Where is the filler plug in the Daewoo Nexia manual transmission?

Transmission "Daewoo"

The following transmissions were installed in Daewoo Nexia:

  • five-speed manual;
  • four-speed automatic.

The production of Nexia, equipped with a manual transmission, began in Uzbekistan. What kind of oil is used in this car? SAE 80W90, SAE 75W90 lubricant is used. Only hatchbacks that were produced in 1994-1997 are equipped with automation. Only Dextron 2 is filled into automatic transmissions.

It is worth noting that, in accordance with the recommendations of the Korean manufacturer, there is no need to change the Nexia gearbox oil. Its resource should be sufficient for the entire period of operation. This is approximately two hundred thousand kilometers. It is sometimes necessary to check its quantity and, if necessary, top up.

Changing the oil in the Nexia gearbox is intended only for regions where the temperature is very low (less than thirty degrees). This is due to the fact that in low temperature conditions mineral motor oil thickens. When making a car, mineral water is poured into it to save money. In view of this, it is recommended to change the mineral oil in the Nexia gearbox to synthetic/semi-synthetic before the car has driven one hundred thousand kilometers.

You need to know how to check how many liters of gear oil are in the unit. It is recommended to check it every 8-16 thousand kilometers. The oil in the gearbox must be poured with the same oil that is already filled.

Necessary clarifications

Depending on the country of production, Nexias were equipped with 2 types of gearboxes.

  1. 5-speed manual.
  2. 4-speed automatic.

Sedans produced in the Republic of Uzbekistan were equipped with manual transmissions. Daewoo Nexia manual transmissions must be filled with transmission lubricants that meet the following standards.

  1. API GL4 SAE 80W90.
  2. API GL4 SAE 75W90.

It should be noted that, according to the manufacturer’s idea, the lubricant resource poured into the Daewoo Nexia gearbox on the conveyor should be sufficient for the entire life of the vehicle. This corresponds to a mileage of 250,000 km, after which the oil needs to be changed. According to the instructions, every 15,000 km it is necessary to check the transmission level and top it up if necessary.

At the same time, according to the recommendations of the manufacturer, changing the oil in the Nexia gearbox is mandatory if the car has been operated for a long time at temperatures below -30 degrees Celsius. Therefore, in the northern regions of our country, changing the gearbox oil is usually carried out immediately after purchasing a car.

3- and 5-door hatchbacks produced in the Republic of Korea between 1994 and 1997 were equipped with automatic transmissions. Such units can only be filled with Dextron II gear oil. The Nexia automatic transmission has a reusable oil filter. When replacing the lubricant, it can be cleaned and put back.

Checkpoint on the Daewoo Nexia - what will we use?

When purchasing oil, pay attention to the release date.

Despite the fact that the manufacturer declares the indefinite use of gear oil in the Daewoo Nexia gearbox, it needs to be changed.

Experts advise not to exceed the mileage before an oil change of 100-120 thousand km . Otherwise, there will be expensive repairs - synchronizers, seals, shafts will not last long on old oil.

Oil Standards

In the event of a forced oil change, the plant itself recommends using fluids of the SAE 80W , class not lower than GL-4 . In cases where the vehicle is operated in low temperature conditions, the recommended viscosity should correspond to the standard 75W-90 GL-4 .

The plant does not give clear recommendations regarding the composition of the oil, although initially it pours mainly mineral oils into the gearbox. The only advantage of mineral oils for gearboxes is the price.

Types and manufacturers

Otherwise, synthetic and semi-synthetic fluids work much better. This affects both the lubricating and washing properties of the oil and its durability. According to experts, the brand does not play a special role, although each driver has his own preferences. Castrol Syntrans 75w90 is perfect for Nexia .

Hochleistungs-Getriebeoil GL4+(GL-4/GL-5) 75W-90.

In addition to this oil, you can choose more inexpensive analogues that are no worse than the same:

  • Castrol DriveLine 75W-90 Syntrax Universal;
  • Castrol TAF-X 75W90;
  • Castrol SMX-S;
  • Hochleistungs-Getriebeoil GL4+(GL-4/GL-5) 75W-90;
  • Hessol Hypoid Getriebeol SAE 80 W 90 GL-5.

Useful tips

It is almost impossible to check what exactly is poured into the gearbox at the factory, but most often this oil turns out to be mineral oil, which thickens quite strongly in winter. When planning a replacement, it is recommended to purchase synthetic or semi-synthetic gearbox oil.

From time to time, at least once every 15 thousand km. mileage, you should check the lubricant level in the gearbox. The design of the Daewoo Nexia gearbox does not provide for lubricant replacement throughout its entire service life. However, sometimes the need for replacement still arises - in the case of a gearbox repair, when switching to a lubricant with a different viscosity, and in other similar situations. When planning a replacement, it is advisable to drain the old lubricant in a warm and fluid state, that is, within 10-15 minutes from the end of the trip.

Replacement frequency

The manufacturer claims that oil is poured into the Daewoo Nexia gearbox for the entire period of operation of the car, but does not specify exactly how long this service life should be and how to check whether it has expired or not. Therefore, in order to avoid serious financial costs for gearbox repairs, it is recommended to change the gearbox oil every 100 thousand km. mileage If you have difficulty shifting gears in cold weather, you can change the oil in the box even before the mileage reaches 100 thousand.

How to change the gearbox oil on a Daewoo Lanos or Daewoo Nexia?

You will find the answer to this question if you click the more details button.
Since the design of the gearbox
on the
Daewoo Lanos and Daewoo Nexia
does not provide for an oil change, but it needs to be replaced, when purchasing transmission oil (2 liters), you also need to buy a gasket for the bottom cover of the box (gearbox housing).
If for some reason there is no gasket, then you will have to get silicone sealant. The catalog number of the gearbox housing gasket for Daewoo Lanos, Daewoo Nexia, Chevrolet Lanos is 96179241.
Separately, a few words on the choice of gearbox oil for Daewoo Lanos and Daewoo Nexia cars.

.
The manufacturer recommends using transmission oil SAE 80W GL-4
; when operating a vehicle in climatic conditions where the ambient temperature remains below -30 for a long time, it is recommended to fill in
75W-90 GL-4
. That is, you can fill in both mineral water 80W90 GL-4 and synthetics or semi-synthetics 75W-90, 75W80, 80W85 GL-4. For example, I fill the gearbox of my Nexia with 80W GL-4 mineral water. I also tried synthetic 75W-90. Excellent oil, especially in winter, but in summer there is a small minus - noise in the box. Not strong, but there. That's why I switched to the oil recommended by the factory.

Now, step by step - Changing the gearbox oil on a Daewoo Lanos and Daewoo Nexia:

1. Unscrew the bottom cover of the gearbox

and carefully drain the oil from the box (photo 1) (if there is no new gasket available, then the covers must be removed as carefully as possible to avoid damaging the old gasket).

2. When the oil has completely drained, wipe the bottom of the box and the bottom cover with a dry cloth, removing traces of old oil and dirt.

3. After the bottom cover is installed (we use sealant when installing the old gasket), find the oil level control plug next to the internal drive (photo 2) and unscrew it. From the top of the box we look for the oil filler plug, carefully remove the plastic cap from it and unscrew it (photo 3).

4. Next, using an oil blower or syringe, pump transmission oil into the filling hole (photo 4) until oil begins to flow out of the control hole. We first tighten the control hole plug, and then the fill hole plug. Don’t forget, before doing this, clean the plug from dirt and put a protective cap on it (photo 5). It is not recommended to install and use the plug without a protective cap, since it simultaneously serves as a breather.

According to the manufacturer, an oil change in the Daewoo Nexia gearbox is not required during the entire period of operation of the car. However, he does not clarify how long this period is and how to check whether the lubricant has been used up or not. But the lack of lubrication in the gearbox can cause serious problems, as a result of which a complete repair of the gearbox will have to be carried out. And, as you know, it is expensive. To avoid this situation, it is recommended to change the lubricant in the Daewoo Nexia every 100 thousand kilometers. It is worth checking the oil level periodically.

We recommend: Spacers to increase ground clearance: what are they for?

It is almost impossible to determine what kind of oil the manufacturer poured into a car’s gearbox at the factory. But most often this “consumable” turns out to be mineral. And it thickens quite strongly at subzero temperatures. So if you are planning a replacement, it is better to buy semi-synthetic or synthetic lubricant.

Periodically, approximately every 15 thousand kilometers, it is necessary to check the level of consumables. As already mentioned, on the Daewoo Nexia the gearbox oil change is not provided for the entire time the car is used. But there are situations when there is a need for replacement. For example, when repairing a gearbox or when transferring a car to a new “consumables”. If a replacement is planned, then the old fluid should be drained while it is hot. This way it will be more fluid.

  • Wheel chock
  • Rags

Check and, if necessary, replenish the oil level in the gearbox every 10 thousand kilometers or 6 months. operation.

Check the oil level in the gearbox no earlier than two minutes after stopping the engine. Carry out the work on an inspection ditch or overpass.

Checking the gearbox oil level

1. Using a 13 mm spanner, unscrew the inspection hole plug located next to the inner joint of the right wheel drive in the gearbox housing and remove it.

2. Insert your finger into the hole and check the oil level.

The normal oil level is at the bottom edge of the hole.

3. If there is insufficient oil, remove the breather cap.

4. Unscrew the breather with a 17 mm wrench and remove it from the hole in the gearbox housing.

5. Clean the metal trap of the transmission inspection plug.

6. Use a syringe to add oil to the Nexia gearbox to the bottom edge of the inspection hole (see point 2). As soon as the oil starts to come out through the inspection hole

7. Tighten the breather and inspection hole plug.

Changing the oil in the Nexia gearbox

The Daewoo Nexia N150 gearbox is filled with oil for its entire service life. Only the instructions are silent about the length of the period, so presumably it is 100-150 thousand km, or 7-10 years of operation. In any case, even on a new car, it is recommended to replace the mineral water poured into the box with synthetic water.

Even during the operation of the car, it may be necessary to drain the oil and replace it, for example, when repairing a gearbox or when there is a significant oil leak from the gearbox, when it is not possible to add oil of the same brand that was poured into the gearbox. It is recommended to change the oil when the gearbox is warm.

1. Clean the bottom cover of the gearbox from dirt. Place a wide container with a capacity of at least 3.5 liters under the lid.

2. Using a 13 mm socket, unscrew the ten bolts securing the cover partly and drain the oil into a substitute container.

3. After draining the oil, completely unscrew the bolts and remove the cover. Clean it from deposits, wear products of gearbox parts and traces of the old gasket, and also clean the mating surface of the gearbox housing.

4. Then put the gear in neutral, chock the rear wheels, apply the parking brake and jack up the front left wheel to drain any remaining oil from the 5th gear housing.

History of Nexia

This Korean middle-class car was presented to the public in 1986. The development was carried out by German specialists (). The car was created on the basis of the Opel Kadett E, which was widespread at that time. "Nexia" began to be produced for residents of developing countries. Since 1995, cars have become available to citizens of the former Soviet Union. By the way, this car is known to Korean residents under the name “Daewoo Cielo”.

Ergonomics of Daewoo Nexia

The car stood out, first of all, for its low price. It cost no more than Russian front-wheel drive VAZs. The car was quite reliable, unpretentious in use, was ahead of Russian cars in terms of these characteristics and was not inferior to imported middle-class models. Replacing broken parts was easy due to their availability. All this explains the ubiquity of this machine.

However, Nexia gradually began to lose ground. The last car of this model was released four years ago. After this, the Korean manufacturer began producing the Daewoo Gentra.

Changing the gearbox lubricant

Draining old lubricant from a car gearbox

List of required tools:

  • socket wrench 17;
  • socket wrench 13;
  • a special funnel-oiler or large syringe;
  • basin;
  • old toothbrush.

Before carrying out the procedure, you must drive 10 km, drive the car into a pit and set the handbrake. Changing the oil in the gearbox is carried out as follows.

  1. We unscrew the plug of the control hole and place a basin under it. The inspection hole is located on the side of the gearbox housing.
  2. Remove the dirt cap from the filler plug. This hole is located on the intermediate gearbox housing.
  3. Loosen and unscrew the filler plug. At the same time, we clean it from dirt.
  4. We climb under the car, place a basin under the gearbox housing and partially unscrew 10 or 11 (depending on the type of gearbox) bolts securing the oil pan.
  5. After the transmission has finished draining, remove the pan and clean it and the gears from visible dirt with a toothbrush.
  6. We install the pan back and at the same time change its gasket. Tighten all the bolts.
  7. After this, we move into the engine compartment and, using a funnel or syringe, fill in new oil until it flows out of the control hole.
  8. We clean the control hole plug from dirt and screw it in until it stops.
  9. Screw the filler plug into place and put the dirt cap on it.

All. The automatic transmission oil is changed in the same way. The only difference is that, in addition to the procedures described above, after removing the pan, the oil filter is removed, cleaned of dirt with a toothbrush and acetone and installed back.

Changed the gearbox oil. — logbook Daewoo Nexia Engine 1.6 color: GAN 2012 on DRIVE2

There is no point in saying much, there are many reports on how to change the oil, for example www.nexia-faq.ru/obslugiv…nie/zamena-maslo-kpp.html The color of the leaked oil is exactly the same color as in that report, reddish. But I filled in a completely different color, white, or rather very transparent, more transparent than motor, semi-synthetic. I realized that MOTUL oil code 100093 75W90 is semi-synthetic and costs the same as synthetic liquid moth or the same Castrol, as you can see, I didn’t take it out of economy, but for other reasons. Therefore, I shouldn’t write, I should have used synthetics. Now for the nuances that no one writes about, namely, what could be the problem and what needs to be taken.

For convenience, I took a hose, it was convenient for me to pour in through the breather through the hose, not a drop was missed. To remove the pan you need a 13mm wrench. The pan was so stuck to the gasket that after unscrewing all the bolts except one it wouldn’t come off, I had to pry it off with a screwdriver, only then the oil would flow properly. I was surprised that some people reuse the old gasket, but I will say that this is not realistic for me! It got stuck and part of it remained on the box, part on the lid, and I’ll say it’s a big deal to clean it off. You need a knife and a degreaser or solvent. I spent 300 grams of degreaser scrubbing and stripping it for at least 30 minutes. New 11 hole gasket from OPEL 96829393.

In the heat this is not a pleasant thing. In the report on the link they write that they jacked up and drained 1.700 grams, I did not jack up anything and drained the same amount. I was glad that the Uzbeks poured it as expected. Having unscrewed the control plug, the oil flowed out on its own, everything was fine here. In general, I filled in 1 liter 700 ml.

What I expect: In cold weather, the gears will switch to cold better and on netralka the ato will not move on its own)

Instructions

Changing the oil in the gearbox is carried out on an overpass or pit. The replacement procedure includes the following steps.

Steps 1-3

4-7 steps

Step 8

Steps 9-11

  1. If there is engine protection, remove it.
  2. Using a 10 mm socket, loosen the transmission pan bolts.
  3. We tighten the bolts in the front part of the pan and place a wide container under the drained oil.
  4. After draining all the lubricant, completely remove the pan. In this case, even if the gasket does not break, it is recommended to replace it.
  5. Usually only 1.5 liters of oil is drained, and 200-300 g continues to remain in the crankcase. To completely drain, you can raise the front left wheel to the maximum height possible with a standard jack.
  6. Using a 13 mm socket, unscrew the oil level plug on the right side of the gearbox under the inner CV joint. Then we thoroughly rinse the plug itself from the inside, as well as the loose magnet located in its cavity.
  7. After waiting until oil stops dripping from the gearbox, we install the pan in place, thoroughly cleaning its seat from old grease and gasket residues. The pan is installed with a new gasket or sealant, without tightening the control plug.
  8. Next, you can fill in new gearbox oil. To do this, twist the breather in the upper part of the gearbox, next to the selector mechanism. Remove the plastic cap from the breather and unscrew it using a 19 mm wrench.
  9. For convenience, insert a funnel into the breather hole and slowly add oil until it begins to flow from the plug hole, then tighten the control plug. As a result, about one and a half liters of lubricant is poured.
  10. If the front left wheel was lifted to completely drain the fluid, then after closing the plug, add oil to the nominal volume. Otherwise, there is no need to perform additional filling.
  11. All that remains is to screw the breather back to its original location.

At this point, replacing the fluid in the Daewoo Nexia gearbox can be considered complete. There is nothing complicated about this, all that remains is to check and make sure that the gears change easily enough, regardless of the time of year.

Tools

In order to replace the fluid in the gearbox of a Daewoo Nexia, you will need the following tools and accessories:

In order to choose the right gasket, it is first recommended to inspect the transmission pan from below. This is due to the fact that there are two types of pallets, having 10 or 11 holes - the number of holes must be checked before purchasing a gasket. In addition, you don’t have to buy a gasket, but remove the pan and cut it out yourself from paronite, or simply replace it with a sealant, which in practice copes well with the task.

What oil should I use?

Both semi-synthetic and synthetic materials are perfect for Daewoo Nexia. The manufacturer recommends SAE 80W GL-4 oil. If the vehicle is operated for a long time at subzero temperatures, then 75W90 GL-4 should be poured into the gearbox.

It is allowed to use both mineral fluid 80W90 GL-4 and semi-synthetics or synthetics 75W90. But the most suitable option is still 80W GL-4 lubricant. For the winter period, 75W80 lubricant is most suitable. Using the same fluid in the summer can provoke the appearance of extraneous sounds in the gearbox.

How to change the lubricant yourself?

You can replace the working fluid with the help of specialists at a service station or yourself. Let's look at the process of changing it yourself.

Preparation

Before completing a task, you need to prepare. Buy two liters of lubricant and prepare the tools:

  • a set of wrenches or socket heads (you will need tools for 13, 17 and 19);
  • jack;
  • medical or construction syringe;
  • new transmission pan gasket;
  • an old bucket, basin or cut-off bottle for collecting waste.

Before purchasing a gasket, be sure to inspect the pan on the transmission. On sale you can find two types of pallet gaskets, which are mounted with 10 or 11 bolts. Therefore, when buying a seal, make sure that it suits you. If it is not possible to purchase a gasket, you can make it yourself from paronite. As a last resort, if there is no seal, the perimeter of the pan must be coated with sealant.

Detailed instructions for changing the oil are given in the video (the material was filmed and published by the Expert R channel).

Stages of work

The replacement procedure must be performed in a garage with a pit or on an overpass:

  1. Get under the bottom of the car. If there is protection on the engine, it must be removed. To do this, unscrew the bolts that secure it.
  2. Using a wrench or a 10mm socket, unscrew the transmission pan screws. First remove the bolts at the front. Having done this, place a container under it. It is advisable to use a basin, as oil will begin to drain from the pan.
  3. After draining the waste fluid, completely remove the pan. The gasket may tear; be sure to remove any remaining gasket from the area in contact with the transmission. In practice, 1.5 liters of fluid comes out of the pan, and the remaining volume remains in the crankcase. To completely get rid of used grease, lift the left front wheel with a jack. Raise it as high as possible.
  4. Using a 13mm wrench or socket, unscrew the inspection hole bolt. It is located on the right side of the transmission when looking at the car from the front, next to the CV joint. After dismantling, the bolt should be washed from the inside. Thoroughly clean the loose magnet located in the plug.
  5. When fluid stops dripping from the gearbox, the pan must be replaced. Before installation, clean the seat from any remaining lubricant and sealant. First, a new gasket is installed on the pan; if it is missing, use sealant. There is no need to screw the control plug back in.
  6. The main stage is pouring new fluid into the box. To fill the transmission with oil, twist the breather located at the top of the transmission. Remove the plastic cap from this element and unscrew it with a head or a 19mm wrench. Place a funnel or watering can in the hole. And slowly pour liquid into it. Fill the oil into a syringe first, it will be more convenient. Lubricant is poured into the transmission until it begins to flow out of the control hole of the unit. Then the bolt can be tightened.
  7. Reinstall the breather and tighten the inspection hole plug. Perform all assembly steps in reverse order. Start the engine and drive a few kilometers. Speeds should change without difficulty. After replacement, the box may be noisy for some time, but this will go away over time.

Price issue

When performing work yourself, there is no need to spend money on service stations. You just need to buy lubricant. The cost of gear oil depends on the manufacturer. For example, one liter of universal “Mannol 80W-90” costs the buyer 212 rubles on average. Castrol 80W-90 lubricant costs about 350 rubles per liter canister. The cost of original Toyota oil of the same volume is about 730 rubles.
