  • Next, move on to the lower structural element - the latch. Unscrew the nuts securing the clamp together with the plates. Manipulate the correct position of the latch and, if necessary, check the closure several times.

If there are mechanical failures in the lock, it should be completely replaced. The cylinder inside the device is also beyond repair, so it is better to have a new mechanism on hand.

An understanding of why the trunk lid on a VAZ 2114 does not close will appear only after removing the trim and checking the condition of the structure. To do this, you just need to move the end of the spring into the corresponding hole on the bracket, which is fixed to the body. However, there are disadvantages here too. For example, the luggage lid fastening loops have a fairly large radius of movement, and therefore can touch things in the compartment.   • knob;
  • set of socket heads;
  • slotted screwdriver;
  • set of open-end wrenches.

Before starting work, you should disconnect the ground terminal (negative) from the battery in order to eliminate the possibility of a short circuit.

The replacement of the VAZ 2114 trunk lid itself is carried out in the following order:

  1. Open the tailgate and secure it with a suitable size prop.
  2. Using a flat-head screwdriver, pry the mounting location of the upper hinge of the gas-filled stop, press it inside the trunk and disconnect it.

  5. Unscrew the fasteners and remove the brackets used to secure the stops.

  6. Check the condition and straightness of the stops themselves - if they are bent or deformed, then you should purchase new ones and install them during reassembly.
  7. Using a slotted screwdriver or a special puller, pry and remove the 10 pins securing the tailgate trim.

  12. Unscrew the fastening elements of the lock and remove the lock.
  13. Using a puller or a flat-head screwdriver, pry and remove several pistons securing the rear edge of the interior headliner.
  14. Bend the detached edge of the casing so that it does not interfere with further dismantling of the cover.
  15. In the opened technological cavity, find the nut securing the terminal and unscrew it (it is best to use a socket wrench or a socket with an extension).
  16. Remove the terminal.

  17. On each side of the upper rear part of the cabin, find and unscrew a pair of fastening nuts holding the trunk hinges.

When disconnecting the wiring harness connectors that go to the trunk, be sure to mark them with colored markers or electrical tape to avoid possible problems when connecting them.

After the trunk door is removed, you should carefully inspect the condition of its hinges - if they or their fastening elements are skewed or have cracks, then they should be replaced.

It is produced as follows:

  1. Remove the gaskets from both hinges.

Reassembly and installation of the tailgate is carried out in exactly the same order as disassembly, but in reverse order.

Withdrawal procedure

Depending on the reason, a complete or partial replacement is performed. It is not recommended for the average person to engage in reassembly, since there are too many nuances in this process, but almost anyone can replace the mechanism. Step-by-step instruction:

  1. Three screws are unscrewed. They are located on the inside of the handle. To do this, use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the cover.
  2. The front trigger glass position switch is removed along with the wiring harness block. To do this, the wires are first disconnected.
  3. The plug on the armrest handle is removed, the element is picked up with a thin corner of a screwdriver.
  4. Unscrew the 2 screws on the handle that hold the inner panel.
  5. The plastic clips are pressed out to remove the lining.
  6. 6 pistons are removed to remove the door card.
  7. The external fastenings are removed, the nuts are unscrewed with an 8mm wrench.

The car door trim, officially called the door panel, is most often removed to access the window lift mechanism for repair or lubrication. Much less often, this operation is carried out to install speakers, install noise and vibration insulation, replace facing panels or perform body work. But in any case, sooner or later, almost every car owner has to dismantle the door trim. At the same time, many of them, without resorting to the services of a service station, do it themselves, since this operation is quite simple and can be done by most car enthusiasts.

Occurrence of a problem

The new-fashioned body design of many VAZ models was the beginning of problems. In many cars, owners notice unpleasant noises and pops from the rear of the body. These loud noises occur when the car goes over bumps and the trunk door begins to knock. Most likely, this defect resulted from the fact that the car was tested in conditions suitable for travel - on a flat road surface. Under ideal conditions, it is difficult to notice that the locking plate or stem is not in the correct position. This solution should be considered temporary, since the production technology is the same and the problems will remain. Over time, a new lock will have to be replaced. The only positive side of this solution is that it is quite cheap.

The second option involves completely replacing the mechanical lock with an electrically controlled drive. What does this give?

  1. Secure trunk closure.
  2. Possibility to control the position of the rear door from the driver's seat.

Installing such a system is not the cheapest pleasure, but the final result will really please the user. The electronic drive is much more convenient to use and is a reliable replacement for its mechanical counterpart.

Dismantling the old castle

Before replacing, you will have to dismantle the old closing mechanism, and this is not so easy.

The following tools will be useful in your work:

  • key to 8.

The replacement sequence is as follows:

  1. First of all, in order not to damage the interior lining of the trunk, we remove ten plastic fasteners, and then the plastic casing from the lock.
  2. We remove the casing, then unscrew the nut that secures the lock in place.
  3. Unscrew the wires that are in the way.
  4. Next, you need to unscrew the right fastening nut and remove the inner part of the lock from the fastenings.
  5. You can inspect the integrity of the spring and core. If these parts are defective, then the problem is in the mechanism. In any case, everything will have to be changed.

If you prefer the economical option of replacing it with a new mechanical lock, then install it in the reverse order as described.

Preparatory stage

Procedure for independently replacing the driver's door lock on a Lada Granta Liftback

  1. We install the car within the perimeter of the repair area and provide unobstructed access around the perimeter.
  2. We take priority safety measures when carrying out work. We fix the rear row of wheels with wheel chocks and engage first gear to avoid arbitrary movement.
  3. Open the driver's door, use an impact screwdriver to unscrew the two screws securing the shackle to the car body, and remove it from its seat. We install a new shackle with soundproofing material.
  4. Let's start removing the constipation: unscrew the plastic float and remove the stem.
  5. We unscrew the car door card, two screws, eight plastic clips around the perimeter.

  10. Let's start installing the new lock.
  11. We assemble the structure in the reverse order, unless there are other breakdowns that require surgical intervention or elimination.

During the installation process, we pay attention to the integrity of the electrical wiring, insulating layer, terminals, and blocks with wires. If there are signs of wear, replace them with new ones.

Typical door lock malfunctions

  • tightness of locking the door;
  • increased noise when opening/closing;
  • the central lock does not lock the door and does not respond to signals;
  • unlocking is accompanied by a creaking, metallic grinding sound;

Drive installation

Adjusting the position of the trunk lid is possible if, instead of a mechanical lock, you install an electronic device, in this case a drive. To install it you will need:

  • universal drive installation kit for the machine;
  • metal cable with a cross-section of 1.5 mm and 500 mm long;
  • two contact connection wires of 4.5 m each;
  • screws with wide heads;
  • opening button for the lock;
  • retainer;
  • fuse;

We install the drive in the prepared place, according to the instructions. Next, you will have to make several amendments to the design:

  1. We arm ourselves with a 7 key and clamp the bushing on the lock body. Use a screwdriver to clamp the bushing and unscrew the locking screw from the traction mechanism. You need to change the washer to another larger one.
  2. We make a hook from wire, which we connect to the locking screw directly under the new washer. Then we extend the same wire to the electric drive rack.
  3. We attach the electric drive relay to the trunk amplifier with self-tapping screws.
  4. The plate from the kit is connected to the activation device with the lock bolts so that there is a gap of 1.5 cm from the lock tongue to the plate.
  5. The activator is installed.
  6. A rod is made from a piece of cable, which is connected to the lock lever, the electric drive rack, the lock tongue and the release mechanism.
  7. Wires are being laid. The positive contact extends to the control button.
  8. We connect the device to the battery and install a fuse in its system.

The VAZ trunk is opened by pressing a button that can be installed in the cabin.
