Such a parameter as the gap on the spark plugs of a VAZ 2114 8-valve injector is extremely important for the proper operation of the car engine.
Candle VAZ 2114
If it is set incorrectly, the following malfunctions may occur:
- the car will stall frequently;
- fuel consumption will increase sharply;
- oil stains will appear in the spark plug well;
- the car will not be able to maintain the same engine speed;
- the engine will start harder;
- The spark plugs will quickly exhaust their service life and fail.
Spark plug gap measuring tool
In order to avoid such troubles, you should know exactly what the gap of the VAZ 2114 spark plugs should be. So, according to technical recommendations from the manufacturer, for injection engines the value of this indicator can normally fluctuate between 1 and 1.15 mm. For conventional engines - between 0.6 and 0.7 mm.
This difference is caused by the fact that in injection cars the voltage supplied to the spark plug is controlled by an electronic system and has a higher voltage and current.
Of course, a spark plug with a gap set for a carburetor engine will be able to work in an injection engine, but will quickly fail due to strong overheating (the main sign of this is the white surfaces of the output contacts of the spark plug).
You should know that if an electronic ignition system is installed in a car with a carburetor engine, then the spark plug gap should be set to the same as for injection engines.
If the gap is set to more than the specified value, this can also cause improper operation of the engine, instability when maintaining speed, as well as flooding of the spark plug itself. It is in order to eliminate such troubles that you need to be able to measure the size of the gap and, if necessary, be able to adjust it.
What should be the gap

Since the Samara-2 engine is an injection engine, we will talk about the gap and adjustment specifically for the electronic fuel injection system.
Spark plug gap standards for VAZ-2114 (8 valves)
We set the gap between the electrodes of the spark plug, the tap is 1 mm, everything is according to Feng Shui!
The normal indicator of the spark plug gap for an engine installed on a VAZ-2114 is the distance between the electrodes in the aisles - 1.0-1.13 mm.
Consequences of an incorrect value
Therefore, if the spark plug exceeds these parameters, this can cause problems in the operation of the engine, namely:
- Fuel consumption will change upward.
- The car will start to stall and stall.
- The revolutions may fluctuate.
- An oil trace will appear in the spark plug well.
- And others.
Measuring and correcting the gap
A special tool for setting spark plug gaps - a feeler gauge
The spark plug gap is measured and corrected using a special tool - a feeler gauge. It consists of plates that have different thicknesses. For measurement, a plate is selected that fits into the stretch, but not too much. It is the designation on the plate that will indicate the current gap.
To correct it, you need to bend the outer electrode or move it out a little.
After the adjustment, it is worth measuring the gap again. The procedure continues until the spark plug distance between the electrodes reaches the established standards.
Note!!! Many motorists believe that in automotive spare parts stores, spark plugs are sold with the gap already set. But this is not true!!! Since spark plugs are the same type for many brands and models, they have a standard gap of 1 mm. Therefore, after purchasing a new set, you need to set them according to the specified size.
Effect of incorrect clearance on engine performance
As practice shows, many motorists make the same mistake - install spark plugs without adjusting the spark plug gap between the electrodes. This may lead to the following consequences:
- A large gap leads to increased consumption of the fuel mixture. Many car enthusiasts may rejoice at the appearance of additional dynamism and traction until they see a consumption of 12-15 liters per 100 km. Another indirect indicator may be gas dips or a jerking effect. This will not only affect consumption, but also the wear and tear of the motor itself.
Black soot is the first sign of a very rich mixture.
- A small gap will lead to the engine stalling and starting will be quite difficult . An indirect indicator can be oil in the wells, as well as a drop in power (the increase in power is written here).
Gap on spark plugs: what affects
How to choose the right spark plugs: selection by car
If the car engine starts to work intermittently, fuel consumption increases, and power is lost, the gap on the spark plugs is often the cause. Moreover, such failures often occur both during operation and immediately after installing new spark plugs.
In such a situation, drivers begin to check explosive wires, coils, etc. However, in reality, the reason is often an increased or decreased spark plug gap
To understand what the gap should be, it is important to first consider the effect of different gaps on the operation of the ignition system as a whole.
Optimal spark plug gap
The optimal (correct) spark plug gap is the best selected distance between the central electrode, which is supplied with high voltage voltage, and the side electrode to generate a stable and powerful spark.
As a result, the spark power is sufficient for normal ignition of the fuel charge in the cylinder, and sparking occurs stably (no misfires). This allows the engine to run smoothly (without tripping), as well as efficiently consume fuel in different modes.
Increased spark plug gap
A large spark plug gap allows for a powerful discharge, but spark stability decreases noticeably. A spark may not occur, leading to misfire. This problem occurs both on old spark plugs due to burnout of the electrodes and an increase in the gap, and on new spark plugs, where the gap is not initially set quite correctly.
Also, a large spark plug gap affects the condition of the insulator (protects the lower electrode from breakdown). The fact is that the spark “looks” for the shortest path to reach the other electrode and simply breaks through the insulation. In total, an increase in the gap makes it difficult to start the engine when cold, negatively affects the operation of the power unit and reduces the service life of the spark plugs themselves.
Small gap between electrodes
Reducing the spark plug gap produces a more stable spark, but the power of such a spark is often not enough to ignite the fuel charge. The result is misfire of the mixture, since the fuel charge does not burn in the cylinders.
It turns out that although a small spark plug gap allows for more stable spark formation, the fuel does not ignite from a weak spark with all the ensuing consequences.
It should also be added that for different ignition systems and power systems, the gaps on the spark plugs are somewhat different. This means that spark plugs that work normally on a carburetor engine may not work well on an injector and vice versa.
How does ignition work in a cylinder?
If we talk about spark plugs, then this is like the last link in the ignition system, which is in direct contact with the air-fuel mixture. It is this element that sets it on fire, and does it either effectively and as laid down in the technical regulations, or ineffectively for a number of reasons (by the way, wear is often to blame).
After the fuel mixture (gasoline and air) has been supplied to the cylinders, the piston begins to go up and compress it, thereby increasing pressure.
At the peak or, as is commonly called, the “top point,” the ECU gives an order and this composition ignites. Moreover, it is ignited by the spark plug - a spark runs between the electrodes, which is the catalyst.
However, ignition may not occur, I am not currently considering options with a faulty ignition system, it’s just that the gap is set incorrectly. Thus, “missing” may occur (that is, the fuel mixture does not ignite), which will cause your engine to operate with low efficiency, and sometimes it will not start at all (for example, in the morning in winter). But why does this happen?
Signs of incorrect clearance VAZ 2114
Rating of the top 7 best spark plugs: which ones to choose
A larger or smaller distance leads to rapid wear of the motor. It negatively affects the driving performance of the car. The signs of this problem are usually the following:
- Increased fuel consumption. The car has to be refueled more often than before. At the same time, it may seem that she began to drive better and faster. This indicates an increased spark plug gap;
- Increased car dynamics. The car began to accelerate faster and began to seem more resourceful. At the same time, gasoline consumption is also increasing. This can be seen by sensations and instrument readings. The symptom indicates too much distance;
- Reduced power and dynamics. The car doesn’t seem to be able to pull, it’s getting worse to drive and accelerate. This occurs due to the value of this value being too small;
- The engine is tripping. In this case, the car shakes or the engine shakes. Observed at idle and not only;
- Floating speed. The speed of the power unit is unstable and changes for no apparent reason. This can be seen from the readings on the dashboard;
- Traces of oil in the spark plug well. They can be seen upon examination;
- The engine suddenly stalls at idle and when driving. The engine stops working for an unknown reason;
- Difficulty starting the power unit. It starts very poorly, not the first time. Sometimes the engine may not start at all.
It is not prohibited to operate the machine with incorrect spark plug distance. But driving with such a disadvantage leads to serious damage to the power unit, requiring complex repairs. And driving with this problem is uncomfortable. Therefore, it must be eliminated within a reasonable time.
Spark plug
Auto simple (standard non-iridium) spark plugs denso k16tt
Very often the engine on a VAZ 2114 stalls due to faulty spark plugs. Sometimes a check mark blinks on the dashboard. Visual inspection often allows you to identify failed elements. In this case, you may notice carbon deposits, as well as other dirt and damage. You can check the serviceability of the spark plug with the help of a friend, since it is difficult to do this alone. The check is carried out as follows: One person starts the car starter, and the other puts the metal part of the spark plug with a high voltage to the engine. If the element is working properly, a spark should appear when the starter operates. If it is not there, the spark plugs need to be changed.
How and with what feeler gauge do you measure the spark plug gap?
To measure the spark plug gap, a tool is used - a feeler gauge. It has several plates of different thicknesses. Measurement with this device is performed as shown in the figure below.
Useful : How to check the ignition module on a VAZ 2114?
To measure, you need to take a plate that will fit most tightly. But the tension should not be excessive. The value written on the meter will show the distance between the electrodes. If it is within normal limits, the procedure usually requires a plate with a 1 mm mark.
When is it time to replace the spark plug?
The operating interval of one set of spark plugs is usually designed for fourteen to twenty thousand kilometers. Although, the deadlines that manufacturers set are much longer - thirty thousand kilometers. Perhaps such a significant difference in numbers was due to the large number of counterfeit products on the modern auto parts market. And, nevertheless, if you trust the opinion of experienced car owners, then it is better to carry out the replacement procedure early rather than late.
What troubles can they bring in used condition:
- Gasoline consumption will increase significantly.
- The cost of operating a car will increase.
- Starting a cold engine will become difficult and take a long time.
- There will be misfires.
- Engine operation will no longer be stable.
Helpful advice: often thrifty drivers put off buying and replacing spark plugs. This is mainly done for reasons of economy. But, as you already know, when they are heavily worn, gasoline consumption increases significantly and visits to the gas station become more frequent. Don't get carried away by the illusion of savings; replace regularly.
If your car has managed to accumulate an impressive mileage on one set of spark plugs, and the car’s traction has begun to weaken, then your VAZ 2114 needs to replace the spark plugs.
Cause of the phenomenon
The main reason why the VAZ 2114 burns spark plugs in cold weather lies in the following. During cold (and, especially, frosty) weather, the oxygen content in the atmospheric air increases sharply.
When the car starts, the sensors transmit a corresponding signal to the ECU, thereby causing an increased supply of gasoline (this is due to the fact that more oxygen requires more fuel, otherwise the mixture will be lean and the engine will not work correctly).
Candle VAZ 2114
If the car is new, and all components and assemblies of its fuel system and engine are fully operational, then the increased volume of gasoline will not cause any difficulties at the time of start, and the car will start immediately. But, if the car is more than 3 years old (subject to frequent use), then the problem with flooded spark plugs becomes more than real for it.
The most common reasons for flooding the spark plugs on the VAZ 2114 injector are:
- low compression due to piston wear;
- low quality of fuel used;
- bad (poor quality) candles;
- low battery level.
DIY replacement instructions
Replacing spark plugs on VAZ 2114 and 2115 is not a complicated process. This work can be performed by any motorist, following the step-by-step instructions given below.
Tools and materials
To carry out the procedure you need to prepare:
- key for removing protection;
- a set of round probes;
- spark plug key;
- new set of SZ.
To avoid counterfeiting, you should purchase original products.
The process of dismantling and replacing SZ
Unscrewed from the SZ socket
The procedure for removing and replacing spark plugs should be carried out on a cool engine to avoid burns.
The process itself consists of the following steps:
- First you need to open the hood. Then you need to remove the protection from the engine, if present.
- After removing the decorative trim, you need to remove the protective caps with high-voltage wires that are placed on the contacts. The caps should be removed carefully so as not to damage the wiring.
- The areas near the NW should be cleared of dirt so that they do not get into the engine cylinders.
- Now, using a spark plug wrench, you need to unscrew the S3 from the cylinder head. You can start twisting from any side. First you need to move it from the dead center, and then you can carefully unscrew the SZ from the socket.
- Having turned out the old SZ, you need to wipe the thread with a rag.
- Before screwing in new products, it is advisable to check the gap on each of them. For cars with an injector, it should be from 1 to 1.13 mm.
- Installing the SZ is the same simple procedure as unscrewing; it is carried out in the reverse order. New products are placed in the seats of old candles. You need to screw it in carefully so as not to damage the threads in the cylinder head or on the product.
- Next you need to put on the ends of the high-voltage wires. In this case, you need to make sure that the numbers of the wires that are printed on them match.
- At the final stage, the decorative overlay is returned to its place.
After replacing the SZ, it is necessary to observe how the engine operates. If it works intermittently, it is possible that one of the SZ has defects. To detect it, you need to sequentially disconnect each high-voltage wire. A faulty spark plug should be replaced.
Price issue
High-quality products always cost more. Domestic products are several times cheaper, but the quality leaves much to be desired. Therefore, it is worth buying imported candles that will last much longer than domestic ones. At the same time, the service life of the engine will be extended, and fuel will be consumed more economically.

How to correctly set the gap between the spark plug electrodes on a VAZ 2107?
In order to adjust the gap, we need a spark plug wrench or head, as well as a set of feeler gauges with plates of the required thickness. I bought a model from Jonnesway in an online store for 140 rubles. This is what it looks like:
First of all, we unscrew all the spark plugs from the engine cylinder head:
Then we select the required thickness of the probe for your ignition system and insert it between the side and central electrodes of the spark plug. The probe should fit tightly, not with much effort.
We carry out a similar operation with the remaining candles. We screw everything into place and are satisfied with the excellent operation of the engine.
How to extend the life of a candle
The idea of extending the service life of our part seems very attractive. The question is how to do this correctly? Some drivers are confident that if they drive slowly, the spark plug will last them longer. And they are wrong! The spark plugs actually clean themselves, but only when driving fast. At high engine speeds, it is freed from the deposits that have formed.
In addition to high speeds, you can extend their service life by regularly checking the clearance. The latter must be within the limits established by the factory.
- Carefully select new replacement spark plugs. They should fit your car as best as possible.
- In winter, allow the engine to warm up thoroughly before driving.
- Under no circumstances should candles be flooded.
- Always have an extra set of new candles with you.
Good luck on the roads!
Which spark plugs for VAZ are better to choose?
There are a large number of different modifications of the part, which complicates life for motorists. The problem is that each motor is designed for a specific type of spark plug. If you supply the wrong part, a number of negative consequences can arise.
- Misfire of the mixture due to the gap between the electrodes of the element being too wide.
- Interruptions in the operation of the internal combustion engine caused by too low spark power.
- Instant failure of the device due to too much electrode protrusion.
Also, depending on the inconsistencies present, other malfunctions may “pop up” that reduce the comfort of using the car.
What to look for when choosing.
Specialists from the AvtoVAZ plant recommend selecting spark plugs according to a number of parameters.
- Heat number. The parameter characterizes the rate of heat removal from the working part of the candle. At the same time, the electrode transfers excess heat to the spark plug skirt in a timely manner, which ensures stable operation of the part. If energy is removed too quickly, scale forms on the working part of the part, which prevents normal spark breakdown. If the withdrawal is too slow, the thin electrode overheats. The process provokes the formation of glow ignition. This prevents the engine from operating normally due to detonation of the mixture or its early ignition. Under normal thermal conditions, a spark adequately breaks through the spark plugs and does not form excessive carbon deposits.
- Spark gap. Some users know that for the engine to operate correctly, the spark gap on the spark plugs must be maintained. The working gap on VAZ spark plugs is strictly set by the manufacturer of the power plant and is necessary due to the fact that the formed electric arc has a certain strength. As the distance increases, the spark loses stability, which can lead to misfires. In the opposite case, easier starting of the engine is ensured, but when the gas is released, the electric arc current may not be enough. This is justified by the fact that each ignition coil has a certain transformation ratio, usually equal to 2000 units. This means that during the start-up of the internal combustion engine, the elements produce up to 14 kW, and during normal operation it is already 24. Consequently, failure to comply with this parameter can lead to serious disruptions in the operation of the motor.
- Departure of the working part of the electrodes. The parameter is critical for adequate operation of the power plant. The spark plugs on the VAZ 8-valve injector, as well as for carburetor models, have electrodes strongly pushed forward. This is due to the fact that the structural parts are located in the corner of the combustion chamber, where there is no adequate ventilation. The overhang of the working part allows for better ignition of the mixture and stabilizes engine operation. If the spark plugs are mounted in a multi-valve engine, where the inserts are located in the center of the valve head, it is recommended to install spark plugs with a deep-set core - this will prevent damage to the electrodes by the piston bottom and an abundance of carbon deposits on the structural elements.
- Number of electrodes. Initially, manufacturers position this parameter as a definite plus. When one electrode “burns out,” the spark plug switches to another, which significantly increases its service life. However, not everything is as simple as it seems at first glance. If the mixture is sprayed unevenly in the cylinder (poor ventilation of the combustion chamber), and at this moment the spark jumps to the shadowed part (the place where the exhaust remains), misfire may occur, which will lead to unstable operation of the power plant. Additionally, this fact increases the wear of the catalyst and engine oil, which is critical for VAZ cars.
- Manufacturer. The manufacturer of the product is also an important parameter. Users recommend buying from trusted brands that have been on the market for a long time. The cost of such candles will be significant, but with proper selection and operation they will work for a long time and without significant complaints.
By adhering to the specified parameters, a car enthusiast can buy a fairly high-quality product, while saving on the frequency of car servicing and repairs.
Reduced distance between electrodes
If this parameter is less than that recommended for this type of power unit, then the electric arc (spark) will be good, but short. In such a situation, most likely the short arc will not be enough to ignite the fuel-air mixture in the cylinder.
Since the mixture does not ignite, it means that it can flood the electrodes of the spark plug. The consequence of this will be that this cylinder is switched off from operation, that is, the engine will begin to “trouble.” If the gap is significantly smaller than recommended, the following can happen: when the internal combustion engine is running at high speeds, a powerful but short electric arc will not have time to open - there will be a continuous spark. The sad consequence of this may be a short circuit of the ignition coil.

Replacement process
Before replacing, you need to prepare: study safety precautions, select the necessary tools and materials.
Safety rules when replacing spark plugs:
- Carry out the replacement procedure when the engine temperature drops below 30-40 degrees Celsius. Thanks to this recommendation, you can prevent the occurrence of burns on the skin.
- Disconnect the on-board network. To do this, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
- Wear gloves. They will help protect your hands from minor injuries.
Required tools and materials:
- Candle key;
- Compressed air cylinder;
- Brush for removing dirt;
- New ignition elements;
- Gloves.
Step by step procedure for replacing spark plugs:
- Stop the operation of the power unit. Wait until it cools down to an acceptable operating temperature.
- Lift the hood lid. Using a special design, fix it in the open position.
- Grab the rubber caps of the high-voltage wires and carefully pull them out of their installation locations.
- Clean the surface from dirt using a brush.
- Unscrew the ignition element using the key.
- Carry out similar actions with the remaining candles.
- Check the new spark supply element. Measure the gap between the electrodes.
- Tighten the consumable by hand. Complete an action using a tool.
- Connect high voltage wires.
Please note: the main mistake of a novice car owner is to confuse the wires. You can't do this
High-voltage wiring is connected according to the markings in strict sequence for each cylinder.
After replacing the spark plugs, an unpleasant surprise may await the car owner. The engine speed may “float”, the engine jerks. Reason: perhaps a novice car owner purchased a low-quality ignition part. Defective goods must be returned.
It is easy to find out which ignition element is not working. To do this, the high-voltage wires are disconnected one by one. If the engine sound remains the same, the part is faulty and must be replaced.
How to check spark on a spark plug
If you experience unstable engine operation, it begins to “triple”, it is quite possible that the time has come to replace the spark plugs, or the PVN, or the ignition module needs to be replaced. So, first, let's check the spark plugs, most often they are the cause.
- We remove the PVN tips from the spark plugs
- Unscrew all 4 spark plugs (you will need a 21 key)
- We put the tip on the spark plug and lean it against the metal (possibly against the body of the engine block)
Attention! The spark plug is under high voltage at this moment, so it is better to hold it with pliers or something similar
We start turning the starter and look at the spark plug, if there is a spark, then the spark plug is working. We do the same actions with other candles.
Advantages and disadvantages of iridium spark plugs
Everyone knows that the main component of a car spark plug is the electrode. So, in the so-called iridium spark plugs it is made from an alloy of rare elements: iridium and rhodium.
Denso iridium spark plugs were first used on a production car in 1997 and were subsequently patented by Japanese engineers. As a rule, manufacturers of such candles claim that their service life is very long. But is this really so?
Denso cites the following advantages of its products: manufacturing of insulators from aluminum oxide, high degree of insulation, significantly reduced electrical losses, gas-tight insulation of the central electrode, large volume of the ignition zone.
The main advantages of iridium spark plugs include:
- Better efficiency. The developers have minimized the contact area between two elements - the flame core and the electrode. This was achieved through the use of a thin wire structure, the diameter of which is about 0.4 mm. For comparison, the spark gap in conventional spark plugs with copper electrodes is about 1 mm, which is 2.5 times larger. In addition, as already mentioned, a small amount of iridium at the tip of the spark plug provides a more powerful spark and, as a result, improved starting quality. In this case, a spark appears at a much lower voltage;
- Smooth idle operation. It is no secret that problems with spark plug ignition usually occur at idle. But here, too, iridium spark plugs showed their best qualities. Their minimum voltage requirements and good flammability contribute to stable operation of the power unit at idle. Moreover, thanks to efficient fuel combustion, the number of revolutions also increases;
- Productivity increase. It has already been proven that the use of iridium spark plugs can increase the performance of the power unit by almost 7-8%. In some cases, such changes are clearly visible;
- Reduced fuel consumption. Again, research and operating experience show that the use of iridium spark plugs allows you to save on fuel. The total consumption is reduced by almost 6-7% compared to conventional copper products;
- Reducing fuel toxicity. Better combustion of the air-fuel mixture has an additional advantage for the atmosphere - the exhaust becomes less harmful and has smaller volumes of CO and CH;
- Ease of starting the engine. The high efficiency of iridium spark plugs allows you to start the engine without problems in any weather - even in severe frost;
- Increasing resource. Most manufacturers guarantee high-quality operation of the device for 150-160 thousand kilometers. Although, in practice, replacement has to be done more often - somewhere after 100-120 thousand. The reasons are possible engine problems, low fuel quality, and so on. In any case, this is much more than conventional spark plugs, which can last only 15-20 thousand kilometers.
Well, I would only list the disadvantages as:
high price. The main stumbling block for most car enthusiasts is the cost of the device, which hits their pockets hard.
But it's important to take a long-term view here. High-quality iridium spark plugs will last much longer
During this period, you can have time to replace several sets of conventional products; focus on modern engines. Unfortunately, on most cars it is very difficult to notice changes. In the production of iridium spark plugs, the emphasis was on high-tech and most powerful engines. This is why standard spark plugs will suffice for standard models. As for the use of iridium spark plugs, it will be justified only in terms of resource.
IRIDIUM CANDLE – IS IT WORTH OVERPAYING FOR “PRECIOUS METAL”
Despite the fact that the question of which spark plugs are better: platinum or iridium, everyone decides for himself, there are still no special differences between them. In addition, many manufacturers combine the beneficial properties of these metals in their products.
For example, spark plugs are produced that have a central electrode made of iridium, and a platinum solder on the side electrode. In practice, this allows you to maximize the resource and get a more stable spark.
This is especially important if the car is switched to gas. It is known that the gas-air mixture ignites much worse than gasoline, and it also requires a higher temperature
In such engines, the gap on iridium spark plugs, which is carefully calibrated at the factory, is especially important to keep intact.
Owners of powerful or sports cars also often wonder which spark plugs are better - iridium or platinum. There can be no clear answer here. For such cars, the best option would be a sample whose side electrode is made in the form of a cone, often with an additional notch inside. This increases spark stability to a certain extent and increases its temperature, which has a beneficial effect on engine performance. The video below clearly shows how iridium samples improved the performance of the simplest engine in a domestic car:
Another question that worries motorists quite a lot is the question of how to clean iridium spark plugs. In general, with a normally running engine, they clean themselves, and heavy carbon deposits do not accumulate on them. If such a problem does exist, you should look for the cause in the car itself, and not clean the spark plugs, especially modern ones - there is a high probability of ruining them. By and large, if there is one thing that distinguishes iridium spark plugs from conventional ones, it is their completely “problem-free” operation, and for the entire mileage allowed for their lifetime, they do not require any maintenance.
IS IT WORTH INSTALLING IRIDIUM PLUGS ON OLD CARS?
Is it worth installing iridium samples on old cars that have driven hundreds of thousands, or is it better to get by with a more budget option? This is a difficult question that cannot be answered unequivocally. The question here is, first of all, economic feasibility. On new injection models, expensive iridium options pay for themselves quite quickly. This happens not only due to improved technical characteristics of the engine, but also due to reduced maintenance costs, as well as a significant reduction in fuel consumption - and such spark plugs pay for themselves quite quickly.
An old carburetor car, regardless of whether it has iridium or regular spark plugs, will not “drive better”, and there will be no significant savings on gasoline. However, the operation of the ignition system will undoubtedly improve and become more stable, starting the engine in cold weather will be easier, and the engine will stop reacting violently to low-quality gasoline. Car maintenance is also important, especially one that runs on liquefied gas. Thus, installing modern spark plugs can significantly increase the comfort when operating a car, but it is unlikely that you will be able to save on the rest.
Automotive innovation is how iridium can be described. Spark plugs made from this material are worthy competitors to platinum ones. By replacing a classic set of spark plugs with an iridium one, you can significantly improve the performance of your vehicle. Most drivers prefer these spark plugs, as they are more durable, stronger and extend the life of their cars.
Candle design
Spark plugs are made of the same type, but often include different components, which allows you to change the technical characteristics of the spark plugs, but in general the elements included in the spark plug remain unchanged.
The candle consists of:
- The contact through which the wire and spark plug are connected;
- An insulator that allows you to maintain voltage from the ignition module without breakdown, and also protects the spark plug from overheating;
- Electrodes, central and side, between these two electrodes a spark occurs, igniting the fuel mixture;
- A ring that contracts, sealing the combustion chamber;
- Threads necessary for reliable fixation of the spark plug in the cylinder head;
