The Lada-Priora immobilizer light indicator is on

Using immo in any car, including Lada Priora, the engine is blocked, which prevents the possibility of car theft. The need to disable the immobilizer on the Priora may arise if the device malfunctions.

Lada immobilizer malfunction (Kalina, Priora, Granta)

After entering the code, hold down the gas pedal until the Check indicator appears on the instrument panel again (no more than three seconds). If the first number is 3, then press the gas three times, and the Check indicator on the device will light up again. If it goes out, this indicates that the first digit of the combination has been accepted; all that remains is to write it into the ECU memory. Why doesn’t the engine start? The fuel pump doesn’t pump, the starter doesn’t turn. Why doesn’t the engine start? The fuel pump doesn’t pump, the starter doesn’t turn. All causes of immobilizer malfunctions. How to disable the blocker on Priora?

To independently remove and turn off the system, you will need a K-Line class adapter. It will need to be connected to the computer and the blocker itself. You must first download software to change the firmware on your PC.

The procedure may differ depending on the board in the installed immobilizer - M73 or M74.

Step-by-step instruction

A guide that will allow you to remove immo on the M73:

  1. The Openbox program is installed on your computer or laptop. The blocking device is connected to the PC. The utility starts and the standard EEPROM firmware is read.
  2. Data about the installed software is saved in the computer's memory. They will be needed in case the removal procedure fails.
  3. Then the HxD file editor is downloaded and installed. The downloaded firmware opens on the computer. At the very beginning of the text you need to add a line that consists of the characters FF. The changes are saved.
  4. The edited file is loaded into the memory of the microprocessor module. It is possible to use ready-made software options; you can search for them on the Internet.
  5. The module is then disconnected from the computer and installed on the car.

If the Priora uses a January 7.2 microprocessor unit, then to disable the immo, you need to assemble a circuit that has a positive cable switch.

After this, the procedure is performed as follows:

  1. ChipLoader software is downloaded and installed on the PC. The program version must be 1.97.7 or higher.
  2. The utility is launched and the required type of microprocessor module is selected in the main window.
  3. The unit itself is connected to the computer. The main program window opens, where you need to select the connection setup option.
  4. Basic firmware data is downloaded from the Eeprom memory card.
  5. Then you need to click on the “remove immobilizer” button. This will cause the utility to automatically adjust the basic parameters in the memory file.
  6. Then the software closes. The module is disconnected from the computer and installed back on the car.

The Xilvlik channel talked about the process of disabling the standard blocking device.

If the car is equipped with an immobilizer with an M74 board, then the shutdown procedure is as follows:

  1. The battery in the vehicle is disconnected. The block with wires is disconnected from the microprocessor unit.
  2. A cable harness made according to the diagram shown in the photo is connected to the device. It is recommended to use a double switch. This will allow voltage to be applied to the device in stages.
  3. The circuit is connected to the battery and to the PC using a VAG-COM cable.
  4. The first button of the switch is activated, with its help an impulse is sent to allow the programming procedure to be carried out.
  5. The WinFlash program runs on your computer or laptop. A settings window opens where you need to select the module type. The information transmission speed parameter is also indicated here. When performing a task, it is recommended to specify a minimum value.
  6. The second button is activated. Then a message about the start of communication with the module will appear in the main window of the utility.
  7. The standard software of the blocking device is saved, and the Eeprom memory is changed to a new one. The flashing procedure will take some time.
  8. If the process is completed, the program is turned off and the device and wiring are disconnected.
  9. The unit is then connected back to the vehicle. After this, it will be necessary to adapt the zero voltage of the throttle valve. To accomplish the task, you need to accelerate to about 4 thousand revolutions per minute, and then slow down the engine several times. The second speed is used. You need to brake to about 1 thousand rpm.

  • We study the main malfunctions of the immobilizer
  • General check before troubleshooting
  • Main signs of immobilizer malfunctions
  • What are the types of immobilizer malfunctions?
  • How to fix immobilizer faults

Imagine a modern car without a security system thought out to the smallest detail. True, very difficult. Vehicles from the beginning of the last century immediately come to mind. But now you need to protect yourself as much as possible from intruders who are trying to steal your “pet,” even if it is in the garage.

Perhaps one of the best and most thoughtful solutions to modern car security is an immobilizer. And although repairing this device, like every complex electronic device, is not easy, it is still more reliable with it. And remember that there are specialized agencies and service centers that will help you and carry out restoration. Alternatively, you can try to troubleshoot the immobilizer yourself by first studying the instructions for it in detail.

General check before troubleshooting

Before performing general troubleshooting on your vehicle's immobilizer, check the following and correct as necessary:

— if the battery is discharged, charge it completely, and then start looking for problems with the immobilizer itself;

- if the ignition key is not original, use one approved by the brand of your car, and then start working on the immobilizer;

— remove the key and look for problems with it only;

- remove additional electronic gadgets or parts that may interfere, and look for malfunctions in the immobilizer system.

Main signs of immobilizer malfunctions

The main signs of malfunctions that should not be ignored are the following:

— when turning the key, the starter does not respond;

- when you turn the key and hear the starter moving, but the engine is silent;

— the dashboard signals with a corresponding light and sound;

— the car does not respond to pressing the corresponding button on the key fob (unless, of course, the problem is due to dead batteries in it).

Everything listed above is the most common signs that the immobilizer requires specialist help: software restoration or firmware updating. If you ignore such signals of malfunctions or entrust the task to amateurs, then everything can develop into more serious problems.

What are the types of immobilizer malfunctions?

The following types of immobilizer malfunctions are distinguished:

1. A software malfunction, which implies the destruction of the program in the engine ECU, immobilizer, or key chip. This problem can be resolved. Restoring the program of the listed systems helps. The exception is the chip key, which sometimes has no duplicates.

2. A hardware malfunction in which microcircuits fail or problems occur in the wiring of any system component. In this case, the fault must be diagnosed and corrected.

How to fix immobilizer faults

The immobilizer is structurally designed in such a way that a problem that occurs with one of its units will disable the entire system of the device. But of all the faults, the most common ones can be identified.

Insufficient electrical contact between the receiver and the antenna

In this case, the immobilizer malfunctions extremely often. There have been cases when it was possible to start the car only after the twentieth attempt. This problem occurs due to shaking, the antenna and receiver connectors are made poorly, the contacts are oxidized or dirt and grease have gotten on them.

In this case, the contact does not disappear immediately, but after a certain period of time, which depends on many factors. To fix this problem, you need to disconnect the receiver and antenna, turn off its power, then treat it with a special agent that eliminates contamination and oxidation. If necessary, it is better to tighten the antenna contacts.

Poor contact of one of the electrical wiring connectors

This problem also occurs if the antenna connectors are dirty. To eliminate it, dismantle all immobilizer wiring and check the condition of each wiring connector and blocks. Clean them with a special cleaner and tighten as necessary.

Hooray! Immobilizer disabled! Now I start the car with a key without a chip

You take out the key, the immobilizer blinks, it blinks constantly. When they installed the alarm in the cabin, they said that the immobilizer was turned off. Has anyone encountered this problem or has any advice? This video is just my emotions from the joy of the moment, I have long wanted to do this, and finally it happened, the built-in immo has been put to sleep _))))) It’s no secret that for many owners of the domestic Lada, be it ten, Kalina or Priora, the built-in immo is pure evil , and indeed, this thing won’t save you from modern car thieves, but it will add trouble to its owner. Just imagine, you went on vacation to the seaside, and suddenly your car refuses to start, what should you do? Should I wait until they send me a spare chip key by mail?

Characteristics and principle of operation of the blocker on Priora

Priors can use two types of immo - APS-4 and APS-6.
The first ones began to be installed on VAZs back in the early 00s and are considered less reliable. In the blocking device on Priora, the main role is played by the PIC16С65В controller and the K-Line bus. And the main element of the microprocessor module for working with the blocker is the physical section EPROOM. The latter records a special file with the same name, contained in the memory of the ECU (electronic control unit). It stores immobilizer learning combinations and it is this element that is responsible for the safety of the vehicle. If the file is activated and the blocker does not send a signal, the microprocessor module opens the ignition circuit and turns off the fuel supply system.

In more detail it looks like this:

  1. The driver, approaching the car, presses a button on the remote control.
  2. The doors open and the key is inserted into the ignition.
  3. A signal comes from the chip and is fed to the antenna adapter.
  4. The ring-type antenna begins to read the pulse from the chip. This element is made of a large number of turns of copper wire. The antenna adapter itself is located around the ignition switch cylinder.
  5. The pulse, after reading, is transmitted to the microprocessor module. The control unit begins diagnosing the signal and compares it with the normalized one. As a result, it gives a command to allow or prohibit the start of the power unit.
  6. If the key is not recognized and the device begins to block the main components, then an indicator is displayed on the control panel indicating a faulty immobilizer.

Auto electrician Sergei Zaitsev spoke about the principle of operation of the standard anti-theft system.

Where is the immobilizer located?

In the first models of vehicles with security devices, the immobilizer unit was located separately. But in Priors it is installed in the electrical package. The device is mounted in the car radio compartment, slightly below the central part of the console in the cabin. The microprocessor module is also located here.

When you "reboot" your industry, the keys must and should learn smoothly. Why was the eeprom reset during the firmware update?

The principle is the following. The ECU contains FLASH and EEPROM. If they want to improve (change) the performance of the engine, they change the Flash. If they want to turn off immo or register new keys, or if it costs something else, they overwrite the EEPROM. But if the ECU is a replacement and the firmware is pre-installed into it, which is radically different from the required one, for example, the firmware and the car differ in the presence (absence) of a CAN bus, or the ECU from a UAZ is installed on a Prioress (or vice versa), so . so yes ! Only in these cases are both the firmware and eeprom overwritten

I have a slightly different problem: I have never had problems on the go. And when I start it, sometimes it doesn’t start—the starter spins, but to no avail. I look at the flashing yellow car... For the first time I can’t understand that we’re not starting. Now I just turn off the ignition, take out the key (you can also lock and unlock the doors with the key), after which the ignition is not a problem. This happens about 1 time out of 20. A problem, of course. But while I'm driving, that's why there's no red key, that's why I'm driving

other methods

If the immobilizer has blocked the engine of a Grant or other cars from starting, you can contact a service station, where they can either turn it off completely or install a lineman. The latter can apply voltage to certain terminals and thereby close the necessary contacts. Such a device deceives the ECU, and the engine starts successfully.

Professional technicians can interfere with the operation of the electronics by disconnecting the immobilizer itself from the car’s electronics. But if you do this yourself, you can harm the entire system.

Engine start blocked? Don't rush to conclusions

There are situations when many car owners blame a blocked immobilizer, but in reality the problem is different.

Please note the following points:

  1. Battery discharge. Modern immobilizers have a protection function that prevents the engine from starting when there is low voltage or no voltage in the on-board network. For example, you start the car, the starter made an attempt to crank the engine and that was all over - the protection system worked. Most likely you need to charge the battery. Or start it from the cigarette lighter. Also pay attention to the terminals, they should not be oxidized and should be in close contact with the wires; it is also important to know how to lubricate them correctly.
  2. The battery in the key fob is low. Many people forget that there is also a battery there (not the training key, but the working one), as a rule, it is CR2032. Replace it and you won’t need to unlock the immobilizer, everything will work without it. Many will say that the battery only affects the standard alarm and door opening, and the chip in the key is non-volatile. But as practice shows, replacing the old battery with a new one solves the problem.

  3. Circuit breakers. Check them and replace if necessary.
  4. Limit switches. Distorted signals may arrive at the control board due to oxidation of the contacts on the limit switches. As a rule, they are located in the area of the engine and luggage compartment. They need to be checked and, if necessary, cleaned and treated with alcohol.

You will not be able to do without the help of specialists when:

  1. Problems with the key itself. Most likely you will have to register a new key at a car service center. If you have the knowledge, you can do it yourself.
  2. The immobilizer software has failed. The only way out of this situation is by flashing the device. And since you don’t have a PIN card in your hands (since 1998 they have not been issued to car owners), you will have to contact a dealership, where they will check all the documents for ownership of the vehicle and only then re-flash it. This applies to those cars in which the immobilizer is supplied by default from the manufacturer.

Bypass immo using crawler

You can bypass the engine blocker by breaking the conductors. To complete the task, you will need to dismantle the protective cover on the steering column, which is secured with two self-tapping screws.

After this, the following is done:

  1. There are two thin cables going to the ignition switch; either of them (green or white insulation) must be cut.
  2. Then you need to connect a two-wire loop from the break point to the bypass module.
  3. This element is connected instead of an inductive loop. Then the chip is installed. It is installed in the standard key. The lineman is connected to the anti-theft installation.

Are further blockages possible?

After unlocking, the immobilizer can lock the car again in the following cases:

  1. When the battery is disconnected.
  2. 10 seconds after the ignition is turned off.

After turning off the ignition, you will need to enter the code again. If you enter it incorrectly 3 times in a row, the next attempt will be possible after five minutes. Please note that all of these steps are not suitable for decoding a code solenoid valve or computer. Entering the emergency code will only allow you to start the engine.

How does an immobilizer differ from a regular alarm system?

The main difference between an immobilizer and an alarm system is its shorter range of action and a more advanced, one might say, intelligent principle of protection. All this significantly reduces the likelihood of car theft.

For example, in order to intercept a signal coming from the key fob of a conventional security system, an attacker can be located at a considerable distance from the car - several tens of meters.

This will not work with an immobilizer; to intercept the signal you need to be directly next to the car, and this limits the possibilities of car thieves significantly.

Another advantage of the immobilizer is the almost impossibility of copying it, because for this you will need a special master card, which cannot be said about alarm key fobs, which in our time, by knowledgeable people, can simply be duplicated.
