  • flat screwdriver and Phillips screwdriver;
  • a set of cables with which the device will be connected to electricity;
  • a set of fastening brackets with Velcro;
  • insulating tape;
  • soldering iron;
  • female cigarette lighter socket (optional).

Wiring Guide:

  1. The upper lampshade is disassembled using a screwdriver with a Phillips or flat tip - depending on the type of fastener.
  2. The contacts of the lampshade and the recorder are connected plus to plus, minus to minus. You can connect the ends of the wiring to the lamp plug.

It is impossible to insulate wires; this is stated in all rules for using electrical equipment. A poor connection often causes interference in video recording and distorts the recording. To determine which wire to connect the lamp to the recorder using a multimeter, marking the wires will also help. Red is a plus. Black is a minus.

The standard plug for supplying power to the recorder does not fit - it is disassembled or an additional female cigarette lighter socket is purchased. It is recommended to entrust the analysis to a specialist with technical education or work experience. Safety when connected to the lampshade is ensured by the power module. Design and operation

The cigarette lighter in a car consists of a chrome-plated metal body, a heating element with a coil of high resistivity material (nichrome or similar), a plastic push-button handle, and a coil spring inside the housing. The cigarette lighter socket is a steel cup with a bimetallic heater retainer on the end wall of the housing inside. The common wire of the car's electrical equipment (ground) is connected to the body of the cigarette lighter socket, and the power (+) is connected to the heater retainer. To illuminate the cigarette lighter socket in low light conditions, a light guide made of transparent greenish plastic is installed on the body, onto which a socket with a small light bulb is attached. One of its contacts is connected to the socket body, and the other to the wire that supplies power to the instrument lighting.

The cigarette lighter works as follows. One end of the heater spiral inserted into the socket is in contact with ground through the cigarette lighter body. When you press the handle-button, the heater is fixed with a bimetallic latch, to which at this moment the other end of the spiral is connected. The current flowing through the nichrome wire heats it up. This also heats up the bimetallic clamp, which, when a certain temperature is reached, straightens and ceases to hold the heater. Then the cigarette lighter button, under the action of a spring, breaks the electrical circuit of the heater with a characteristic click and jumps out.

The electrical wiring is protected from a short circuit in the cigarette lighter by a fuse link in the fuse box. It is denoted by CIG, cigar, or a pictogram depicting a smoking cigarette. The rating of this fuse is most often 15 A.

The device is protected from fire by a low-melting metal washer installed under the nut securing the power terminal. The principle of operation of this protection is as follows. When the nichrome spiral is overheated for a long time, the end of the socket body heats up to the melting point of the protective washer. Melting, the washer flows down and connects the power terminal to the body of the device connected to the common wire of the electrical equipment. As a result of this short circuit, the fuse-link burns out, the cigarette lighter is de-energized, and heating stops.

Common reasons for refusal

The reason why your cigarette lighter is not working may be due to the following faults:

  • The fuse has blown.
  • Broken filament coil.
  • Fire protection activated. With this malfunction, the new fuse fails during installation. Triggering of fire protection often occurs due to accidental pressing and prolonged holding of the cigarette lighter button. What can happen, for example, when you try to reach an object that has fallen on the floor and rolled under the seat.
  • Corrosion of power terminals and cigarette lighter ground.

Replacing the cigarette lighter

  • Buy a new car lighter.
  • Using a flathead screwdriver, remove the plastic ends from the air damper control levers.
  • Remove the screws securing the air damper control bracket.
  • Pull it towards you and remove the knob from the fan speed control.
  • Remove the screws securing the center console to the instrument panel (2 pieces on each side). Pull the console towards you and disconnect its connectors from the wiring harness.
  • Remove the console.
  • Using two fingers, press the sides of the bracket holding the backlight socket and remove it from the light guide of the socket.
  • Press the plastic socket clamps with your fingers or a screwdriver and remove the assembly body from the console hole.
  • Insert a new socket in place of the old one.
  • Install the backlight assembly onto the light guide. Make sure that there is contact between the backlight bracket and the body.
  • Connect the console connectors to the wiring.
  • Check if the buttons, regulator and the unit you replaced are working.
  • Put the console back in place.
  • Attach the damper control bracket to it.
  • Secure the console with self-tapping screws.
  • Place the handles on the levers and the regulator shaft.

I decided to check the tire pressure and pump it up a little.

I plugged it in, gave the pump to my dad and pumped it up at a gas station. The next day I realized that the signal was not working

I went to Auto49, bought this F20 and a set of spare ones. Replaced it, the signal worked.

However, as for the benefits, this is my personal opinion.

Why didn't the fuse blow on that car? By the way, usually its nominal value is 15 A, less often - 10 A (in Zhiguli they used 16 A). Now imagine what happens if for some reason the device consumes a similar current for a long time, and the contact “sparks”.

Solid power begins to dissipate in the outlet, which quickly heats up and... well, the rest becomes clear. If there is thermoplastic around that is afraid of heating, then exactly what happened to the lady will happen. The fire was not a fire, but the torpedo melted.

In this case, the current can remain within the tolerance limits - this is not a short circuit! On my own behalf, I’ll add that in practice, fuses can often easily withstand increased current: this is not good, but - that is what it is...

Even if the likelihood of a fire is low, you should never provoke it. And we do this often. Below are the advice of a man who once survived a full-fledged fire, losing... Okay, I don’t want to remember.

Dismantling and repairing the electrical connection of the cigarette lighter

If none of the above works, you will have to remove the cigarette lighter socket itself and look at the integrity of the electrical connections. This task must be performed with the utmost care so as not to damage the delicate contacts and also not to spoil the visual appearance of the socket. Often this item is chrome plated, making it difficult to remove.

Each car has its own characteristics of disassembling this unit. If you can reach the back side of the panel and push the socket from the inside, this dismantling option will be the easiest. Otherwise you will have to do the following:

  • find a tool with rubberized tips - these can be special pliers;
  • if you don’t have such a tool, use regular pliers, but place a soft cloth under the tool;
  • pull the different edges of the cigarette lighter one by one and slowly pull it out of the installation location;
  • you should not put too much effort, because you can damage the plastic elements of the panel and ruin the appearance of the metal;
  • After dismantling, provide a high stand under the cigarette lighter socket so that it does not hang on thin wires.

This will help you remove the device socket safely and without damage and gain direct access to the wires. If you have reached this stage, then most likely you will find one sealed or burnt wire on the case. It needs to be soldered in place to ensure proper operation of the equipment.

The main motive for working with headlights is insufficient road lighting. There are many reasons for this:

  • From the factory the car comes with a low beam adjusted for the driver's weight of 75 kg . This is a universal setting - if your weight is different, you need to adjust it immediately after purchase;
  • the hydraulic corrector has failed - when it breaks, the headlights either shine crookedly or are not adjusted at all;
  • Driving over bumps and potholes over time leads to changes in the settings of the light beam;
  • buying a car second-hand - it is not known exactly how the lights were set up by the previous owner.

What you need to know about fuses

Fuses are designed to protect electrical equipment from overvoltage and short circuit.

New fusible protective devices are smaller in size. The following Grant models are equipped with them:

The difference between the schemes in the Standard, Norm or Lux trim levels is insignificant, and is primarily due to the installation of additional equipment.

A total of 32 fuses are installed in the mounting block, which is slightly more than in older versions. Those of them that are located in the cabin are responsible for the operation of various circuits with relatively low power.

The power ones, as previously noted, are placed in the engine compartment. This was done to ensure a greater level of safety and ease of maintenance of the vehicle.

The manufacturer expressly prohibits the use of protective devices during replacement that do not correspond to the nominal ratings of those indicated in the diagram. In particular, exceeding the maximum values ​​leads to overload of the circuit and subsequent failure of the equipment powered by it. All this most often leads to fire.

For example, fuse F1 has a function to protect the circuits of such current collectors:

  • ignition coils;
  • nozzles;
  • motor and fan control unit.

Element F2 is responsible for the safety of the electrical power window mechanism circuits.

F3 and F4 respectively “monitor” the safety of circuits belonging to:

  • hazard warning lights and windshield wipers;
  • airbag.

Elements F9 and F10 are “entrusted” with controlling the wiring to the side lights.

It is important to remember that each safety element has a current limit that it can withstand.

  • F8, “standing guard” of the rear window heating circuit, is designed for a maximum of 30 Amps;
  • F6, which controls the operation of the reversing light, can only withstand 7.5 A.

It is easy to guess that these values ​​of this parameter are directly dependent on the required electrical consumption of a particular pantograph.
