A gasoline pump is a part of a car that is responsible for supplying fuel from the gasoline tank to the nozzles. For the first time, an electric gasoline pump was invented in the USA in the 70s of the 20th century. In the mid-90s, almost all automakers switched to this system, abandoning the mechanical one. Replacing a gasoline pump on a VAZ-2112 is quite easy and does not require special knowledge or skills.
Video on replacing the fuel pump on front-wheel drive VAZs, including the VAZ-2112:
The video material will tell you how to replace a gasoline pump, and also give some recommendations and tips.
Principle of operation
The operation of the element is practically no different from the principle of operation of a mechanical pump. So, the element operates thanks to a core that is pulled into the solenoid valve. This action occurs until the system turns off the contacts for supplying voltage to the network. The element starts when the ignition is turned on (turning the key to the appropriate position). So, the VAZ-2112 fuel pump with 16 valves is supplied with 12V power. The mechanism creates in a couple of seconds the required pressure necessary to inject fuel into the injectors.
At the outlet, this indicator (pressure) reaches 0.4 MPa. The design of the element itself is modular. In addition to the pump, the unit contains an anti-drip glass, wires and tubes protected by a solid spring.
The pump itself has a diaphragm that moves up and down. As a result, a vacuum is created in the system. This helps open the pump suction valve. As the diaphragm moves upward, the inlet valve closes under pressure. This opens the injection element. It pushes fuel under pressure further to the injectors. The system also provides a return line. It serves to bleed unnecessary fuel back into the tank. Separate lines are provided for the return line.
Fuel pump electric motor
If checking the pressure in the fuel rail and the external wiring to the fuel pump gives positive results, then you should check the fuel pump motor. This electric motor is responsible for circulating gasoline inside the fuel pump.
When checking, you need to take into account that the terminals on the fuel pump themselves tend to oxidize, as a result of which power is not supplied and the pump does not pump. In this case, the motor is working, but the terminals need to be cleaned or re-soldered.
To check the fuel pump motor, you will need to attach the test lamp wires to a cleaned and serviceable terminal of the electric motor, after which you should turn on the ignition. If the light comes on, this will indicate that the fuel pump motor is not working.

Where is?
On the first “ten” models, this pump was mechanical and located in the engine compartment. But the “two-piece” appeared a little later, in ’98, and was already equipped with a fully fuel-injected engine with distributed injection. Therefore, the design uses a submersible electric fuel pump. On the VAZ-2112 the injector (16 and 8 valves) is located in the tank. To be more precise, the element is located under the back row pillow, on the right side. For its convenient maintenance, a special hatch is provided.
Important points
The procedure outlined above seems quite simple, but, nevertheless, there are a couple of nuances that should be mentioned.
Firstly, gasoline. When the gas lines are unscrewed, it begins to flow directly onto the cap (this happens especially often if the car owner forgot to relieve the pressure in the gas line using the breather, as mentioned above). Yes, a little gasoline leaks out, but the smell of gasoline in the cabin is not what a car owner needs, right? Therefore, before removing the fuel lines, you should put a cloth on the pump cover and carefully insert it with a screwdriver into all the cracks. The rag will absorb the leaked gasoline, then you can throw it away, which will help get rid of the smell in the cabin.
Secondly, the fuel pump retaining plate. As practice shows, this is a fragile thing, and breaking it by carelessly prying it with a screwdriver is not just easy, but very easy. But it’s difficult to find this part on sale; it is only sold complete with a complete fuel pump, and this is a waste of money. The matter is further complicated by the fact that it is not always possible to move this plate out of place with just a flat screwdriver (especially if the car owner is trying to disassemble the pump for the first time), so sometimes you have to resort to using a hammer and chisel, and this, in turn, increases the risk many times over plate breakage.
As you can see, there are no difficulties with independently replacing the pump grid on the Lada Kalina, and if you strictly follow the above instructions, even those who are doing it for the first time will not have any problems. The main thing is to be patient and follow safety precautions. It is imperative to remove the terminal from the battery! Otherwise, a banal mesh replacement can turn into a fire.
Replacing the fuel pump mesh on Grant
I think there is no need to explain once again that the design of the fuel pump on Kalina and Grant cars is not at all different. That is why the entire process of replacing the components of the fuel pump on the above cars will be the same. Also, it is worth noting that when compared with the models of the 10th VAZ family, there are some points that differ.
Symptoms of a problem
It is worth noting that the fuel pump installed on the VAZ-2112 injector has a long service life. But regular driving on an empty tank and untimely replacement of filters can worsen its performance. Therefore, you need to know the main signs of its malfunction.
The first characteristic symptom is difficulty starting the engine. Moreover, this can happen both “hot” and “cold”. This indicates that the pump is having difficulty generating enough pressure before starting. Ideally, only 2-3 seconds are allotted for this. If the pump continues to hum, then there are problems with the valves or diaphragm.
In more advanced situations, the car may simply stall. If your tank is far from empty and the car suddenly stalls, it means that the supply of gasoline to the engine has stopped. In this case, you need to replace the fuel pump relay with a VAZ-2112 or the submersible element itself.
And finally, the engine will be unstable at idle speed. There is a feeling as if the engine is stalling. If the element has completely burned out, then when the ignition is turned on there will be no pump noise at all (even short-term).
If everything has been checked, but the fuel pump does not work - article numbers
In general, the pump article number for VAZ-2112 engines looks like this: 21102-1139009-XX. Instead of the letters XX there are numbers, for example 02 or 03. They indicate the manufacturer.
Modules from different factories are not interchangeable!
The resistance of the FLS resistor is different in them. However, when replacing the FLS sensor, you can borrow it from the “old” module. That's what they usually do.
Until April 2002, article numbers of the type 2112-1139009 were used. Almost every module available for purchase contains a built-in pressure regulator. There are also exceptions - KSZC-A243, for example. The meaning is as follows:
- All internal combustion engines with a volume of 1.5 liters are equipped with a ramp with an “external” regulator (2112-1160010);
- The 21124 or 21114 motor requires a built-in regulator.
In conjunction with 1.5 liter engines, you can use any module – both with and without a built-in regulator.

Replacement
So, our pump burned out, we bought a new one and want to install it. First we need to reduce the pressure in the system (so as not to flood the entire interior with gasoline from the pipes). To do this, you need to find the appropriate fuse (the diagram is shown on the back of the cover), start the motor and remove the element while it is running. The car will run for a couple more seconds and then die. This is a sign that the gas in the system has run out, and we can proceed with further actions. So, open the back door and remove the sofa. To do this, press the latches under the carpet on both sides. Then we will see a small hatch.
How to further replace the fuel pump on a VAZ-2112? The next step is to disconnect the fuel pipes. Depending on the type of engine (8- or 16-valve), they can be mounted on chips or tightened with bolts. We also disconnect the chip with the wires.
Safety precautions
Before unscrewing the nuts, you need to disconnect the two hoses. But first try starting the engine. The power supply to the fuel pump is not connected. Please note - the power is turned off here!
Everything is ready for dismantling if:
- External connector is disabled;
- It is impossible to start the engine, although the on-board network is not de-energized;
- It is better if the tank is filled less than 50%.
You need to unscrew two fittings from the module cover (top photo). Then use a socket wrench to unscrew the nuts from the studs and remove the retaining ring. There is very little left to the internal connector. Having gained access to the internal connector, you need to clean its contacts.
Installation
So, carefully remove the structure from the tank. To dismantle the old element, you will need to remove the anti-drip glass. The pump itself lies tightly in the grooves with latches. To remove it, you do not need to use keys or other equipment. It's easy enough to pull it with your hand and remove it from its seat. Also replace the mesh (coarse filter). Then install the new element into the same grooves and do not forget to put on the plastic cup. Carefully place everything in the tank and tighten it with bolts, sealing everything with a rubber band. This completes the entire replacement.
Video example: taking power from the main relay connector
None Prehistory In general, this thing began to happen periodically with the car: you were driving on business, arrived, turned off the engine, came back, turned the key... Silence.
No sound Zhzhzhzhzhzhzhzh
whose.
My first thought, and in the thread on the drive in the community is the relay and the pump fuse, Well, I changed it, but still the same symptom. Doesn't buzz. Although the engine turns.
The second is that the fuel pump itself is broken. Why would he break down in principle? No, of course it may have some kind of wear or something, all filters have been changed in principle, gasoline always comes from the same pump.
Third
This is an alarm, the alarms have a function “
Valer
” or “
Valet
” I don’t remember the exact name, which blocks the fuel pump, it’s like it’s anti-theft.
There were options with a crankshaft sensor ( DPKV
), they suggested checking this option on the drive, but many said that it has nothing to do with the pump.
Well, I started looking for the reason, followed the wires, and came here,
to the chip that plugs into the fuel pump,
None
Hero of the occasionVisually everything was in order, all the wires were intact, everything that needed to spin, everything that didn’t need to be held on
I started digging further and removed this chip.
And I saw that one of the 4 contacts was brown, although visually the “mother” chip was working.
I started to pull out the wire with my mother from the chip, this is what I understood to be Massa, and that’s what was there.
It’s not clear why the connection just happened and broke, it’s not clear how.
How it should be, and what it was. Well, I took the whole thing, screwed it together and soldered it for reliability. I plugged everything in as it should have been, and voila.
Thanks to everyone, smooth roads, high-quality and cheap gasoline, a full tank.

Diagram of the fuel system of the 16-valve injection VAZ-2112
The fuel system is one of the most important components in any car. After all, without it it is simply impossible to imagine the full operation of the vehicle. And so that you can imagine what the fuel system on your VAZ-2112 consists of, below we will present you with its detailed diagram, with a detailed description of each of the main elements.
Product selection
AvtoVAZ offers an original fuel pump for 4,000 rubles. The original catalog number is 2112-1139009. But many car enthusiasts buy and install cheaper analogues instead of the original.
Analogs
Bosch fuel pump.
A non-original part is often no different in quality from the original. So, if the vehicle owner wants to save money, then you can install a non-original part. Let's consider the main offers of analogue companies:
- Fenox EFM33006O7 - the cost of such a part will be about 3,000 rubles.
- Bosch 0 560 454 035 - as they say, I took BOSCH, and ... (go ahead).
- Ween 192-0262 – the price on the spare parts market will be approximately 3,000 rubles.
- Pekar 2112-1139009 - will cost a little more than the previous two, the average price is 3,500 rubles.
- ATS 53453 - praised, but the price tag is good. We know they put one like this as a replacement for expensive originals on Peugeot.

Checking the electrical circuit
Unlike a carburetor engine, where the fuel pump is mechanically driven, on the injection VAZ 2110/2112 a special relay and fuse are responsible for the operation of this device. Therefore, before moving on to diagnosing the pump itself, it is necessary to check the indicated elements. If any one of them is faulty, the pump will not work at all.
Turn on the ignition without starting the engine and listen. When the fuel pump is running, it emits a characteristic “whistle” when started. If it is not there, it means that either the pump itself has failed, or one of the elements of its power supply circuit has failed.
The pump relay and fuse are located in an additional mounting block located inside the vehicle's center console. It can be accessed by removing the plastic trim (near the front passenger's left foot). It is secured with several screws. Under the cover you will find three relays and three fuses. Typically, the fuel pump circuit protection elements are located centrally.
The relay and fuse are located in an additional mounting block under the cladding
To check the fuse, remove it from its socket and “ring” it with a tester. If necessary, replace it, observing the rating (15 A). It is unlikely that it will be possible to check the relay for functionality without special equipment. But you can take another relay, for example, the radiator fan (far left), and install it in place of the one being diagnosed. Turn on the ignition and listen to see if the fuel pump starts working. If yes, buy and install a new relay. If the problem persists, continue diagnostics.
To check the fuel pump relay, you can install the radiator cooling fan relay in its place.
Price
The price for a new VAZ-2112 fuel pump ranges from 1,200 to 2,000 rubles. What is noteworthy is that the Boshevsky element turned out to be the cheapest. Of course, no one in Germany will make pumps for the “twelve”.
This is a cheap Chinese knockoff. Therefore, it is better to buy a Saratov pump. It will last much longer than its counterpart. We also note that most of the elements are sold already in a module (complete with all tubes, filters, glasses, etc.). This significantly speeds up the replacement process.
