Additionally: The presence of ISOFIX is useful and necessary in a car with a child. The trunk is roomy - you can really fit a lot of things. The rear seat folds completely, I would like 60/40. but as they say, there is no harm in dreaming. There is audio preparation, but there are no speakers in the doors. There is no power steering. and, the saddest thing, there is no air conditioning. It's just HARD in a black car in the summer. No engine temperature gauge is also not good.

Due to events, I began to monitor the availability of spare parts: it is very difficult to find what seems to be a long-assembled Lada Kalina model, door hinges, white side windows, mechanical window lifters, door lock rods.

Birth of Lada Granta

At the development stage, Lada Granta had the working name Low cost, which meant “low price”. The Kalina platform was taken as the basis. Since this model did not achieve sales targets, there was a lot of unused equipment that was purchased for its assembly. This decision made it possible to make maximum use of everything that was already in the warehouse. And this, as a result, significantly reduced costs and development time. Thanks to this, the Lada Granta (VAZ-2190) appeared in less than 2 years. The prospects for such rapid development made it possible to save about 30%, which influenced the price formation.

However, the savings didn't stop there. In technological terms, everything was also reduced to a minimum. If we compare some car parts, then in the VAZ-2190 their number was reduced three times or more. The door decoration became very simple, with virtually no decorative elements, there were no electronics on the instrument panel, and the front bumper had the most primitive appearance. The predecessor to this decision was the experience with Renault Logan, which, in turn, ousted the domestic brand from the Russian market.

With the arrival of foreigners in our auto industry, so-called “dummies” appeared. What does this mean? The new brand in its basic version is a combination of chassis, engine and body. This is where the configuration elements end. This is exactly the “Grant” (VAZ-2190) that was at a promotional price. To the surprise of drivers, even simple mirrors and glass were installed here. And such elements as power steering, multimedia, airbags and other equipment could be purchased for an additional fee.

Lada Granta 2018 (Lada Granta 2018) is a front-engine, transverse-engine, front-wheel drive, five-seat, four-door, subcompact B class sedan, produced by the Russian automaker since August 14, 2022 in Tolyatti.

New Lada Granta

May 16, 2011. The release of the updated version took place on August 29, 2018 at the MIAS (Moscow International Motor Show), which was held in Moscow from August 29 to September 9, 2022. Production of the updated version of the model began on August 14, 2022, sales started on September 1, 2022.

The model is available in several body types:

• Lada Granta sedan

Exterior

The new Lada Granta sedan differs from the pre-restyling model primarily in its appearance. Just look at the photo of the Lada Grant and it will become clear that the differences are quite significant. In general, the body profile remains the same. This is a classic subcompact sedan. Small hood, raised rear, inclined front and rear pillars, convex roof. But on the updated version it is now used in the front part.

Lada Granta 2022 is significantly different in the front part, with a signature X style. Other headlight units (the layout remained the same, but the shape was changed), the front bumper (now with chrome inserts), a more aggressive false radiator grille, a hood from which the windshield washer nozzles were removed, moving them to the frill. In general, complete unification with the flagship Lada Vesta and the Lada X-Ray .

As for the side part, we note the different front fenders; they have become more muscular and expressive, adding a little dynamics. Soft fender liners were installed in the arches. A different wheel design, with 15-inch rims, a polished finish and alternating two-dimensional spokes.

The Lada Granta sedan has always been criticized for being too heavy and overloaded in the rear, which was clearly unsuccessful. Everyone understood this, so the Lada Granta liftback, which came out 3 years after the start of production of the sedan, already differed in the shape of the rear part. The new Lada Granta sedan received a radically redesigned sirloin. The license plate, like the liftback, was raised onto the trunk lid; it is different, with a small spoiler. The headlight units were not touched; they were just as compact as on the pre-facelift version. The bumper is different, with black inserts.

Among the changes, we note a new color, red (received the name Carnelian), bumpers in body color (other options are no longer offered), on more advanced trim levels an electromechanical trunk drive with a button.

Interior

They did quite a lot of work on the interior; just look at the photo of the Lada Grant after the facelift. The model lost its signature dashboard. Now it is like the Lada Kalina. The dashboard was left (tachometer on the left, speedometer on the right, rectangular on-board computer screen in the center), but with Vest motifs, orange rims and radial digitization. On the center console we note a rectangular X-style deflector, below it are elements of the multimedia system, and below is the control unit for the heating and interior ventilation system. On the central tunnel there is a slightly different shape of the parking brake lever .

Significant changes have affected the seats, the front driver's seat is now in some trim levels with the ability to adjust the height, the upholstery materials are different, and we also note pronounced lateral support. On the rear seats we highlight larger headrests.

And a common feature now for all configurations is the installation of the ERA-GLONASS system.

Specifications

Lada Granta 2022 is not much different from its predecessor in technical terms. Only minor modifications to the suspension, brakes, engine and gearbox.

The engines remained the same, with the exception of the VAZ 11183 and VAZ 21116. All power units are gasoline, in-line four with a volume of 1596 cm³, with a cast-iron block, distributed, multi-point injection, timing belt drive, overhead camshaft (s). The new Lada Granta received the following engines from its predecessor:

• VAZ-11186 – 87 hp. (64.2 kW), 8 valves, 2 per cylinder;
• VAZ-21126 – 98 hp. (72.2 kW), 16 valves, 4 per cylinder;
• VAZ-21127 - 106 hp. (78.2 kW), 16 valves, 4 per cylinder.

The main difference is the new piston group from Federal Mogul. Everyone understood that something had to be done. For example, the VAZ 11186 has a typical problem - the pump, it jams, cuts off the belt teeth, then the valves meet the pistons and the engine is overhauled . The problem was solved radically; new pistons come with holes and counterbores for valve plates; people call them “buttless”.

Gearboxes remained unchanged:

• Five-speed manual transmission VAZ 2181;

• Automatic transmission four-speed JATCO JF414E;
• Manual transmission five-speed VAZ AMT 2182.

In the mechanics and robots, the gear ratio in the main pair was changed from 3.70:1 to 3.90:1, the dynamics increased slightly. Plus we worked on the robot, a “Sport” mode appeared, the noise level was reduced, a different clutch was installed and a crawling mode appeared like Vesta’s.

A little work has been done on the suspension, but the layout is the same as its predecessor. The front axle has an independent MacPherson strut, the rear axle has a semi-independent torsion beam. The good old Gamma 1 platform.

The steering is classic - rack and pinion. We did a little work on the electromechanical gearless power steering, changing its calibration.

The brake system layout remains unchanged; there are discs on the front axle and drums on the rear axle.

In general, the new Lada Granta sedan is working on mistakes, which, of course, pleases. We corrected the stern, which caused a lot of complaints. Using a new piston is a definite plus. They tried to do something with a clearly “raw” robot. We took care of the comfort of the driver and passengers. We also note a more expanded package, a rich list of basic and additional options. And the fact remains a fact. Build quality and operational reliability are improved. That is, the updated sedan has not lost its advantages and has gained a lot, especially in terms of comfort, reliability, operational safety, and it has become stylish, without this awkward sirloin of the pre-restyling version.

External characteristics

The exterior of the car leaves much to be desired. It looks quite dull and simple. To develop it, the designers used a computer program, which, it is worth noting, was outdated. The resulting layout was so bad that the company had to invite British specialist Steve Mattin to the position of chief designer.

"Lada Granta" (VAZ-2190) is a B-class sedan, however, due to its increased dimensions, it is often classified as a "C" category. The weight of the car is slightly more than one ton, the ground clearance is 160 mm. Dimensions: 4260x1700x1500 mm. The wheelbase parameters did not exceed 2500 mm.

Price of Lada Granta 2190 on the secondary market

Official dealers estimate such a sedan new in the range from 440 to 630 thousand rubles.
