What kind of oil to fill in the gearbox on a VAZ 2114

If the box is old, then connect the hose to the syringe and start injecting lubricant into the crankcase. Typically this includes about 3.3 liters of fresh transmission fluid. You are unlikely to be able to fill in more than you need, since all the excess will begin to flow back out.

1. Raise the front of the car with a jack. This way you can pour a little more lubricant into the box, where the dipstick is missing and you have to navigate along the neck. The transmission will not suffer from an excess of the composition, but if there is a shortage of lubricating fluid, problems with 5th gear will constantly arise.

If you go by the dipstick, then for the VAZ-2115 it is optimal when the level is 4 - 5 millimeters above the o. • 75W-90
• 80W-90
• 85W-90

The latter are poorly suited for Russian winters, 80W-90 can be considered universal, and with 75W-90 liquid you will not have problems even in the most severe frosts. The use of domestic oils, many of which are classified according to API GL-5, causes rapid wear of synchronizers. In this regard, it is better to fill the transmission of front-wheel drive VAZ 2115 with API GL-4 or universal API GL-4/5 transmission fluids.

It is recommended to add oil to the gearbox slightly above (5 mm) the “MAX” mark on the dipstick to improve the operating conditions of the fifth gear gear bearing, but not more than this amount.

1. Remove the oil level indicator (dipstick) from the gearbox.
2. Wipe the gearbox oil level indicator (dipstick) with a rag.
3. Insert the gearbox oil level indicator into place until it stops and remove the dipstick again. The oil level, determined by the oil film, should be between the “MIN” and “MAX” marks on the indicator (lower and upper protrusions).
4. If the gearbox does not have an oil level indicator, the oil level should reach the lower edge of the oil filler hole. To check the level, you need to unscrew the oil filler plug from the gearbox housing from the bottom of the car.
