Finally, the new Chevrolet Aveo 2012-2013 model year has reached Russian and Ukrainian buyers. In the spring of 2012, new budget Chevrolet Aveo T300 sedan and hatchback in a five-door body version became available to domestic motorists.
Competitors of the Chevrolet Aveo in the new B-class body:
and New Chevrolet:
Let us recall that the presentation of the Chevrolet Aveo T300 hatchback took place at the Paris Motor Show in September 2010. Chevrolet Aveo's new T300 sedan body was presented to the European public at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2011. In the North American market and in a number of other countries, the new Aveo is sold under the name Chevrolet Sonic.
Design of a new sedan and hatchback body
The new Chevrolet Aveo 2012-2013 represents the American automaker in the European B-class, although with its external dimensions it is an overgrowth of this segment. dimensions _
Chevrolet Aveo 2012-2013 in the new sedan and hatchback body is:
- length - 4399 mm (4039 mm), width - 1735 mm, height - 1517 mm, wheelbase - 2525 mm,
- clearance
(ground clearance) - 150 mm.
From dry numbers, let's move on to the aesthetic perception of the new generation and review the Chevrolet Aveo.
The front part of the updated Aveo instantly “catches” with the original solution of the front lighting technology, each of the four headlights is located in its own “plate”. In the rich LTZ configuration, round “guns” of foglights are also added (not included in the base) and then the Chevrolet Aveo T300 looks at the road with six “eyes”, like an Alfa Romeo 159. The trapezoidal two-level false radiator grille with chrome edging is designed in the family style of large Chevrolets. The streamlined front bumper with a pronounced aerodynamic lip and aggressive edges flows into convex stampings of circular wheel arches. The U-shaped fin on the hood flows harmoniously into the A-pillars.
In profile, the new Aveo body has neat and stylish rear-view mirrors, a high window sill line, a bright rib along the top of the doors and a clear cut at the bottom. The T300 sedan differs from the hatchback only from the B-pillar.
Let's start describing the rear and stern of the new Aveo with the sedan. The almost flat roofline flows smoothly into the rear window and then onto the small, high-mounted trunk lid.
The shape of the lean rear of the sedan is spoiled by the clumsy rear lighting fixtures, which are in discord with the front lighting fixtures. A bumper with a simple configuration and an immodestly sized cargo compartment lid hint at a decent trunk. The flat roof of the hatchback breaks off at the rear and goes into the fifth door at a right angle. The doors for rear row passengers have a more convenient configuration and a feature in the form of a door handle hidden on the glass frame (at a quick glance, the five-door Aveo can easily be mistaken for a three-door). At the rear, the car has a powerful bumper, a small tailgate and stylish “eyes” for the side lights (similar to the front light design).
Interior - ergonomics, quality of materials and workmanship
Inside, the interior of the Chevrolet Aveo 2012-2013 continues to delight with pleasant surprises. A completely new front dashboard with a lot of niches, shelves and containers.
The impressively sized interior has an instrument panel designed in the style of the younger Chevrolet Spark (motorcycle motifs), a round tachometer dial and an electronic speedometer display with separately located windows for information lamps. The grippy steering wheel is comfortable (leather trim is an option), but the steering column is only height adjustable. The center console houses a standard radio (radio, CD MP3, AUX and USB), and below there is a place to control the air conditioning and heating system. The new Aveo boasts two glove compartments. The front row seats are perfectly profiled, the range of adjustments is enough even for people with a height of 190 cm (driver's seat with microlift), but the seat profile is not designed for obese drivers. Passengers in the second row are not as free and comfortable as in the front.
It would be better, of course, together, your knees don’t rest on the backs of the front seats, the roof doesn’t put pressure on your head, there’s a heater for the rear passengers. Finishing materials are at the level of representatives of the class (hard plastics, metallized inserts). The assembly of the interior is far from that of German cars; in some places small flaws are visible and the interior elements squeak. Standard _
LS new Chevrolet Aveo 2012 sedan for Russian and Ukrainian buyers will be equipped with a radio with CD MP3 and 4 speakers, air conditioning (surcharge of 30,000 rubles), front windows, driver's seat lift, height adjustable steering column, central locking with remote control, iron wheels R14, two airbags, ABC, BAC (emergency braking assistance system), EBD.
In the most saturated LTZ configuration, the new Aveo T300 sedan and hatchback will add lumbar support adjustment for the driver's seat, cruise control, electric mirrors, heated mirrors and front seats, reach adjustment for the steering column, R16 alloy wheels, front fog lights
, parking sensors, 6 airbags and a lot of other nice little things.
In the new body, the trunk of
the Chevrolet Aveo sedan has a serious 502 liters.
The trunk of the Aveo hatchback in the new body is more modest - 290 liters when traveling and cargo capacity increases to 653 liters with the second row seats folded.
Specifications
For the third generation Chevrolet Aveo, the technical specifications are based on the original base; the car is built on the global GM Gamma 2 platform (like the Opel Corsa and Opel Meriva). The front suspension of the new Aveo is MacPherson struts, a torsion beam at the rear, disc brakes with ABC, BAC and EBD, electric power steering. The new product has engines: three petrol and two diesel (for Europe):
- Petrol you can choose from: 1.2 l. (86 hp), 1.4 l. (100 hp), 1.6 l. (115 hp).
- Diesel: 1.3 l. VCDi (75 hp) and 1.3 l. VCDi (95 hp).
In Russia and Ukraine, the Chevrolet Aveo in the new body is currently offered only with the most powerful 1.6-liter (115 hp) engine, supported by 5 manual transmissions or 6 automatic transmissions.
Test Drive
The first impressions of the test drive of the 2012-2013 Chevrolet Aveo are mixed. Tight, European-style suspension, sharp (sometimes nervous) steering, tenacious brakes, fast automatic operation. In the city, driving the new Aveo, the driver feels great: the car accelerates quickly, brakes and steers well, although even in small potholes, the chassis clearly duplicates the profile of the road to the cabin. On the highway, the car begins to strain with sharp steering, poor directional stability (you constantly have to steer and return the car to a straight line), stiff suspension and mediocre sound and noise insulation.
Options and prices for 2012 and 2013
In Russia, the Aveo T300 sedan is offered in three trim levels: LS, LT, LTZ. Let's look at how much each of them costs.
- The price of a sedan in Russia
LS starts from 444,000 rubles, LT costs from 487,000 rubles (the version with 6-automatic transmission is 33,000 more expensive), the cost of LTZ is from 523,000 rubles. - The hatchback price for the LT 1.6 automatic transmission package is from 527,000 rubles, for the LTZ 1.6 automatic transmission - from 563,000 rubles.
For those who are interested in how much a Chevrolet Aveo costs in a new body in Ukraine
:
- LT 1.6 sedan (115 hp) 5 manual transmission is estimated at 128,700 hryvnia, for the LTZ 1.6 sedan (115 hp) 6 automatic transmission they ask for 145,080 hryvnia,
- the price of an Aveo hatchback in the LT 1.6 (115 hp) 5 manual transmission configuration costs 132,840 hryvnia, the cost of an LTZ 1.6 (115 hp) 6 automatic transmission costs 147,850 hryvnia.
The Chevrolet Aveo T250 sedan was presented to motorists in September 2005 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The car was produced from 2006 to 2012, it was replaced by the third generation with the factory index T300.
Continuation of the review:
New Chevrolet:
,
The history of the Chevrolet Aveo T250 sedan did not end in 2012; with a new name, it is produced in Ukraine at the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant.
The Aveo was designed by Italian auto fashion stylists, and cars were produced at many GM assembly plants in different parts of the world (Korea, Russia, China) and sold in more than 160 countries. Aveo T250 represents the Korean branch of DAT of the American company Chevrolet, which in turn is part of the mega automobile concern General Motors. The 2006 Aveo sedan body has a pronounced chopped, wedge-shaped shape. The front part has rectangular high-mounted headlights, a miniature false radiator grille, richly dressed in chrome-look plastic. The front bumper has sharp edges that extend onto the hood, there are air intake slots in the lower part of the front fairing and foglights located at the edges of the spotlight.
Photos of a Chevrolet Aveo in the old side body show the severity of the lines, a littered windshield pillar, a flat roof, and a lean trunk. The stylish and sporty look is emphasized by the stampings of the wheel arches and a bright rib on the side door handles. The rear of the Aveo T 250 sedan continues the chopped forms of the front part, everything is strict and laconic. The rear bumper, trunk lid are rectangular in configuration and large lighting “chandeliers” are in the shape of isosceles triangles. It would not be amiss to note that the old Aveo has a galvanized body.
Body dimensions, wheels and ground clearance
- The overall dimensions
of the 2006 Chevrolet Aveo sedan are: length - 4310 mm, width - 1710 mm, height - 1500 mm, wheelbase - 2480 mm. - The declared ground clearance
of the old Aveo body is 150 mm (a rare case, but according to reviews from owners, the ground clearance is actually 170 mm). - The car rests on the ground with tires on 155/80 R 13, 185/60 R14 or 185/55 R15 wheels. 195/50R16 wheels are offered as an option, but owners do not recommend installing this size of wheels
on the Aveo 2006, since the tires of the front wheel will cling to the arch when fully turned.
Salon and trunk
Inside, the old Aveo body shows off a large cabin for its class. The finishing materials are hard composite plastics (easily scratched and creaky), but they look decent due to their texture.
The front dashboard has a monumental shape with smooth lines and curves. The Chevrolet Aveo salon in the old body has a radio, ventilation and air conditioning control unit traditionally located on the center console. The steering wheel is large in diameter with a thin, uncomfortable rim. The steering column is adjustable in the vertical plane. The instrument panel is simple, informative, and in expensive trim levels there is an on-board computer.
The front row seats are densely padded and quite well profiled, but the lateral support is not sufficient. The range of adjustments in the driver's seat will satisfy even a person under 190 cm tall, but, alas, the lack of a seat lift does not allow you to sit comfortably.
The second row is designed for two, the third can only be a child. The seat cushion is set high, the backrest angle is optimal, there is minimal legroom for comfortable seating, and the high roof does not put pressure on the head. The trunk of a Chevrolet Aveo sedan in the old sedan body has a volume of 400 liters.
In the basic configuration, the car is modestly equipped: power steering, tachometer, audio preparation, fog lights. Rich configurations include air conditioning, central locking, heated electric mirrors, power windows, alloy wheels, ABC.
Price and options
Chevrolet Aveo model 2006 can still be estimated at how much it costs and purchased at car dealerships in Russia and Ukraine. In Russia, the price of an Aveo in the old 1.2 sedan body (84 hp) with 5 manual gearboxes starts at 388,300 rubles for the Base package and rises to 461,400 rubles for the LS version. In Ukraine, the cost of the 2006 model year Chevrolet Aveo sedan 1.5 (86 hp) with 5 manual gearboxes in the Base configuration starts from 91,920 hryvnia. Version SE 1.5 (86 hp) 5 manual gearbox with air conditioning, central locking, heated electric mirrors, 185/55 R15 tires costs from 105,960 hryvnia. The most expensive Aveo SX 1.5 (86 hp) 4 automatic transmission adds ABS + EBD, a driver's seat lift, aluminum interior inserts to the SE package and costs from 116,960 hryvnia.
Chevrolet Aveo ground clearance or ground clearance
, as for any other passenger car, is an important factor on our roads. It is the condition of the road surface or its complete absence that makes Russian motorists interested in the ground clearance of the Chevrolet Aveo and the possibility of increasing ground clearance using spacers.
To begin with, it’s worth honestly saying that the real ground clearance of the Chevrolet Aveo
may differ significantly from what is stated by the manufacturer.
The whole secret is in the method of measuring and where to measure ground clearance. Therefore, you can find out the real state of affairs only by arming yourself with a tape measure or ruler. The official ground clearance of the Chevrolet Aveo
is
155 mm
. However, in reality, under the engine protection you can hardly measure more than 150 mm, and under the front bumper apron it is generally 123 mm! The only good news is that under the rear of the Aveo sedan there is a decent 205 mm.
Some manufacturers use a trick and declare the amount of ground clearance in an “empty” car, but in real life we have a trunk full of all kinds of things, passengers and a driver. That is, in a loaded car the ground clearance will be completely different. Another factor that few people take into account is the age of the car and the wear and tear of the springs—their “sagging” due to age. The issue can be resolved by installing new springs or purchasing spacers for sagging Chevrolet Aveo springs
. Spacers allow you to compensate for spring subsidence and add a couple of centimeters of ground clearance. Sometimes even an inch of curb parking makes a difference.
But you shouldn’t get carried away with “lifting” the ground clearance of the Chevrolet Aveo, because spacers to increase ground clearance are focused only on springs. If you do not pay attention to the shock absorbers, the travel of which is often very limited, then independently upgrading the suspension can lead to loss of controllability and damage to the shock absorbers. From the point of view of cross-country ability, high ground clearance in our harsh conditions is good, but at high speeds on the highway and in corners, serious sway and additional body roll appear.
Detailed video of installing spacers to increase ground clearance on a Chevrolet Aveo at the front.
Any car manufacturer, when designing the suspension and choosing the ground clearance, looks for a middle ground between handling and cross-country ability. Perhaps the simplest, safest and most unpretentious way to increase clearance is to install wheels with “high” tires. Changing wheels makes it easy to increase the ground clearance by another centimeter.
Do not forget that a serious change in ground clearance can lead to damage to the CV joints of the Chevrolet Aveo. After all, the “grenades” will have to work from a slightly different angle. But this only applies to the front axle. Moreover, a serious change in ground clearance can lead to uneven tire wear.
Chevrolet Aveo ground clearance is the distance between the road and the lowest part of the car. To be more precise, the ground clearance is calculated, according to factory standards, from the threshold of the vehicle to the road. Ground clearance directly affects the aerodynamics of the car, as well as streamlining.
Ground clearance on sedan, hatchback and station wagon
Typically, automakers set different ground clearances for different body types. In the case of the Chevrolet Aveo, the manufacturer set the same ground clearance for all three body types: hatchback, sedan and station wagon. So, the ground clearance is 150 mm according to factory standards.
When installing tuning spare parts, the ground clearance will change. So, if you install engine crankcase protection, the figure will decrease by almost 15 mm, and will average 130 mm. And if the car is modified by body tuning, then the ground clearance may decrease by 120 mm. Therefore, motorists often adjust the ride height using special means.
Low ground clearance.

Owner reviews
- Alexander, Penza. I drive a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo, with a 1.6-liter engine. The engine produces 100 horses, which is not bad for a city sedan. The car drove 70 thousand kilometers, and for this mileage I decided to write a review. This is a car still in an old body, which has a serious drawback, in addition to an unsuccessful design - at a speed of 90-100 km/h, small rubble accumulates in the rear of the sill and fender. It hits the body and scratches it. Because of this, the body had to be repainted several times. A car with a ground clearance of 160 mm is normal for a city sedan. In addition, the car does not have hanging bumpers, unlike many competitors. I liked that there was a lot of headroom in the cabin due to the high body. The cabin itself is very narrow, which will make the third (middle) passenger uncomfortable. The car is quite reliable, I still drive it.
- Raisa, Novosibirsk. The odometer of my Chevrolet Aveo now shows 150 thousand kilometers. The car comes as standard, with a 1.4-liter engine producing 100 horsepower. So far, no complaints, I manage without unscheduled service stations. So, at the 86th thousand the struts were replaced, at the 105th thousand the timing belt was replaced, at the 122th thousand the front chassis was replaced, and at the 148th thousand a new coil block was installed. Everything was in accordance with the regulations; there were never any unexpected breakdowns. Gasoline consumption is 8-9 liters in the city. Cross-country ability in the city is not bad, given the minimal body overhangs and ground clearance of 160 mm. The interior is spacious, and cheap materials and scratchy plastic do not bother you at all.
- Andrey, Ufa. I had a very modest budget, so I didn't have much choice. I ended up shelling out for a 2014 Chevrolet Aveo. A second-generation car with a 1.6-liter engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. Not the poorest package. The car looks stylish and is clearly aimed at a youth audience. Consumes an average of 10-11 liters in the city - maybe it would be less if there was a manual transmission. The automatic machine consumes 1-2 liters of 95 gasoline, but works quite quickly. In the city, driving with an automatic transmission is very comfortable - you are less distracted, since there are only two pedals and your hands are constantly on the steering wheel. Everything in the Aveo's interior is designed to match its appearance, but the cheap plastic causes irritation. Due to the ground clearance of 135 mm, you need to be careful, otherwise you can easily damage the hanging bumpers. It’s strange that the Koreans reduced the ground clearance, because the old Aveo had 160 mm under the bottom.
- Yuri, Barnaul. I drove many routes in my Chevrolet Aveo - for example, from Barnaul to Sochi. He also traveled as far as Lake Baikal several times. And generally an adventure lover. I have a 2008 Aveo, I have driven over 170 thousand kilometers on it in ten years. Everything is fine, everything still works. Maybe because I have a Korean-made car... I think that my hatchback looks more stylish and original than the second generation car. Aveo handles clearly and brakes quickly, but in essence it is no different from most budget models. The main thing is to have safe handling. The 84-power engine doesn’t have enough star power – it accelerates slowly and consumes little fuel. Due to the ground clearance of 160 mm, the car tilts noticeably when turning, but this is not critical.
Methods for increasing ground clearance
Since the road surface in the CIS countries generally leaves much to be desired, with potholes and potholes, many Aveo owners try to increase the ground clearance in order to avoid damage to protective elements of the body, such as bumpers and door sills. There are several ways to do this. The most common are the installation of spacers or springs with shock absorbers. Let's consider both options.
Spacers
Spacers are rubber-metal plates that are inserted between the body and the shock absorber to increase the vehicle's ride height. These modification parts can be purchased at automobile markets or car dealerships. Since the cost is much lower than shock absorbers and springs, most motorists prefer spacers.
Installation of spacers.
Let's consider the sequence of work for installing spacers:
- We dismantle the shock absorber strut along with all components.
- We remove the metal cover that secures the spring.
- We install the spacer so that it is between two metal plates.
- We install the mounting bolts, which will then secure the stand to the glass.
- We install the rack on a standard seat.
- Thus, you can increase the ground clearance on the Chevrolet Aveo by 15-20 mm.
Exterior
In its appearance, the new generation of Chevrolet Aveo was significantly different from the previous series (T-200 and T-250). The exterior of both the sedan and the hatchback (the car was produced in two body styles) became more sporty, stylish and even moderately aggressive. This was largely achieved through the following design solutions:
- Unusual head optics. The car received rectangular headlights with two clearly defined, separated “wells” - one for low beam, the other for high beam. It looks impressive, especially against the background of black matte plastic that frames them.
- Trapezoidal two-level radiator grille. It is made in the “family” style of more expensive Chevrolet models - with a division in the center and a large cross-shaped nameplate. In addition, in some trim levels it was complemented by chrome edging, giving the exterior greater solidity.
- Lots of ribs, stampings and curves on the body. Similar elements (swollen wheel arches, distinct lines on the sides of the hood and at the bottom of the doors) brought dynamism to the car's appearance.
- Smooth roof line. Moreover, with a noticeable slope in the rear. This solution is more typical for sports cars from the C and D-class, so seeing it on a budget foreign car is doubly pleasant.
- Streamlined and massive bumpers. Say a tribute to fashion? But no. The bumpers are very large. In addition, unlike the body, there are practically no stampings on them.

All the described innovations in appearance were positively assessed by the public. However, many did not like the design of the rear of the Chevrolet Aveo. As experts say, the image of a dynamic and modern car was spoiled by incomprehensible rear lights that did not fit into the overall style. It's hard to disagree with this. Although in general the exterior of both the sedan and the hatchback is a solid “B”.
Shock absorbers and springs
Another way to increase ground clearance on an Aveo is to install high shock absorbers and springs. To do this, you will need to find a set of non-standard chassis to increase ground clearance. Typically, motorists go to tuning stores or the car market to purchase this type of spare parts.
Installation is done by yourself. Old parts are removed from the car, and new parts are easily installed on the old seat. So, there is no need to redo or customize anything. The only caveat may be large mounting bolts that need to be trimmed after installation on the car.
Conclusion
The clearance of the Chevrolet Aveo for all body types is the same and is 145 mm, according to the technical documentation provided by the manufacturer. So, to increase ground clearance, motorists use different methods. The most common is installing spacers.
Chevrolet, starting in 2011, introduced a second-generation budget car, which differs in appearance from previous models, but remains recognizable. The design, body dimensions, trunk and interior volume have changed. The new dimensions of the Chevrolet Aveo sedan made the family car more spacious and practical.
The new option is presented in two models.
- Produced at the Kaliningrad "Avtotor" Chevrolet Aveo with a sedan variant body.
- Based on GAZ, a new modification of the Chevrolet Aveo five-door hatchback.

Chevrolet car
The T250 budget car has ceased to represent serious competition for similar cars from other companies. Therefore, a model has been created that will be sold in 50 countries where Chevrolet has representative offices and showrooms. The new model was developed on the basis of Gamma2, taking into account the wishes of customers, especially complaints about the difficulty of getting comfortable in the cabin, especially while driving, for tall people.
William Durant founded an automobile company in 1911 to independently produce family cars, as a subsidiary of the General Motors Corporation he had built three years earlier. The company got its name from its second partner, who was both a racer and a leading car developer - Louis Chevrolet. Currently, models produced by manufacturers from South Korea are sold in Europe and Russia.

In our country, only two engines were sold, but there are actually 3 of them in the line. Of course, they do not stand out with high power, but they are enough for ordinary city driving. Now let's discuss them in more detail.
- The first unit is a 16-valve 1.2-liter engine. It is, of course, naturally aspirated and produces 84 horsepower and 114 units of torque. With this engine, the sedan accelerates to the first hundred in 13 seconds, and the maximum speed is 170 km/h. Consumption is around 7 liters in the city and 5 liters on the highway.
- The second engine in the Chevrolet Aveo T250 line is 1.4, which produces 101 horsepower and 131 H*m of torque. The dynamics have become better, namely 12 seconds to hundreds and 175 km/h maximum speed. Consumption is more - 8 liters in the city and also 5 liters on the highway.
- The 1.6-liter engine is the most powerful in the line. It is also naturally aspirated, but already produces 109 horses and 150 H*m of torque. Unfortunately, there is no data on how much it consumes and what its dynamics are, but most likely they do not differ much from the previous engine.
The car has an independent suspension at the front, the well-known MacPherson strut, and a semi-independent system at the rear – a beam. The car is stopped using front disc brakes, which are ventilated. Drum brakes are used at the rear. The gearboxes in the lineup are as follows: 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic. The car has front-wheel drive.
Dimensions
The increased dimensions of the interior and trunk made the T300 model the most compact and comfortable of the entire range of small cars and family cars. At a budget price, the interior trim is for the most part not inferior to models at a higher level in the price range.
A motorcycle-style dashboard, and a sporty, streamlined and swift body shape, characteristic of all Chevrolet cars, made the Chevrolet Aveo sedan and T300 hatchback attractive, stylish, stable, and, as a result, in demand.
External dimensions of the car
The height of the T300 model is 1517 millimeters, which is almost 12 mm higher than previous models. At the same time, the ground clearance remains the same and ranges from 150 to 155 mm depending on the type of tires and wheels. As a result, the cabin height has increased and the car has become more comfortable.
The car has become wider by 25 mm. In models 2004 - 2011 it was 1710 mm in size, the new horizontal dimensions were 1735 mm, and with the mirrors deployed to the working position it was 2004 mm. Now the Chevrolet Aveo sedan has three passenger seats in the back, which can easily accommodate large adult passengers. Even behind the driver, a man 180 centimeters tall can sit freely.
The length increased by 89 mm and became 4399 mm, previous models were 4310 mm. Along with the length, the wheelbase changed - it became 2525 mm, which made the car more stable, and at the same time maneuverability remained at the same level as it was with the distance between the axles of the wheel pairs being 2480 mm. The trunk volume has also increased significantly.
The track has leveled out and the difference between the front and rear wheels is only 2 mm, which is 1497/1495 mm. In Chevrolet sedan cars produced before 2012, the difference was 20 mm, and the value at the center of the track was 1450/1430 mm. The size of disks has undergone major changes. On the Chevrolet T250 sedan they were from 13 to 15 inches. The Aveo sedan with 17-inch wheels looks more aggressive and dynamic.
Due to the installation of additional equipment, the curb weight increased by 50 kilograms, from the previous 997 kg. At the same time, the carrying capacity has become less, which may disappoint car owners who use it as a family car for long trips and as a work car. The T300 sedan model has a curb weight of 1147, and a permissible gross weight of 1598 kg, instead of 1500 kg of the T250 model range. The permissible weight of the trailer with brakes is one ton, without brakes it is half as much.
Interior dimensions
The Chevrolet Aveo sedan has a spacious five-seater interior. The distance from the back of the driver's seat in the farthest position to the rear seat is from 203 mm, with the height of the latter being 350 mm and width 465 mm. At the same time, the ceiling height from the passenger sofa is 929 mm. This allows a tall person to sit and position his legs and head freely.
The driver's position has been improved. If earlier, only people of average height and thin build could fit in a Chevrolet sedan, like in a Lada, then in the Aveo T300 model the car can be driven by a two-meter athlete. The size of the arc of the seat back - the pedal is adjusted by moving the seat in the range of 854 - 1073 mm. The steering column also changes its position in the range of 463 – 524 mm from the floor plane, while the wheel rotates 45 degrees, adapting to a person’s height.
The height of the driver's seat is 318 mm with a width of 490 mm and a height to the ceiling of 968 mm. Taking into account the backrest, which has an orthopedic deflection and support for the spine, the seat for the driver is made as comfortable as possible.
Trunk volume
The upper part of the T300 sedan car flows in a smooth line into the trunk lid, which is high and measures 562 mm to the bottom at the level of the wing. From the inclined back of the passenger seat to the rear wall 997 - 1627 mm. The result is a total trunk volume of 502 liters. To carry luggage, you can use the space that opens when you fold the seat.
For comparison, we can say that on previous sedan models from Chevrolet, the trunk volume was 375 - 400 cubic decimeters. At the same time, the volume of the gas tank has been increased from 45 to 46 liters.
Problems during operation
Aveo is characterized by characteristic problems that often appear on different cars.
- Defective body metal. The thickness of the body metal is not thick enough, which can lead to the formation of cracks in the body. Particularly characteristic of Aveo is the formation of cracks in the places where the rear seat backs are attached. They first appear as a crackling sound in the trunk area when driving on an uneven surface. If you ignore the problem, the cracks will gradually grow, which can only be corrected by spot welding the body.
- The weak point of the Aveo is the front shock absorber struts. The problem is manifested by characteristic knocking and squeaking when driving on uneven surfaces, when the suspension needs to work out the unevenness of the road surface. Therefore, the racks have to be constantly changed. Ideally, you need to replace them with reinforced ones, which will reduce wear and get rid of annoying knocking.
- Rapid wear of engine hydraulic compensators. The problem is manifested by a characteristic knocking sound coming from the engine compartment when driving. To accurately identify the cause of a breakdown, computer diagnostics is necessary.
- Excessive oil change interval and engine oil starvation. By default, the manufacturer has set the engine oil change interval to 15 thousand km for a model with a 1.2-liter engine. If you change the oil according to the manual, you will notice increased wear on the camshaft and clogging of the oil line nozzle. Oil starvation threatens wear of the cylinder head, which can only be corrected by replacing it. To avoid the problem, it is necessary to reduce the oil change interval to 10 thousand km.
- All Aveo engines are characterized by prolonged warm-up in the cold season. This is especially true for the 1.2 liter engine. The reason for this phenomenon lies in the thermostat, which rarely withstands more than 50 thousand kilometers.
In general, Aveo can be characterized as a car that is worth the money. The model's shortcomings are more than compensated for by its low cost - among competitors for this money you can only find Chinese or domestic cars, which have no fewer shortcomings and inherent problems than the Aveo.
Aesthetic appearance
The look of the new Chevrolet Aveo sedan is sporty, swift and a little predatory. The traditional grille with chrome strip is replaced by a double false grille with a high-gloss surround. Each of the four headlights is located in a separate well under the curve of the hood. Below, fog lights are installed in protruding round lampshades, like cannons.
The smooth roof line, typical of racing cars, ends with a trunk lid. Stamped lines along the body give the car speed. Large discs under the protruding arches of the wings give its appearance aggressiveness and stability.
The harmony of the sedan's image is spoiled by the rear lights. They are large, extending to the sides and are too bulky and bright for fast sports shapes.
The torpedo has changed more significantly than the body. The panel is designed similarly to the instrument layout on racing motorcycles. All information about speed, revolutions and fuel consumption is displayed on one screen and is easy to read. There is an additional glove compartment and a case for glasses in the left front door.
During the design of the Aveo, changes were made to the frame design and steering rod adjustment. As a result, lateral roll when driving is almost completely eliminated. The car at a planned speed of 150 km/h is stable, obedient, without surprises in any driving mode. On city streets and highways it behaves equally stable.
Salon
The interior quality of the Chevrolet Aveo T250 is, of course, not at a high level, but all this is justified by the cost of the car. Armchairs with slight lateral support and fabric upholstery are used. There is more or less enough space in the front, but there is very little space in the back.
At the very top of the dashboard there is an electronic clock. The center console has round air deflectors at its very beginning. Below them is a standard radio, which has many buttons and a small monitor, it displays information about the radio station or track being played.
The tunnel received a large niche for small items, a gear knob, and a parking brake lever. By the way, the glove compartment of the model is small, it’s difficult to fit documents. The driver will get a 4-spoke steering wheel, which has a small number of buttons.
The trunk of the Chevrolet Aveo T250, unfortunately, does not allow you to increase its volume by folding the seats. The trunk volume is 400 liters and, in principle, this is enough. By the way, this car was tested for safety by EuroNCAP, and there it received only 2 stars out of 5.
