  6. Wait until the oil changes color to a lighter color.
  7. Ask to turn off the engine.
  8. Place the hose back onto the fitting.
  9. Pour as much oil into the box as was poured into the bottle.
  10. Start the car again and drive it for ten kilometers. The new lubricant will get into all automatic transmission components and cover them with a protective film.
  11. Stop on a flat surface and check the level, as I taught you in the “Checking the Level” block.

This way you can completely replace the used fluid with fresh one without using a high-pressure apparatus. And the Al4 automatic transmission will be able to work again without errors.

Do not forget to adapt the machine after each oil change. This will help you avoid many of the vagaries of the box, which sometimes occur due to the fault of an unadapted automatic transmission. Because often owners simply don’t give a damn about “taming” the machine, and then complain that it doesn’t listen to them.

Original oils are more expensive, but there is no problem of choice with them: whatever is indicated in the operating instructions, such automatic transmission fluid is 100% suitable for the car. And if the car is under warranty, then there shouldn’t be a question of choice. But if there are no obstacles to filling with universal oil, why overpay? It is important not to make a mistake about the brand of liquid.

We select based on the manufacturer's recommendations. Auto developers took into account the properties of the liquid that it shows during the operation of the unit. In automotive chemistry, the “transmission” has the most complex composition, which includes friction modifiers, antioxidants, corrosion inhibitors, various additives - temperature, viscosity, anti-wear, detergent, etc.

The main criterion, perhaps, is viscosity. Oils are divided into thick, medium viscosity and synthetic (semi-synthetic). What did the manufacturer indicate in the operating instructions? So we purchase only this type of automatic transmission fluid.

Another equally important factor is the temperature range of use of the liquid. Having determined the maximum air temperature during the current period of operation, we determine the minimum temperature to ensure lubricating properties. And, based on this, we select the oil class.

TOWING A CAR WITH AL4 automatic transmission

Towing is possible! The box is lubricated while the engine is running, driving the oil pump; Therefore, when towing a vehicle, the drive wheels must be raised. However, towing a vehicle when the drive wheels are in contact with the road is exceptionally possible if the following conditions are met:

  • Be sure to set the selector lever to the “N” position
  • do not add working fluid
  • do not exceed the driving speed of 50 km/h at a transport distance not exceeding 50 km.
