The design of the model turned out to be very ambiguous. At the same time, the Peugeot 307 turned out to be equally in demand among adults and young people. Reliability and relatively inexpensive maintenance made it one of the most affordable cars in the C segment.

The Peugeot 307 has many classmates, but the model’s main competitors are the Honda Civic and Citroen C4 hatchbacks. The car surpasses its rivals in terms of trunk volume, rear space and useful volume in the cabin. In addition, it has a high level of security.

Generation 1

The history of the model, which has many fans, turned out to be quite short. After its premiere in 2001, the Peugeot 307 lasted only 7 years, after which it was discontinued.

Initially, the series lineup included exclusively a hatchback. Then it included a sedan, station wagon, convertible and 3-door hatchback. The car felt great only in urban conditions; it had no place in rural areas due to sensitivity to fuel quality and low ground clearance.

The design of the Peugeot 307 was strikingly different from all other “classmates”. The main feature of the model was the expressive “cat’s” eyes – specially shaped headlights characteristic of the brand’s products. The front of the car had an extremely gentle slope, visually lengthening it. Otherwise, the appearance of the model differed little from hatchbacks of that period.

Another feature of the Peugeot 307 is a convenient trunk that can accommodate up to 420 liters of cargo. With the seats folded, its volume increased to 1420 liters. It was equipped with various devices for transporting goods (hooks for bags, a luggage net, etc.). The 2.6-meter wheelbase made it possible to increase space in the cabin without restricting the movement of rear passengers.

French engineers paid increased attention to safety. The Peugeot 307 was equipped with seat belts, specially designed seats that reduce the risk of driver entrapment, and 6 airbags with adjustable “shot” power. In addition, the model’s body was designed in accordance with advanced requirements for passive protection.

In the basic version (XR version), the car was equipped with central locking, 6 airbags, power accessories and air conditioning. Higher-end XS and XSi versions were also available.

There are not so many PCD sizes: about a dozen popular ones, on European and Asian cars, and a few more rare ones, which are found mainly on American cars.

There is very little difference between some of them: 98 and 100, or 112 and 114.3. Visually, it is almost invisible, and when they see a wheel model they like, car owners sometimes think that one option can be replaced with another.

This is an erroneous opinion, and such a decision will result in a poor fit of the disk to the hub or its misalignment. Problems will not keep you waiting.

Let's consider what options for placing mounting holes are found on certain cars:

So, if the diameter of the disk and its offset are parameters that directly indicate the possibility of installing the disk on the car, then the CO and the bolt pattern determine the possibility of attaching such a disk to the hub. In other words, a wheel rim may be suitable in offset, diameter, width, etc., but it may not be possible to attach such a rim to the hub correctly.

As a rule, obvious problems with mounting on the hub arise for one reason - the DIA of a particular disk is less than necessary. If the disk center is larger, then the problem is solved with adapter rings. If the disk fails due to the ET offset not being quite suitable, this parameter is also corrected with spacers for the disk.

Unfortunately, having solved the problem with DIA and ET, that is, having made sure whether the disks are suitable, not all car enthusiasts pay due attention to another important parameter - the drilling or bolt pattern of the disk.

  • Let's figure out what disc drilling is. So, drilling is carried out at the stage of manufacturing the wheel rim and involves drilling holes of a certain diameter. It is not difficult to guess that these holes are needed for the subsequent installation of fasteners (bolts or studs) when attaching the disk to the hub.

Please note that there are a large number of wheel rim drilling options for different cars. Otherwise, the bolt pattern is different on different cars. For example, you can find the designation PCD 4x100, 5x112, 5x100, 5x114.3, etc.

The German auto industry is characterized by one type of bolt pattern, while Japanese, Korean or American manufacturers use a different drill pattern. Moreover, even Japanese and European manufacturers use different drilling patterns. This means that the bolt pattern of an Audi or the bolt pattern of a Nissan may not be the same as, for example, the bolt pattern of a VAZ or the bolt pattern of a Ford, Honda, BMW, etc.

  • However, not all car owners know exactly what type of bolt pattern should be on the car. There are also those who simply ignore this parameter, installing disks with a different drill size, for example, 5x100 instead of 5x114.3. Let us note right away that this is a big mistake for a number of reasons, the main one of which is safety!

It should be understood that drilling the rim holes is a parameter that the wheel manufacturer must calculate with high accuracy. In turn, the car manufacturer also takes into account the features of fixing the wheel to the hub. In this case, even a slight discrepancy between the center of the disk and the hub causes runout.

It is noteworthy that the drill diameter is difficult to determine by eye, and the PCD may differ quite slightly (for example, 5x120 and 5x120.6). Taking into account such features, when choosing rims, you need to know exactly what rim bolt pattern should be on a particular car.
