sound signal, the ignition is turned off after 2 seconds;
  3. The buzzer sounds.

Using this sequence, the Valet mode is installed in those cars where the MP-7 ECU controller is used. VAZ cars with this controller are not uncommon. By the way, the statement almost does not apply to the 2110 family: the “Ten” was more often equipped with a domestic ECU unit.

All the sequences given above will be useless for APS-6 blocks. The VAZ company came up with the idea of making and connecting a new module when they began producing the Chevrolet Niva. Then the “6th block” moved to other cars that were produced after 2003. This means that the warning does not apply to the VAZ-2110 family.

How to get it all back

Let's say Valet mode needs to be turned off. Then you will need to take a training key fob, and at the same time you need to grab the key fobs used for disarming. Actions are carried out in the following sequence:

  1. Turn on the ignition, bring the training key fob to the reader;
  2. While holding the key fob in place, turn off the ignition;
  3. The standard buzzer should emit a signal, after which the key fob is removed;
  4. 3-5 seconds after “step 2” the diode begins to blink;
  5. When the diode blinks, a “black” key fob is brought to the reader;
  6. The standard alarm buzzer will sound again;
  7. After step “6” teach the next keychain;
  8. While the diode is blinking, a “red” key fob is brought to the reader;
  9. The diode will start to glow steadily;
  10. You need to turn on the ignition immediately;
  11. For the MP-7 ECU, the ignition is turned off after 1-2 seconds;
  12. For controllers other than MP-7, the ignition is turned off after the sound signal;
  13. Wait at least 10 seconds.

The installation, that is, the activation of the security mode, was completed completely. But, don't rush.

The APS unit is connected to the ECU

Any car alarm system that uses a one-way code is characterized by the phenomenon of loss of synchronization of the operation of elements (blocks). When we talk about the VAZ immobilizer, this is what we mean: the ECU and APS units lose synchronization.

Let's perform the resynchronization procedure:

  1. They open the door, disable the security with a “black” key fob;
  2. Turn on the ignition;
  3. If the diode blinks at a frequency of 1 Hertz, you need to turn off the ignition and wait 15 seconds.

After completing step 3, the system is ready for use. In general, synchronization is lost when key fobs are registered. But this will also happen if you disconnect and then reconnect cord 28 (line “K”).

Note: do not try to register a key fob used in another LADA car! You need “standard” key fobs or new ones.

Immobilizer VAZ-2110: safety requires sacrifices

It doesn't work without sacrifices. VAZ standard immobilizers have been bringing their owners more hassle than benefit for almost 20 years.

Frequent groundless failures, refusals to start, incompatibility with other security systems, unreliability of the elementary base and jambs during assembly force us to disable the standard immobilizer by any means. But first, let’s briefly look at the principle of operation of the device in order to understand how to deal with it.

Principle of operation

The principle of operation of the immobilizer.

The operating principle of any simple immobilizer is ridiculously simple - the device communicates with the engine control unit and gives a certain signal when unauthorized access is attempted. The ECU, in turn, gives or does not give permission to start the engine. It happens like this - to start the engine, it is necessary for the immobilizer to accept the key and only after successful initialization it sends an enabling signal to the ECU. Even in the case when the key fully fits the lock, but is not initialized by the immobilizer, the latter will send a prohibiting signal to the ECU, and the unit will turn off the fuel pump and ignition system. Consequently, starting the engine will be impossible.

Tips for installing crawler

To give the Tens engine the ability to autostart, you can install a crawler. The problem is that the code reader in VAZ-2110 cars is not standard. This leads to the following conclusion:

  1. The purchased crawler is included in the reader loop gap. Any other option is excluded.
  2. You can make an additional antenna yourself. It must correspond to the antenna that is installed in the VAZ reader (410 µH, 25 Ohm).

Let's look at how to connect a crawler purchased in a store:

Inclusion of a trouser loop in a gap

The black wire shown in the diagram goes to the alarm control output.

Usually they purchase a device that is not compatible with the inclusion of a standard loop in the gap. Comments are unnecessary here. Mistakes are also made during installation: in the BP-5 lineman they use the XS4 terminal block instead of the XS3, etc.

How does it work

This device works in conjunction with the standard fuel injection system controller. The VAZ immobilizer is connected to the latter in the gap in the K-line between the ECU and the diagnostic connector. To unlock the security device, a key containing a special tag is used. It emits an encrypted access code.

The status indicator has a built-in coil that receives the signal from the transponder built into the key. If the latter was recognized by the car anti-theft device, then it transmits an enabling signal to the controller via the K-line. To unlock the immobilizer, you need to bring the key to the status indicator. If initialization is successful, the immobilizer will allow the engine to start. Otherwise, the controller, upon a signal from the security unit, will turn off the ignition system and the electric fuel pump.

Transferring the antenna to the lock

The standard reader installed on the console of the Lada 2110 can be easily transferred to the ignition switch. The diode is not changed, but the antenna has to be redone:

Antenna coil for reader

A homemade coil should contain 110-120 turns. It is secured under the lock cover and connected instead of the standard antenna.

The homemade device may not work right away. Unwind turns of 10-20 units and look for their optimal number. A homemade antenna, unlike a “factory” one, will be fully compatible with those antennas that are supplied with the lineman. This means that connecting the car alarm will look simpler - you won’t have to break the standard wiring.

How do immobilizers work on VAZ 2110, 2112, 2111 cars?

The main features of all immobilizers are the same, but additional features differ from each other. Since we are talking about a standard VAZ 2110 immobilizer, it has the following capabilities and functions:

  • when attempting to steal, it creates electrical interference that prevents the engine from performing its job properly;
  • blocks all movement systems automatically and completely;
  • can connect to the hood lock, control the closing or unlocking of door locks;
  • There is a possibility of emergency shutdown of the system and its setting to service mode.

The standard immobilizer does not allow the VAZ owner to connect additional locking relays or use many keys to control the system.

Security is disabled only if the owner of the vehicle opens the car and has the immobilizer key with him. The system instantly recognizes this key and gives a command to terminate the security mode. The immobilizer and its key are a single system, but they work separately, which is very convenient.

In what cases should it be disabled?

At first glance, it may seem that disabling the alarm is an unnecessary matter, especially if the immo is working normally.

However, there are certain reasons why a car owner is faced with the need to turn off:

  1. Factory defect, this problem is one of the most common in “tens”. If we are talking about a more updated version, the car may be equipped with an alternative engine starting system, thanks to which the driver can bypass the protection.
  2. A complete discharge of the battery may cause the on-board computer to perceive this situation as an attempt to break in, resulting in a lock. The control unit and the motor exchange data via a diagnostic line, so that if there is no power, the on-board computer records an error.
  3. The control unit blocks the operation of the immo, this can be caused by various reasons. It is quite possible that one phone call to a mobile phone can disrupt the operation of the anti-theft installation. But this problem is more relevant for the first “ten” equipped with immo.
  4. The immobilizer is broken, resulting in the need to replace it.

As you understand, there can be many reasons for dismantling the immo, but removing the device from the connector will not solve the problem (the author of the video about disconnecting the system is the KV Avtoservis channel).

When to disable the immobilizer

It would seem, why would a car owner disable the immobilizer on his VAZ 2110 if the device serves him for his benefit. But there are several reasons that force or force you to do this.

  1. The protection has a design flaw, that is, a manufacturing defect. This is a common problem with the first versions of immobilizers installed on the VAZ 2110. The updated versions have an option for an alternative engine start, which allows you to bypass the protection. It works like this - if the system glitches, an individual six-digit password is entered, the option is activated by pressing the gas pedal the required number of times. The procedure must be done six times. Let's say your password is 255998. You press the pedal twice, wait a little, then press five more, wait again - five more times, wait - press two times nine with breaks, then eight. The function is described in detail in the instructions for the immobilizer, so first of all you need to familiarize yourself with it.
  2. If the battery is completely discharged, the computer may perceive the situation as an error, making it impossible to start the engine. The engine ECU and the anti-theft system exchange information via the diagnostic line, so without power the computer remembers this as an error.
  3. There are many strange and inexplicable reasons why the ECU blocks the immobilizer. For example, there have been episodes when a mobile phone that was turned on or rang at a certain moment knocked down the car’s anti-theft system. Most often, this situation was observed during the first launches of the new VAZ 2110.
  4. A banal failure of the immobilizer and the need to replace it with a new device.

General information

The installation of VAZ immobilizers was put on stream after the manufacturer started producing injection engines. The purpose of the immo is to block the start of the power unit in the event of unauthorized entry into the car. Before installing or disconnecting the device in your car, we suggest that you familiarize yourself in more detail with the varieties, as well as the principle of operation of the system.

Today, cars are equipped with either contact or contactless immobilizers, with the latter being more in demand among consumers. Contact systems are controlled using a key, while contactless systems use a remote control or card. If you don’t know how to connect the alarm to the central locking, then this is quite possible. Installing an alarm system on a VAZ 2110 with your own hands is quite possible with a further combination of the alarm system and immo (the author of the video is the IZO channel))) LENTA).

As for the “dozens,” this type of alarm is found only on injection versions. To control the device there is a set of keys. Red represents the master key, which is used to activate the protection. The black key is used by the owner of the car. The procedure for “learning” or activating the system is usually carried out in the showroom, before the car goes on sale. Although, in principle, connecting the alarm to the central locking of a VAZ with further activation can be done at home.

The first “tens” were equipped with APS-4 systems, but after some time the cars began to be equipped with more modernized versions of APS-6. As for installation, the immobilizer is located either in the steering column, or behind the dashboard, or behind the radio, and the code is in the ignition switch. The APS-6 system does not connect to the VAZ hazard alarm, but can be used to control power windows (if they are electric), as well as fog lights. It should be noted that some APS-6 are equipped with a body from the fourth models, this is probably due to the oversupply of APS-4 production. In this case, the number 4 will be marked on the case, and the diagram itself should have the inscription APS-6.

Principle of operation

If you decide to connect the immo to the central locking of a VAZ 2110, first familiarize yourself with the principle of operation of the system. The operating principle of the immo is based on the exchange of data between the device itself, as well as the control unit. Taking into account a particular situation, the immobilizer determines whether to give permission to start the engine or block it. In the latter case, the ignition circuit and the fuel pump are blocked, making it impossible to start the engine. In other words, if you do not have an immo key, then operating the car will be impossible.

Video “Visual instructions for removing immo from “Ten”

More detailed and visual instructions for disabling the immobilizer on VAZ 2110 cars are given in the video below (the author of the video is Dmitry Epishev).

of rumors that the standard immobilizer is often buggy and only brings problems. But basically these are reviews from cars before 2002, and after which the plant took into account all the comments of the APS-4 immobilizer and corrected them. And on the latest Priora and Kalina cars, APS-6 raises no complaints at all .

Stories from our readers

“Fucking basin. "

Hi all! My name is Mikhail, now I’ll tell you a story about how I managed to exchange my two-wheeler for a 2010 Camry. It all started with the fact that I began to be wildly irritated by the breakdowns of the two-wheeler, it seemed like nothing serious was broken, but damn it, there were so many little things that really started to irritate me. This is where the idea arose that it was time to change the car to a foreign car. The choice fell on the melting Camry of the tenth years.

Yes, I had matured morally, but financially I just couldn’t handle it. I’ll say right away that I am against loans and taking a car, especially not a new one, on credit is unreasonable. My salary is 24k a month, so collecting 600-700 thousand is almost impossible for me. I started looking for different ways to make money on the Internet. You can’t imagine how many scams there are, what I haven’t tried: sports betting, network marketing, and even the volcano casino, where I successfully lost about 10 thousand ((The only direction in which it seemed to me that I could make money was currency trading on the stock exchange, they call it Forex. But when I started delving into it, I realized that it was very difficult for me. I continued to dig further and came across binary options. The essence is the same as in Forex, but it’s much easier to understand. I started reading forums, studying trading strategies. I tried it on a demo account, then opened a real account. To be honest, I didn’t manage to start earning money right away, until I understood all the mechanics of options, I lost about 3,000 rubles, but as it turned out, it was a precious experience. Now I earn 5-7 thousand rubles a day. I managed to get the car buy after half a year, but in my opinion this is a good result, and it’s not about the car, my life has changed, I naturally quit my job, I have more free time for myself and my family. You’ll laugh, but I work directly on the phone)) If If you want to change your life like me, then here’s what I advise you to do right now: 1. Register on the site 2. Practice on a Demo account (it’s free). 3. As soon as you get something on the Demo account, top up your REAL ACCOUNT and go to REAL MONEY! I also advise you to download the application to your phone, it’s much more convenient to work from your phone. Download here.

In addition, in Kalina and Priora the APS chip is already built inside the key , and on the VAZ 2110 the APS chip is placed separately in the form of a key fob , which also causes unnecessary movements
