To disassemble the cylinder head on a VAZ 2190 Lada Granta with VAZ 11183, 21116 and 11186 modification engines, prepare a standard set of tools. Remove the cylinder head from the car. A year later, Super-Auto management removed the ICE marking 21128-26 from production, replacing it with the following version designated 21128-27:
- the engine does not bend the valve, so a conventional timing belt with a service life of 50 - 90 thousand km is installed;
- cylinders returned to 82 mm size, lightweight pistons from Federal Mogul;
- Mecaprom connecting rods were used;
- a new version of controller firmware has been created;

Everything works well with the “January” controller, but standard firmware is not an option if the camshaft has been replaced. And it, in turn, has the following parameters:
After installing the new shaft, the motor became plug-in. However, on the 2114 hatchback, increasing power almost always comes with a compromise. In this case, we had to sacrifice reliability. What's improved:
- Maximum torque increased by 14 N*m ;
- The power also increased – the limit of “90 horsepower” was passed.
By the way, any tuning leads to a decrease in durability. Make a choice.
Model features
The developers have built into the 21114 engine a potential of within 120 hp. With. without reducing service life. For sports cars, boosting up to 180 hp is possible. pp., but the production of piston and CV gears will increase sharply, and major overhauls will be required more often. To improve engine parameters, the timing structure has been modified:
- camshaft drive by toothed belt;
- pin at the end of the camshaft for reading by the timing sensor.

In the fuel system, the return line is replaced by an injector ramp, which by default is equipped with either Boshevsky 0280-158-022, or yellow VAZ 20734, Siemens injectors. Instead of the ignition module there is a coil with 4 pins; the ECU uses an M7.9.7 or January version 7.2 controller.

The cooling system is equipped with a new thermostat, and the internal combustion engine includes an 80-amp generator. The repair manual contains a step-by-step description of all operations, for example the procedure for changing the oil. - The moving and fixed parts are marked with a mark, the same as on a standard pulley;
- Installation is carried out in the usual manner, aligning the crankshaft and timing mechanism according to the marks (as when replacing a belt), you should also remember about the correct tightening torque of the belt;
- If in the 4th cylinder the intake and exhaust valves are not open “to the maximum”, we carry out an adjustment: loosen the outer screws, and, holding the outer part of the gear, set the camshaft correctly. Tighten the fixing screws.

This is the most favorite type of power unit of many VAZ 2110-2112 owners, as it has a number of advantages over others, such as:
- increased power up to 92 hp;
- low fuel consumption;
- no problems with “bent valves”, since from the factory the pistons are equipped with recesses that prevent the “ill-fated” meeting of pistons and valves.
It is because of all these advantages that many people prefer to buy cars with such engines. But if you look at the complexity of maintenance, then naturally the 8-valve will be simpler in this regard.
If you want a simpler and more reliable design, then these are 8-valve machines. If power and dynamics are important to you, choose the 16-valve option. But again, keep in mind the modification so that there are no problems if the belt breaks.

Like all previous models, the VAZ 11183 engine is a classic four-stroke, in-line, 4-cylinder power unit with an overhead camshaft.
The increase in cylinder volume was achieved through the use of a higher cylinder block than that of the prototype. Its height is 2.3 mm higher than the height of the 2111 engine block and is 197.1 mm (from the crankshaft axis to the top surface). The diameter of the cylinders did not change, but the dimensions and shape of the combustion chamber had to be changed.

The cylinder head is made of aluminum alloy. A camshaft is installed in its upper part, and special ducts are cast in the lower part, designed to supply coolant to the combustion chambers. The same channels are also available in the cylinder block housing.
The crankshaft and camshaft of the engine are cast from cast iron, the pistons are made from aluminum alloy. Forged connecting rods (steel).
