Daewoo Matiz oil filter: original, analogue, how to distinguish a fake, replacement

Transmission oil change interval

The manufacturer of Daewoo Matiz did not indicate the replacement interval for the “transmission” in the automatic transmission, implying the use of the initial lubricant throughout the entire service life of the car. This option is only possible when operating under ideal conditions. In Russia, with its weather conditions and poor quality road surfaces, it is impossible to create such conditions.

In order for gear shifts to be carried out without interruptions, it is necessary to control the quality of the oil and its timely replacement with the Daewoo Matiz automatic transmission. Experienced car enthusiasts recommend updating the transmission fluid after every 60 - 70 thousand kilometers of travel. This interval will allow you to maintain the functionality of the gearbox on the Daewoo Matiz for many years without the need for repairs.

Replacement frequency

The replacement period for consumables in the case of Daewoo Matiz, according to various sources, can vary between 5-15 thousand kilometers. It all depends on the operating conditions, as well as how well the owner complies with traffic rules. So, let’s highlight the following factors that may be a reason to reduce the frequency of engine oil changes:

  • Driving at high speeds, sudden maneuvers
  • The engine constantly runs at maximum speed, and because of this it overheats
  • Changes in air temperature, sudden warming/cooling

Any of the above factors can lead to the fact that, in the end, the oil will quickly lose its beneficial properties, and this will have the saddest impact on engine reliability. To avoid unpredictable problems and defects, it is necessary to replace the substance in a timely manner, and even better, check the condition and volume of the oil in advance.

Practical advice on choosing oil for Daewoo Matiz automatic transmission

Daewoo Matiz is a small budget car, which provides for its inexpensive maintenance. As an automatic unit, the manufacturer installs a four-speed automatic transmission from the Japanese company Jatco. These boxes have already proven themselves to be reliable and easy to maintain mechanisms. But for the unit to work properly, it is necessary to use only high-quality lubricants.

When changing the oil in a Daewoo Matiz automatic transmission, you need to pay special attention. Any transmission fluid purchased at the nearest auto store may not be suitable in terms of its lubricating and temperature properties. The choice of product must be approached responsibly.

Original oil

Timely replacement of automatic transmission oil on Daewoo Matiz extends the service life of the unit, maintaining clear gear shifting and the absence of extraneous sounds while driving. The manufacturer Daewoo Matiz recommends using the Korean semi-synthetic fluid Esso JW3314 as an original lubricant. Its average price for a liter canister is 1,100 rubles.

Considering that for a partial replacement you will need about 3 liters, and for a complete replacement - 2 times more, then this procedure can significantly affect the wallet of the owner of the Daewoo Matiz. Another problem that a car enthusiast may have is the difficulty of purchasing this product. The original lubricant is not always available, and it is often not possible to search for it in all the stores in the city or wait for an order from an online market.

Analogs

Any original can be replaced with similar products. The quality is not lost. It is only important to choose a gear lubricant with the same properties. As analogues for Daewoo Matiz, it is recommended to use liquids of the Dexron II or Dexron III class. The most popular samples are shown in the table below.

Product NameArticle number for orderingAverage price per 1 liter
Castrol ATF Multivehicle154F33600 RUR
Ravenol Mercon V1212101-001400 RUR
Ravenol JF405E1211118-004650 RUR
Mobil ATF SHC152645800 RUR
Liqui Moly ATF lll HC3946700 RUR

The use of analog oil when replacing it on a Daewoo Matiz automatic transmission does not reduce the performance of the unit. Mixing different types of transmission fluids is permissible if they belong to the same tolerance class and are similar in composition.

  • Checking the oil level (ATF) in the automatic transmission
  • Drive the vehicle until the transmission oil (ATF) reaches normal operating temperature (70–80°C).
  • Place the car on a flat, horizontal platform.
  • Press the brake pedal and move the automatic transmission selector lever sequentially through all positions (holding it in each of them for a few seconds) to fill the entire automatic transmission control hydraulic system and the automatic transmission torque converter with oil (ATF), and then set the selector lever to the “N” position.

Before removing the oil dipstick, clean the area around it from dirt. Remove the dipstick and check the condition of the gearbox oil (ATF).

NOTE If the oil (ATF) in the automatic transmission has a burnt smell, this is a sign of contamination with small particles of wear on the friction linings of the gearbox control elements. In this case, the transmission may need to be overhauled.

The normal automatic transmission oil level (ATF) should be in the “HOT” range of the oil dipstick. If the level is below the specified level, add automatic transmission oil (ATF) to the normal level.

Automatic transmission oil (ATF): GENUINE HYUNDAI ATF SP-II M.

NOTE If the oil level (ATF) in the automatic transmission is below normal, the oil pump will capture oil along with air, which will lead to the formation of bubbles and foaming of the oil in the hydraulic system. This will reduce the operating pressure in the hydraulic control system, which in turn will lead to a delay when changing gears (late gear engagement) and slipping of the friction clutches or brakes. If the oil level (ATF) in the automatic transmission is higher than normal, then due to the rotation of the gears of the planetary mechanisms, excessive foaming of the oil (ATF) will occur, which will result in the same consequences as in the case of a low oil level (ATF) in the automatic transmission. In both cases, air bubbles cause overheating, oil oxidation (ATF) and varnish deposits, which damage valves, clutches and actuators. Foaming also causes oil (ATF) to be released through the automatic transmission crankcase breather, which is mistaken for a leak.

Insert the oil dipstick firmly into the standard hole.

In case of major overhaul of an automatic transmission or operation of a vehicle in difficult road conditions, changing the automatic transmission oil (ATF) and oil filter is mandatory. The procedure for changing automatic transmission oil (ATF) is described below. It must be remembered that only special oil filters are used in automatic transmissions.

ATTENTION It must be remembered that only special oil filters are used in automatic transmissions.

Changing the automatic transmission oil (ATF)

You can use the installation for quick oil change (ATF) in automatic transmission (ATF fluid charger). If there is no such setting, change the automatic transmission oil (ATF) as described below.

  1. Draining oil (ATF) from the automatic transmission hydraulic system:
  2. – disconnect the hose that connects the gearbox to the oil cooler located inside the engine cooling radiator;
  3. – start the engine and let the oil (ATF) drain through the hose.
  4. Conditions for performing the operation:
  5. – the engine is idling;
  6. – the automatic transmission selector lever is in the “N” position.
ATTENTION The engine must be turned off one minute after starting. If all the oil (ATF) has leaked out before this moment, then the engine must be turned off immediately.
  • Unscrew the drain plug on the bottom of the automatic transmission housing and drain the oil (ATF) from the automatic transmission oil pan.
  • Reinstall the drain plug with gasket and tighten the plug to a torque of 32 Nm.
  • Fill in new automatic transmission oil (ATF) through the automatic transmission oil filler pipe.
ATTENTION If the rated amount of automatic transmission oil (ATF) is not included in the transmission, stop filling.
NOTE Check for contamination in the drained oil (ATF). If the automatic transmission is filled with more than the nominal amount of ATF, let the oil drain from the gearbox again.

Replace the external automatic transmission oil filter. If the oil (ATF) is significantly contaminated, check the condition of the internal automatic transmission oil filter.

Fill in new automatic transmission oil (ATF) through the automatic transmission oil filler pipe.

Connect the automatic transmission oil cooler hose and reinstall the oil dipstick securely. Before installing the automatic transmission oil dipstick, clean the area around it from dirt.

Start the engine and let it idle for 1-2 minutes.

Move the automatic transmission selector lever sequentially through all positions and then set it to the “N” position.

Make sure that the automatic transmission oil (ATF) level is in the “COLD” range of the dipstick. If the level is below the specified level, add the required amount of automatic transmission oil (ATF).

Drive the car for a certain distance so that the oil temperature (ATF) reaches the normal operating value (70–80°C), then check the automatic transmission oil level (ATF) again, which should be in the “NOT” range (“warm-up automatic transmission”) .

Firmly install the oil dipstick into the automatic transmission oil filler pipe (Fig. 3.60).

Replacing the automatic transmission oil filter

Remove the air filter assembly, then use a special tool (oil filter chain wrench, etc.) to remove the automatic transmission oil filter.

After removing the filter, use cloth gloves or a rag to clean the surface of the gearbox from splashes of automatic transmission oil (ATF), dirt, etc.

Clean the mounting surface of the automatic transmission oil filter.

Rice. 3.61 . Oil filter gasket

Lubricate the surface of the automatic transmission oil filter ring gasket with a small amount of clean automatic transmission oil (ATF) (Fig. 3.61).

  1. Reinstall the automatic transmission oil filter.
  2. Tightening torque: 11–13 Nm.
  3. Check the automatic transmission oil (ATF) level in the gearbox.

Checking the level

Before you begin the process of changing the automatic transmission oil on a Matiz, you need to check its level using a special dipstick. It is located under the hood, like most cars. To ensure accurate measurements, it is recommended to do the following:

A rich red tint and the absence of foreign odors indicate the good condition of the “transmission”. If there are solid particles left on the rag, the color is cloudy and dark, and there is a burning smell, then these are signs of overheating of the Daewoo Matiz automatic transmission, which results in carbon deposits.

The optimal level of oil filled in the box is the average value between the maximum and minimum on the dipstick. Critical values in both directions are unacceptable and must be eliminated by adding liquid or removing excess.

Test No. 3

Let's remember driving school and play manual transmission on an automatic machine.

  1. Press the “OverDrive” button on the selector, the “O/D OFF” sign will light up on the instrument panel.
  2. Let’s start driving by moving the lever to the “L” position, smoothly raising the engine speed while driving until the car begins to buzz diligently and ask for the next gear (tachometer value is around 3000 rpm).
  3. Let's move the lever to position 2 and raise the speed, resolving the desire of the gearbox by switching to “D4”.
  4. And for the last time, having gained a buzzing speed, we press the button on the selector, allowing the Matiz to rush at high speed.

Did the gears shift as if someone was holding the car by the rear bumper and letting go as you moved the lever? However, no irritating factors were found. Great, last road test left!

Blue-glazed Daewoo Matiz

Changing the oil in the automatic transmission Matiz

I sometimes check the oil there and the level keeps dropping and dropping and the oil is the color of oil. The car has run about 75 thousand on this oil, which, however little, makes its presence felt.

Choosing oil was the longest time, I really didn’t know what to take and there is little information about this, who pours what into it, from Lukoil ATF3 to Ravenol. After surfing the Internet, I read that it looks like we have synthetics. Prices on the market are different and no one can offer something intelligible. I saw in posts that they upload zic, I decided to read it. On the zic website there is a selection of oils for the entire car, for the box they chose zic multi vechle for me, but I myself still bought zic atf 3. When I called the car service they told me that the oil needed was the full volume of the box * 1.5. So 4.7*1.5

8 l The price of the procedure on the device is 1700 rubles. I bought everything and went. When we had already drained some of the oil, it turned out that our Matiz did not have fittings for the cooling system to which the device was connected.

So we will exchange the strait. We drain the old one, fill in 2.5 new ones, turn on the car, change gears, and drain it, and so on until the oil turns red. 8 liters was enough for us for 2 washings and refilling. The entire bottom of my engine is covered in oil, the picture is terrible because the old sealant of the machine simply wore out and began to leak, and often the oil simply spilled into the bottom. The magnet inside was like a hedgehog, I had to clean it after every wash. They told me to wash the bottom, that there was such a car wash in Samara, but I don’t know where. In general, I paid 1500 rubles for the work and 1200 rubles for oil 4 liters. Total 3700 rubles, I think it’s cheaper than repairing an automatic transmission) I’ll answer all questions)

Where can I buy?

You can purchase spare parts and working fluids HERE . The online store offers a large selection of high-quality automotive products.

You can buy products for Daewoo cars at an affordable price. The price for oil is about 6,000 tenge.

Where to do it?

Motorists who were unable to improve the technical condition of their car on their own can do so HERE . Professionals will quickly inspect the car and carry out quality repairs.

We have a Daewoo Matiz car, produced in 2011, with a 0.8 liter engine, for scheduled maintenance, on which it is necessary to change the oil in the manual transmission. We will show you visual photo and video instructions on how to do this procedure quickly and correctly, with your own hands.

We raise the car and remove the protection. We do not completely unscrew the drain plug using a 3/8 tetrahedron:

We set up a container in advance where the used oil will drain. Then we unscrew the filler plug, it is located above the drive on top, we use a 24mm socket:

Now you can completely unscrew the drain plug, the oil will flow out smoothly and without splashing. After the last drops have drained, tighten the drain plug. Be sure to wash off oil leaks from the box; this is best done with carburetor cleaner.

We insert a hose into the filler hole, take it out under the hood and put a funnel on it, we will fill it with ZIG 75w85 GL-4 oil, order number 132626.

We poured 2 liters and 100 grams. We tighten the filler plug.

Changing the automatic transmission oil

Today I went to the Automatic Transmission Center to change the automatic transmission oil. The last time it was changed was in 2012 at 40,000 miles. I think it’s time to change it again, because now the mileage is 75,000. Although I think that it wasn’t changed at all.

Well... Of course, I expected more... So we arrived there and lifted my Maska on the lift.

Moreover, I told the foreman that the tray needs to be removed there and the device cannot be connected there, to which he grinned like “what do you know anyway, girl.” So he unscrewed the plug, 2 liters of oil drained out and alas! But there is nowhere to connect the device! Surprise! Well, who's the fool here?

He refused to remove the pan like I don’t have a new filter, he refused to wash the old one. As a result, I tightened the plug, poured 2 liters of oil through the dipstick, I drove the box a little and, in principle, that was it! By the way, the oil was just dark and had a burning smell, but without shavings. It felt like the gearbox shifted more smoothly. They charged us 1000 rubles for the work. My husband looked at all this and said that in the summer he would do everything for me himself and “humanly.” I'm upset, to be honest. =((

I forgot to say. They looked at the car from below and told us that we needed to change the limit switches on the front wheels. Everything else is fine.

Changing the oil filter

To replace the oil filter, you usually do not need any additional tools; everything is done by hand.

  1. Place a tray under the filter: this will make the cleaning process easier in the future.
  2. Unscrew the oil filter. If the car has air conditioning, you will have to remove the resonator. Usually the oil filter can be unscrewed without much effort. But sometimes it is twisted too tightly, to the point of damaging the gasket. In such cases, you have to use a special puller or chain wrench. It helps to tap the circle of the filter to loosen the seal of the rubber gasket. If this does not have an effect, you can pierce the filter, for example, with a screwdriver, and then unscrew it.
  3. Fill the new filter with fresh oil (the same one that will be used for the engine). This is necessary to avoid starting the engine with a dry filter. Pre-filling the filter volume will speed up the flow of oil to the engine components after startup. It is necessary to generously lubricate the rubber gasket of the filter element, which will be adjacent to the block.
  4. Install a new filter. Before screwing to the fitting, wipe the joints.
  5. If a small amount of oil spills when screwing, it's not a big deal. You should not be too zealous when tightening the filter, so that next time you will not have to use special tools to unscrew it.

Once the new filter is installed and all the old oil has been removed, the drain plug is screwed into place using a torque wrench. This tool allows you to avoid damaging the plug if you tighten it too tightly and prevent leaks if you tighten it weakly. For tightening using a torque wrench, the data “35-40 N/m” is set on it. Then carefully, effortlessly, the key is turned until a characteristic click is heard, which indicates that the drain plug is tightened to the set value.

Before installing the filter, clean the joint area

When to change

Before changing the oil in the Daewoo Matiz automatic transmission, you should pay attention to the mileage. The first time you will need to do this is after 40 thousand kilometers. In the future, a change can be made every 70 thousand. It is also recommended to check the condition of the automatic transmission. This is done in a few simple steps:

There should be no extraneous sounds or shocks during the test. If they are, then this is already a reason to change the automatic transmission, since the existing parts are already very worn out. In the case when everything works fine, but you experience difficulty in driving, you need to change the transmission oil.

And a little about the author’s secrets

My life is not only connected with cars, but with repairs and maintenance. But I also have hobbies like all men. My hobby is fishing.

I started a personal blog in which I share my experience. I try a lot of things, different methods and methods to increase my catch. If interested, you can read it. Nothing extra, just my personal experience.

On a Daewoo Matiz car it is necessary to change the transmission oil as part of maintenance. Drivers can perform the procedure themselves, having prepared for this in advance. Motorists will need to prepare automotive tools and new manual transmission oil.

To carry out the work yourself, you need to familiarize yourself with how to pour oil into a Daewoo Matiz box .

The lack of professional assistance can negatively affect the result of the work if car owners are inattentive or do not follow the instructions.

Checking the oil level and condition

Before changing the oil, the first thing to do is check the level. This is done simply:

If a trace of a bright light shade of red remains on it, then the lubricant life is high. This also signals that all gearbox elements are in good condition. If small black particles and a dark color appear on the rag, it is time to urgently change the oil. Otherwise, in the near future, the expensive automatic transmission will stop working and, most likely, will break down. Also check the oil level using the dipstick. If it is higher than the maximum, then remove the excess. A large amount can lead to carbon deposits on the entire Daewoo Matiz transmission. Also, keep the level low. In this case, the lubricant resource is simply not enough for the car. Try to avoid critical conditions.

Failure to follow simple rules will lead to rapid breakdown of the automatic transmission. And repairs are far from the cheapest. Calling a car service will significantly impact your wallet.

Test No. 4

It is aimed at checking the aggressiveness of the automatic transmission.

  1. We accelerate the car to 50 km/h, then quickly press the gas pedal all the way, at this moment the automatic transmission will lower the gear, and you will feel a gentle push forward.
  2. Didn't have time to understand what happened? Then, from 50 km/h, start increasing the speed, and then press the “OverDrive” button.

Acceleration obtained - excellent, test passed!

What is better to choose

Choosing oil is an important step for every driver. If the product does not match a specific car, there is a risk of aggravating the situation. The most common products are:

In fact, you can choose almost any oil. The main evaluation criterion is the availability of certification and GOST. Be sure to review the product you are purchasing for availability. Unverified manufacturers offer cheap products, but they are the ones that can harm Matiz even more.

Manufacturer's recommendations

the recommended oil “ESSO JWS 3314” was indicated on the dipstick. Most often, drivers do not take this recommendation into account. It is best to choose the products presented above. But this oil also works well and shows good results when working in a Matiz automatic transmission. The manufacturer also recommends following the standards that are checked with a probe. But this is already a public fact that every driver follows, regardless of the model of his car.

A really worthwhile tip is to completely change the lubricant. It is produced to completely displace the old used one and replace it with a new one. This helps improve transmission performance and restore performance to values close to factory specifications. You just need to take into account that for the complete change procedure you will need an oil cooler. The manufacturer does not supply it with the car. In car repair shops, prices are rising every year, and a radiator is purchased once for the entire time.

Test No. 1

Let's proceed to one of the methods for checking the Matiz gearbox:

  1. We start the engine, confidently press the brake pedal all the way, and release the handbrake.
  2. Then, move the selector lever one by one to all positions.
  3. From mode “P” (parking) to mode “R” (reverse - moving backward), or when switching from mode “N” (neutral - no gear is occupied) to mode “D4” (drive - moving forward with sequential connection).

When the gear is engaged, there should be no shocks; loud, harsh sounds that frighten the timid driver should not be heard from somewhere in the depths of the car. The tachometer needle should sway slightly in the wake of the new gear and freeze at the new value; the engine will raise the tone of a contented rumbling, demonstrating the tractability and serviceability of the systems.

A similar check is carried out on a flat surface of the parking space.

WARNING: During road tests, do not take your eyes off the road for more than half a second!

How to carry out a shift in an automatic transmission

You do not need to be a specialist to carry out this procedure. You can change the automatic transmission oil in a Daewoo Matiz in a few steps:

That's all. You have successfully changed the oil in the Daewoo Matiz automatic transmission. As you can see, there is nothing complicated. Even an inexperienced driver can cope with this task.

To summarize, we can say that changing the oil in a Daewoo Matiz automatic transmission is not a complicated process. It is recommended to perform the procedure regularly. This will help get rid of annoying noise and improve handling.

Which one to use

First of all, it is worth remembering that oils intended for a manual gearbox cannot be used in automatic transmissions!

The manufacturer uses and recommends for the Matiz ESSO JWS 3314 automatic transmission. DEXRON III is also suitable. Castrol recommends casting TRANSMAX-Z. The volume of liquid to be filled is 4.78 liters.

For mechanics, SAE 75W85 or API GL-4 is recommended. It is also possible to use SAE 75W90. Here the filling volume is 2.1 liters.

All-season synthetic oil has proven itself well in Russian conditions. It meets the requirements of VW501.50. The advantages of such a lubricant are obvious:

  • Feels great at low temperatures;
  • Reduces noise levels;
  • The range of use at high and low temperatures is quite wide;
  • Anti-wear properties at a high level;
  • High quality resource;
  • The declared viscosity saves fuel.

SAE 75W-90 viscosity grade is the most favorable. Kinematic viscosity at 400C is cSt 75, and at 1000C – cSt 14.5. The pour point is -450C.

Such substances are applicable not only in automatic transmissions, but also in Matiz manual transmissions, where it is recommended to use an API GL-4 class lubricant. The Mobile brand is perfect. Castrol Multivehicle75w90 for mechanics is also highly preferable. The gearbox is clearer and works better, there are no problems with gear shifting.
