VAZ-2111 is a Russian station wagon with front-wheel drive, developed on the basis of the Lada 111 family, which was based on the 2110 sedan. The station wagon was produced in 1998-2009. The release was carried out in Russia and Ukraine. At the same time, the Ukrainian version was exported under the Bogdan brand. From a design point of view, the station wagon differed from the sedan only in the design of the rear. In addition, the car received a spacious interior with a trunk volume from 490 to 1420 liters, depending on the position of the rear sofa, which could be folded. This made it possible to transport long loads.
Criteria for selecting VAZ 2111 oil

Instructions
- We warm up the engine to 45-50 degrees. Warm oil has better fluidity and will drain better from the engine during a complete replacement. Our task is to remove as much as possible the old dirty and used fluid that no longer has useful properties from the engine and fill it with new one. If a lot of old dirty oil remains in the crankcase, it will be swept away with the new one and will worsen its beneficial properties. Warm up the engine for 5-7 minutes before starting, this will be sufficient.
- For easy access to the drain plug (and in some models the oil filter is also attached from the bottom) and the bottom of the car as a whole, you need to jack it up or drive into an inspection hole (the best option). Also, some models may have engine crankcase “protection” installed.
- We open air access to the crankcase by unscrewing the filler cap and dipstick.
- Place a large container (equal to the amount of oil being poured).
- Unscrew the drain plug with a wrench. Sometimes the drain plug is made like a regular “bolt” under an open-end wrench, and sometimes it can be unscrewed using a four- or hexagon. Don't forget to wear protective gloves, the oil will most likely wake you up warm, but you need to be careful.
- We wait about 10-15 minutes until the waste flows into a basin or cut-off plastic canister.
- Optional but very effective! Flushing the engine with a special liquid is not included in the maintenance regulations and is not mandatory - but. By getting a little confused, you will be much better at flushing out the old, black oil from the engine. In this case, wash with the old oil filter for 5-10 minutes. You will be surprised at the black oil that comes out with this liquid. This liquid is very easy to use. A detailed description should appear on the flushing fluid label.
- Changing the sedum filter. The seat (the place where the filter is located) needs to be wiped dry with a rag to remove dust and dirt, and only then install a new filter pre-soaked in oil. Lack of oil in the new filter before starting the engine can cause oil starvation, which in turn can cause filter deformation. Overall this is not a good thing. Also remember to lubricate the rubber O-ring before installation.
- Fill in new oil. Having made sure that the drain plug is screwed in and a new oil filter is installed, we can begin to fill in new oil using the dipstick as a guide. The level should be between the minimum and maximum marks. Also, you need to remember that after the first start of the engine, some oil will leave and the level will drop.
- In the future, when the engine is running, the oil level will probably change; be careful during the first few days of operation. Recheck the oil level using the dipstick after the first start.

Advantages
Manufacturers managed to make the 8-valve VAZ 2111 engine quite popular, since its design had a fairly large number of different solutions that entailed advantages. The main positive qualities of the power unit are the following:
- Great dynamics. Since the engine has fairly good maximum power and torque, it had no problems accelerating passenger cars with normal performance.
- Reliability. The VAZ 2111 engine block is made of high-strength materials, so its service life can only be envied. With proper operation and appropriate maintenance, you can manage to drive about 350 thousand kilometers on it without the need for major repairs.
- Injection power system. Thanks to this solution, the designers were able to achieve maximum fuel economy during operation of the power unit, regardless of which particular driving cycle it is currently used in.
- Two repair sizes. Even if it was necessary to overhaul the power unit with a boring, this could be done twice. Manufacturers have provided for this due to the fact that liners are not installed in the block, and the cylinders are machined directly into it.
- Minimum amount of vibrations. The developers have put a lot of effort into achieving maximum balance for the entire structure. Thanks to this, when driving a car with such an engine, vibrations are practically not felt under the hood.

Replacement
The oil pump is removed during repairs if the oil pressure in the lubrication system decreases and if oil leaks through the sealing gasket. So, in this article we will look at how to change the oil pump on VAZ 2110-2112 cars. To work, we will need all the tools necessary to remove the timing belt and engine oil sump, as well as a 10mm wrench.
Let's go in order:
- The first thing to do is remove the timing belt
- Next, drain the oil from the engine.
- After this, remove the crankshaft timing belt and its key. You can read about how to remove the crankshaft timing belt here.
- Remove the lower cover of the clutch housing: using a 10mm wrench, unscrew the 3 bolts securing the lower cover of the clutch housing and remove the cover (more details here)
- We remove the oil intake: using a 10mm wrench, you need to unscrew the 2 bolts with which the oil intake is attached to the main bearing cover, and one bolt securing the oil intake to the oil pump body, then you need to remove the oil intake, removing the tube from the oil pump channel.
- Clean the oil receiver mesh with white spirit. If the mesh is damaged or cannot be cleaned, it must be replaced with a new one.
- Now it's time to remove the oil pump itself. Using a 10mm socket wrench, unscrew the 6 bolts securing the pump to the cylinder block and remove the pump.
None Before installation, it is necessary to fill the oil pump cavity with grease in order to ensure oil suction from the crankcase when the engine is first started.
Tip: when replacing the oil pump, it is recommended to also replace the oil filter.
