What is cruise control
The engineering idea is more than 70 years old. To take care of driver fatigue during long drives in suburban areas, manufacturers began to introduce a mechanism into the car design that automatically regulates the speed mode. There is no need to press the accelerator: the driver gets less tired. In this case, the device takes into account descents/ascents and wind.

The system is activated at a speed of at least 40 km/h and is supported up to 180-200 km/h, so the option is not relevant in the city. The function is standardly installed on foreign cars and some versions of domestic auto industry products. But the mechanism can be mounted on any car. The type of engine, transmission (manual transmission, automatic transmission, robotic gearbox or variator) do not matter for installation, however, neither does the body: sedan, station wagon, hatchback.

How does cruise control work on Vesta?
There are more practical benefits from CC if you choose the right type of device:
- Passive. This is a combination of a control unit, several controllers and a power drive of the throttle valve. When the car picks up the desired speed, the sensors record the value and transmit it to the electronic unit, which in turn sends a command to the throttle drive. Thanks to this, engine power remains constant. The sensors also detect changes in the road situation: descents/ascents. The ECU transmits the correction to the damper drive: the throttle opens and closes so as to maintain the optimal mode.
- Adaptive. Radars and lidars, additional controllers were added to the new generation of spacecraft. The adaptive circuit also includes the car's anti-lock system, the EBD electronic regulator and the ESP car stabilizer. Now the complex “links” the car to other cars, adjusts it to the speed of the vehicle in front, while maintaining a safe distance.
QC is not an automatic system. To use the Lada Vesta, cruise control must be turned on and configured independently, and disconnected from the brake pedal control.

Of course, ideally you should buy a Lada Vesta in a luxury configuration. But for some it is too expensive, in this case you can take comfort. Buttons and symbols:

- SET/ACCEL – records the optimal speed. The message “CRUISE ENGAGED” appears on the board. If you press the key again, the recorded parameter increases by 2 km/h.
- COAST – reduces the speed of movement.
- RESUME – returns the vehicle to the previous specified parameter.
The ON/OFF button may not be on the steering wheel, then the system is turned on with the SET/ACCEL key. Deactivate the system of one of two pedals: brake or clutch.

Steering wheel capabilities with cruise control
The functionality of a steering wheel with ACC (adaptive cruise control) installed is significantly expanded. If passive CC acts almost like a simple speed limiter, then ACC (adaptive cruise control) affects the dynamics of the car. So, when the car moves uphill, ACC changes the degree of opening of the throttle valve and the air supply to the internal combustion engine (ICE). This ensures safe running and sets the correct speed and load on the power unit. On descent the reverse process occurs.

The front bumper is equipped with radars (their operation is based on electromagnetic and sound waves), or lidars (operating using infrared laser radiation). The devices analyze online maneuvers of passing vehicles and the state of stationary objects located ahead.
You need to configure the ACC to the desired speed limit, and the auxiliary unit itself will adjust the operation of the Lada Vesta to the specified parameters. That is, the car will go faster if the vehicle in front increases its speed. Or it will work the other way around when the hitchhiker lets off the gas.
