Two years ago, manufacturers of domestic Lada cars presented to the masses a new, improved model - Vesta Signatures. A special feature of the vehicle is the increased length of the body. Previously, AvtoVAZ had already produced a car of this type - Priora. It was assembled in a limited edition and was not further produced on a large scale. Vesta Long was developed by designers specifically for the head of the automobile concern.
The long wheelbase gives a great advantage in comfort - it is like a ship, but at the same time, due to the modified suspension, it is agile.
The extended version of the Lada Vesta signature is practically no different from other Vesta models if you evaluate it from a front angle. When viewed from other angles, the differences are obvious. Widened rear entrance door opening, visually larger luggage compartment. The improved alloy wheels are striking, making the Lada Vesta signature (long) model exclusive and presentable.

The idea of a new version
Lada Vesta Signature is not the first such version of Lada.
Previously, experiments with increasing dimensions were carried out with the Lada Priora. Then the concept version of Priora Premier was presented, the base length of which was increased by 17.5 centimeters. At the time of the attempt to introduce such a car, VAZ did not have sufficient capacity for this, so the project of an extended Priora froze at the embryonic stage. Today, after successful sales of the new Lada Vesta sedan and X-Ray crossover, the Tolyatti concern has reached a completely new level. Therefore, there are rumors that mass production of the long Vesta is quite within the capabilities of AvtoVAZ. So far, there is no exact information about whether cars of this type will roll off the assembly line in large quantities. At this stage, the version closest to the truth sounds like this: Lada Long will in the near future be produced only under individual orders.

The body of the “limousine” was welded in the experimental production of AVTOVAZ, and the final assembly of the car was carried out in the design center. The insert increased the wheelbase to 2885 mm (+ 250 mm), the total length of the car reached 4660 mm. The amount of legroom for rear passengers has increased by only 200 mm - because the rear seat has been moved 50 mm forward so that riders are not disturbed by the sloping roof (the distance from the seat to the ceiling has increased by 15 mm).
The rear door opening and the door itself have been enlarged, making it much more convenient to get in and out. By the way, the door is so-called pillarless - without additional slats in the window opening. To do this, we had to invent a complicated mechanism for lifting the large glass.
The dashboard differs from the standard one with chrome inserts. There is a minimum of plastic on the doors, mostly leather and chrome inserts.
The rear seatback no longer folds down. In the middle is a massive console-armrest, which hides two cup holders, two USB slots and heating switches. There is an additional lamp in the ceiling. The upholstery of the seats and some interior parts is leather, and the decorative inserts on the doors and instrument panel are chrome.
I was lucky enough to see almost all the elongated Tolyatti cars, even the first-born Amadeo based on the VAZ-21099 sedan, produced by Master Design in the mid-nineties. As is true: both in appearance and in the quality of the interior, the long Vesta surpasses all its predecessors. It's not even about the nuances.
Vesta seems to be from a different league - the highest, into which elongated versions of other VAZ models were closed. The design of the donor is so successful that the body of the elongated Vesta looks organic, as if it was born that way. And there is a qualitative leap in the interior decoration - there are no little things that look tacky.
The two rear seats are separated by a console-armrest. Heating, cup holders, and USB connectors are provided.

The main changes to Vesta in the Signature version affected the interior: now the passenger can safely cross his legs (unless, of course, he is from the NBA team). In the rear of the cabin there is now a full-fledged sofa that can definitely accommodate only two passengers: it is divided by a functional tunnel, which here not only plays the role of an armrest, but also has a functional panel with cup holders, an ashtray, seat heating buttons, a cigarette lighter and a USB connector. The leather interior trim is interspersed with inserts in neutral colors, which only adds charm and comfort to the Lada Vesta Signature. It was decided to avoid plastic in the interior trim as much as possible - leather and chrome decorative elements predominate. Each passenger has personal lighting and footlights (located in the doors). The sofa has hidden functionality - the backrest adjustment angle is very high (which, you must agree, is too good for a domestic car).
The enlarged rear door opening also increased comfort - getting into and out of the car is much easier and more convenient. "Seagull" GAZ-13 (1959-1981)
A large-class executive passenger car, created under the obvious influence of the latest models of the American company Packard, which were being studied at NAMI in those years (Packard Caribbean convertible and Packard Patrician sedan, both 1956 model year). “Chaika” was created with a clear focus on American style trends, like all GAZ products of those years, but was not a 100% “stylistic copy” or modernization of Packard.
The car was produced in small series at the Gorky Automobile Plant from 1959 to 1981. A total of 3,189 cars of this model were produced.

The signature is equipped with a suspension that, in principle, is not much different from the model from the production model, except that this version is modified to accommodate an elongated body and has several elements to strengthen the structure. The Lada Vesta Long version received a finally formed exterior thanks to modifications to the body. The designers designed the updated car platform in such a way that, despite the increase in length, the Lada fully retained all the features of the X-shaped concept and in profile was not only longer, but also more beautiful than the production sedan. This was achieved through the use of the latest methods, which VAZ is constantly experimenting with. This is encouraging, because with the introduction of new design options, the concern is gradually raising the bar from year to year. The modified wheelbase and body length create the main effect of the transformation from a sedan to a limousine.
Dramatic changes occur due to:
- the use of a longer wheelbase in the Signature (by as much as 25 cm), after the changes it is equal to 2.86 m;
- a radical increase in body length by 25 cm (now Vesta has reached an impressive length of 4.46 m);
- moving the rear passenger seats 5 cm forward;
- visible increase in the rear door openings of the Signature;
- increasing the vertical height between the rear seats and the ceiling.
Improving the door opening is another trump card in winning over a wealthy government audience. After all, most upper-class people prefer to travel with a personal driver. Therefore, when sitting in the rear seat, the important person will feel comfortable and spacious.
Exterior
At the first glance at this model, it immediately becomes clear that the updated Lada Vesta is nothing more than a continuation of the new series of X-RAY cars. This is evidenced by several characteristic features. The first is the radiator grille, made in the form of a large letter “X”, and the second – looking at the car from the side, you can see that its streamlining is made in such a way as to create a pattern, also in the form of the letter “X”.
Externally, the car looks quite solid and aggressive. The front bumper has two chrome inserts that emphasize its representative style. Also, the front bumper has built-in fog lights. The head optics also look quite modern and are a one-piece headlamp.
In the extended version - Lada vesta signature, the rear door is noticeably lengthened. Initially, this idea was made in order to give the car the appearance of a limousine. The spacious, wide rear window fits perfectly into the overall design of the car and looks quite representative.
From the rear, this car has a rather aggressive appearance, which is achieved due to the neon dimensions of the rear lighting, made in the form of halves of the letter “X”.
