Replacing antifreeze Ford Focus 2, how to fill coolant in Ford Focus II

When to change antifreeze?

The coolant is replaced according to the manufacturer's standards, based on the results of a technical inspection, and during vehicle repairs. But often it is advisable to fill a new composition with the following signs:

  • the antifreeze has become cloudy and a sediment has appeared;
  • foam appears or increases in volume;
  • the liquid became thick and gelatinous;
  • the composition has turned yellow, that is, the coolant has neutralized corrosion and lost its properties;
  • the antifreeze level has noticeably decreased;
  • if you had to add refrigerant manufactured to other standards.

When choosing a composition to replace antifreeze in Ford Focus 2, you need to take into account the type of car, the condition of the internal combustion engine, and driving style.

Important! Refrigerants lose their effectiveness during operation. Their acidity increases and their anti-corrosion protective properties decrease. On average, the fluid lifespan is three years or 60,000 kilometers. But the refrigerant must maintain a density above 1075 kg/cm³. Carboxylate compounds are commercially available. Its resource varies from 5 to 10 years. But the coolant expiration date takes precedence over the manufacturer's recommendations.

If the engine begins to overheat, the coolant loses its properties. This can be determined in 3 ways:

  • test strip, coolant is applied to the side with the reagent, and the indicator sets the replacement period;
  • inspection: appearance of foam, transformation of structure, change in color, formation of suspensions;
  • boiling, take the antifreeze into a large spoon and bring to a boil; if suspensions or the smell of ammonia appear, the coolant must be replaced.

If symptoms are detected, the coolant must be replaced as soon as possible. By trying to turn back the clock or save money, you increase the risk of engine failure and repairs costing up to 40% of the car's value.

Stages of replacing coolant Ford Focus 2

Before you start replacing the coolant, it is advisable to follow a couple of tips. It is best to change the coolant when the engine is cool, not when the engine is hot. Before draining the coolant, remove the coolant reservoir cap for a couple of seconds, then tighten it again. This is necessary to relieve pressure in the engine cooling system.

How to drain

  • First you need to pay attention to the fact that the car is standing on a level surface.
  • Unscrew the cap of the expansion tank.
  • Place a container of about ten liters under the drain hole.
  • Unscrew the drain plug.

We unscrew the drain plug; there is no need to remove it from the hole. Drain the coolant. Attention! Coolant is extremely dangerous, so wear gloves.

Drain the used antifreeze into a prepared container.

  • If the expansion tank is dirty, it must be washed.
  • We tighten the drain hole and pour water into the cooling system.
  • We start the engine and let it run until the fan turns on.
  • We turn off the engine, the water must be drained.
  • Repeat this procedure until the drained water becomes clear.
  • We tighten the drain plug.
  • How to fill

  • Unscrew the coolant reservoir cap.
  • Filling the cooler.
  • We start the engine and wait until the fan turns on, then turn it off and look at the temperature sensor.
  • Checking the fluid level.
  • If there is a shortage, recharge to the maximum level.

If the engine begins to overheat, then most likely an air lock has appeared; this can be determined as follows:

  • We turn on the heating.
  • If hot air comes out, the fan may not work properly.
  • We repair or replace the fan.

If it's cold, you can safely say that there is not enough coolant or an airbag. It is removed as follows:

  • Turn off the ignition.
  • We wait until the engine cools down.
  • Unscrew the cap of the expansion tank.
  • We start the car.
  • Let it run for five minutes, turn off the ignition.
  • After replacing the cooler, we measure the cooler level in a couple of days, and you also need to check its color.
  • Good coolant may darken slightly over time, but the underlying color should remain the same.
  • If the liquid turns brown or colorless after a few days, you most likely bought a counterfeit product. Buy original antifreeze, flush the system and replace the coolant.

How is fluid changed in a car?

First you need to prepare all the required materials. In particular, this is 6 liters of antifreeze, at least the same amount of distilled water for rinsing, rags, basins for draining used and rinsing fluid. Carefully inspect the system pipes, tank and radiator for leaks. The antifreeze replacement period is a good reason to change all the parts that have been asking for repair or replacement for a long time.

Remember that all procedures must be performed with the machine completely cooled. Otherwise, you may get burns, and nothing good will happen to the engine. So, let's look at the procedure for changing the coolant for Ford Focus 2:

  1. Place the car on a level surface to minimize possible residues of old fluid in the system. At the bottom of the radiator, unscrew the drain plug, first placing a wide basin under it. Open the cap on the tank slightly so that the liquid flows into the container in a small stream.
  2. When the liquid has drained, screw the drain plug back into place. Pour clean water into the system through the filler hole of the expansion tank (it is best to use distilled water), and tighten the filler plug. Start the engine and let it warm up to operating temperature.
  3. Carry out the draining procedure again. Repeat the flushing procedure 2-3 times so that clean water flows out of the system. Often one time is enough if you have used a high-quality liquid before.
  4. Close the drain hole tightly and fill in new antifreeze. Usually 5.5 liters are poured, about half a liter of liquid remains in the system, and it is impossible to drain this volume. But good antifreeze combined with distilled water will not harm your car's engine.
  5. Add fluid to approximately the maximum level in the tank (one centimeter below the maximum mark). Screw on the filler cap, start and warm up the engine. After this, check the coolant level and add if necessary.

The filler cap must be original. It is specially created so that even with strong twisting it still maintains a small air exchange with the environment. If you close the tank with a regular lid that is suitable in size, the cooling system will work several times less efficiently.

Also note that the drain plug is not completely pulled out of its seat so that the machine owner does not lose it when changing the fluid. It is enough to unscrew it a little to allow the antifreeze to flow into the hole formed.

You do not need to unscrew any other drain plugs in the machine for this procedure.

What antifreeze to fill in Ford Focus 2

To decide which antifreeze to fill Ford Focus 2 for replacement or topping up, you need to remember not only the appearance of the canister and the color of the liquid.

As a rule, the color of antifreeze in no way indicates its composition, and liquid manufacturers can write whatever they want on the packaging.

It is important to fill in exactly the antifreeze composition that does not contradict factory recommendations and does not lead to corrosion of the cylinder block, rapid wear of the pump or coking of the radiator.

What is poured from the factory into Focus 2 radiators?

It is originally colored orange, and the abbreviation on the label stands for Extended Life Anti-Freeze Coolant.

This is a Belgian liquid produced by Arteco, a joint venture between the American Chevron and the French Total.

There are such liquids under the Chevron brand, but they can be produced both in Russia and in Finland, China, Spain and India.

Antifreeze warning on the back of the original packaging.

The fluid sold by official Ford SUPER PLUS Premium dealers is Havoline XLC antifreeze.

According to Ford catalogs, it goes under the number WSS-M97B44-D (this number is also a Ford specification.

The antifreeze distributed by officials is purple, but in composition and characteristics these liquids are absolutely identical. This means that Ford Super Plus can be safely added and diluted with Havoline Transporter Antifreeze in any ratio.

How to replace the expensive Ford SUPER PLUS Premium

Expensive original antifreeze for Focus 2.

A liter of concentrate from Ford costs about 350 rubles.

It is diluted in a 50/50 ratio with demineralized (distilled) water, and until 2011, only Belgian components were imported to the plant in Vsevolozhsk, they were only diluted on the conveyor belt.

Antifreeze remained fluid down to -37 degrees and boiled at a temperature of +110 degrees. Several years ago, Klimovsk launched the production of domestic antifreeze from Arteco components and called it CoolStream Premium.

Analogs

Non-original antifreeze replacement kit (concentrated and distilled water)

At the same time, antifreeze turned out to be almost half the price of Ford antifreeze and is always on sale. They sell both CoolStream Premium C concentrate and CoolStream Premium 40 and CoolStream Premium 65 antifreezes, ready to use, depending on the ratio of water to concentrate. These three brands of antifreeze have exactly the same composition; the only difference can be in color.

What color should antifreeze be for Focus 2?

During replacement, the antifreeze was drained.

Any coolant is colorless by nature. The dye is added only after the completion of the material preparation process in an amount of several grams per thousand liters. Therefore, the color of different manufacturers can be anything from light green to bright blue. Why such difficulties with color? Manufacturers explain it this way:

  • By color you can roughly calculate the brand of antifreeze;
  • the car manufacturer requires a certain color, for example, Ford wants orange, Volvo yellow, and Volkswagen only purple, although the liquids can be completely identical in composition and properties;
  • if the antifreeze is colored, then it is easier to look at the level in the expansion tank, and also calculate the location of the leak;
  • you can check whether the antifreeze was replaced during operation.

Firstly, when do you need to change antifreeze on a Ford Focus 2? — It should be done after approximately 60 thousand km, or after every 5 years.

Secondly, how many liters of coolant does a Ford Focus 2 need? — The volume is 5-6 liters. Don’t forget that before filling in a new one, you need to rinse the system with clean water.

So, how to change antifreeze?

To begin with: the engine must be cooled down, the car must be placed on a flat surface.

1. Place a container for draining, unscrew the drain plug of the expansion tank. Keep in mind: it won’t come out completely, so don’t try to push it out of there.

Below is shown how to drain the coolant; (photo)

Remove the engine protection with a wrench (Torx T-30) or another screwdriver with attachments. Which is attached with self-tapping screws and removed. On the lower part of the radiator on the layer side there is a drain hole made for a flat screwdriver; we turn the plug; it cannot be completely removed. In order for the coolant to flow out completely.

Now. Once the antifreeze is completely out, close the drain hole and fill in new antifreeze through the expansion tank. How to fill the expansion tank with coolant to the maximum. Start the car. And warm up the engine to operating temperature, and watch the level; if you leave the tank, then top it up. When the temperature reaches 80 degrees. then the thermostat valve will open and move in a large circle. If the temperature stays the same as before before the breakdown, then that’s it.

How much antifreeze do you need to fill?

The amount of antifreeze that needs to be replaced depends on several factors. For example, if the fluid level has dropped but has not lost its quality, all you have to do is top it up. But, if the volume of coolant has decreased due to a leak, you will have to do a complete drain, eliminate the cause, and then fill in the old and new composition (necessarily of the same standard).

The amount of coolant for filling Ford Focus 2 is usually indicated in the car's operating instructions. This is from 5.2 to 8.5 liters. Below is a table of model modifications.

Engine volume Antifreeze volume l.

1.4 petrolfrom 5.2 to 5.5

Which refrigerant should I choose for the internal combustion engine cooling system on the Ford Focus 2?

Note! It is necessary to immediately warn the owners of Ford Focus 2: the use of an unsuitable composition threatens the following problems: engine overheating, cavitation and subsequent boiling of the coolant, the appearance of sludge, the formation of corrosion, as a harbinger of the impeller release pump, radiator contactor, thermostat and other elements.

What antifreeze should I fill Ford Focus 2 with? Of course, only compositions recommended by the manufacturer:

  • Concentrate 1.5 l (purple) G13 VAG. The composition is characterized by good miscibility with G12plus and G12plus products. According to user reviews, this brand of coolant allows you to maintain the cooling system in working condition and at optimal temperatures in it.
  • Transgenic concentrate (red) 1 l. FORD. The composition must be diluted with distilled water. This is a liquid carboxylate obtained by the organic acid method. Advantages: excellent corrosion protection, long service life.
  • Green coolant 1kg Miles. The composition belongs to the best antifreeze on the market. Produced using silicate-free technology based on salts of carboxylic acids. This allows it to be used in engines with copper and aluminum radiators.
  • 1 kg of refrigerant. (green) Pattern. PROFESSIONALLY. This is a product of a new line from the manufacturer. It is defined by the G11 and G12+ specifications. The composition is made from premium quality monoethylene glycol. The coolant uses a high-quality additive package.
  • Coolant 5 liters. (green) Pattern. PROFESSIONALLY. Same as above. Large capacity.
  • Pattern G12 red 1kg. 3M. Same as above.
  • Pattern G12 red 5kg. Same as above.
  • FORD concentrate (red) 1l. Genuine Ford coolant, filled at the factory. Before pouring, dilution with distilled water is necessary.

To flush the cooling system, you can buy distilled water - “Kristallex” 1.5 l or 5 l.

In a note! To ensure that the coolant lasts a long time, experts and experienced drivers do not recommend heating the internal combustion engine to more than 90 degrees Celsius. This is the critical operating temperature of the coolant. In addition, there are risks of reduced engine performance and increased fuel consumption.

Examination

To check after completion of the work,

check that there is no plug and the thermostat has opened, grab the lower pipe, if it gets hot, then everything is in order.

Replacing antifreeze for Ford Focus 2; (video)

Hello, dear visitors and readers of my short note. This note will discuss how to replace antifreeze on a Ford Focus 2 car yourself. There will be no difficulties in this procedure for replacing antifreeze. Should you change the antifreeze or not, let’s figure it out together. Since The Ford Focus 2 car has already run more than 160,000 km; it was decided to change all technical fluids.

First, I changed the fluid in the electric power steering (EGUR). Then I changed the oil in the automatic transmission. I described everything earlier and in detail in this short note about how to change the oil in an automatic transmission with your own hands. Now it’s the turn to replace the completely old antifreeze with a new one. When replacing antifreeze on a Ford Focus 2 2.0 liter engine. There are some small nuances.

We will now look at what specific nuances. As you know, Fords differ in engines. For engines of 1.4-2.0 liters. The volume of antifreeze poured may vary. Below in the photo I show all the volumes of liquids poured:

But in order to replace antifreeze on your own, I recommend that everyone read the instructions on replacing antifreeze from smart books on car repair and maintenance. I carefully read everything that was written there and found something useful for myself. Then I went to read the Ford Club forum, known to all tricksters

Thanks to the guys for the useful tips. After that, I concluded that I could replace the antifreeze myself. But in order to do all this, I need to purchase the necessary consumables. That’s what was done. I ordered 4 liters of antifreeze concentrate from the online store since I have a 2.0 engine l. then I will need 6.3 liters for filling according to the recommendations and the table of volumes of liquids to be filled. I purchased a concentrate like the one in the photo below.

Coolant Motorcraft SuperPlus 2000, meeting the requirements of Ford WSS-M97B44-D Prices for the original concentrate are not very high, starting from 320 rubles per liter. Of course, you can buy high-quality analogues, but I bought the original, so to speak, for my confidence, and even more so is poured into the engine.

This concentrate will need to be diluted one to one with distilled water. Since my mileage is already 160,000 km, I decided that the cooling system needs to be flushed. For flushing, I bought 15 liters of distilled water, which is inexpensive. I bought water at a gas station. at a price of 80 rubles for five liters. A total of 240 rubles were spent and 4 liter bottles of concentrate were bought for 1,280 rubles. A total of 1,520 rubles were spent. and time to replace the antifreeze. Here is distilled water:

I decided that I would rinse the engine cooling system with distilled water twice, five liters each. Since anyway, when the antifreeze is drained, we will have about a liter of old antifreeze left in the block, and in two times I think that I will more or less rinse the system. I am still preparing to replace the antifreeze done. Now let's get down to the main part.

Antifreeze goes into the engine

These were flowers. But when the fluid reaches the engine, it's no joke. If you don’t catch it in time, you can at least do a major overhaul. There are several symptoms that you need to act upon immediately to prevent the engine from stalling.

Checking the quality of the oil with a napkin

White smoke from the exhaust pipe

If the engine overheats and smoke continues to flow, there are two options. Either the oil scraper rings have become coked (but then the smoke will be bluish), or antifreeze has begun to enter the combustion chamber of one or more cylinders. Secondary symptoms include engine tripping and poor starting, but in this case a thousand other reasons can be found. White Smoke is a minimal head gasket replacement. This is the case if the cylinder head does not move, if shells have not formed in the plane of the cylinder block through which antifreeze enters the combustion chamber.

Another alarming symptom is that the antifreeze is boiling in the expansion tank, and if you open the cap, the tank will smell of exhaust gases. One hundred percent we are dealing with a burnt cylinder head gasket. This is done by replacing the gasket, checking the drawings of the cylinder head and block, and correctly tightening the cylinder head bolts exclusively according to the diagram and with a torque wrench.

Oil level rises, antifreeze runs out

The situation is similar to the previous one, but in this case the antifreeze already enters the lubrication system. Most likely also through the cylinder head gasket. This situation often confuses the public, as antifreeze comes out at an alarming rate, but does not leak. But first the oil level rises. Over time, the oil, mixed in the crankcase with antifreeze, turns into a brown emulsion and does not look like oil at all.

Emulsion on the oil filler cap

First, the emulsion will settle on the oil filler cap, but you can see before it’s too late. And if we miss this moment, we have an excellent opportunity to install a new crankshaft, oil pump, rings, pistons, camshaft - everything that is lubricated with this emulsion becomes unusable. In addition, mechanical cleaning of all oil passages in the block, head, shafts and connecting rods will be required.

On a Ford Focus 2, antifreeze can often escape through the thermostat gasket, but this is insignificant compared to a breakthrough in the engine, which is not worth talking about. Watch for the first signs of low antifreeze levels, take quick and decisive action, and only fill with high-quality antifreeze. Good luck to everyone on the roads and stable engine temperature!

Leaks and problems

Like any other car, the Ford Focus 2 may experience malfunctions or leaks in the cooling system. But the system itself is quite reliable and, if you take care of it regularly, no surprises will happen.

Of course, the thermostat or pump may fail, but this is more likely normal wear and tear from aging. But leaks often occur due to a jammed valve in the tank lid. The pressure in the system increases and leaks at the weakest point.

Good day everyone and Happy New Year!

So the mileage of my car has exceeded one hundred thousand. I started to think about changing the power steering oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, and automatic transmission oil (already replaced it). I decided to start by changing the oil in the automatic transmission, but more on that in another part of the bulletin board. Next, I decided to replace the coolant. Before proceeding directly to the replacement itself, it was necessary to study the theoretical part. I read a smart book on repair and operation (I have two of them), but as expected, I did not receive comprehensive information there. Then I studied the Focus Club forum. As a result, I determined a clear plan of action for myself. I went to the store and bought everything I needed.

I would like to note right away that I did not flush the system. I just don’t see the point in this, since the original antifreeze is designed for almost 10 years of service. In addition, the question arises, why? and from what? During normal operation of the vehicle (the engine does not overheat and the coolant does not boil) and when using the original coolant diluted with distilled water, no flushing is required. Why distilled water? Since my line of work is directly related to ventilation equipment, I often have to deal with chillers (a machine that prepares cold water). So, in a chiller running on ordinary untreated water, after about a year quite large deposits of salts and other unnecessary stuff are formed. The same thing happens with a car’s cooling system when using plain water.

And so back to the point. I bought 4 liters of original antifreeze and 5 liters of distilled water. The work was carried out alone in a garage with a pit. First, unscrew the expansion tank cap. It unscrews well on a hot car. Next, we climb under the car (remove the protection if anyone has it) and unscrew the radiator drain plug using a wide flat screwdriver.

Drain the old liquid into a prepared container.

Next, I removed the tank and washed it with distilled water.

We put the tank in place. We tighten the radiator cap. We dilute the concentrate one to one and fill it through the expansion tank until the system is completely filled. We do this slowly to avoid air jams.

Next, warm up the car until the cooling fan turns on, turn it off, let it cool and, if necessary, add more antifreeze. Since there are approximately 2 liters of old antifreeze left in the system, I plan to repeat the procedure again in the summer. The whole procedure took me an hour and a half, including warming up the engine. Next time it will be much faster.

Once again I wish everyone a Happy New Year!

Procedure

Replacing antifreeze on a Ford Focus 2 is carried out both during the next technical inspection of the car, and independently in a garage. In order to replace the coolant yourself, you will need to find a place where there are no children or animals.

And be sure to follow all the required safety measures when performing this work, since antifreeze is very toxic and harmful to the human body! Antifreeze or antifreeze should not be poured into streams, rivers and under no circumstances should it be poured near water supply sources in the form of pumps or wells.

Replacement of antifreeze is carried out on a cooled, cold engine. Otherwise, you may get burned. Find the radiator cap or expansion tank and remove it. Unscrew the drain valve or drain plug. First place a container under it for non-food products.

Completely drain all antifreeze. Next, check all cooling system pipe hoses for ruptures, cracks and damage. If you find damage, replace them with new ones.

Then flush the entire cooling system. The system may contain grease, rust and other deposits that interfere with the normal operation of the engine. To flush the entire system you will need a special liquid. It can be purchased at any spare parts store. It’s called “flushing the cooling system” and it shows a radiator.

Before flushing the system, tighten the radiator drain plug. Next, the entire jar is poured into the cooling radiator, after which demineralized water is added and the radiator tank is filled completely to the brim. Close the radiator cap.

Then we start the engine and turn on the heater at maximum power. We wait until the engine warms up to operating temperature. After this, turn off the engine and let it cool. Next, we again substitute a container to drain all the flushing fluid and open the radiator cap, followed by opening the drain plug.

Then we replace the drain plug and fill the cooling system with ordinary water and, closing the radiator cap, start the engine and warm it up for 15 minutes. Next, the engine should cool down, and all the previously filled water should be drained. Well, now you can fill in new antifreeze!

Be sure to read the manufacturer's recommendations on the coolant packaging. And it doesn’t matter whether it’s antifreeze or antifreeze, you need to fill it only after reading the rules and only in accordance with them. Do not forget that the concentration of antifreeze in the cooling system should not exceed 70%. The optimal ratio is 50% water and 50% concentrate.

After you have filled in the coolant, do not forget to turn on the engine and heater at maximum power. This is required to evenly distribute the liquid throughout the cooling system.

All air bubbles from the cooling system must be removed; to do this, press the pipes leading to the radiator several times. Also, do not forget to check the antifreeze level. If the level is below the minimum, then add it to the maximum.

Replacing Ford Focus 2 antifreeze is carried out in compliance with all technical safety rules related to these types of work.

Replacing antifreeze Ford video

Replacing antifreeze on Ford Focus 2 cars is the same, regardless of the year of manufacture. Manufacturers recommend changing the fluid every 5 years, or 60 thousand km. By following this rule, you can avoid a number of problems associated with the cooling system.

How to change antifreeze?

The volume of liquid in the system is from 5 to 6 liters. After the old antifreeze has been drained, it is necessary to clean the system. Plain water will do the job well.

Replacing antifreeze on Ford Focus 2 step by step:

  • Unscrew the cap of the expansion tank.
  • Drain the liquid into a special container.
  • Cleaning the system with water.
  • Tighten the expansion tank cap.
  • Filling with new antifreeze.
  • Check the level with the car running, and if necessary, add fluid.
  • When carrying out work, the presence of gloves is considered mandatory, this is due to the toxicity of antifreeze. It will also be useful to select a disposal location for the liquid in advance.

    Choosing antifreeze for a Ford Focus 2 car

    Initially, Ford cars are filled with Havoline XLC, produced by Arteco. It is the most preferred one to use. You can purchase it at retail under the Ford SUPER PLUS Premium label. These fluids are approved not only by car manufacturers, but also by thousands of satisfied customers. If you have the opportunity to purchase them, this is the best option. Less preferred, but also time-tested liquids are SWAG, Febi and Spectrogen. In the absence of manufacturer-approved antifreeze, they can also be used. The risk of damage to the vehicle's cooling system is minimal.

    The price may vary depending on the market situation and other factors. By choosing a high-quality antifreeze that is suitable for your vehicle, you minimize the risk of problems with engine cooling. The desire to buy a cheaper liquid is understandable, but such savings lead to expenses for repairs in the future. The cooling system allows the engine to operate in optimal mode. Deviation from the recommended temperature is critical for the motor and reduces its operating life.

    Which coolant is better to choose?

    Of course, the best fluid for Ford Focus 2 is Ford Super Plus Premium fluid. The concentrate of this liquid makes it possible to operate the car at sub-zero temperatures down to minus 37 degrees. The liquid is diluted in a percentage ratio of 50 to 50; it is with this ratio that it has the most effective thermal conductivity. This antifreeze is obtained from an organic acid base; it is this composition that makes it possible to rightfully call it one of the most environmentally friendly antifreezes. Since antifreeze does not contain nitrates, borates, silicates and nitrites. Antifreeze must be topped up promptly. You will have to make a couple of gases per year, on average 200-300 grams. 1. Let the engine cool, after it has cooled down, remove the cap from the expansion tank to relieve residual pressure.

    2. It is necessary to unscrew the screws that hold the lower engine protection using a Torx T-30 wrench, then remove the protection.

    3. Find the drain hole on the lower radiator tank, use a screwdriver to turn the drain plug, then place a clean container under the plug. In order for the liquid to drain with less intensity, you need to close the cap of the expansion tank; after all the liquid has flowed out, do not forget to remove it again.

    4. Screw the drain plug back in and fill in new antifreeze through the special hole in the expansion tank.

    5. After the antifreeze has risen to the upper MAX mark drawn on the expansion tank, start the engine and let it warm up to its operating temperature. Don't forget to watch the level, if necessary, fill in more coolant.

    6. After the antifreeze temperature reaches 82 degrees, the thermostat valve will open, after which the coolant will flow around the cooling system in a large circle, and the lower radiator pipe should become hot. At this point, the antifreeze level will drop, you will need to add coolant, otherwise air will inevitably enter the cooling system.

    7. Stop the engine and let it cool, then check the antifreeze level; if it is too low, add more fluid. In this simple and not tricky way, you can make the replacement yourself.

    According to the manufacturer's technical manual, replacing antifreeze on Ford Focus 2 is recommended every 60 thousand kilometers or every 5 years of car operation.

    The volume of coolant to be filled is approximately 6 liters. Also prepare clean water in advance for flushing the system.
