Restyled Lada Largus: how does it drive with the new eight-valve engine?

Lada Largus is a family of the market niche “multi-purpose universal vehicles” (MPV) and the first joint development of AvtoVAZ and the French-Japanese alliance Renault-Nissan. The car is produced in the body of a van, compact van, station wagon and pseudo-crossover). The entire Lada model range.

Although the model is new for Russia, in reality it represents only a slightly transformed (based on the words of the AvtoVAZ company - adapted to domestic conditions of use) French-Romanian Logan MCV/VAN. The first Largus model left the conveyor plant in Tolyatti on June 17, 2011.

But serial production of the vehicle started only in April 2012. It is worth noting that the domestic version of the MPV quickly became one of the most popular Lada cars on our market. But the official history of the practical car began earlier – at the end of 2010. During the Moscow Automobile Salon, a car was presented under the code name “Project R90”.

The first mass-produced Lada Largus car with the number “000001” turned out to be unusual. Russian President V.V. Putin put his signature on its hood. and representatives of Renault and Nissan.

Appearance

If you turn your attention to the appearance of the Lada Largus station wagon, you can easily recognize in it an exact resemblance to the Dacia/Renault Logan MCV of the 1st family, except for small elements. Most similarities with the Tolyatti brand can be seen on the front of the vehicle. And it doesn’t matter who is in front of us - the passenger version or the Largus van.

The chrome horizontal line that crosses the grille rests on the . On top of that, the front part has modest optics and a bumper with soft patterns and an air intake “mouth”. The front headlights look quite modest. The luxury version allows you to install fog lights in the black recesses.

Lada Largus is the most spacious Russian passenger car. The name of the car was also not invented in vain - translated from Latin it means “generous”.

If you look at the car from the side, it looks like the most ordinary station wagon from another manufacturer. There is a sloping hood, a flat roof and large side glazing. The side repeats the design up to the edge of the doors of the 2nd row of the Renault Logan sedan. The wheelbase turned out to be stretched.

Lada Largus belongs to the station wagon division and over the entire period since the start of sales and use, the car has received a considerable number of good reviews. The ride height is 175 millimeters, which should be enough for everyday use. However, you need to be careful when traveling over rough terrain, especially if the car is loaded. The remaining sizes of Largus allow the station wagon to be used in many areas of life.

The rear of the Lada Largus 2022 received a huge cube-shaped stern. The stern looks quite normal. There are two asymmetrical hinged doors that go deep into the bumper and lighting columns, made neatly. The specialists did not forget to equip the car with a low loading height, which makes loading/unloading luggage much easier.

A rear wiper and heated glass function are provided. The appearance of the Lada Largus has hardly changed, if you do not take into account the new off-road versions. Interestingly, the 2nd Logan MCV family has already been presented to Romanian car enthusiasts. It is worth recognizing that the appearance of a new product in the near future in Russia is unlikely.

Perhaps they will decide to update the car a little and not earlier than the end of 2018. Based on the words of the manufacturer, the car will have some attributes of the new corporate style from Lada Vesta and XRay.

There will be no new generation Lada Largus. It will be replaced by an AvtoVAZ minivan (photo)

Lada Van will be built on the basis of Renault Dokker.

AvtoVAZ has begun implementing a special investment project, within the framework of which it is planned to launch production of a car codenamed Lada Van by 2022. It is expected that the new product will be a redesign of the Dokker model from Renault.

Renault Dokker

The new product first became known at the end of last year, when the Lada Van was announced at a special closed event together with the Renaul-Nissan alliance. According to media reports, the minivan project is under active development and may even appear ahead of schedule.

It is assumed that the Lada Van will be based on the B0 platform, the interior and exterior will be completely original, and the car will receive a power frame from Dokker. In appearance, traditionally, the VAZ X-style will be used, so the front part of the new product will repeat the features of Vesta. Apparently, there will be both a cargo and a passenger version of the minivan.

Here and in the first photo above are renderings of the Lada Van. However, given AvtoVAZ’s craze for the Vesta style, the production model should not differ significantly

The range of power units will include engines from both Nissan (1.6) and AvtoVAZ (1.6 and/or 1.8). The importance of the project is also evidenced by the fact that the model will be produced on the first line of the main conveyor.

In connection with the release of the new model, the fate of Largus is interesting - with a high degree of probability, by the start of production of the Lada Van it will be discontinued, since the cars are actually of the same class and purpose.

The updated Largus will appear in a year

Let us remind you that Lada Largus is built on the basis of the Dacia Logan MCV from 2006. It has been produced by AvtoVAZ since 2012 and is consistently in the TOP 10 best-selling models. Since 2016, information about the update has appeared in the media (and even a photo with Vesta’s face), as a result, the restyled version will appear only in the first half of 2022. If the Lada Van is released in 2021-2022, then the updated Largus may likely remain in the lineup for several more years as a cheap alternative to the new minivan. We can say with confidence that we will not see a new generation of Largus.

The new generation of Dacia Logan MCV will appear in 2022. It could become the basis for the new Lada Largus. But the alliance took a different path

At the moment, the 5-seater Largus costs from 591 thousand rubles, while the Renault Dokker costs 889 thousand rubles.

Salon

The interior of the 2022 Largus is almost no different from the same Logan. The salon is ascetic and unremarkable. When viewing the dashboard and other elements, you can see existing ergonomic mistakes that were still characteristic of Logan. “Tidying” turned out to be laconic. There is a two-color on-board computer display and an instrument dial with a chrome trim.

The entire dashboard is informative and does not distract the driver from driving. The steering wheel turned out to be large and fixed on 3 spokes, and also has height adjustment. In the center there is a Lada nameplate. The number of controls on the center panel is limited. The maximum configuration has a radio that supports AUX and USB connectors .

The entry-level and mid-range versions received a simple plastic plug instead of the radio. Near the plug there are controls for the ventilation system and heating (there is an air conditioner and a stove). Between them are the keys for the electric drive of the windows installed on the front windows. There is also a rear door lock, heated rear window and hazard warning lights. The center console itself has a metal trim.

This car became the first joint project of AvtoVAZ and the French-Japanese alliance Renault-Nissan.

As for the interior upholstery of the Lada Largus, hard plastic and fabric were used in its manufacture. Seating provides only a minimum level of comfort. The seats installed in front turned out to be flat, there is lateral support, but it is minimal. But the arsenal of settings for the front seats turned out to be large.

The luxury version boasts driver lumbar support and seat height adjustment. The round air ducts of the ventilation system are edged with metallized rings. Passengers in the second and third rows will not feel discomfort due to the lack of free space. Three adult passengers will be pleased with the air ducts provided for them.

The roof does not cause depressing thoughts, but it is worth noting that getting into the 3rd row of seats is not very convenient. However, it is important not to forget that the car was created to transport goods and passengers on a budget basis. A car shouldn’t be too comfortable, but it performs its main tasks well.

Despite the cheap interior and upholstery, everything is made quite well and robustly. If there are any extra noises or squeaks from poorly fixed parts, they are not very disturbing, as in other cars of this niche.

The trunk volume of the five-seater Largus model is 560 liters. This is the best result among station wagon B-class cars officially available in Russia (as of 2014).

I would also like to say something about the trunk of the Lada Largus 7. The modification of the car with 5 passenger seats has a volume of usable space of 560 liters. If you fold the rear seats, the volume increases to 2,350 liters. It turns out that you can transport furniture, refrigerators and other large items without much difficulty.

The passenger version with seven seats has 198 liters of volume, as well as the ability to easily remove the rearmost row. This allows you to use the car as a cargo truck and have the same spacious luggage compartment. A full-size spare wheel is located under the bottom, and the tailgate can be opened in two asymmetrical parts by 180 degrees.

The Lada Largus Furgon modification has a volume of 2,500 liters and can carry 800 kilograms of cargo. The data is very impressive. There is nothing better for summer residents, gardeners and small businesses.

Practicality and comfort in every detail

LADA Largus station wagon is ready to please passengers with comfortable wide seats.

The driver's seat is equipped with height adjustment and lumbar support.

This provides a comfortable fit for the driver of almost any size.

LADA Largus is unique in that truly comfortable seats have been created for third-row passengers.

Passengers taller than average feel comfortable here.

LADA Largus is perfectly adapted to the Russian climate. Each of the three rows of seats is equipped with air ducts for heating the legs.

Specifications

Power unit

The cargo-passenger version of the Lada Largus has two naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engines. The “standard” role is played by the 1.6-liter VAZ-11189 power plant, which received a distributed injection system and an eight-valve gas distribution mechanism. All this allows the Lada Largus to produce 87 horsepower and 140 Nm.

This “engine” allows you to accelerate to a speed mark of 100 kilometers per hour in 14.4 seconds. The maximum speed does not exceed 158 kilometers per hour. The 83-horsepower engine consumes about 8.2 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers.

More expensive configurations already have a 1.6-liter VAZ-21129 engine, which received multi-point power and a sixteen-valve timing mechanism. The 16-valve Largus already produces 106 “horses” and 148 Nm. It takes 13.5 seconds to reach the first hundred, and the “maximum speed” is 165 kilometers per hour. In combined mode, the power unit requires about 7.9 liters of fuel per 100 km.

Although this station wagon was not updated externally after its release, it was always improved technically. For example, in December 2015, the car was equipped with an 87-horsepower power unit instead of the “French” Renault K7M with 84 horsepower. After August 2022, instead of the 102-horsepower Renault K4M, they began to install a Russian power plant designed for 106 horsepower (the engine was produced by the VAZ plant).

Transmission

All engines work only with a 5-speed manual gearbox. All torque is transmitted only to the front wheels.

Chassis

This vehicle is based on the front-wheel drive platform B0 of the Renault-Nissan association. There are standard McPherson struts up front and a semi-independent U-beam at the rear. The steering device has a rack-and-pinion design and is complemented by a hydraulic power steering wheel (the basic configuration does not have a hydraulic power steering).

The braking system is equipped with ventilated disc devices at the front and drum mechanisms at the rear. The electronic ABS system is not supplied only for the standard version; all other configurations already have it by default.

Safety

The Lada Largus 2022 station wagon is a modern car, so experts have not ignored the practical model in terms of safety. There is a latest generation anti-lock braking system. The power frame of the body was designed to minimize bodily injury to passengers in a collision.

All seats have three-point seat belts and head restraints. The driver and front passenger have front and side airbags. Lada Largus 2022 fully complies with current European requirements for passive safety. This is availability:

  • Driver and passenger airbags;
  • Front seat belts with force limiters;
  • The front subframe acts as an additional side member, absorbing and redistributing the energy of a frontal impact;
  • Three-point seat belts and head restraints;
  • Anti-lock braking system;
  • ISOFIX child seat mounting systems;
  • Indication of unfastened driver's seat belt;
  • Honeycomb inserts in front door panels;
  • ERA-GLONASS systems.

Seats

The front seats now have a slightly reshaped shape. We can definitely say that the new shape of the front row seats is a little more comfortable, which will be a small advantage for those who plan to spend a lot of time in the new Largus, but the back will still get tired, but in the top modifications the situation is a little better.

In rich trim levels, the front seats have acquired side supports, and their plastic part has acquired a partially glossy color. And finally, AvtoVAZ has positioned the seat adjustment elements relatively conveniently.

The rear seat can also be different and depends on the configuration. The cheap versions have a far from comfortable solid seat with a solid backrest. But more expensive versions of Largus can boast a divided rear seat, which has special niches for plastic seat belt buckles and even a heating option.

Starting with the Comfort version, the manufacturer offers the use of a third row of rear seats, which folds towards the back of the rear seats.

By the way, if necessary, you can simply remove it from the car and increase the size of the trunk.

Crash test Lada Largus

The station wagon can hardly be called a new car. For those who have already bought this car, its pros and cons are known. However, those who are just thinking about buying this model may be confused. Perhaps crash tests of Lada Largus will help get a more objective picture.

Like all vehicles, the Lada Largus station wagon underwent mandatory crash tests. During a side test, a special trolley crashed into the car at a speed of 50 kilometers per hour. The car performed quite well in such a test. Due to the damage, the car doors could not open.

The dummy, which was inside the car at the time of the study, received damage to the head 8 times lower than allowed. If we talk about pelvic injuries, then here too Largus copes with the assigned tasks, meeting these standards threefold. If we talk about damage to the car after being hit from behind, then Largus did not disappoint here either, since it provides excellent protection against unnecessary injuries.

During the impact with the movable barrier at a speed of 36 kilometers per hour, the interior remained intact and the seats were secured. It is also interesting that the side windows, along with the glass of the rear trunk door, were not damaged. The fuel tank is perfectly protected by the spare tire and suspension parts. That is why during a crash test it remains unharmed.

Tests of the Lada Largus station wagon have shown that the car meets all legal safety requirements. Crash tests were carried out under more difficult conditions. The established rules for a frontal collision indicate an impact at a speed of 56 kilometers per hour, and the VAZ was tested at a speed limit of 64 km/h, which is 8 kilometers per hour more than the norm.

After the tests, the car received 8.32 points out of 10 possible, which is an excellent result, comparable to the Logan MCV, which received 8 points in 2005. It turns out that you can and even need to buy a Lada Largus station wagon.

I decided to compare Largus with the vans that I had and what came of it...

Hi all! Sorry that I’m writing again in the bortovik, it seems like there is such a topic for comparison. It’s just that my test turned out to be extensive, and the on-board test is somehow more convenient for me. Please don't kick too hard

In general, again, at the request of radio viewers and television listeners, I decided to compare the cars that I already had (28 in total) with Largus. Only cars in a similar price category will be subject to comparison, i.e. those that can be taken as an alternative to Largus, but used. and only those that he touched himself. So let's get started, the MMC Chariot Grandis (N84W body), MMC Grandis (narrow-eyed), Ford Galaxy (II) and S-Max have received approvals for comparison. I will briefly discuss a few others separately. MMC Chariot Grandis (aka Space Wagon, left-hand drive, in the same body). I had a device, produced in 2002, almost at maximum speed, white mother-of-pearl color. Imported to order from Japan from auction.

On the plus side , there are a lot of bells and whistles in the factory configuration: two air conditioners (the second for the second and third rows), a rear camera and parking sensors all around, everything electric (mirrors, glass), climate control, standard xenon with a corrector, and whatnot. then, I don’t remember anymore. Quite spacious interior, normal appearance (many Japanese come from the factory with a body kit). Fuel consumption on highway 8, in the city 12-13 liters. The third row, although similar to the Largusovsky in the luxury (in essence), can be moved along the trunk, thus either reducing the trunk and increasing legroom for passengers, or vice versa. All seats have backrest adjustment, even in the third row.

The most important thing is the disadvantages: 1. The second row of seats is cut in half, in a proportion of 50x50. Which is terribly inconvenient for all of us. When someone wants to tilt or raise the backrest, the person sitting in the middle has to hang in the air with one side of the body... To be fair, each of the halves can move back and forth around the cabin. In my opinion, the left-hand drive version has a solid seat. 2. GDI engine - at one time it was presented as a super new and mega-technological unit. Type to save fuel and improve driving performance. In fact, his 161 mares are probably also from Japan, or from somewhere in Asia, very small and unwilling to travel, yet designed for 98 gasoline and guzzling it with pleasure. In addition, GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection - direct fuel injection) implies the presence of a fuel injection pump - which is very critical to the quality of the fuel. In GDI, the engine runs on a very lean mixture, which leads to relatively frequent coking of the engine, and you have to periodically clean it (at a service station, which is not cheap), or regularly go to the highway once a week and give the country coal... (I have no problems with this was) 3. The cost of spare parts at that time was not exactly cheap. And now, probably, too, I haven’t watched it, to be honest. 4. Delicate automatic transmission (applies to right-handed options). 5. There is a little more space in the cabin than in Largus - in the front and on the second row, in the third - in Largus there will be even more. Plus, Largus has windows. The summary is this - if you don’t take into account the location of the steering wheel, then look at the Space Wagon (left-hand drive) with a 2L engine (the good old 4G63) and a manual. The most hassle-free option. For this price (350-400 thousand), until recently it was possible to take a Largus norm of 5 seats. Now I don’t know anymore. Considering that its production stopped in 2004, the chance to take a live device is equal to the chance to buy a new Largus at the cost of a 2012 MMC Grandis (snake-eyed)

I liked this car a lot, and I still like it too. But, again, there are no cars without nuances. The background to his purchase is this: for the money, he was a very good value for me. In terms of price/year/quality/bells and whistles – too. The base mass of the Grandis is 7 places. Having looked, we realized that in the second row there was no room at all for legs, even less than in Largus (my wife couldn’t even sit behind me, or rather she could, but the lumbar support worked for me). And we switched to other cars (Toyota Sienna, Dodge\Chrysler Caravan\Voyager). There was nothing interesting there in terms of its condition, and once again returning to Mitsu I decided to look at the 6-seater version. And here, oddly enough, there was very little legroom (though who knew that Nikitos would explode upward during the time he owned this device). But the 6-seater also has disadvantages, which are discussed below. After realizing that 6 seats was suitable for us, a device was found and purchased in very decent condition, at almost maximum speed and at a normal price. So, the advantages: 1. A regular 16 valve engine, which is the funny thing, with the same consumption as the GDI in the city - 12-13 liters, but on the highway more - 10 liters, versus 8 for the GDI. 2. Comfortable, soft suspension. Driving is a pleasure. Good cross-country ability (well, not a jeep, of course, but I climbed in such places that it was scary). 3. Good transformation of the interior, especially the trunk (3rd row of seats). Each of the two seats in the 3rd row can be removed into the floor, in its place a recess is formed where you can stuff a lot of things. If you fold the third row, you get a flat floor. The second row can be moved close to the front ones. In general, the transformation of the third row (and the interior in general) at Grandis is in second place for me after the Galaxy\S-Max.

4. My configuration includes two hatches (although this is also a minus, see below).

5. High-quality leather/possibility (with heated front seats), climate control, everything is electric, etc. 6. Two stoves\two air conditioners (the second for the second row and gallery) Cons: 1. The main one, in fact, is why it was sold - the presence of two hatches if there are more than two people in the family taller than 180. The hatches eat up three centimeters above the head, if not more. Actually, I described this in a note about a trip to Bulgaria. It turns out that in the 6-seat configuration there is more legroom and less headroom. The actual cost of spare parts remained at the “level” of Mitsubishi, so to speak.. True, there are a lot of substitutes. In terms of prices, it turned out to be even slightly cheaper than the first Grandis. 3. The suspension is said to be delicate in terms of maintainability. I don't know, I didn't notice. The only thing is that almost before the sale I changed the rods, they were worn out like trash. That's all. But their cost... see point 2 4. There are no radios to replace them in a regular place. It is not quite a standard form and the bookmaker is tied to it. Even the Chinese have problems (this model was also produced in China for the domestic market). 5. Driver's wiper - 71 cm. Not available in all stores. In general, if you are up to 175 cm tall, the Grandis will be a good device, I looked at the specialist; at the beginning of March, for the money of the new Largus in the deluxe, you can get a relatively lively Grandis, 2006-2008. If it weren’t for Nikitos, maybe I would have ridden it like that. Next after Grandis I had a Ford Galaxy II . The model has been produced since 2006, in 2010 there seemed to be a slight restyling, it is still sold new, but the price tag - from 1,300,000 seems to be... nutty. To be honest, it’s not entirely correct to compare Largus and Galaxy, or rather it’s not at all correct, the cars are completely different classes. It's like ZAZ and Chaika in Soviet times. Now the details.

I had a Galaxy diesel, 2 liters. Dieseluk Pezhoshnaya, 141 hp. , 340 (!!!) Nm... 340!!!! The power and stupidity of this engine killed me on the spot every time I just drove. If you’re traveling alone or if you’re jam-packed, you don’t really want to – it feels like it’s purple. The same confident acceleration (you really need to brake more carefully), practically the same fuel consumption (city 8, highway - my record is 5.4, average 5.7-6.3, and this is with an empty weight of 1750 kg, if I remember correctly memory). In general, not a car, but an airplane. But these are emotions. Now let's move on to the facts in the form of pros and cons. And here I will first describe the disadvantages, and only then the pros. So the minuses: 1. The first minus is precisely its plus. This is actually the diesel itself. Here is the CommonRail system. This is many times better than the earlier pump injector system installed on the Galaxy I and also the VW Sharan. But, nevertheless, it is good until it breaks; repairing the system (not the engine, this one is practically “eternal”) can cost a very substantial amount. The experience I had on the last S-Max before Largus showed that you can easily go for 60 thousand rubles simply by cleaning the system and carrying out a preventive overhaul of the fuel injection pump. 2. In continuation of point 1, I want to say that since the engine is turbocharged, the requirements for oils, and especially fuel filters, are increased. The filter is only original. I also encountered a non-original one. As a result, it may cost you more (see the end of point 1) Maintenance interval – 10,000 km. 3. On diesel engines with manual transmission, the dual-mass clutch flywheel is a huge minus. Which often leads (Ford, you see, took care of consumers to make it comfortable to start, while complicating the design). This problem can arise after 100 thousand kilometers in a metropolis. Replacing a clutch kit (if you're going in there, it's better to change everything at once so you don't have to climb twice) consisting of: flywheel, basket, clutch disc, hydraulic release, and also all sorts of oil seals along the way, comes out to an amount of more than 45 thousand rubles at pre-crisis prices prices. The flywheel alone cost 25 thousand. It’s easier to shoot yourself (Although I later learned that not only Ford began to dabble in dual-mass flywheels... and not only on diesel engines) 4. Complete absence of a spare wheel as such, complete!!! The repair kit consists of a pump and a can of sealant; take it to a tire shop. There’s not even a provision for additional equipment (they say that after 12 years they seem to have returned the additional equipment for the Russian Federation, I don’t know, I haven’t checked). That's why people buy spare parts from the Volvo S80 and carry it with them, some in the trunk, some on the side of the roof, some hiding behind the second row seats. There are many threads on this topic on the forums. 4. I didn’t find any more minuses, look at the rest in the pros. Pros: 1. Well, actually, the very first minus is the very first and bold plus. I described this in the preface to the model. Both consumption and high-torque. Everything is great. 2. The interior is transformable, as it is fashionably described in outbid advertisements - a complete transformer. All 7 seats are adjustable and tilt separately from each other. The last two rows fold into a flat floor. Absolutely flat, from the tailgate to the first row. And it's great!

3. Third row, two separate seats that can move back and forth and have an adjustable backrest. The vents are the same as on Largus 4. Under the feet of the second row there are niches in the floor where you can put a bunch of different junk. Plus the same niche in the trunk behind the seats. 5. Half of the trim levels have an overhead console that extends (I can’t find another word for it) from the trunk to the windshield. It has four opening drawers, an eyeglass case and two or three interior lights. I don't remember anymore. 6. A bunch of cup holders, containers, etc. 7. Heated windshield in the base. Moreover, if the temperature outside drops below zero, when you start the car, the heating turns on automatically. And on the windshield, and on the rear, and on the mirrors. 8. Dual-zone climate control in the base (with the exception of vegetable trim levels with a 1.8 diesel engine, there is just an air conditioner). Moreover, air is supplied to the second row both from below into the legs and on the side in the central pillars there are air ducts. Super. 9. All trim levels have radio controls on the steering wheel. 10. Half of the base models have heated front seats, some also have ventilation. The main engines on the Galaxy: - 2.0 petrol, chain, manual only. It drives fine. In the city he eats an average of 11-13 liters. — 2.3 gasoline — automatic transmission (6-speed, Japanese Aisin, adaptive). Convenient - yes, eats around the city 12-14. It often kicks when shifting 1-2, the automatic transmission is very compact, does not cool very well, the channels are tiny, due to the operating algorithm, the clutches quickly wear out and wear products clog the channels. Officially, the oil does not change throughout its service life (ha ha ha). But if you initially change the oil in it every 60 thousand, it will last happily ever after. — 1.8 diesel. I won’t say for sure, but in my opinion this engine is not CommonRail. There are people on the forums who drive them, but, as a rule, the configurations on them are poorer, and in terms of repairs, this engine will be more expensive (namely repairs, not routine maintenance). Happens only on mechanics. According to the owners, it goes, but of course it doesn’t reach the two-room mark. (PS. clarification dated April 20 - it seems to be a CR engine, but it differs in the power supply system (it seems like Delphi and Bosch were installed on Ford diesel engines, on 2.0 Delphi), and one more thing, it turns out there are configurations with 1.8 and not completely poor , even with the climate, but there seem to be no maximum temperatures with it.). — And finally, 2.0 diesel. The pros and cons are described above. It happens with both automatic and manual transmissions. I had both options. On the mechanics it drives super. Feelings at the beginning of the description. With automatic transmission – it costs the same Aisin as on 2.3. The algorithm is just different. But... In the city it eats around 11. Which really upset me. Maybe when the engine is new, it runs around 9-10. But for the price of the new Largus, the devices have already been used and there will be no such expense. My summary: The Galaxy device is amazing. In my rating, the car (out of the 29 that I had) is in first place. But I was very, very lucky with my copy. Thank God that I was able to take it then. The new owner has already won half a mile on it in two years and is happy as an elephant. And my master, before purchasing, told me that a better device could not be found, even more expensive. What is now being sold for the money of a new Largus is mostly already worn-out devices. Of course, sometimes something worthwhile for reasonable money flashes by, but it goes away in an instant. And often, unfortunately, to outbid. And if you are suddenly offered a Galaxy of the Year 2008 with a mileage of up to 150 thousand km (real) and with one owner - take it without hesitation. This machine will not disappoint you. But they are one in a million. That's why you are here, on this forum, and not on the S-Max\Galaxy forum. After the Galaxy, I had two S-Maxes – 2.3 petrol and 2.0 diesel, both with automatic transmission.

The differences between the S-Max and the Galaxy start from the second row. The Galaxy has a straight roof, while the Max has a flat roof. Due to this, it looks more interesting, sportier or something. There is exactly the same amount of space in the cabin as in the Galaxy, except for the gallery. The third row in the Max is frankly flawed. Even my Danka had little space there, and in order for him to sit normally, I had to move the second row seat closer to the first. But people on the forums install seats from the Galaxy and enjoy it, because the legroom becomes like in the Galaxy. This does not interfere with folding. Below is a comparison of the Max and Galaxy seats installed in the Max. To be honest, I would only take the five-seater S-Max. Awesome trunk and excellent comfort for five passengers. There are also configurations with a retractable trunk floor, a very convenient feature. I would also like to briefly dwell on the following machines (I won’t focus on right-handed ones, there is so much of everything that there is not enough time or effort to describe them...) that I managed to touch. 1. Kia Carnival - both diesel and gasoline available. Both automatic transmission and manual. Having caught fire, I touched it, but was not impressed. No way. Some people like them, but I don’t really like them anymore. Transformation of the interior at the VW Sharan level. Consumption is clearly more. And reliability, they say, is not very good.

2. Chrysler Grand Voyajer \ Dodge Grand Caravan - I don’t know about anyone, but for me they no longer exist. Maybe the cars are not bad, but: they eat a lot, it’s uncomfortable to sit, the quality of the plastic is at the level of a VAZ 2106. Not impressed. I didn’t even consider cars without the Grand prefix anymore.

3. Toyota Sienna - for the money of Largus you can only buy either the first generation (until 2003), or the 2003, 2004 second generation. With mileage far beyond... Very comfortable, pretty (second generation), everything you need is there. But...: it eats a lot, the mileage is crazy, the interiors are shabby. If Sienna, then closer to 2010, but that’s another story, and money...

4. Hyundai Grand Starex (which is N-1) . Large, spacious interior, quite comfortable. Diesel engine, 90% of cars with automatic transmission. But there are no survivors for Largus money, mostly cargo ones. Yes, and there is a problem with diesel engines brought from Korea, with some not very high mileage, either the liners turn, or some other similar problem, and the engines need replacement, or expensive repairs. For some reason, I’m not at all surprised by this, because when I had a Hyundai NF, I was specifically looking for one with a two-liter engine, since it has a chain engine. It turned out that according to Hyundai regulations, the chain is changed after a mileage of 120 thousand km, and the cost of replacement, in the club service with discounts, was around 40 thousand. For right-handers, with a mileage of 250, only the tensioner was changed. Just like that.

5. VW Sharan – I looked, but not for long. I don’t like it purely externally and internally. Although it also has its advantages. 6. I almost forgot Mazda MPV

I wanted to, looked/touched. I didn’t like it, although a guy at my work took it and was happy with it. What I liked is that there are two seats in the second row, but the right one moves to the side if you need to go to the gallery. That's all. For me. Of the minuses - it eats a lot, the third row is completely uncomfortable, the interior is simple. Did not impress. 7. I almost forgot 2 Citroen C4 Grand Picasso

I also looked closely for a long time, I wanted to, but: 1. On 1.6 diesel engines there is a robot that needs permanent adjustment. Hydraulics are only available for the 2.0 diesel (the combination is almost the same as for the Galaxy), which is practically not delivered to us due to the prohibitive prices for customs clearance. I didn't even consider gasoline. 2.

Despite these normal dimensions, there was very little room in it for my family: I rest my head on the visor (the visors are tricky, they can be moved up and more glass space above the head is added, but personally the visor rests almost immediately on my forehead). Nikitos in the first row could not attach his long limbs; in the second row he was not much better. Danka, as a gallery lover, was completely stuck in the third row. My legs were stuck under the second row of seats. 3. A lot of whims on the part of electronics. And for a reasonable price there are a lot of different cute things, and it’s relatively cute. Here is a brief description/comparison of the machines. If someone finds it useful, I will be glad. And another short summary: I sometimes look at advertisements for the sale of minivans, sometimes even right-handed ones. Sometimes you come across examples that are not bad, but... When you start to analyze that the car is used, you don’t know who used it and how it was used before you, where and how it drove and what troubles it was in. And if God forbid it breaks, how much could all this cost. And every time I praise myself for taking Largus. Yes, it is not without its shortcomings, but... it is new, under warranty, spacious, and most importantly, it performs its functions 100%. Here recently on the Ford Drivers forum they asked me: “Well, how is Largus after Ford?” I answered everything honestly, and then my old master, described in this article, inserted his 5 kopecks (Quote) such a cart came to us (he calls all the cars, except for the old-school Americans, rem. banich), and I took a closer look at it (I already had a lot of positive feedback from my respected friends). I confirm: a rare example of a car worth every penny of its price, and generally made solely in the concept of practicality. Yes, this is, of course, a Spartan device, but if, for example, you take the new Focus Ambient 1.6 with a handle - and people buy them! - and Largus, then the cost of the “social marketing” component of the modern automobile industry becomes obvious. Because the focus is not better than ANYTHING (but much worse), it just costs differently...” (c) So let’s draw conclusions, gentlemen... Rough roads to everyone and fewer abbreviations on them

Restyled Lada Largus: how does it drive with the new eight-valve engine?

I had to try the restyled Lada Largus station wagon on the Black Sea coast only in the Cross version - with rich configurations and 106-horsepower engines. But I also drove a little in a regular Largus with a new VAZ eight-valve engine. Such a small circle through the streets of Gelendzhik for me is such a big leap for AVTOVAZ.

Finally, Largus, as the French from the Alliance pronounce this name, threw off the boring utilitarian mask of the first Logan and showed the cute X-face of the bygone era of Steve Mattin. The new headlights have separate low and high beam lamps, a light sensor and integrated daytime running lights. The hood has become a little higher and has lost the windshield washer nozzles; they are now located on a plastic trim under its edge - this is better from the point of view of aerodynamics and frost protection. Exterior mirrors are from Vesta. They are more interesting in shape, and thanks to the new bracket and profile, short drivers can now see the entire right sector.

Improved noise insulation (56 body seats have been modified) can be assessed even without starting the engine - by the dull sound with which the doors close. You can now communicate with front passengers from the rear sofa without raising your voice, and all secondary noise from the road and wind has faded into the background.

And the salon, the salon! In the instrument cluster with red scales and silver edging, Vesta’s genes are also felt - and it now has a full-fledged trip computer. True, the French microclimate control unit is already a hundred years old, and in total 165 parts were borrowed from Alliance cars. But the window controls are finally on the doors, and the new seats with a longer cushion and developed side bolsters are better molded.

Under the hood there may be either the familiar 106-horsepower 16-valve VAZ-21129, or an engine with the index VAZ-11182 with eight valves, which can also be called in the French manner: “moteur-a-uit-supap”. After all, its gas distribution mechanism uses valve pushers and valve stem seals from the Renault K7M engine. Although in total only six parts have been unified with the Alliance, including connecting rod bearings, plugs and thrust washers, the unit has already been assigned a new international designation AR16SEg2 EVO.

Sixteen-valve 106-horsepower engine VAZ-21129

And this is an event. Changing the base VAZ engine!

With the previous VAZ-11189 engine, it is only related to the working volume (1596 cm³) and eight-valve gas distribution. Its own cylinder head with modified exhaust ports, a different combustion chamber and cooling jacket. The camshaft has a reduced cam width. And the main external difference is a higher valve cover without a hump, with six bolts and with a crankcase ventilation pipe docked near the first cylinder.

The new eight-valve engine is not particularly impressive in its absolute performance. But the shift in traction accents is incredibly pleasing

The compression ratio has been increased from 10.3:1 to 10.5:1. There are only four counterweights on the crankshaft, the diameter of the connecting rod journals and the length of the connecting rods have become smaller, the pistons are borrowed from the VAZ 1.8 engine, and compared to the previous ones they received a modified combustion chamber and an enlarged fire zone. The throttle diameter has decreased, as has the spark plug thread diameter (M12 instead of M14). The modified design of the oil separator in the crankcase gas recirculation system and the new shape of the valve stem seals put the engine on a strict oil diet - operating costs and waste should be lower.

In fact, it turned out to be a new engine with its own characteristics: 90 hp. instead of 87 forces and a torque of 143 Nm instead of 140 Nm. Not God knows what indicators, but already at 1000 rpm, not 103 Nm, as before, but 112 Nm are available - that is, 80 percent of the maximum thrust. By the way, the idle speed has been reduced from 850 to 750 rpm.

Also, the hated “zero” maintenance was excluded from the list of routine maintenance for the new engine, and the clearances in the valve mechanism can be adjusted once every 90 thousand kilometers. And the total engine resource is now 200 thousand kilometers instead of the previous 160 thousand.

The multimedia “head” is made according to the “all-inclusive” principle. The only complaint is the inconvenient button volume control

In general, AVTOVAZ promises savings of 4,900 rubles for the first 20 thousand kilometers - 2,900 rubles on “ninety-second” gasoline and another two thousand on maintenance. In addition, Ladas with a new eight-valve engine may in the future meet Euro-6 standards. Apparently, this is why the Alliance approved the modernization - Renault is considering using this engine on the basic version of the new Logan. Although first he must appear on Grant.

Why was the proletarian Largus the first to receive such an important new thing? I think it’s about insurance in case of possible childhood illnesses. After all, even for this presentation, the eight-valve Largus was brought only in the guise of a utilitarian van - which has now become more expensive, starting from 700 thousand rubles.

The new engine is unexpectedly torquey and has a clear and flexible character - it can easily be cranked up to maximum speed in all gears and allows you to move away confidently, simply by releasing the clutch pedal. True, AVTOVAZ installs the French JR5 gearbox and final drive with an agricultural ratio of 4.9 on such vans! Whereas for station wagons with a new engine, a main pair of 3.9 is provided - which, I think, will noticeably change the impressions of the engine.

It’s a pity that we didn’t bring such cars for the driving test. Therefore, most of the time I rode a rich Largus Cross with a 16-valve 106-horsepower VAZ-21129 engine.

The trunk is good not so much in size as in shape: a lot fits into the “square” compartment without protruding parts

This high-spirited engine spins well, but completely refuses to accelerate a heavy car from low revs - driving along the mountain serpentines between Anapa and Novorossiysk with two passengers on board was reminiscent of stretching rubber. All overtaking is “clanging” and at random. The optional cruise control on such a car looks like a caricature - without a traction reserve it is of no use. In the exhausting Krasnodar traffic jams, the “torsional” Cross is also unbearable. To get going, you had to throw the tachometer needle up to 2000 rpm, fire the clutch and move in first or, at best, second gear - otherwise it was simply impossible to stay in the flow. What happens if you put five people in the cabin? By the way, a 16-valve van is much more flexible in such conditions, because the truck has a different main gear ratio: 4.2 versus “passenger” 3.9.

In general, I don't see the point in overpaying for sixteen valves. And the amount of 705 thousand rubles, which after restyling is asked for a basic eight-valve station wagon, seems to be a fair price for improvements.

As before, the Largus has hinged doors at the back that can open 180 degrees.

The list of standard equipment for such a car, however, is still not extensive - a key with a switch blade, central locking with radio control and daytime running lights. The base doesn't even have air conditioning. But for an additional fee - a multimedia system with a bright screen, navigation and support for Apple CarPlay / Android Auto, a rain and light sensor, a steering wheel with “buttons”, parking sensors, a rear view camera, electric heating of the windshield, second row sofa and steering wheel, additional sockets, USB -connectors and cruise control.

The minimum price for a seven-seater car is 832 thousand rubles, and the price of a rich Largus can reach almost a million! Especially if it’s a smart Cross with increased ground clearance and 16-inch tires, which is another 40 thousand more expensive.

And even in this form, Largus will not have an automatic transmission or stabilization system. Marketers refer to data from surveys of potential buyers (they say that active safety is still not held in high esteem) and to sales results: “manual” Largus are still selling like pie, 50 thousand cars a year.

But if I had participated in those surveys, I would have asked the plant to quickly launch the eight-valve Largus Cross, with a gearbox and main gear from a van. Or at least with a gear ratio close to it. Judging by the characteristics, such a car will not be much slower than the 16-valve one (14.3 s to 100 km/h), but it will be much more convenient in life.

Tuning

The Lada Largus turned out to be a practical model and from the start of sales it became a great success among car owners. The car has good build quality, but the appearance is not the best. The domestic car gave priority to rigor and practicality in favor of a stylish design. Therefore, many Lada Largus car owners will decide to improve their appearance using tuning.

Improving the power unit

When considering options for tuning a Lada Largus car, it is first advised to concentrate on the technical part. Special attention should be paid to the power unit. The “engine” can develop from 84 to 102 “horses”, depending on what design solutions are used in this car.

For daily trips in an urban environment, the engine power is enough, especially if you have a family. But there are many Lada Largus owners who are not satisfied with the capabilities of their engine. Therefore, there are 2 ways to improve the power of your power plant:

  • Perform chip tuning on the electronic control module, followed by changing the settings;
  • To carry out modifications to the motor in the mechanical part, which involves productive intervention with the task - to replace the elements with similar components of a more reinforced plan.

If we talk about the first method - chip tuning, then it is quite common and is popular with many car owners. The purpose of the improvement is to change the ECU settings. As a result, it is possible to achieve engine adjustments. If you correctly calibrate certain parameters, you can expect a worthy reward - an increase in power.

Chip tuning is best done in specialized workshops. They can reprogram the standard firmware version to a different one. As a result:

  • The fuel “appetite” decreases;
  • Toxic emissions are reduced;
  • Dynamic performance increases.

You can also resort to mechanical transformations of the power plant. This implies a significant improvement in performance (plus about 10-40 percent to the basic parameters). Such transformations are carried out by replacing some elements in the motor. This may include:

  • Fuel supply system;
  • Timing elements;
  • Injection components;
  • Elements of the cylinder-piston group and the block head.

It is important to note that parts must be replaced only with similar ones that are structurally compatible with the given engine.

Improvement of Largus body

If the owner of a Lada is not delighted with the appearance of the body, then you can transform the exterior of your “swallow”. Many people at this moment are inclined towards two options:

  • Carry out structural modernization of body components;
  • Make cosmetic improvements.

The first option involves replacing some body parts with newer ones. Often such elements receive an individual design. It is important that if you qualitatively and skillfully transform the exterior of the Lada Largus, you can improve its aerodynamics. Some drivers decide to:

  • Installation of a spoiler;
  • Installation of body kit on the hood;
  • Replacement of front and rear optics with more modern ones;
  • Installation of various reinforcing elements (front radiator grille, protective linings, skirts, etc.);
  • Installation of newer “skating rinks”;
  • Replacement of bumpers, external mirrors and other things.

Of course, such manipulations require the allocation of considerable funds and free time, but the result will please the owner for a long time. Simpler tuning includes cosmetic improvements to the exterior. Can:

  • Renew body paint;
  • Tint the windows;
  • Make airbrushed designs on body panels;
  • Glue the body with different polymer materials (carbon, vinyl, and so on);
  • Use additional LED lighting sources.

Interior tuning

This may include:

  • Replacing covers with new ones, with a more interesting design, or installing new seats instead of basic chairs;
  • Covering panels with fresher materials;
  • Replacing the “steering wheel” with similar options with a sporty twist;
  • Installation of the armrest;
  • Replacing door handles with similar ones with their own lighting;
  • Application of noise insulation.

You can also install speakers, a subwoofer, a TV, etc., which increases the level of comfort. The improvement can also affect the suspension, through the use of reinforced parts, increasing or decreasing ground clearance, installing shock absorbers and stabilizers with increased data, etc.

Lada Largus is not all galvanized, but only some body elements

The following two tabs change content below.

  • About the expert:

Frets Expert

An expert on Lada cars with many years of experience. I own a Lada Granta car, I collect cramps based on the Priora. Sometimes I stay overnight in the garage. My wife is more jealous of cars than of women.

All possibilities for applying galvanization at AvtoVAZ come down to two: buy galvanized steel or apply zinc using the “cold” method. In the second case, the coating is applied from a spray bottle. The galvanic method is not used at AvtoVAZ, and even more so, the enterprise does not have baths with molten zinc.

All Largus family cars have the following parts galvanized on both sides:

  1. front wings,
  2. roof,
  3. external door panels,
  4. hood.

Proof of the galvanization of these body parts by the factory is shown in the photo.

The roof, or rather, many roofs

Left rear door (outer panel)

Doors for station wagon body

Are the thresholds galvanized?

The thresholds are also galvanized on the outside, and each seam remaining after welding is treated in the same way. Although the bottom is not galvanized, it is treated with a primer. And it, in turn, is applied using the galvanic method.

Comparison with competitors

Although the Russian model Lada Largus 2022 does not have a huge number of rivals in its class, they still exist. The model will compete for the attention of consumers with Peugeot Partner, Citroen Berlingo, Renault Kangoo, and Volkswagen Caddy.

If we speak for Renault and Citroen, they received 460 liters more luggage space, so they remain in a significant lead. However, they do not have such a high load capacity. The Renault version has 3,000 liters of usable space including the rear seats folded, which is also quite a lot.

The load capacity is higher than that of Citroen and Peugeot, but the interior transformation options are clearly inferior. As for the German version of Volkswagen, it does not have an abundance of interior transformation options, but the trunk volume is 200 liters higher than its closest rivals. Despite the fact that the power plant is as economical as the French versions, the engine develops 20 “horses” more.

In terms of carrying capacity, the model is slightly inferior to the Lada, but the Caddy is the strongest, most spacious, equipped and diverse. Volkswagen even has versions with an all-wheel drive system. There was also a full-fledged crossover modification of the Cross Caddy.

Asceticism

Largus's main and most obvious drawback is his deliberate asceticism. The interior has not changed a bit since the first generation Renault Logan. The list of options contains only the necessary minimum, although today more and more buyers want to see some extras in it, such as additional heating, advanced multimedia, and electronic assistants. Largus is only able to offer heated front seats, a single-din radio, ABS and rear parking sensors. There are only two airbags, the air conditioning is manually controlled.

From the outside, the Lada Largus looks more like a slightly improved truck than a civilian passenger car. The situation is partially saved by the body kit of the Cross version. The long-promised automated transmission also never appeared, as did the 1.8 engine. Commercial versions have no use for them, but many people buy Largus as a family station wagon and drive it to work every day. There are also plenty of mistakes in terms of ergonomics. If AVTOVAZ had corrected at least some of these problems, the popularity of the car would have immediately increased. Let's see what the upcoming restyling will bring to Largus.

By the way, Largus also serves in the editorial office of ZR.
You can use it, as well as any other editorial car in our

.
This car has long been an ideal solution for those people who need an inexpensive car with large capacity. Indeed, Lada Largus is able to cope well with the transportation of both people and cargo. Of course, this is not the most comfortable car, but obviously not the worst.

By releasing a restyling model, the designers will try to correct various minor flaws to make the car even better. The new model will be more reliable, convenient and safe. At the same time, the price of Lada Largus 2022 will be the same as its predecessor.

Reviews from Lada Largus owners

Overall, I am completely satisfied with the machine and it justified itself 200%. The car is used for traveling, transporting various goods for the dacha, garage, and also as a reliable carriage.

When running over long distances (800 - 1,200 km), it does not hurt your back, and you can continue to do other things. I drive a 95 + stitched “brains” and a 16-valve engine, everything is smooth, I think it’s not enough for such a body. You have to travel a lot (50-60 thousand per year). Often with a car full of passengers. I am pleased with the car for its inexpensive operation, reliability, options, spaciousness, and versatility. For me, this is the best budget option.

On a winter and slippery track, the Lada Largus behaves very predictably, confidently and obediently, it seems that even intentionally it is not possible to cause it to skid. Therefore, winter operation gives an extremely positive impression; even in extremely bad weather conditions, you are 110% confident in the car.

I took Lada Largus for work. The mileage is great, in 2.5 years I have covered 220,000 km. During this time, I changed the wheel bearings, ball bearings and starter three times. For such a mileage the performance is very good. Overall I'm happy with the car. A good workhorse for very little money. I don’t really want to load it to the dacha, although they write on the forum that the rear axle is rather weak, so far everything is normal.

Owner reviews

Based on reviews from Lada Largus owners, we can conclude that many drivers are happy with their car. The advantages of the model include good spaciousness, acceptable ride height, seven-seater option, low cost, reliability and spacious luggage compartment. The exception is versions with seven seats, where there is almost no space left for luggage.

I'm glad that there are roof rails for transporting various large cargo. Owners of Lada Largus note the convenience of rear hinged doors. The rear row of seats can be folded down. If necessary, you can even spend the night on it. There are massive external mirrors, which, unfortunately, do not have electric adjustment. The gearbox engages perfectly, smoothly and without jerking.

The lack of an on-board computer is a little frustrating, as there is a lack of useful information about this vehicle. The disadvantages include poor-quality assembly, an abundance of defects, imperfections, high fuel consumption, large dimensions and an equally large turning angle, a heater, low dynamics, a weak power unit and ergonomics.

The quality of the plastic leaves much to be desired. Handling and ride quality suffer. Owners of the Lada Largus station wagon do not like the low sound insulation, hard suspension and expensive maintenance.

Let's take a look below...

Mileage is about 22 thousand km. Now is the opportunity and time to look under the car. I noticed an oil leak in the rear of the engine between the sump and the cylinder block.

The CV joint boots are still intact. The rest of the car's suspension parts do not cause any complaints. In addition, I removed the protective box from the multivalve. There is no question of its tightness. The plastic box apparently protects the multivalve only from mechanical damage. There is rust on the flow line valve from the stopper. I think it won’t hurt to “spill” everything with VD later.

What kind of beast is a multivalve and where does it live?
Bystrov May 21, 2014 at 06:05 0
I have gas. The multivalve is located on the gas cylinder.

Damn, what kind of grid should I install to be calm???

It's OK. The mesh is designed to protect the radiator from damage from stones, etc., and as a bonus, from “large” insects. The radiator will clog anyway (on any car where it is present) if it is blown with air. So sometimes it still needs to be cleaned...

Yes, something like this :)

Without an additional mesh, my radiator was pretty crushed by stones; the factory mesh lets a lot of medium and small stones through. As soon as I get my hands on it, I’ll definitely install a smaller mesh and I recommend it to everyone who hasn’t done it yet.

Hmmm...22000 and already the suspension bushings and rubber bands need to be changed, the oil is leaking, etc. - so this cannot be fixed/changed under warranty? As for the mesh: of course, I installed it almost immediately after I bought the car, but I became interested in how it was done on other brands - imagine my surprise when I didn’t see a fine mesh on many expensive jeeps - take a closer look for yourself - in large hyper parking lots, in courtyards etc. where such cars are parked and you will also be surprised - there are only large nets on the radiators and that’s it! (not on all of them, of course, but on many) - there’s already a radiator behind them - how to explain this?))

The warranty is a tricky matter. I have an LPG installed, at best the engine warranty does not apply, at worst the warranty for the entire car is lost (the logic of the majority of official dealers). However, I’ll try to go and talk and see what they say.

On the Logan, I change the stabilizer rubber bands every year (it crushes), if you don’t change it in time, the bolt in the lever severely breaks the hole. And the silent blocks have been in the same form for several years now, and nothing.

Cons of the car

  • Weak power unit;
  • Low dynamics;
  • Increased fuel consumption;
  • Large dimensions and turning radius;
  • Poor quality assembly;
  • Cheap interior finishing materials;
  • Low level of comfort;
  • Stiff suspension.

Let's sum it up

In conclusion, I would like to say that the union of the domestic automobile company with foreign companies had a positive impact. Initially, I would like to note the fresh appearance and rich functionality. In addition, Lada Largus stands out for its spacious interior and large luggage compartment. The interior is not as comfortable as its European competitors, but the price tag for this station wagon is also slightly lower.

The engine power is not always enough, so you often have to turn it, which entails an increase in fuel consumption. Sound insulation is mediocre. The quality of the plastic used inside the car is low. The suspension is stiff and the turning angle is very large. There are various modifications to choose from, including a seven-seat version.

The safety was a pleasant surprise, so this car can be safely recommended not only to summer residents, but also to family people. Therefore, if you need an inexpensive, simple, functional, roomy and unpretentious car, the Lada Largus is perfect.

Tests

LADA Largus cars have been tested in real Russian conditions. During intensive testing, strict AVTOVAZ methods were used: mileage tests in various climatic zones, races at maximum speed, trips on a special cobblestone track, laboratory, road, and impact tests. The main conclusion is confirmation of the high reliability of the car.

Crash tests have shown: LADA Largus fully complies with current European requirements for passive safety.

According to the results of road tests, the car demonstrated excellent handling, stability and a fairly high level of cross-country ability. Large ground clearance, short front and rear overhangs and suspension geometry make it possible to easily and without damage overcome speed bumps, snow drifts, move in ruts, and maneuver in multi-level garages with ramps with a large fracture.

Currently, AVTOVAZ is preparing a restyling of the Lada Largus. An experimental batch of these cars has already been seen on the streets of Tolyatti. Serial production can begin after a corporate holiday, i.e. after August 16, 2022.

Suspension and steering

As you know, the suspension is a component of the car platform. Since LADA Largus is built on the B0 platform, the suspension architecture is similar to other cars on this platform. But due to the fact that the station wagon and van have a relatively large mass, some suspension parts are reinforced. Accordingly, both springs and shock absorbers have original characteristics.

As for the differences from the suspension of other front-wheel drive LADA cars, the LADA Largus design uses a front subframe. The presence of a subframe allows the use of a wishbone suspension - this design makes the suspension more rigid, which allows you to maintain the kinematics laid down by the engineers and has a positive effect on stability and controllability.

Another design feature is that the steering rack is located at the bottom and is mounted on a subframe. The design of the cross member of the instrument panel and the steering rack itself determines the use of a hydraulic booster.

A design feature of the LADA Largus rear suspension is the use of a separate spring and shock absorber design. This design allows you to expand the distance between the rear wheel arches and increase the volume of the luggage compartment - and this is important for a station wagon and a van.

The Lada Largus Cross uses different suspension settings (shock absorbers).
