How to get to the salon

Gaining access to the interior of a VAZ-2107 will not be difficult, since additional security systems are usually not installed on this car. To gain access to the interior, you can use wire or fishing line. Let's look at each option in detail:

  1. In the VAZ-2107, standard buttons with a larger diameter “cap” are installed on the doors. They are the ones who can help get rid of the problem of a locked door. Find a fishing line or thin rope that is long enough that you can make a loop in it and still have about 1.5 meters left. The loop should be in the center of the fishing line so that you can tighten it by the loose ends. There is a small gap in the upper left corner of the door through which you can push the fishing line inside the cabin. If it is too small, then take a wooden wedge and widen the opening. Next, all you need is sleight of hand - you need to hook the bolt by the upper part with a loop, tighten the fishing line, after which all you have to do is pull up to lift it.
  2. The second option is to make a special tool from wire. Take a piece of thick wire that will hold its shape well. Its length should be equal to the height of the door. You can take it a little longer, about 3-4 centimeters, to make a hook bent at 45 degrees. Carefully inspect the door; you need to find the place where the edge of the rubber seal is located (between the window and the door body). Bend the seal to get inside the door. A couple of centimeters of free space is enough to lower the wire. It should collide with the locking mechanism, which you need to go around and plunge the rod below. After this, move the wire to the center and feel the lock lever with the hook, pull it up.

How to start a VAZ-2107 without a key

The most difficult task is starting the VAZ-2107 engine without a key. You need to act according to the instructions:

  1. Open the hood. Remove the positive wire from the battery terminal.
  2. Move the gear shift lever to neutral.
  3. Remove the cover from the steering column using a Phillips screwdriver.
  4. Remove the bundle of wires from the ignition switch.
  5. Take the red wire to the side and twist the rest together so that they are in contact with each other. Secure the bun with a paper clip so that it does not fall apart when moving.
  6. Pull the carburetor choke control handle towards you. Set the parking brake and depress the clutch.
  7. Using the red wire and twist, start the engine - to do this, you need to momentarily connect the exposed contacts. To prevent the starter from malfunctioning, insulate the red wire and keep it separate from the rest. When the engine is running steadily, lower the clutch and push in the carburetor damper control handle.

Electric trunk lock

Now it’s time to deal with the trunk lid. If you're going to do some revision, do it until the end. There are several options for how to improve the VAZ 2107 trunk lock, remote, with a button and with an electric drive. Such tricks are explained by the fact that it is not always convenient to turn off the engine to open the trunk. And if you install an electric drive, then if you have an installed alarm system, it is easy to make a remote control of the lock.

  5. Fasten and tighten the mechanism with two nuts.

How to adjust the trunk lock

If the trunk lid lock on the “seven” closes with difficulty, it needs to be adjusted relative to the locking element. To do this, loosen the fasteners and change the position of the mechanism so that the latch easily fits into the body and the lever secures it well, and there is an equal gap between the luggage compartment lid and the body over the entire area.

Adjusting the trunk lid

Sometimes it becomes necessary to adjust the trunk lid. It happens that the part is located above the rear wings or is shifted to the right or left. If the trunk lid can be moved to the sides by unscrewing the fastening nuts on the hinges, then with an incorrect height position the situation is somewhat different.

To adjust the lid in height, you will need to open it completely and, holding the edge of the lid with one hand, apply force in the hinge area with the other. A similar procedure should be repeated on the other side.

The main thing is not to overdo it. Then close the lid and check the tightness of its fit. If necessary, repeat the procedure. To adjust the force of opening the trunk lid, the edges of the torsion bars of the springs are shifted to one of the teeth of the luggage compartment hinges.

It is better to screw the hinges to it not in place, but by fixing the lid with several screws and removing the entire structure from the trunk, in a convenient place, on a workbench, for example. After this, you can sheathe the resulting organizer with any material - from leatherette to carpet. As a result, the trunk is always tidy, the floor is level and clean.

Unlike the previous luxury models - VAZ-2103 and VAZ-2106 - the new model in this segment differed less from the “norm” VAZ-2105. Thus, its body differed only in a more aggressive shape of the radiator grille and taillights. The interior now features original design seats with integrated headrests and cold air deflectors (in winter, you can direct hot air to your feet and a stream of cold air to your face). The main innovations were a more powerful 1.6 liter engine with 76 hp. s., as well as a 5-speed gearbox, which first appeared on the “classic” model of the Volzhsky Automobile Plant.

Two years later, the model range was replenished with a station wagon based on the VAZ-2105, which received the index 2104. When creating it, the main principle was the minimum cost of change - compared to the prototype. Hence some of the features: for example, the body of a station wagon is less rigid than a sedan, although according to operational requirements it should be the other way around. The “Four” quite quickly replaced the previous station wagon VAZ-2102 and for more than 15 years, until the appearance of the VAZ-2111, it remained the only model from Togliatti with this body type.

It didn’t work out that way with the “seven”. In theory, with the advent of the VAZ-2107, it was necessary to discontinue the previous luxury VAZ-2106, but for some reason the models continued to be produced in parallel. In the 1990s. The VAZ-2107 maintained its position as a luxury model, and only in the new century did this position become ambiguous. The car could no longer be considered a luxury model, since it was morally outdated compared to the VAZ-2110 and was much cheaper than the latter.

By this time, the VAZ-2107 “Zhiguli” (LADA 2107) was equipped with an engine with central fuel injection, which made the car the fastest Volga classic of all time. Combined with an aggressive “timeless” design, this gave it the image of an inexpensive car for family youth with sporting inclinations. And yet, AvtoVAZ understood that the backward model had a detrimental effect on the company’s image, although it attracted many buyers. Therefore, the plant began a policy of “removing” the VAZ-2107. In 2002, the license for its production was sold to the Ukrainian LuAZ, and in 2003 the main production was transferred from VAZ to Syzran. Since then, the “seven” have gathered anywhere - in Egypt, Chechnya, Ukraine, Izhevsk - just not in Togliatti.

The Quartet also underwent similar “migrations”. Now these two models are the last Russian successors to the Fiat 124 remaining on the assembly line and in demand for an unbeatably low price. Over their long life, the cars were repeatedly modernized, and after the assembly line “death” of their ancestor - the VAZ-2105 - they became even more similar. Now both cars are painted in the same color scheme, which has many metallic paint options, have the same electrical systems, seats and engines, as well as a “seven” radiator grille (the VAZ-2104 was originally designed as a VAZ-2105).

Hood of VAZ 2107

VAZ 2107 owners often modify the hood of the car. First of all, the lid stop, which was made at the factory in an extremely inconvenient way, changes. First you need to remove it from the latch and only then close it. On the VAZ 2106, the same stop is designed much simpler and more functional.

Installing an air intake on the hood

An air intake or snorkel is often installed on the hood of the VAZ 2107, which improves the appearance of the car and helps cool the engine. It is mounted so that air flows directly onto the air filter. Sometimes additional pipes are installed to the main air intake to increase cooling efficiency.

The snorkel is usually made by hand. In this case, it is better to use durable plastic or metal as a material. The air intake is mounted as follows.

  1. A U-shaped hole is cut in the hood with a grinder.
  2. The cut out part of the hood is bent to form the snorkel profile.
  3. Triangular metal pieces are welded along the edges to cover the ends of the part.
  4. The hood is puttied and painted to match the body color.

When cutting the hood, it is important not to touch the stiffeners provided by the design. Otherwise, the strength of the body will noticeably decrease

Hood lock

Sometimes car owners modify the hood lock of the VAZ 2107. If it does not work well or fails, the mechanism is dismantled. It is recommended to first outline the lock with a marker - this will avoid adjusting a new or restored lock. The mechanism is removed in the following order.

  1. The hood opens.
  2. The lock cable clamps come out of their seats.
  3. The bent end of the cable is straightened with pliers. The fixing sleeve is removed.
  4. Use a 10mm wrench to unscrew the lock nuts.
  5. The lock is removed from the pins.
  6. A well-oiled new lock is installed.

When replacing the cable, it is first disconnected from the lever handle. This is done from the salon. Then the cable is pulled out of its sheath. Nowadays, cables are often sold complete with a sheath. In this case, when replacing the old cable, it is pulled out along with the casing.
