  • If the drain is finished, screw the drain plug back into place and wipe the area with a rag. This is necessary in order to see possible leaks after adding fresh oil.
  • Now you need an empty plastic bottle; it will serve as a kind of watering can. The bottom is carefully cut off with a knife and it is ready for use.
  • Now you need to place the bottle neck into the hole for the dipstick, you can fill it. We already know how much to fill, but you shouldn’t pour all the lubricant at once.
  • Fill in about 3 liters and carefully inspect the floor under the car. If no drops are found on the floor, add to the required level.

It is necessary to fill the oil slightly above the level. This is due to the fact that the fifth gear of VAZ 2113, 2114 and 2115 cars is located above all other gears and often experiences “oil starvation”. I would also like to remind you that “synthetics” have high fluidity compared to other types of lubricants. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor the condition of gearbox seals, especially for cars with high mileage.

What to pour into the VAZ 2114 engine?

It is recommended to pour mineral or semi-synthetic oil into the engine of the VAZ 2114, as well as other VAZs; “synthetics” are contraindicated. Do-it-yourself engine oil change

Work is carried out with the engine warmed up to operating temperature. We drive the VAZ 2114 into the inspection hole. We turn off the engine and take precautions (handbrake, gear).

  1. Open the hood and filler neck. We go down into the viewing hole. If there is engine protection, but it does not have a hole for access to the drain plug of the engine crankcase pan, dismantle it.
  2. Using a metal brush, clean the drain plug from dirt and unscrew it. In order not to tear off the edges, we use the cap side of the wrench or a socket head with a knob.
  3. Drain the waste into a prepared container with a volume of at least 4 liters. Until the oil starts dripping.
  4. Using a special puller, unscrew the oil filter. If there is no tool, and the filter does not respond to force applied by hand, you can use a powerful screwdriver or a hard metal rod.


    If you don’t have a key, a screwdriver will help you unscrew the filter.
    Punch through the oil filter and, using the screwdriver as a lever, unscrew it. Proceed with caution; oil will leak from the filter. Wipe the filter seat with a clean rag.

  5. Lubricate the rubber ring of the new filter element to avoid ruptures during installation and tighten it with a force of 40 Hm. We use a torque wrench. Without tools, we do the same with a filter remover or with our hands. Turn it ¾ of a turn after the rubber band touches the engine housing.
  6. Tighten the drain bolt.
  7. Fill in new engine oil. The total volume of required lubricant in the system is 3.7 liters.

  8. After three fresh liters of oil, check the level using a dipstick. We focus on the min and max marks. The level should be in the middle. If necessary, add in small portions. Motor oil tends to expand when heated. Therefore, it is on a hot engine that the final measurement of the lubricant level is made. Should correspond to the maximum mark.

Important. Deviations from the optimal level can affect the overall performance and health of the engine. An insufficient level, especially when operating an unheated internal combustion engine, is unable to adequately ensure the lubricating properties of engine elements. As a result, accelerated wear.

A level higher than normal will cause excess pressure in the system, which may affect the tightness of the seals. The most vulnerable places, such as crankshaft oil seals, can leak.

Sequence of actions when changing the oil

You can use a 17-size cylinder wrench. After unscrewing the plug, place a previously prepared container for used oil - a volume of 5 liters will be enough.

Be careful as the engine is warmed up and the fluid is very hot and you may get burned. At first, when unscrewing, the pressure may be quite strong, so be careful. All the liquid will drain in about 10 minutes - be patient.

Replacing the filter

You need to remove the old oil filter, which is located at the rear of the engine on the passenger side. In most cases, you can unscrew it by hand, but if you cannot do this, use a special key. Otherwise, you can resort to one proven method that all experienced car owners have heard of: pierce the filter housing with a screwdriver and unscrew the filter, using it as a lever.

After unscrewing the filter, make sure that there is no rubber left in the seat on the engine, and if there is any, remove it. Pour a little clean oil (about 150-200 ml) into the new filter and lubricate the rubber gasket. Screw the filter in as far as it will go, but don’t overdo it – it’s better to do it by hand.

Screw the drain plug into place on the pan and pour new oil into the engine through the neck under the hood. A funnel may come in handy for this.
