Preparation
What do you need to have to replace the filter?
- 10, 17 and 19 inch keys, head.
- A glass of penetrating liquid VD-40.
- A jar with a volume of 0.5 - 0.7 liters for draining fuel.
- Free time – 30 minutes.
- New filter.
Before starting work, reduce the pressure in the fuel line by removing the fuse responsible for the fuel pump. After removing it, you need to start the engine and wait until it stalls. As usual, the work of replacing the filter is carried out when the car is securely installed on an inspection pit or overpass.
While in the pit, you can see a small cylinder secured with clamps to the bottom of the car in the area of the beam. There are two hoses attached to the cylinder, making the filter easy to find.
Removing the filter
First, you need to place a prepared container under the filter to drain the remaining fuel in the system. The filter is released from its fastenings using keys.
First, the hose ends are loosened slightly, then the bolt on the holder is slightly unscrewed.
All contaminants, such as dirt and dust, are removed, and the connections are cleaned with a cloth moistened with a penetrating liquid. After the hoses are disconnected, the remaining fuel should be drained into a jar. As a result of these manipulations, the released filter can be easily removed from the mounts.
Installation
You should pay attention to the arrow marked on the filter - it indicates the direction of movement of gasoline, therefore the filter is installed in accordance with this arrow.
At the same time, you need to evaluate the condition of the holder through which the filter will be attached and the appearance of the seal, since over time these elements lose their properties. It is better to immediately replace them with new ones to avoid problems in the future.
When purchasing both the filter itself and mounting materials, it is advisable not to save money, but to spend only on original spare parts.
Installing a new filter is done in reverse order. Upon completion of installation, you need to tighten all the nuts and make sure that the hose connections are tight. After installing the fuel pump fuse, start the engine and inspect the fuel lines for gasoline leaks.
Safety precautions
During installation work, it is advisable to have a fire extinguisher with you. Smoking or working in a dark room with candles or matches is strictly not recommended. If gasoline accidentally gets into your eyes, rinse them with running water.
Despite the fact that there are a lot of letters in the article, replacing the fuel filter will not take much time - only half an hour, and with careful study of the material and good tools, this work will even be pleasant, if only because you will not have to contact a service station and lose your own money.
According to the manufacturer's recommendation, the fuel filter must be replaced after every 30,000 km.

2. Relieve the pressure in the fuel line (see “Fuel line - pressure relief”).
The pressure in the fuel line should be relieved even if the vehicle has not been driven for a long time. After the pressure is released, a small amount of fuel remains in the fuel line.
3. Use a cloth to wipe the fuel filter and the fuel pipes connected to it. We treat the thread of the coupling bolt of the filter mounting clamp with penetrating lubricant.
Before disconnecting the tube tip from the filter, prepare a small wide container with a volume of at least 0.5 liters to drain the remaining gasoline from the fuel line.
4. On cars with engines 2111 and 2112:
a) 19 mm open-end wrench,
holding the filter from rotating by the hexagonal pipe,
unscrew the fitting of the fuel supply line (1) 17 mm
b) Similarly, disconnect the fitting of the fuel outlet pipe (2).
Recommendation.
Rubber O-rings are installed at the ends of the fuel pipes. The rings must be replaced before assembly.
On vehicles with engines 21114 and 21124:
a) Press the spring lock.
b) While holding the lock in the pressed position, remove the connecting tip of the fuel line tube from the outlet pipe of the fuel filter.
c) Similarly, remove the connecting tip of the fuel line tube from the inlet pipe of the fuel filter.
5. 10 mm
Unscrew the coupling bolt of the fuel filter mounting clamp.
6. Remove the filter from the clamp.
Install the new filter in reverse order.
Warning!
Pay attention to the arrow marked on the filter housing indicating the direction of fuel flow. On cars with engines 2111 and 2112, the arrow should be directed to the left, and on cars with engines 21114 and 21124 - to the right side
After connecting the fuel pipes to the fuel filter, turn on the ignition for 5 seconds and check the tightness of the connections. If fuel leaks, replace the O-rings in leaking fuel line connections.
