Second phase

The gearbox is flushed during the fluid replacement process. To flush the rear axle gearbox, you need to mix transmission or engine oil with diesel fuel. The proportion should correspond to 3: 1. Washing consists of the following sequence of actions:

Draining old grease;
Cleaning the system from dirt, sediment and mixture residues;
Wiping all containers and cases;
The prepared mixture is poured into the system;
Next, you should jack up one wheel, start the engine, switching to first gear;
Wait a few minutes;
Drain the flush.

The gearbox is flushed once every 4–6 months, when undergoing scheduled repairs or replacing transmission fluid.

First stage

Having installed the car on the inspection hole, you can begin draining the old oil from the gearbox on the VAZ 2107. The procedure is carried out in the following sequence:

Remove dirt from the drain and filler plugs;
Place a container for draining under the drain plug;
Unscrew the drain plug with a 12 key;
Carefully drain the old oil;
Tighten the drain plug.

This is very important when replacing the rear axle gearbox seal on a VAZ 2107. Unscrew the nut holding the drive gear flange, which is fixed with a special key, and remove the flat washer.

The drive gear oil seal is removed from the crankcase neck of the assembly, for which it is pryed off with a screwdriver.

Installing a new oil seal

So:

The seat is cleaned of traces of corrosion.
Litol-24 lubricant is used to lubricate the working surfaces of the crankcase of the new cuff.
The oil seal is put in place and pressed into the gear housing through a mandrel with light blows of a hammer. The oil seal must not be skewed. The pressing depth is 1.7 - 2 millimeters from the end of the crankcase.

After the oil seal on the VAZ 2107 gearbox has been replaced, the drive gear flange and washer are installed.
The flange is held with a special wrench and the nut securing it is tightened. The tightening torque depends on the moment of resistance of the drive gear to turning, and is equal to 117 - 254 Nm.
It is necessary to start tightening with a smaller torque, periodically checking the resistance moment of the nut being tightened.

Once the VAZ 2107 axle gearbox seal has been replaced, installation of the removed parts is done in the reverse order of removal.

Changing the oil in the steering wheel of a VAZ yourself

Draining: 1) First, check that the car’s engine is warmed up to operating temperature, and if necessary, then get into the car and warm it up so that the engine is warmed up to its operating temperature.

Foreign bodies such as small metal particles, etc. should not be found in the oil, so if unwanted parts are noticed, then you will need to rinse the gearbox from them, but it is not so easy to rinse the gearbox, firstly you will need a special a supercharger with a dispenser (working on the principle of excess pressure) with the help of which it will be possible to direct the oil in the gearbox from bottom to top, but this supercharger is mainly available only in car service centers, therefore we recommend that you wash the gearbox there.

Note! It is recommended that it is best to fill the steering mechanism with TAD 17 transmission oil, but if the car is operated at sub-zero temperatures, then you will have to refuse to fill such oil, because it freezes at sub-zero temperatures!

Filling: Filling the oil back is very simple, through the filler hole using the same syringe new oil is poured into the gearbox housing, that’s basically all, and when the oil is filled in, tighten the top filler plug and you can assume that you have oil changed.

Note! Before tightening the oil filler plug, wipe it completely free of dirt with a clean rag!

Changing the oil - VAZ 2104

Before repair work, you should prepare a little:

Warm up the car - for the engine: start it and let it run for 10 minutes to warm up the oil. For the gearbox and rear axle, you should drive the car for about 10 kilometers. Then the oil will drain better and there will be fewer impurities in the new one.
Purchase the required amount of oil and an oil filter. You will need one canister of engine oil (5 liters - the rest will be left for topping up), and 3 liters of transmission oil (again, it is better to take it with a reserve so as not to run to the store twice).
Find a suitable location for renovation work. An inspection hole is an ideal option. It can be replaced with an overpass.

Changing the oil on a VAZ 21043 is best done in a pit in the garage

Advice! Do not change the oil in the open air while you are under the car. You may end up in oil, and the presence of wind will in no way help speed up the process.

Now that everything is ready, you can change the oil. Begin.

Changing the engine oil

The factory engine protection is designed so that there is access to the oil drain hole. But homemade protections are often installed that completely cover this hole. In this case, you will need to remove the protection.
For the next step you will need a 12mm hexagon. Use it to unscrew the drain plug located in the engine oil pan.
Place the waste container under the stream of oil.
Wait about 10 minutes until the hot oil drains from the pan into the container.
Then you can screw the plug back on.

Advice! Wipe the area around the drain plug with a rag. This is done to better control leakage after an oil change.

Now you can flush the engine. This is done in accordance with the instructions for the flushing oil.
Do not use five-minute washes because they do not flush the engine, they only thin the oil so that it drains better.

After flushing the engine, you can begin replacing the filter and adding oil.
The filter is removed with a puller (although this can often be done simply by hand). Using a puller, pinch the filter and tear it out of place. Then twist it by hand.
Clean the seat under the oil filter from dirt and possible residues of the rubber filter seal using a knife or other sharp object.
Screw the new filter into place BY HANDS, after pouring a little oil into it and lubricating the rubber seal with engine oil.
Now that the filter is installed, you can fill in new oil.
To do this, you need to unscrew the filler neck, which is located under the hood on the valve cover.
Insert a watering can into the filler hole to prevent oil from getting onto the engine.
Fill in the oil and monitor its level in the engine using the oil dipstick.
The oil level should be between the minimum and maximum marks.
After the required amount of oil has been poured into the engine, you can screw the filler plug back in.
Pay attention to the condition of the plug. If it is loose or does not fit tightly in the hole, it is better to replace it.

Checking the condition of the lid

After changing the oil, check the drain plug for leaks. Tighten it if necessary.
Reinstall the engine protection.
Start the car and let it run for about a minute.
In the first 10 seconds the oil pressure indicator should go out.
Then you should check the oil level again and add the required amount.

Changing the transmission oil

Advice! Before changing the oil in the gearbox, clean the gearbox body from dirt, especially the drain and filler plugs.

Take a 12mm hexagon and unscrew the drain plug in the lower gearbox cover.
Place the container and wait until the oil is completely drained from the gearbox.
Then screw the drain plug back on.
Now you will need a 17 key or socket. Unscrew the drain plug, which also serves as the oil level in the gearbox.
Using a syringe, you need to pour oil into the gearbox housing. A syringe can be used either special or homemade, and a watering can with a hose can also be used.
A sufficient amount of oil has been filled - this is when it starts to drip from the filler hole.
Quickly screw back the filler plug to avoid contaminating the surrounding work area.
Wipe the box body with a rag to check for leaks.
Check for leaks from under the plugs and bottom cover. Tighten if necessary.
Clean the breather using a thin wire or needle.
