How to turn off the alarm
There are two ways to turn off the Pantera alarm - do it using the remote control that comes with the kit, or using the Valet key. In most cases, the first option is used. If for some reason the key fob does not work, or there are malfunctions in the security system, you may need to press the Valet key.
From keychain
The main question for users of cars with a Panther alarm system is how to turn off the siren from the key fob. To do this, take the following steps:
- Take the remote control in your hands.
- Press the button with the open lock on the main or additional key fob.
- Pay attention to the confirmation signals: two sirens and two direction indicators. The built-in speaker of the remote control will also sound two beeps, and an open lock will appear on the display and, on some models, the inscription Disarm.
The second way to turn off a Panther car alarm is to do it silently. To do this, do the following:
- Take any of the keychains.
- Press the open lock button and hold it for two seconds.
- Wait for the double turn signal.
Jack button
Car owners should know how to turn off the Panther alarm using the Valet button. This option is relevant if for some reason the key fob does not communicate with the main unit and the alarm does not respond to the remote control. The problem may arise due to a low battery, desynchronization of the remote control, its malfunction, or other difficulties.
To turn off the Panther alarm without a key fob, find the Valet service button. It can be located in the glove compartment, under the dashboard, near the radio, and in other places. Most often it is installed at a distance of 80-100 cm from the main unit. The algorithm of actions is as follows:
- Turn on the ignition.
- Make sure the security system is disabled.
- Press and hold the Jack switch for two seconds. This must be done within 15 seconds after turning on the ignition.
By switching to the service mode, it is possible to disable the Panther alarm on a VAZ 2110 or other cars. At the same time, the ability to remotely open/close doors, turn on Panic or Anti HiJack mode, and control the output of an additional channel will remain. This mode is often used when transferring a car to a service station for repairs.
There is another option to turn off the Panther alarm using the Valet button. Take the following steps:
- Turn on the ignition.
- Within 15 seconds, press and release the Jack key.
This method is an emergency shutdown of the Panther alarm. The two-way transmitter will indicate that the system is triggered by door opening. At the same time, the built-in speaker emits a melody, or the vibrator is triggered three times. A flashing indicator of a car with open doors appears on the transmitter screen.
Standard Pantera alarm equipment
The alarm is sold in a cardboard package containing:
- siren bell;
- service button;
- central processor control unit;
- two-level shock sensor;
- antenna module for signal reception and transmission;
- LED indicator of security mode;
- primary and secondary remote control;
- wiring with connectors;
- installation and operation manual for the complex;
- warranty card.
Appearance
The Valet device looks quite ascetic; as a rule, it is a small elongated cylinder with a round button (and an LED, its presence depends on the alarm model) from which a wire comes.
The button is designed for hidden installation; experts recommend installing it so that there is easy and quick access to it, but it should not be in plain sight.
How to turn off after autostart
Many questions concern how to turn off the Panther alarm after remote start. The essence of the option is to start the engine remotely manually or automatically. In this case, the vehicle remains on the security system and awaits the owner. To turn on the engine, simply press the star button on the main or additional key fob twice. The system tries to start three times, after which it stops trying.
In the future, the owner can turn off the engine and the alarm itself. In the latter case, just click on the symbol with the image of a lock. If you do nothing, the engine will run for a certain time (most often 12 minutes), and then stall. The exception is when the owner decides to turn off the motor earlier.
How to turn off car alarms with your own hands?
Before completely disabling the security installation on a non-traveling vehicle, read the recommendations for entering a password. This is especially true if you use a complex car alarm system with a GSM module.
Depending on the manufacturer and model of the car alarm, the unlocking process may vary. Let's consider several options.
Sheriff
Unlocking the “Sheriff” alarm is done in this way:
- Using the key, unlock the car door locks.
- The ignition is activated.
- The service key is pressed once.
- The ignition is deactivated and reactivated.
- The emergency mode key Valet is pressed.
User ardent talked about how to properly reflash Sheriff alarm control panels to further turn off the siren.
Alligator
Depending on the alarm model, the deactivation procedure may differ.
The D-810 model can be turned off in two ways - emergency shutdown or standard.
- The car doors must be unlocked using the key; sit in the driver's seat.
- Activate the ignition.
- The driver must press the Valet button once within 15 seconds.
- The ignition is deactivated.
These steps will not activate emergency mode. This means that if the option of passive activation of protection is enabled, then after the next deactivation of the ignition and closing of the doors, the protection will be activated again. You can try to put the “alarm” into emergency mode by entering a code that is set by the car owner or installation specialist.
How to unlock:
- Car doors are opened using a key.
- The ignition is activated.
- Then it must be deactivated and reactivated.
- Within fifteen seconds, the car owner must have time to press the Valet button the number of times corresponding to the first digit of the code.
- The key is turned off and turned to ignition mode.
- In ten seconds, the driver presses Valet as many times as the PIN number should be.
- The ignition is then deactivated and turned on again. The input process is repeated as many times as there are digits in the password, but not more than four. If the procedure is completed correctly, the service option is activated.
User Karabas Barabasovich diagnosed the Alligator alarm system at the stand and spoke about the malfunctions that the car owner will encounter.
LX-440
The procedure for turning off the LX-440 model looks somewhat different:
- The door locks are unlocked using a key.
- The key is inserted into the lock and the ignition is activated.
- You must press the Valet key within ten seconds.
- The ignition is deactivated. This will activate the service function.
To deactivate a password lock, the process is carried out in the same way as in the case of the model described above. But remember that in Alligator car alarms the password can contain no more than two digits.
Deactivation is done as follows:
- Machine doors must be unlocked with a key.
- The ignition is activated, turned off, and then activated again.
- In the next ten seconds, you need to have time to click on the emergency Valet key a certain number of times, which corresponds to the first digit of the PIN code.
- The ignition is deactivated, then it is activated again.
- In the next ten seconds, you must enter the next digit of the PIN code using the service button.
- After this, the ignition is turned off and reactivated.
Location
The “standard” locations for this button are as follows:
- under the steering column;
- under the glove compartment;
- under the ashtray;
- below, in the area of the center console panel (near the gearbox tunnel);
- It is not uncommon for this button to be located in the driver's door.
Other more hidden locations for this button are:
- behind the radio (it can be easily pulled out, and a service button can often be installed behind it);
- behind parts of the trim that are easy to remove without any tools (under the armrest, in the handbrake area, under the steering casing, under the console false buttons).
Remember that if you install a Pantera car alarm, you yourself have the right to choose the location of this button, the main thing is to do it so that you can quickly use it by turning on the required operating mode of the security complex.
Therefore, when installing an alarm at a car service center, tell the technician information about where you would like to install the Valet button. However, there is a small limitation - you should not shorten or lengthen the button wire for a more convenient location, as this may affect the operation of the alarm.
What is Valet mode in alarm systems?
Valet mode is a service mode in security systems of various levels. When the alarm switches to Valet mode, the main protective functions are disabled. The use of Valet mode is intended in situations, for example, when the car is in a service center and active security options may interfere with the work of car service specialists.
It is worth noting that in some older security systems, the Valet mode is used not only to remove security measures when leaving a car in a service center or other place without a key fob. Also, previously it was necessary to go into it to make alarm settings.
The Valet button is most often hidden in the cabin from prying eyes, since it can be used by attackers to deactivate the car's security system.
Wiring Diagram Details
There are always two relays inside the main unit. When installing a security alarm, the contacts of these relays are often included in wire breaks. After disconnecting the connector connected to the specified relays, the standard wiring may need to be restored. And recovery is fast.
Install two jumpers by hand, as shown in the figure.
In general, it is better to start dismantling the alarm not by disconnecting the connectors, but by checking whether there is an autonomous siren in the engine compartment. Such equipment is first deactivated, and then disconnected from the car alarm. Manufacturers of security systems supply keys with the equipment.
What does the Valet button look like and where is it located?
Installers hide the Valet button from prying eyes, so when returning the car to a service center, they are required to inform the owner about the presence of such a button and its location.
Unfortunately, if, for example, you bought a used car, then you will have to solve the difficult puzzle of finding the sensor yourself.
How to find the treasured button? A car is not a three-room apartment, but there is actually plenty of room for a button in the cabin.
Since the Valet button itself on the alarm systems Starline, Sheriff, Alligator, Pandora, Pantera, Scher-Khan and other popular models is miniature in size, it can be installed in the most secret place: under the fuse box cover, under the steering wheel, behind the glove compartment, behind the instrument panel, behind the radio, etc.
If a visual search around the cabin does not produce results, then it is better to take a simpler route - you need to find the central alarm unit and look in which direction the thin two-wire wire leads.
The button itself in most cases is a small barrel with a diameter of one and a half centimeters, in the center of which there is a slightly recessed (protection against accidental pressing) mini-key.

Reasons for urgent deactivation
Disabling the alarm is required if the system is not operating correctly. The reasons for deactivating the anti-theft for subsequent repair work or starting the machine are:
A car alarm is a complex system interconnected with the internal combustion engine, doors, ignition switch, and on-board sensors. To turn it off, use a remote control, as well as emergency methods. Emergency shutdown is used when placing a vehicle for long-term storage in a guarded parking lot or garage.
System shutdown methods
If a factory or self-installed car alarm has gone off, you can unlock the protective mode in two ways.
If there is no remote control
How to turn off the alarm:
- Emergency method. We are talking about activating the Valet emergency function, which we described above. You need to open the door locks of a locked car with a key, then manipulate the emergency button. If you need help, we recommend contacting electricians who work on site.
- Coded shutdown. We are talking about entering a PIN code, which consists of several numbers. Their number can vary from two to four, it all depends on the type of “signaling” and its model. First, the ignition must be turned on, then the emergency key is pressed a certain number of times, which corresponds to the first digit of the password. After this, the ignition is turned off, the procedure with its activation and entering the next digit is repeated.
How to turn off the siren?
The car alarm speaker will work if you do not disable the security mode and simply open the doors with the key. To prevent the system from triggering, the device can be turned off. It is advisable to do this if you cannot unlock the “signaling” with your own hands.
How to turn off the speaker:
- Start the car engine. Most installations are configured in such a way that after the ignition is activated, the speaker turns off.
- Find the safety device through which the alarm is connected to the battery. In the case of a standard system, the safety component may be located in a common block with the devices. The device itself is located in the steering column housing or next to it. If the “alarm” was installed independently, then the safety device should be looked for in the engine compartment. Sometimes installers place safety components near the positive output of the battery.
- Dismantle the element with pliers or special tongs. As soon as you remove the required fuse, the siren will be unlocked.
- If the fuse was not found, try disconnecting the negative terminal from the battery. This will lead to a complete blackout of the machine's electrical network. As a result of disconnecting the terminal, all electronic devices installed in the car will be reset. In this case, starting the power unit will not be possible. Wait about one minute, then reinstall the battery terminal. When the siren speaker stops signaling, the device will be successfully turned off. If the problem persists and the siren goes off, you should contact a specialist.
Disconnecting the battery terminal
Features of the Pantera alarm system
Six security zones reliably protect the vehicle from attacks by ill-wishers. The dynamic BACS Dialog SST code, used in systems with two-way communication, eliminates any attempt at intelligent hacking. Increased resistance to radio interference ensures stable communication within a radius of up to one and a half kilometers. In alert mode, the distance reaches two and a half kilometers in open areas.
Instructions for using the Pantera alarm
Before you start using the security system, you should study the instructions included with the alarm. At the basic level, at least know how to operate the remote control keys. The main key fob of the Panther alarm system is equipped with four control buttons.
Pantera key fob key combination
The combinations of buttons on the main transceiver of all models of the Panther brand are basically similar, with the exception of some differences. Below is a table of key combinations for the Panther SLK-6xxRS alarm.
Function programming
In order to make changes to the autostart functions of the SLK-550RS model, you must perform the following steps.
Dismantling the signaling, step-by-step instructions
If the standard battery has not been disconnected, the power supply from the car alarm is disconnected as follows: you need to find the pre-flask through which current flows to the alarm, and disassemble the body of the bulb by hand. Then you can remove the fuse so that the supply voltage does not go to the main module.
How to fix this problem is discussed further.
Installing jumpers in the connector terminal block
When installing a security alarm, it can be equipped with immobilizer functions. One or more relays are connected to the break in the wires responsible for powering “important” equipment (fuel pump, starter). The windings of these relays are connected to the main car alarm module (to the blocking outputs).
There are two options:
In the second case, obviously, the engine will not start until current flows through the relay winding.
If it is determined that the first option is being used, then the terminal block is simply disconnected and isolated from the car alarm connector. For the second case, everything looks more complicated. But the situation can be corrected on your own without dismantling the relay. See the main connector diagram.
The blocking relay can be connected to output “1” or to output “12”. Sometimes both options are used, and you, in turn, need to do this:
At one of the steps, the engine will inevitably start.
The functionality of any systems, if they were controlled by a signaling module, can be restored simply by closing the control contacts. But if the relay was connected according to “Scheme 1” during installation, there is no need to install jumpers. Otherwise, by your actions you will activate the blocking instead of disabling it.
Switching the system to Valet mode
In a situation where the “signaling” cannot be turned off from the key fob, one of the easiest options to turn it off is to switch to Valet mode. We recommend that you find out how this is done in the technical manual for the alarm, which is included in the package.
You need to start by looking for an emergency button installation. If the “alarm” was installed independently, the car owner must know where it is installed. Installers usually place it under the control panel or near the safety component block.
When you find the car alarm service key, follow one of the following algorithms:
- Place the key in the ignition, turn it to the ACC position, then click the emergency button four times. After this, return the key to its original position.
- Insert the key into the lock and turn it to the ignition position, click the emergency function button once. The ignition will be deactivated.
- After performing the above steps, start the engine and reconnect the siren contact.
